System Requirements
Radio 2.15.50.14
HSPL 2.08
MAGLDR 1.13 / cLK 1.5
ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6
Class 4 microSDHC card with 1 GB EXT4 partition
Installation
Starting from version 3.0 all installation packages were merged and now full build includes files for all supported configurations.
Installation is fully automatic with few exceptions - AROMA installer enables users to choose from:
Wipe user data (and align EXT partition)
Leave user data intact
Data is 1st partition
Data is 2nd partition
Data is 3rd partition
Data is 4th partition
Data is 5th partition
Data is 6th partition (this is the default position)
Data is 7th partition
marc1706 kernel
GBLeo kernel
AD2SDX
DA2SDM
DataOnEXT + DalvikOnNAND
NAND (for T-Mobile HD2 only)
Enable ZRAM
Disable ZRAM
Other device configuration is detected automatically.
For NAND partitioning I recommend using HD2 NAND Toolkit, but you can use other tools if you want:
Required misc partition size for all configurations is 1 MB
Recovery partition size can be determined by the size of recovery.img
Required boot partition size for all configurations is 5 MB
Required cache size for all configurations is 5 MB
Required system partition size for all configurations is 100 MB for both phone models
User data partition should spread the rest of the NAND
For SD card partitioning I recommend GParted on Linux or MiniTool Partition Wizard on Windows:
FAT32 partition must be first and EXT4 partition must be second, both must be primary partitions
Linux Swap partition is not supported, because it only degrades the performance. Use ZRAM swap if you want more performance!
GPS configuration included in the ROM by default is optimized for global use, there is no need to alter configuration for different regions!

1024 MB EXT4 partition on SD card for App2SD and Data2EXT versions
Installation
I decided to split entire ROM package into several smaller archives because it is easier to maintain and provide updates for different configurations. This resulted into four packages:
Base package – As the name suggests this is the core of the ROM, it contains entire system partition and boot partition for MAGLDR. This is required and should be flashed firtst.
MAGLDR to cLK conversion package – cLK users will need to flash this package over the base to install kernel support for cLK to be able to boot and use mobile data.
Data2EXT package – This package will install required components for Data2EXT version (special version for cLK also included).
Applications for EXT – This package contains all system applications that will be installed onto EXT partition on SD card. It is intended for App2SD version users. This is required and should be flashed last because the installer script sets required system settings and permissions.
Applications for System – This package contains all system applications that will be installed onto system partition on NAND. It is intended for NAND-only and Data2EXT versions users users. This is required and should be flashed last because the installer script sets required system settings and permissions.
Post-installation package – THis package contains user applications that can be downloaded from Market but are included as default (e.g. Gmail). This package comes is for Data2EXT and NAND-only versions and must be flashed AFTER a first boot.
For NAND partitioning I recommend using HD2 NAND Toolkit (latest stable ClockworkMod Recovery is here), but you can use other tools if you want:
Required misc partition size for all configurations is 1 MB
Recovery partition size can be determined by the size of recovery.img or can be set to 5 MB
Required boot partition size for all configurations is 5 MB
Required cache size for all configurations is 5 MB
Required system partition size for App2SD version is 240 MB
Required system partition size for Data2EXT and NAND-only versions is 400 MB
User data partition should spread the rest of the NAND
For SD card partitioning I recommend GParted on Linux or MiniTool Partition Wizard on Windows:
EXT2 and EXT3 are also supported, but you will get best performance when using EXT4 file system
FAT32 partition must be first and EXT partition must be second, both must be primary partitions
GPS configuration included in the ROM by default is for Europe region. Since there is specific configuration for every location, you need to flash configuration files with AGPS auto update from here for your location (latest GPS libraries are also there).
Here is the list of packages for each version:

