[Q] While docked, can't adjust volume Bluetooth audio - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

While using the OEM dock, Bluetooth audio level is locked. I can adjust the volume with the up/down buttons, the level shows that it changed, but it is still at max. The problem is that at this setting while in the dock, audio is distorted. If I remove the phone from the dock, the level is adjustable again, and I can set it so it doesn't distort...

So I am the only one with this problem??

No, no you're not. I, too, have this problem. My attempts to leverage the collective knowledge of these forums has returned no useful results. In fact, most of the time it returns results that have proven negatively helpful to my situation.

[IDEA] Automatic volume control while listening to music

Hello everyone,
An idea just popped in my head, what do you think:
A program that changes the device volume/volume in the music-player according the noise it picks up from the outside via the phone's mic.
For example if you sit on a bus that has a pretty loud engine the music would become louder (preferably you can define by how much, maybe by defining a maximum, or assigning each noise level an arbitrary volume which is comfortable for you) but as soon as you get off the bus and the environment is a lot quieter it would drop down to normal/other predefined.
I googled a little bit, but couldn't find anything like, that, so what do you think? I don't consider myself as a programmer, so if any developers are interested feel free to actually make the program happen, I would be more than happy to use it.
Others: opinions are welcome!
Thanks,
DOMy
Honestly I'd be interested in something like that, but only to get white noise to try and lower environmental noise: I'd like volume changing ability only for the MP3 player, to recognize actual speed and turn up/down according to that. It's a feature you can find in stock, factory default car audio system (my wife's 2005 Micra, not a full optional, has got that), battery drain wouldn't be a problem as I always plug my ppc to the car cradle when I drive.

I get the idea exactly from the car-factories, the volume changing according to the speed works great

[Q] Volume Profiles - Bluetooth and Headphones should be seperate levels

I have a small issue that may not be possible to resolve, but I don't understand why they have a BlueTooth volume control when all of my BT headsets and car stereo have independent volume controls, thus negating the need for there to be a stock BT profile with volume. This is only an issue because when I am wanting there to be an option to always go 100% volume with BT and use my current Media Volume for headphones and speakerphone output.
Does anyone have a fix for this? I have a theory that this can be done via Tasker (if that is the consensus, I will work on it and post a how-to if this is a popular request), but if this is a development issue and requires some BT Profile modifications, I can open a request in Development rather than Q&A.
Am I the only one annoyed at this? Or are there users that benefit from the BT Volume profile?
I always get blasted when using headsets or can't hear when in the car thus invalidating the hands-free component while I reach for the phone to hit the Volume Up button...

Volume auto-lowers on headphone insert?

Connect your phone to a stereo with a standard 3.5mm audio cable and set media volume to max. Play some music, eject the cable, plug it back in, resume playing music. For some reason the audio volume is automatically lowered. Increasing it back to max works just fine but you do get a notification saying "Loud music may harm your hearing if you listen to it for a long time" while you do that.
I only listen to music in my car using aux 3.5mm. I control volume using the headunit and this "feature" is annoying as heck.
Any way to disable the volume auto-lowering?
thats the way all of them work, also was the same on old galaxy s device. happens on ipad also.
i think the reason is they dont want you blowing your brains out when you plug your headphones in if you forgot to turn down the media volume before you unplugeed them
I've been in HTC world for past 5 years and never had a need for such feature... all I'm trying to figure out is how to disable this on my new sammy
I listen via the 3.5 port in my car and can confirm the original Epic 4G did NOT behave this way. (At least not when running stock--Voodoo drivers did do this by default but you could override them.)
It pisses me off too and the NS4G never did this when I had it. I can live with it but just annoying.
I solved it through tasker. Not elegant, but it works.
true, also a hack... solves one problem but creates another. when i DO use headphones i set volume low and taking 3.5mm out and back in resets volume to max. ouch
i wonder if there is a way in Tasker to simply re-set volume to whatever it was just before 3.5mm was inserted.
Yea, you can do this. Create a variable to hold the volume, update it whenever the media volume is changed. When headphones are plugged it, just set the volume based on the variable. Imo, this wouldn't help much though. If you insist on playing media at max volume through your car, you're still going to blow up your ears when you plug in headphones.
I'd recommend setting the volume offset on your stereo (slack on some radios, I think) to be ideal when the phone is at the reduced volume. This is what I do.

the issue at hand is a bit more complex. consider this scenario:
i'm in a car driving and someone calls me.
i pop out the 3.5mm and answer the call.
once done talking, i pop 3.5mm back in and resume music.
now the volume is NOT what it was since sgs2 lowered it automatically trying to "save" my hearing.
similar story happens when i get out of my car for few minutes and upon coming back in i constantly have to turn the volume back up.
changing the in-car headunit volume is not helping since my cell is not the only device used there. there is built-in radio, built-in cd player, other portable players, etc that i (and others) use. no need to tweak main system just because one of many devices is being an #!$le about media volume.
ugh, still looking for a right solution. i'll go ahead and try to mess with tasker but that will be just patching the problem, not solving it

Keep Bluetooth and System Media Volume Separate?

I just bought this off of amazon and it arrived today. (It's a $25 Soundpeats bluetooth headphone).
After pairing it with my XL, I am greeted with trash sound quality when playing some music on Spotify. The headphone would distort when I'm turning up the volume via my phone. In no way am I blasting the volume (it's at 50% and it's still distorting like crazy). At first I thought it might've been a ViPER issue and turned off all the effects that I had on previously. Still no luck.
Next, I tried lowering the volume via phone and increased the volume of the headphone itself all the way.. And that's when I realized that the volume between the headphone and system were synced up. Whenever I increased the volume via headphone, the system volume would increase as well. Is there a way to keep the headphone volume and system media volume separate? Or is this something built-in with the headphones?
I tried pairing the headphones with my brother's Galaxy S8+, and volume controls for the headphones and system were separate! I turned the headphone volume all the way to max and controlled the volume mainly via the phone. Played a couple of songs off his S8+ using Spotify as well and I was able to achieve way better sound quality and louder volumes without distortion at all.
I figured that this might be software specifically related to the Pixel that's causing this. Anyone happen to have any ideas on what I could possibly do?
I'm trying to adopt to Bluetooth to be ready for the 2 XL, but so far the transition has been nothing but frustration.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
I use Volume Butler from the playstore, it works great for exactly what you are describing.

Prevent sound drops when low volume and using Bluetooth or USB-C adapter

I know this is not a thing only on the GS20 but since it's the phone I currently use I'm using this forum.
When using either a Bluetooth speaker or a USB-C to Jack 3.5mm adapter, I often encounter the following behavior:
When the media I'm playing has a low volume sequence, I remarked that my sound output basically stops entirely during that sequence, despite the media still having sound, it eventually comes back when the media's volume increases.
Take the following example:
A dialog between 2 characters, low background music or noises.
If both characters stop talking and my phone's volume is low, although the background noise or music can still be heard, my phone's simply stop producing any sound output until a character speaks again.
I can easily work around this by simply increasing my phone's volume, but then, when the characters start talking again, the volume is too high for me.
It's like there's a certain threshold below which the phone doesn't outputs sound.
This doesn't happen when I'm using the phone's speakers or when using the USB-C headset that came with the phone.
How can I prevent my phone from doing that?
