[Q] How to remove "Orange+" software ? - Defy General

I purchase a motorola defy as retail from a motorola distributor. On another hand i purchase sim card from "orange" provider.
i find in applications an "orange+" software. I can't delete this software.
what i can do ?

If your device is rooted, you can use for example Titanium Backup to delete system applications.

thank's but i can't root it.
i have 2.51.1 software.. and superoneclick or else don't work.

It should work...
1. check that USB debugging in settings/applications/development is turned off
2. connect your phone to your PC
3. set the connection mode to phone portal (pull down the statusbar)
4. start SuperOneClick, and click root
5. when it says: waiting for device, turn usb debugging on
6. wait some seconds, and it'll finish
7. reboot your phone
8. your device is rooted (you'll see SuperUser in the menu)
If your computer doesn't recognize you phone you should install Motorola Handset USB drivers: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/

I get this informations from SuperOneClick

Are you using this version of SOC? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913709 Is SuperOneClick running with admin rights?

You forgot step 5 from the above guide. Redo the steps exactly as the provided guide above.

My quess is that orange+ is a SIMtoolkit. Its part of the simcard. Simtoolkit usually part of your cell operator. It is customized menu from operator for easier use.
You can remove it, but I don't think it annoying if it is there. It won't eat any resources.
Try put the simcard in other phone, and if its there, then its confirmed.

Motorola support tell me than they have "pre-instal" some orange applications in their rom.....
but when i remove the sim card from orange and i replace it by one of another operator the application "orange+" disappear.
when orange+ is present the HOTSPOT app don't work. When i put the SIM car on another device (e.g. P3650 running windows mobile) there is no problem to use phone "hot spot" like functions.
what do you think about that ?

I don't think this will work. Try it if you want.
If you are rooted, goto /system/app/, rename stk.apk to stk.bak, reboot.
I think this will remove orange+ from menu. But I'm not sure 3G hotspot will work.

but there was no solution so far
I tried different android images from donut to eclair. currently I run polymod 2.1g.
with both I got no mobile network while WLAN works fine.
I tried different radio-version - at the moment 1.71.09.01
I also tested 2 different SIM-Cards from two different providers.
1. Reseller from T-Mobile Germany
2. Reseller from Vodafone (also Germany)
I have not flashed my mobile - I run Android from SD

Make sure you have 3G enabled under windows mobile. If it's disabled, android will only use 2g networks.
Edit.
Wait i might have jumped the gun. Are you saying that you cannot use mobile internet at all or just 3G?
Maybe your provider/providers data under Access Point names is incorrect?
Hi. I live in Taiwan. and go with Taiwan Cellur.
I have 3G enabled under WM, and I use the method as "NoMoRootFS Instructions for NAND".
I use [Myn’s Warm Donut RL5] with 1.7.1 NBH
You said APN. when I click APN , nothing shows up.

yes, I cannot use mobile internet at all. it does not show the available speed in the titlebar (H/3G/...) and it does not connect to mobile internet. browser just says it has no connection.
with wifi enabled everything is fine.
but maybe I have jumped the gun in claiming that I got the same problem than the thread owner... but I thought he has no mobile internet at all, too?
@hitakeane
with donut/1.6 I also had no APN-Entries in the menu and even the provider-list was empty. but with 2.1 this is working.
but mobile internet is not working for me with none of the constellations.
- not with donut and manual APN
- not with eclair and predefined APN
- not with eclair and manual APN
what I was thinking about this morning is: my phone had a netlock for D1. but I entered the official unlock-code from my provider (the phone is older than two years). But could it be that there is any lock left crashing the party?

Go to Access point name in settings invoke the settings menu and press add new access point. You should find all the required data on your gsm provider network.

Haven't tried until now. But it's running on my Kaiser now. But mobile internet is not working for me.
I really like to know what this is. Can't be that tricky when it is working for most of the people except for me and few others. Hm...
I asked google many times for the correct apn-setting. But I always end up with the same 2 settings that I have tried both.