Versioning
As you can see, I will provide many smaller packages, that can be flashed on top each other. Therefore I have introduced four number versions, just like regular .NET assblies have:
[major].[minor].[build].[revision]
I will try to follow these rules when versioning (you can then see what packages are compatible with each other):
any major version will be a full build, only packages with the same major version will be compatible, full wipe is required before flash
minor versions will contain full build also, but the changes between minor versions will be compatible with other minor version (assuming major version is the same)
packages with increased build number will be updates only, they will contain only differences from base minor version
revisions will be updates too, but the changes will be very small, they will contain differences from base build
extras are only update packages and should be flashed on top of fully flashed ROM
any exceptions to the rules will be clearly visible at the download links
Here are some examples so that you understand what I mean:
eclipse_base_1.0.0.0, eclipse_clk_2.1.0.0 and eclipse_eu_ 3.6.0.0 are full releases but since they have different major versions, they are not compatible
eclipse_base_1.0.0.0 and eclipse_us_1.1.0.0 are full releases but they should be compatible
eclipse_base_1.1.1.0 is updated build, you need to flash eclipse_base_1.1.0.0 before applying
eclipse_base_1.1.2.1 is updated revision, so you need to flash eclipse_base_1.1.0.0 full package and eclipse_base_1.1.2.0 updated build before applying
Since there are many packages with different versions the thread title will show version of the latest base package. The most important clues how to find updates is to check thread date and see history below.

Troubleshooting
From time to time some users can individually experience small issues. Here is the list with workarounds:
On first boot WiFi can indicate to be on and connected but there will be no internet connection. That is normal in many Gingerbread builds, just reboot and from that moment WiFi should work correctly.
If you cannot acquire GPS lock, flash GPS_Libraries_vX.X_RPC_for_HD2_Gingerbread_update.zip from HERE.

OK..I can try that your way. I will post links to download and delete whole information about flashing...then I will wait about a half of a day and add the information back...then we will see if the users will give positive feedback. I decided to write OP first, then upload files...I think this is the right way of how to do a first post, when I need to write long OP...updates will be fine, there is not so much writting.
Daekin,
Will this have carousel added?

Before Flashing!
----------------------------
- this is not a kids ROM, not for beginners, please be sure you know what you're doing
- make sure you have Gingerbread Bootloaders on your phone (flash stock JVU with Odin3)
- make sure you have CWM pre-installed on your phone (flash latest SpeedMod kernel with Odin3)
- make sure you do a wipe data/factory reset in CWM (only for clean install, not for an update with a non-wipe version!)
- make sure you disable any lagfix applied if coming from another kernel than SpeedMod
- make sure you copied Base ROM, Theme and Add-on Packs to your SD
- if you're sure of all that, you may flash surface Base ROM ;-)
- don't flash Arabic Patch right after base install, install Theme first!
- don't flash the non-wipe version to switch between different ROM's (use it for recovery purposes or to upgrade this ROM only)
Flashing CLEAN with no leftovers
---------------------------------------------------------
0) backup your EFS folder!
1) backup your data from internal SD to PC (I don't mean with TB here)
2) recalibrate and charge your battery FULL! => always charge before flashing
3) perform a Hard Reset with code *2767*3855# in dialer => be careful! formats also your internal SD!
4) flash clean stock XXJVU with Odin3 / 512 PIT and ALL options checked (except Flash Lock and Bootloader) => repartition!
5) flash reference kernel Hardcore SpeedMod K16-10 in Odin3 => put it in PDA (no PIT and no options checked but auto reboot)
6) perform a Hard Reset with code *2767*3855# in dialer again (not really needed but to be very sure it's all very clean)
7) copy SURFACE Base + Add-on Essentials to your SD and Flash Base in CWM => you can mount your internal SD easily from within CWM
8) Reboot once after Base Flash and wait a few minutes as scripts need to do there thing after first load (time to set up your android settings and app settings f.e.)
9) Shut down, Reboot in CWM, Flash Add-on Essentials in CWM, Reboot and Off You Go =)
10) install ALL your apps FRESH from the market (avoid TB at this stage to avoid FC's! make new backup after)
Changing CSC
------------------------
- change your country CSC only after a clean Base install! (no Theme or Add-on Packs or you will get bootloops!)
- open nitrality / Tools / Change CSC Code / ... (warning! this will factory reset your Base install so all apps in data/app will be gone)
- if your CSC is not in the list, PM me and I will add it to the next Base ROM version ;-)
After 1st Boot
------------------------
- open App Drawer => nitrality => check "Application scaling" and shut down phone (=> only if you changed DPI to 182)
- boot into recovery mode (CWM) and install Theme Add-on
- in CWM install Add-on Pack(s) of your preference
- in CWM convert filesystem to EXT4 (mandatory)
- in CWM convert SYSTEM to EXT4 (mandatory)
- Reboot, swype down on your home screen, done!
- don't do a wipe data / factory reset after you installed Theme or Add-on Packs!
Known Issues
-------------------------
- TapeMachine gives a message on first start (double click on apk in /data/app and reinstall)
- in some occasions, FlashPlayer did not install correctly (double click on apk in /data/app and reinstall)
- FM-Radio frequencies after 100Hz are not shown although radio stations are working fine (change DPI back to 240 to resolve)
- no download button in Market for some apps (change dpi back to 240 in nitrality, clear market cache in settings/applications/manage applications/all/market/clear data and reboot) also re-apply filters in Market settings (you may have to redo this procedure twice, except for the dpi part)
Not supported by default SpeedMod kernel
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- BLN Control
- Voltage Control
- Voodoo Control App (Voodoo Sound Features are hard coded in SpeedMod kernel!)
Removed Features U might need (updated for v9.00 JVU)
--------------------------------------------------------
SAMSUNG (stock) Keyboard (you will also need this for other keyboards to work - except for Swype)
Gallery 3D & Photo Retouching applications (for those who need it and for changing lock screen wallpaper) => optimized and zipaligned!
VPN Connection services (flash in CWM)
Chinese and other characters (also install this when seeing squares in font or numbers instead of words)
Synchronize with servers service (flash in CWM)
MTP application (for connection to KIES)
if something else is broken and doesn't work for YOU, please contact me in PM
HINT! CONSIDER USING BAT, THE ELEGANT BLACK ANDROID THEME FROM PELE78

Pre-release, first download provided just for you
Not all apps from the list above are added, I will make separate update packs later on (not today)
Cheers!
Rom size grew to 139 MB just kidding. Would like to give this a try,do you have a no wipe version?
never mind, flashing it now. will give you feedback later today.
Couple of questions. How to change the font size? and how to change the options on the extended power menu? in the quick boot, the bootloader option is equivalent to download mode?
figured out the dpi part from your second post. if there is an option to change extended power menu features please let me know.
oh by the way, looks real good so far. whats the battery life like for you?
i guess i am on roll posting today. Rom looks clean and smooth so far. Well Done!
This rom looks great, everything I could want will install tomorrow e when have time, would have preferred go launcher as the pre installed one but thats minor.thanks for this, good job

weird it was working fine until i decided to change the number of screens from 3 to 4. i rebooted the phone and its force closing all apps now including launcher pro. Sam, any idea why
using my USB jig to get back to normal state. One suggestion i strongly recommend is to have an option of recovery, download etc in the extended power menu. Not everybody has a jig if something goes wrong like it did for me, it won't show me a screen and kept force closing. Otherwise i like the speed and clean rom. Please let me know about the extended power menu options.
download link not working