I think that in a andboot folder you should have boot log file(or something like that) Look for errors in this file and post them here maybe someone will be able to help you. Also I remember reading somewhere a while ago that it's best to have one of newer winmo roms( 6.5, 6.5.1, 6.5.3, 6.5.5) when running android using haret.
I have seen a HTC Desire from a colleague this morning (also Android 2.1). Right above the submenu "Mobile Networks", where I can configure APNs and so on, he has a checkbox to enable/disable mobile network at all. This checkbox is missing for me. Should it be there?

what I don't understand: what has WinMo to do with Android. Ok, it is installed in NAND, but I thought it is not running either?
hi I had a problem simular to this took me days to figure out a temp fix, if your running haret/win mob rather than nand, if you connect to the internet/3g before you start haret, it sometimes picks up 3g ok.

you think it could be that the problem is gone when I flash Android to nand?
so the only thing preventing me from flashing is the not working mobile internet. if that was working I would make android my every day operating system for the next time.
maybe i'll give flashing a try later if this solves the problem.
the only thing I'm not sure about is if I understood it right how to come back to my shipped rom.
I got the update from 6.0 to 6.1 from T-Mobile (mda-vario.exe), I started that one and copied all the files from Windows-Temp-folder to an other place. In this folder there is a RUU_signed.nbh, is this a full rom I can flash to go back to WM 6.1?
To get me right - I'm not asking how to do this - I just want to know if this file should be a full image that I can use as backup or if this is just an update-file.
I think it is always a full image, right?
(can't find german t-mobile rom in wiki - so I hope I can use this)
hi, I set APN and it works.
though it's quite unstable.
any ideas to improve it? thanks all.
another question.
I remembered I saw at somewhere about low disk space.
I installed some software and ran out of disk, yet I have a 16G micro sd.
how should I do with this? thanks.
I'll keep on searching.

Well I'm just repeating what I've heard. Since you run android using HAret from WINMO then the version of Winmo might have something to do with your problem.
But yeah go ahead and try NAND it might solve the issue.

The rom files you copied may be just an update, however since it was a 6.0 to 6.1 upgrade I expect it'll be a full stock rom, one way to tell would be to place the NBH file on SD card, rename to KAISimg.nbh, enter bootloader, ( power+camera), and look at what it says it will update, a full update will include OS, RADIO, SPL and possibly SPLASH.
You do not need to continue the update, just pull the battery, or press dpad, it will cancel the flash, don't press the power button tho, because then it will flash it
Another rough guide would be file size, a full 6.1 rom is around 100MB or so.
If you choose to go Nand, remember to unlock your SIM pin before flashing, also make certain you have installed HardSPL, just in case
ok, I was hoping for an answer like 'you stupid noob, there are no update-roms, every rom is a full rom'
That would have made it much easier
But your answer was nearly as helpful, thank you zenity.
- filesize is 99MB (seems to be fine)
- it says it will update RADIO_V2, BOOTLOADER, SPLASH1, OS (should be all)
- in wiki the download-link for NL t-mobile-rom goes to the t-mobile-site. So I interpret the NL-rom to be a full one. So german could be a full one, too
To be sure I dumped my own device so I can try to reconstruct this to a nbh-file if the other rom won't work
- HardSPL is already installed (I flashed some radios before)
- SIM pin is already unlocked, too (didn't work with PIN for Haret so I had to unlock)
That's enough backing for me - otherwise I got a good reason to buy a new device
Thanks to all helping me up to this point.
I'll give NAND a try later this day and post some feedback.
ok, flashed it yesterday and mobile network works like a charm.
only thing is, menu item "Mobile Network" is still missing so I can't disable mobile network. but by using a widget for home screen I can en-/disable mobile network (without changing apn)
flashing was really easy - thanks to all doing such a great job in bringing Android to Kaiser.
Also thanks to all helping me in this thread.

bricked phone - used ruu but no network signal?!!

hi guys,
so i have a serious problem, probably my own fault, but hopefully someone here can help me out!...
so earlier today my phone restarted itself, then when it came back on i lost all funtionality in my SDcard, then lost usb recognition to windows! so after reading all and many failed attempts i decided to use a ruu (RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe) to restore it to hopefully working condition...
so it worked fine, it booted up, sim card was recognized.. but then within a few seconds my network operator is no long working, (works in old phone and my old sim works in this one) .. when i go to network operators, search networks, i click on orange and it just says 'your sim card does not allow connection to this network'
i have a unbranded desire, did i use the wrong ruu?!
any ideas guys?! im going insane here!
* oh and i formatted sd card to fat32, and now that just says unrecognised!
How long you have this phone?
I suspect it may be network barred which it block to use UK network because it has been report lost or stolen the phone IEMI# will be enter in their blacklist.
i have had it 5 months i think, but the sim card i have works in my old phone still?
how would it become barred becuase i returned to what i think is a default ruu?
Not sure, I'm not best person to solve.
Maybe RUU error, because I cannot find Orange RUU in XDA for some reasons.
I can see there is T Mobile, Vodafone etc but no Orange on list.
ok, thanks... i have just noticed something else now...
when connecting my usb to pc, it isnt recognized anymore so i check device manager and it now displays 'qualcomm cdma technologies msm' in other devices!
did the ruu somehow change my phone from gsm to cdma?!
i have tried selecting gsm only in network options but my desire wont let me!
Sound like a USB brick. Try this.
thanks mate,
having trouble though...
i have got to the point of installing terminal emulator but cant issue even the first command.. just says permission denied or directory nonexsistent!
You probably need root, are you rooted again after the ruu? If yes first type "su". If not and unrevoked doesn't work maybe try visionary to temp root.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
no, i cant root because i cant connect to the pc to use unrevoked... are there always ways to root?
apart from the apk you just suggested which i will try now...
my network signal is now back on, my sdcard is now recognized again thanks to a code i found to use in fast boot...
just need to restore the usb functionality now!

P800 chinese dual sim Android - upgrade to 2.2.1

I have this P800 dual sim that runs on Android 2.2 (which in fact I think it is 2.1) and a Chinese Ingenic JZ4760 CPU (600 mhz), 256 RAM, 256 ROM. It has capacitive screen, GPS and Wi-fi. I'm desperate to install Android 2.2.1 on it for some tweaks and I don't know how because I'm new at this. I contacted the supplier but he couldn't help me with this.
Main problems:
1. Where can I find a working ROM for this so I`ll still have the dual sim option? Can't I just install a ROM from any other chinese dual sim or it has something to do with the drivers, CPU on the phone? I saw the hero H6 modding thread here on xda..
2. How do I make a full back up of the phone so I can go back to the original settings if something goes wrong?
3. How do I install new ROM without bricking it?
4. Is it absolutely necessary to root before I install the new Android?
If you want more information about kernel, hardware or anything else I can tell you from "Android system info" application that I installed on it. I might be a noob but I can learn really fast.
Please help! I just need you people to point me into the right direction.
To see the phone just search "P800 Android" on google

this files was taken from russian forum (forum .china-iphone .ru / viewtopic .php?f=22&t=11424)
Thank you for this. I will try it. I just have some questions: who made this firmware? and why don`t they talk in english so everybody can understand? I need to know if anyone used this firmware and if there will be updated firmwares in the future.
This firmware is made by manufacturer of p800, "rooted" system.img repacked by enthusiast from Israel. I'm and other users from topic about p800 of forum china-iphone.ru use this firmware. Reseller in China promise to send newer firmware on this week. As soon as it happen, link will be available at that topic.
On that forum everybody talk in Russian and foreign-speaking peoples uses Google-translate service to understand us.
For me, for example, English is not comfortable. (I think you can see it in my posts because my grammar).
When the new firmware is available can you please post a link in this topic too?
And since you use this firmware can you tell me if some of the problems I have, are solved? For example:
-Android market working?
-proximity senzor
-microphone
-did you get rid of all those useless chinese applications?
-is it Android version 2.2 or 2.2.1?
-wireless working?
-bluetooth working (sending/receiving)
-both cameras working?
-GPS navigation with iGO working?
-if you reset the phone at factory settings do you lose the IMEIs?
what did you do to install this firmware?
Is adobe Flash and adobe reader working? what about yahoo messenger?

Ok, I'll post link to new firmware, when it will exist.
Mic on my phone working excellent, Android 2.2, proximity sensor worked on Z800_2.2GG_FLV01.01B11, but on Z800_2.2GG_FLV01.01B16 it is not working, both cameras taking photos, but not video. GPS works with (download .osmand .net /latest-night-build/OsmAnd-stable.apk). Wifi is ok. I didn't here about loosing IMEI by this device. I didn't use Andr. market. Now when you have root access you may uninstall everything yourself.
would you please see if the bluetooth, android market, flash player and yahoo messenger is working? Do I need offline maps for OsmAnd to work?

Hi,
I've questions about this phone. I've see this chinese model with new processor and dual sim support. On the paper it seems a very nice product:
http://www.shanzai.com/index.php/ma...00-phone-running-on-a-chinese-made-jz4760-cpu
but the problem is when i want to find to buy this product
1. is only in english or chinese (french is my mother tongue)
2. i had 3 p/n z800 or p800 or pz800 (in russia)
3. in some site it claims it's a MTK6515 cpu inside and is only a fake on the system properties for the p800
4. in all site it claims 256 ram and 512 rom, but in this topic you say 256/256
for exemple here for P800:
http://www.fastcardtech.com/goods-5...droid+22+os+GPS+Dual+sim+card+phone+wifi.html
and here for z800:
http://www.lightake.com/detail.do/s...iFi_JAVA_GPS_Qaud_Band_GSM_Smart_Phone_-37579
Where is the truth?
Finally if it's really the new Ingenic CPU, it's really better than a MTK6516?
Thanks for you advice