V1.1 (Jan. 15, 2012)
ROM is built from the new source code.
Enabled CRT-off animation in default.
Added CM FileManager.apk.
Fixed the IME dictionary issues in the v1 ROM by including LatinImeGoogle.apk. (I included it in AOSP beta 10, but not in CM9 v1.)
Updated camera libs from rapmv78 to support camcorder. (Camcorder is still buggy and slow.)
Updated files: hosts and build.prop.
Updated to Google Maps v6.1.0.
Downgraded the BCM4329 firmware from v4.218.248.23 to v4.218.248.18 for better WiFi compatibility for some SIM card related country code issue. (The drawback is that I saw some error messages in logcat because the firmware version is mismatched with the kernel bcm4329 driver. It seems not to affect WiFi for me.)
Removed Google Music and included the original Music app.
Included new kernel tytung_ics_r1. Main changes compared to my r14 kernel are as follows.
fixed wired headphones for ICS. (Credits to zivan56.)
changed VM_MAX_READAHEAD values to 1024 kbytes.
backported xt_qtaguid and xt_quota2 to support data usage.
backported bcm4329 WiFi driver from tuna 3.x kernel. (i.e. v4.218.248.23)
improved the flashlight's ICS compatibility.
added InteractiveX CPU governor.
added smartAssV2 CPU governor.
backported kgsl GPU driver from msm-3.0 kernel. (new in r1)
improved the data transfer speed of the SD card almost twice. (about 8MB/s write and 10MB/s read using a class 6 SD) (new in r1)
V1.0 (Jan. 9, 2012)
Initial release. My first CM9 ROM.
Fresh install is recommended.
dling will test it later
if long push back to exit can use it'll very suprice me

Because personally I don't like my AOSP ROM (i.e NexusHD2-IceCreamSandwich Beta10) has modified non-AOSP features (e.g. six bar signal and 3-way lockscreen) by the Evervolv team. (I still thank to them, BTW.)
And it's time-consuming to remove those features from the source code.
At the moment, I found that the current CM9 is still similar to AOSP, so I decide to compile it and try it. Then I decide to share it.
I won't compete with anyone.

It works.
But you need to enable it from Settings -> Developer -> Keep app back button
And the a2sd?
How does it run compared to your NexusHD2-IceCreamSandwich Beta10 rom?
Maybe more importantly: On which one will you be focusing more?

You may try it. From samuaz's thread.
Code:
to activate the a2sd type in the terminal:
a). su
b). a2sd reinstall
c). a2sd cachesd (to move the Dalvik cache to ext)
d). a2sd zipalign
Thanks for yet another great rom! Can this be considered as an upgrade or update from your aosp beta 10 series?

Multilanguage
...thx for you great work, but...
Is a Multilanguage Version coming up?
Sygic isn`t working, as on the other ICS versions, too! It still navigates, but there`s no picture, only the voice!
Interesting indeed. What impressed was the system partition of 95mb. Way to go mate. Downloading now and will keep you posted on how is it going.

i'll keep an eye for the future releases.

Don't see why, CM9 HD2 isn't slow.
This ROM is very smooth. Probably for me because I don't have to use A2SD..
Is there a way to change the behavior of the softkeys? I would like it to be stock. Just recent apps instead of menu and menu instead of lock screen..
Great job on this one!

I did. I probably will get used to it..
One other question, about the Dutch language. Is it correct that the Dutch spell check is not working? On tytung's ROM, I can download and enable dutch as an input language and also download the dictionary. But it never works. Is this a ICS thing or a CM9 bug?
I think I will keep this ROM for now. It's been good for the past hours. Need to check battery drain though..
^^^You will, look at it like its a new phone, only touch buttons. Its actually pretty cool, and it will save life on your phone!
Nice rom here, very quick for me and besides known bugs it all works great for me!
Any possible way of putting the third icon on the lockscreen like some ics roms have? Weird how some do some dont. And camera there is useless for me .
Good rom anyway though, nice work!
wow, didn't see this rom coming..
I had juuust installed tyung's CM9.. can anyone compare them ?
Xylograph, are you planning on updating this rom pretty often ? if so, i guess i need to reflash and re-intall everything all over again..
awesome work mate
Hi all,
This ROM is exactly the same as Kaos Droid for The Nexus 7 and other devices. I have just compiled it for the Nexus 10.
This ROM is based around my needs with a little extra everything that has been removed from my ROM will be added in the 2nd post as an extra.
This ROM is not only based around my needs, its also built around the community's needs. In the past if they have asked for something to be included or changed in the ROM it has been done.
I dont mind any critism at all as long as its constructive, any ideas are welcome also!