Hello.
1. Android on this phone (like on other) is multilingual (French exist exactly)
2. As i know p800 = z800 = pz800.
3. If it will be useful to you I can say that i owned Toshiba portege g810 for 1.5 years, p800 is really better. It is not so fast as HTC HD2, but not so slow as Toshiba Portege g810.
4. I don't know about it's ROM and RAM, beside it is enough for me.
Now some useful application are not installable on p800, but i believe that new firmware will made progress in this.
Some users said, that old versions of firmware had problems with low sensitive mic, now it is ok.
Till now the preamp level of speaker are too high, that is why not comfortable to use it on max volume.
And the 3rd difficulty us in setting up navigation software, people says, that it is impossible to install iGo or navitel (OsmAnd is workable).
The next problem is inability of setting max ringer alert volume, when speaking volume is not on the max level.
The quality of materials and manufacturing are high.
Oh, i forgot to say about excellent touch and bright (suppose AMOLED) screen.
The CPU model is jz4760
P. S. In store where i bought it the details are mistaken too ( www .aliexpress .com /fm-store/403972/210660520-441180847/Hot-Selling-2011-Android-2-2-Phones-P800-phones-with-gps-wifi-java-dual-sim-dual.html)

I tried to root with SuperOne Click to make a full backup in case something goes wrong but it didn`t work and I opened USBbootTool.exe but it`s in chinese and I don`t know what to do. A video tutorial would be really nice..
Step 1. Installing the driver loader.
0. Unpack the archive with the firmware.
1. Turn off the phone, remove battery.
2. Hold down the "volume up" button and connect to the cable.
3. Remove your finger from button. =)
4. PC will find new device and ask the driver (is sited in the "uboot_driver" folder).
5. after installing the driver to turn off the phone from cable.
Step2. prepearing Root
1. Replace file "system.img" in "img" folder with "system.img" from dedicated archive.
Step 3. Flashing:
1. Run USBBootTool.
2. Turn off the phone, detach battery.
3. Hold down the "volume up" button on the phone and connect USB-cable.
3 1/2. remove your finger from button.
4. The process will start automatically.
5. After flashing you'll see Chinese dialog window - it ask you to enter the serial number of 14 digits that has no matter.
6. After that, just insert the batteries, and power on your phone.
Warnings
1. This oeration will DELETE all your custom files, thats why backup phonebook to SD-card or to PC
2. Connect USB-cable to backplate of your PC and use original cable or better if possible.
3. Win 7 x64 didn't install that driver. You must use x86 (32bit) windows versions.

Thank you for the reply. Where can I get that serial number? And what do you mean it doesn't matter? What settings did you had in USBbootTool? Mine is in chinese.

Hi!
I didn't fill serial number at all, somebody fill this with random digits.
USBbootTool is in Chinese, all settings are correct, you do not need to change anything there. Just follow the instruction.
Good luck!
Thank you very much. It works.
1. After you unpack the archive the Z800_2.2GG_FLV01.01B16_生产版本 folder must be renamed to Z800_2.2GG_FLV01.01B16
2. The steps were correct but I don`t know how to verify that it`s rooted
3. Like you said it didn`t work on my Win 7 x64 so I went to my neighbor who had Win XP
4. I put 11111111111111 when it asked for serial number and it worked so it doesn`t matter indeed
5. Proximity senzor not working at all
6. Android keyboard missing (Sogou Input instead)
7. The name of the operators still doesn`t appear in notifications just like before. There are just some numbers: 22610 for Orange and 22603 for Cosmote
8. USSD code for Cosmote still not working. *123*2# - This is for showing me how many messages I have left on Cosmote.
I will test different applications so I can see what's working and I`m waiting for updated firmwares from you. Thanks again. You`ve been very helpful. There should be more people like you.

Thank you for comment.
I'm just translating information from Russian topic. And giving my experience of using this phone.
2. To verify rooting i'd install Root Explorer and now it is possible to set RW parametr on system folders. Some application start workig after changing firmware, before this apps said that root permission missed.
5. Yes, proximity sensor is not used by interface in this firmware.
6. Android keyboard are able to be selected. For example, open messages and choose creating of new SMS then made long press on text field and tap "select input method" appeared, you need to choose "Guboi alphabetic..."
7th & 8th problems are nod fixed yet
Hello everyone, I have the same phone and when I was trying to root it start making problems and then it's not booting anymore, so this firmware is very important to me, I'm in United Arab Emirates and it's almost impossible to download from Rapidshare. So can anyone be kind and upload both of the firmware to any other site midiafire will be great if possible
http://www.mediafire.com/?ptgu7rdps2gjd22
http://www.mediafire.com/?5j53v5x0zg6zc1c
At the end just wait until it doesn`t do anything anymore(just be patient), then unplug the cable, put the battery and power it on(don`t put the battery with the cable pluged, you could distroy the battery). The booting will take a little longer than before.
If you can root it, please tell me how you did it..

TCT-Alcatel Move

Hi XDA geeks , pros and fans !
I'd like to start this new threadline concerning the freshly-appeared TCT MOVE handheld device marketed for the budget segment. As i understand it appeared in march or later this year and has quite good specs for the approx. 100 euro category.
Some details can be found on
http://alcatelonetouch.com/products/smartphones/move
Contrarily to some beliefs IT IS NOT a branded OT-908 ,rather a cosmetized one .It comes in black or silver / white , a bit heavy for it's size , and higher specs than the OT-908.
Concerning the hardware specs, i'll be coming back later with some accurate chipset and sensor details. For now
OS is Android Froyo v2.2.2.Looks like there will be official ROM updates,at the time being there is the OneTouch Upgrade v1.2 ,which downloads about 540 Mb chunked firmware files, and exits with error.
Memory is 512 Mb RAM , for user space is available about 300 Mb
512 Mb ROM flash, available to user about 160Mb.
SD card slot supports up to 32Gb MicroSD, the phone comes with a 2Gb one.
Camera is a 2.1Mpixel one. There is no secondary one,but the main camera is available for video calls, with Yahoo! Messenger i tested it myself. How to use it this way i will explain later.
GPS is amazing , if assistance software is used , the lock-on takes only seconds.
Sensors - linear acceleration sensor
- 3 axis orientation sensor
- 3 channel magnetic field sensor (digital compass)
- light sensor for illuminance detection
- optical proximity sensor , it seems not in use by operating system(or rather poorly)
Processor - 600 MHz Qualcomm ARMv6 compatible, min frequency is 122 Mhz, and deep sleep capability.Qualcomm MSM 7627 chipset
rooting ?
hi djada80.i should like to ask if you managed to root your phone ?
Yeah , it's quite simple. There are in the Android Market some free apps , i think the best which i also use is the one named Ginger Break.Just download and install it.Detailed usage info can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
firmware upgrade
it seems that the branded ones somehow cannot be upgraded ! at this point i need assistance , so PLEASE , if there is anybody experienced in debranding Acatel smartphones, then YOU ARE MOST WELCOME !.I saw guys having problem with debranding T-Mobile Move , so let's DO IT !
cannot sync with windows
i cannot sync my tmobile move with windows.have a toshiba satellite c665 with win 7 .pls help !
connect phone to computer, enable usb tethering.install alcatel android manager on computer. Can be found here
alcatelonetouch.com/contents/download/T-Mobile_AndroidManager_2.2.1108.1645.rar
This should work, instead of Android Sync Manager WiFi ,the last has some issues with this phone ,do not use it.
Yahoo! messenger front camera
Contrarily to some beliefs THERE IS POSSIBLE TO MAKE VIDEO CALLS with front camera only on Froyo 2.2.It is quite simple:
1.) if you have any version of yahoo apps , remove them all
2.) install Y!Messenger v1.3.2 , the afferent audio and video plugin and
optionally Y!Mail v1.3.2
Nothing fancy with it , just works.Remember, DO NOT UPDATE from Market.
Might also check this,if it doesn't work