Questions & Answers
Some of these questions have never been asked but if youv'e thought of them or ever wondered why, here they are
Q: Why is this ROM so big when others are about 120MB in size?
A: CyanogenMod alone is 220MB. When you add all my options it gets quite large, e.g. Launchers, Browsers, Kernels and Tweaks, e.g. True Tablet UI, Stock Nav Bar, Alternative Themes, then there's apps like Adobe Flash, BBC iPlayer and a root file explorer.
Q: Have you thought of cutting the size of your ROM down by removing apps such as Flash Player and the root file explorer?
A: I have, But then it means side loading or re-downloading them, possibly setting permissions and alot more time to set up the ROM as you want it, plus its easier to have it all in one place, saves on backup storage, and if you don't want them, don't select them, thats why the options are there.
Q: Why have you changed your base from AOSP to CyanogenMod?
A: Basically CyanogenMod has fixes when it comes to bugs, loopholes and security issues, whereas AOSP doesn't have as many, its not updated as frequent, and doesn't have the CM team behind it!
Q: Can you add support for "this" or add "that" mod?
A: Yes, its usually not an issue, post the request in the thread or pm me, i will add the request to the OP, and add it in the next update, unless its slightly more complicated like gesture support, this will take time and therefore will be added a few versions later.
Q: Why so many releases so often?
A: Simple version: I lost my job and i like to learn
Not so simple version: With Android there is and always will be updates, fixes, customisations and mods that i and the community would like. I try to keep on top of these adding them in and updating regulary to keep the ROM up-to-date, also you get requests, so you add them and release the update, it keeps the community happy and your ROM up-to-date with the latest fixes and customisations that everyone wants.
Q: Why is there some bugs in almost every version?
A: Bugs are like rats, your never more than 10 feet away from one of them (10 lines of code in this case), there are going to be bugs in every ROM no matter how good the developer is. For example, in V3.6/3.6.1 there was an issue with the lockscreen not saving shortcuts, this was an issue with my ROM and any other ROM based on CM for that matter, i cannot help this, it is a CM issue, i have bugs and fixes to deal with that are on my side of the work, if i have time then yes, i will have a look at the issue try to fix it and if i do pass the findings on to the deleloper(s). Also remember that ROM's are always under development, even stable releases.
Q: What make Kaos Droid so special?
A: Besides me? The COMMUNITY! Kaos Droid was originally based around my needs and customisations and what i want. Not only that but the community has a lot of input in Kaos Droid, if they ask for a MOD, customisation or support for something it gets added which also makes the rom perfect for their needs, Kaos Droid started of as a small ROM the community spoke and the community got, its as simple as that.
Q: Why are you including requests from the community for somthing you don't or might not use?
A: Simple there are people/users out there that either don't know how or dont have the time to build a cusom ROM, and why not include the requests 99% of the time i actually use them, i have not had one request yet that i haven't used or thought it shouldn't be included.
Q: What's you aim for Kaos Droid?
A: That's easy: reliability, speed, customisation and hopefully being the best
Q: What made you decide to start building a custom ROM?
A: I liked the work other Dev's were doing and what they achived, so I thought to myself if they can do it so can I.

and much much more...
Might seem a little optimistic but it will all come eventually
NOTE:
I have made my own GAPPS and its placed in the root directory of both my goo.im and dev-host folders. its not that much different from the one that is on goo.im, But it does feature the aroma installer so you can select what apps you want rather than having to install them all. It is updated everytime i upload a new ROM making sure that all the gapps are upto date, the aroma installer will install them to the /system/app partition saving space in the userdata partition allowing you to install more apps/games

That is correct in the posts are just copied across for now so I could get the thread up and running if you have flashed this at any point on the Nexus 7 you will see that it is exactly the same except for a different device
Also there is one change clog for all devices what is a device specific change e.g. kernel being added will have the device name in brackets moving forward from this version
At the moment there is only the stock kernel included in this ROM the only one with an custom kernel is the Nexus 7
If you would like a specific kernel add in to the aroma installer let me know and it will get added for the next version

smoother and smoother, that's all i need
I don't think you can add kernels to Aroma installer, perhaps only modules.. the image needs to be flashed via fastboot, for HOX.