remove bundled apps ?
Hi !
Is there a way to remove some of the unnecessary factory shipped apps ?
RE
Yes , there is. So the smart method vould be to remove them from phone memory , and eventually install it on SD Card , if they are (and they are) UNMOVABLE.
Or just leave them ,anyway a factory reset will restore all the shipped applications.
1.) [optional] install Android SDK with platform 2.2 , sdk tools and eventually drivers.Enable USB debugging on device. On PC launch command prompt and change directory to \Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\.Run command
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2
This enables SDCARD installation by default.Prerequisits to have ROOT ACCESS.
2.) with RootExplorer simply delete unwanted applications from \custpack\apps\ on device.Optionally you can make backups.
3.) if you made backups , the backed-up apk can be used to be reinstalled , NOW ON SD CARD
Good luck.
RE again
A reboot of the device is required to cleanup the junk after a forced delete.Or it can be done manually , BUT USE CAUTION.
i have an alcatel move branded Cosmote Move, i like this phone very much but i`ve managed to brick it the second time, first time i bricked and took it to waranty, they reinstall the software free of charge, now it has the same simptoms (pass the carrier logo and get stuck to carrier animation) and i need to send it to waranty again. i dont manage to get it unbricked. i`ve root it with gingerbreak but this phone doesnt go to recovery mode. i`ve searched the internet and google it for hours, but nothing.
if anyone knows how to do it please tell me, in the user manual says hard reset vol - and power, get stuck whit touch buttons light up and screen black!!
thanks in advance
re Themaster
it's not a brick yet i suppose , though you didn't specify how you managed to "brick" your phone.a nice clean reflash would solve the problem , probably you deleted some system files while in root mode.again did you use root explorer or something similar ?
try a factory reset as it follows:
1.) turn off the phone
2.) press vol up and the power on and hold the buttons pressed for about 1 minute
3.) the phone boots up , android logo appears and then an animation with some sort of thrashcan or whatever
4.)wait until it finishes , then the phone shuts down automatically.power on the phone and it will be restored
Beware ,battery must be at least 70 % charged or kept in charger , NOT USB connected to PC.
This restores phone to factory state , but not all the applications from /custpack/apps
Best regards !
Useful Key Combinations
These keypress modes apply on a shut down phone
Hard Reset - reinstalls android core system from ROM , deletes user data and misconfig
key combo : vol up + power on long pressed until trashcan animation appears
Flash Mode - used for ROM update , useless momentarily
key combo: vol down + power on long pressed , black screen appears and touch buttons lit up
Root access , mount filesystem with root access ,DANGEROUS !
key combo : home + power on long pressed until boot
build environment under Ubuntu
Lately, there has been some problems setting up an Android build environment under Lucid Lynx, as i've seen many have been complained for the missing java5 jdk.
For Romanian users: seems to be a problem with the Romtelecom DNS servers , when adding Jaunty or Dapper repositories to Lucid.
Use Google DNS as alternatives 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.This works.
From what I've been able to determine. The move and 908(s) are the same hardware with with only cosmetic differences. Something is different in software, I've been unable to root my 908s with ANY tools I've found.
I was also unable to use ADB under windows. The handset apparently requires four drivers, I was only able to find three of them. I got the Alcatel tools to work, as well as tethering, but no ADB. i didn't have any such issues under Ubuntu, but without root it isn't helpful.
I could not locate a stock rom or source anywhere on the Alcatel sites, so I sent a GPL request, i'm waiting to hear back.
UPDATE
After a long night I managed to root my 908s. I'll write out the jist of it, but I was flying by the seat of my pants, fueled by caffeine and sleep depervation. DON'T consider this a HOWTO.
First off, to the best of my knowlage there is no one click solution as of yet. As I said before still missing the driver that makes ADB work in windows, and handset based solutions didn't pan out. A little reasearch showed that the OT-990 has the same chip/ram and ROM space as ours. The screen is bigger, and I don't know what board is in it, but on a hunch I figured it was close enough. So I went here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164391 in the hopes that some sort of combined effort in future ROM development would be possible.
Yes that's right folks its a guide to MANUALLY root you handset with ADB. So not for the faint of heart. I didn't have high hopes, as issuing ls -l on either the sqlite folder or data threw a permission denied. So blindly I tried to push psneuter, busybox and su to /data/local. I almost fell off my chair when it worked! from there I used psneuter to get ADB into root, and managed to get the su binary to /system/xbin, and Superuser into /system/app. Superuser was installed, but still no root. So I checked out Root Checker to see what was going on. There are three places that su typically lives; /system/xbin, /system/bin, and /sbin. So I tried to put su in those folders. I got it into /system/bin but sbin is mounted read-only. I did not remount any directories, as the instructions are lacking syntax (I'm a little rusty with advanced mounting commands). I think things are mapped a little differently anyway. I still did not have root on the handset, so I then fired up Superuser to see what it could see. It saw the su binary, even though it wasn't working right. Then I thought well if it can see it, then maybe it can update and fix it. Sure enough after running the update to su in Superuser, (drumroll please...) I had working root.
So that's my story so far, I'm gonna give Alcatel a week or so to reply to my request. Then we'll take it from there. (Hey it worked on Huewei right?)
If a real dev should come across this, feel free to jump in. Its a solid little phone and has the potential to work on a range of handsets.
Gratitude
Thanks snkiz for your attention ! I am pleased that someone 'heavy' noticed my efforts of dedicating this threadline to the newcomer ! Indeed a small little phone with potential , maybe in time we get it gingerbread , cupcake ( or whatever ),even wm6.5 or 7 ...
As of ADB drivers , i had ADB from the first by these steps:
1.) http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/contents/download/move upgrade 1.2 Setup.rar , package contains the drivers
Now i noticed that when i try firmware upgrade , the utility downloads about half a giga of *.bin files and then exits with 'download failed error'.
2.) installed Android SDK , platform tools and Google drivers (i am not sure if necessary), the 2.2 platform (api 8)
Under Win7 cmd in platform tools , adb shell , su and on device pops up 'unknown has been granted superuser rights' and voila! in cmd shell i have '#'.Previously installed Gingerbreak.
My device is a Cosmote Move.
Ya, no I got that file too. I think they are "consumer drivers" because like I said I got all the Alcatel tools running but on my win 7 one driver was still missing, and I have pretty good googlefu. effin hate windows, this is why. I'm by no means a "heavy" but I am comfortable in a Linux environment, that helps alot. As to you being able to get gingerbreak to work, i'd bet that comes down to carrier firmware.
---------- Post added at 06:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:39 PM ----------
djada, seeing as your the op could you please re-tag the thread with the model numbers to make it easier to find? cosmote, 908, 908s, and qualcom should do.
perhaps a mod could move this thread to the android hacking forum where it can get the proper attention please?
ADB driver
Driver files are from WHATEVER.\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver\ , if does not install automatically , can be forced.Anyway Win$ux 7 detects ADB interface , installs some sh.t from windows update server , and you'll have an ADB interface in Device Manager (working or not).Try to force the google drivers.
On the other hand ,i'm sorry but dunno how to move the thread , maybe i should start a new one in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=565&order=desc&page=552
Just looked at it and they don't have Alcatel
Mod
Just started workin on a Cyanogen build , if i manage to build at least a kernal img , maybe i can lure in the Koush guy from github. We are in need of flash , backup , recovery tools. Not as lucky as the Samsung or HTC guys ...

VOLTE Success, Activation without Firmware Replacement (Sony Mobile withdrawal area)

Hello Xperia users! In the meantime, I finally solved the VOLTE problem! I approached Qualcomm's diagnostic port-active-efsExplorer and solved the problem by inserting a VOLTE profile from my carrier
Sorry, this is Korea and I am Korean.
However, I will write down the method in English.
Unlike previous 1&5, Qualcomm's diagnostic port cannot be opened.
opening command
I don't even know. I don't think so.
So it's a little different from before.
I tried to force it open.
debugging connection
Open the Command Proposal window.
adb shell input
su input
Do you want to allow shell on your phone?
prompt acceptance of permission
Then the $ shape changes to #.
Now
setprop persist.usb.eng 1
Copy paste entry. Please enter
And you're gonna be out there during tethering.
In My Computer Item
View Device Manager.
Please turn debugging back on.
Of course, no access.
If you turn on debugging again,
I've already set it up, so it looks like that.
Among them, there is a product model named XQ-AT52.
There are four yellow exclamation points in total.
Manually update driver Press [port] to list the manufacturers
It's called Qualcomm hs-usb-diagh and 9091. with this
I need a manual update. gogo
Now run the EFS Express.
Press 0 on the ROW and OK.
(ROW or SF_Default)
Oh, it takes a long time. I thought it stopped.
It opens if you stay still. LOL
It's open. How nice to see you here!
I am the Korean telecommunication company EFS file extracted from xperia1.
I used it. If you need VOLTE,
XPERIA1 (Modem).Extract from SIN file
I will use the Korean communication file.
Just drag it and put it in a folder.
v check and Yes
There'll be folders that don't exist while you're pulling them in.
Then make it and put the file in.
In the folder where you can view this red file,
Drag and drop the file twice.
The reason is that once you do it, you just go in.
The red file is not updated.
That's how the numbers at the back change when you renew.
So make sure to put it in twice.
Files beginning with NV do not have folders.
Put it on top.
It's over now!