If supporting a new device with your ROM you should at least
inform yourself about the technical details!!!
Otherwise you would know that what you have written is not
applieable for the HOX.
Actually this thread currently gives me the impression that you
dont really know what you do
The ROM is very smooth and fast. I've tried it and i'm very impressed.
Flashed the gapps and all works well and battery friendly as not in other CM 10.1
Thanks to the developer !:good:
I had a lot of work today I guess I will try it tonight.. ... I should have been running it by now but still can't get to a pc

Ok, for those that think i dont have a clue at what im doing, i do. when i said i will add the kernel to aroma installer it was a reaction to the previous requests to the ROM
I know that the HOX is s-on and that you have to flash the boot.img via fastboot what was ment to be said was that it will get added to the zip so there's only one file to download.
I dont mind people correcting me if i'm wrong, however for someone to say i dont know what i'm on about, is way out of order, if i didn't know what i was doing i wouldn't have compiled the ROM in the first place never mind uploading it to a thread.
For those that want the extra kernels adding, i will repack them and add to the downloads section

Introduction
Hi all,
Please note KaosDroid is tested on the Nexus 7 (2012) grouper and soon will be tested on Nexus 7 (2013) flo
Based on AOSPAL, as always KaosDroid will be compiled from source, I sometimes do add features from other sources, just post on G+ if you want something adding.
This ROM is based around my needs with a little extra. It is exactly the same as KaosDroid for The Nexus 7 and other devices. I have just compiled it for the Nexus 10, for you to use
This ROM is not only based around my needs, its also built around the community's needs. In the past if they have asked for something to be included or changed in the ROM it has been done.
I have made my own GAPPS and its placed in the gapps directory of my goo.im folder. Its not that much different from the one that AOSPA has, It Includes all the common Google Apps and some extras. It is updated every time i upload a new ROM making sure that all the gapps are up to date.
I dont mind any critism at all as long as its constructive, any ideas are also welcome!

FAQ

Looks sweet! Gonna have to try it out...
Could you possibly add KTmanta kernel to aroma?
Also one feature I would love is full ui hdmi scaling(currently it mirrors the 16:10 res to the tv) ... I have no idea if this is possible or if this is a kernel thing as none of the other devs have answered me
Thanks for giving us another awesome option for our awesome device!!
Edit:shared to google+... You must have written that post while I was writing mine lol

I will add the kernel for the next build its not a problem and i will also look into the HDMI scaling
I will try to add both features for the next build
Awesome man thanks!
You will get a lot of people coming to your Rom if you figure out the hdmi
I would totally flash this for _motley's kernel alone, but I assume the OP is a copy/paste and not n10 specific. Other than Trinity are the other kernels working on n10??????
I know the faux kernel works with the nexus 10... That's what aokp uses... Dunno about motley though
No dice, install fails for me…

Many thanks for the output of the aroma installer I will look into this when I finish work, sorry
Also at the moment it is a copy and paste from the N7 thread I have only done this to get the thread started I will be editing it tonight
Just a note, the change log will remain the same across all devices, and device specific change will have the device name in brackets
At the moment the stock kernel is the only one included I am already adding a kernel to aroma and have no issue adding faux and motley for the next version

New file has been uploaded could someone please verify that it will flash properly
Thanks
Yeah- installed fine. Seems to run quite well, I like all the install options.
I haven't done much testing yet, but seems stable, no FCs yet.

Great ROM so far! Loving the auto hide TabletUI.
Just wondering if you had time to look at the hdmi scaling? I know you are covering a lot of devices