It's hidden in XPERIA1 firmware.
After downloading the firmware via Xperia Pim, change the extension to Modem.img in the Modem.sin file and extract it to the compression program (7z) to view the folder! Surprisingly, the world's telecommunications company VOLTE EFS file is hidden. +_+ Take advantage of it! You can open the VOLTE menu through the magazine module.
Hi, why don't you show by video or pictures. The windowns language is English. ???
Attach the necessary software.
Thanks
I estimate, its only possible by unlocking/rooting the phone?
how to
Even with the great contributors' information, I think there are a few areas where I struggle.
For additional information, I will post my success stories.
I'm posting them in machine translation. Please forgive me if it's hard to read.
STEP 1: Implement the Tools You Need
Please install the following tools.
QPST(QPST_2.7.460)
Qualcomm-hs-usb-diagnostics-9091-952454(DIAG driver)
Flashtool (and XperiaFirm)
newflasher(INSTALL is unnecessary, but please get it.)
*All of the above were available on the internet as of 8/15.
STEP2: Get a "modem" that supports VoLTE.
As a prerequisite (regardless of the DualSim/SinglSim model)
For countries that want to use VoLTE, SONY is offering
  Official firmware is required.
  In my example.
Purchased model: XQ-AT52 (for Hong Kong)
The country where you want to use it: Japan -> SO-51A is available.
(The difference in the number of slots in the SIM doesn't affect it. )
  This is the case.
If the firmware to run VoLTE does not exist in the country where you want to use it
  This method does not work.
The annotations are long, but here are the steps.
Use XperiFirm, provided by SONY in the country where you want to use VoLTE.
   Download the firmware.

STEP3: Use the newflasher to write the firmware from STEP2 to your Xperia 1 ii.
In this case, if you want to burn into a model with a different number of SIM slots
Example: Writing SO-51A firmware to XQ-AT52
→The SIM will not be recognized, but it is temporary.
STEP4: Use EFS Explorer to get the necessary files.
Follow the steps of the great htcmage and have your Xperia 1 ii recognized by EFS Explorer.
  4-1: Install the QPST.
4-2:Install Magisk on your Xperia 1 ii.
Therefore, it is mandatory to unlock the bootloader.
4-3:Execute the commands at the command prompt as follows.
    adb shell
su
setprop persist.usb.eng 1
Magisk's permission is now required to get SuperUser privileges in su.
Note: From the Magisk menu, go to "# SuperUser" and click on
     You can allow.
4-4: The debug mode is disconnected, so you need to re-enable it.
4-5: If you have installed the qualcomm-hs-usb-diagnostics-9091-952454 (DIAG driver), you can use
It is recognized by EFS Explorer.
4-6: On the Phone Selectio screen, Banner selects the ROW port.
STEP 5: Back up the files required for VoLTE activation.
Before following the steps below, you must have the SIM of the line/carrier you want to enable VoLTE on.
    Please plug in.
I have backed up the following folders.
There may be some things you don't need, but at least it works.
   Data_Profiles
efsprofiles
Ims.
nv/item_files/datamodem
nv/item_files/ims
nv/item_files/mcfg
nv/item_files/modem
STEP6: Write the firmware you want to use, and copy the file from STEP5 to
   Override.
Follow steps 3 to 4 of STEP 3 to 4 to get the firmware you want to use.
Write & make EFS Explorer recognize it. (Don't remove the SIM.)
Then, overwrite it with the files backed up in STEP 5.
You should probably now have VoLTE available.
Thanks to the person who walked me through the Magisk installation process, and to the great htcmage.
Also, I pray that others wandering in the same sea of information will be saved.

Hello, you are so cool Thank you so much for organizing the guide. I hope it helps many xperia 1 II users ah! I opened the volte-related menu without changing the firmware using the magical module. The reason is that the buildprop cannot be modified for this xperia1 II
pa// Attached file for used module
Has anyone had success doing this on the Xperia 5 ii ?

Volte Success ^0^ About IMS
VOLTE OK
Confirm Video Calls
It was such a hard time for me!
I was sad because I couldn't get help.
With 5G mobile phones in 2020,
It was terrible to be on the 3G phone.
If there's someone like me,
This information will help you a lot.
Finally, Marktu
Buy! Buy two! I love it.

Do you loose 5g support after this method?
Does your mobile restart after changing the data carrier from Sim1 to Sim2?

Hi! We have the same model, where did you sim unlocked your device?

how to
Even with the great contributors' information, I think there are a few areas where I struggle.

I used a software called S1 Unlock Tool. You need to buy a credit from this website: https://networkunlocking.com/shop/sony-xperia-cable-unlock-0-counter-supported/. There is also a link to download the software. Along with unlocking your phone it will also grant you access to unlock your bootloader if you wish to do so. I did this and tried to root my phone but I wasn't successful, it just soft bricked my phone and was stuck in a boot loop. I had to use Xperia Companion to restore my phone. Maybe you can't root the Japanese variants, I'm not sure. I saw on here on another forum that you can root the Xperia 1 II.
