what is the most stable android 2.3 sense 2.1/3.0 rom? and what is the one with the best battery life?
sense 3.0 is synergy or mikg's rom.
how is the battery life on synergy's?
best battery life and the Evo are a contradiction. As much as we all love our phones the Evo's battery sucks plain and simple. If you like AOSP based ROM's there is MIUI and CM which should get good battery life for the Evo. If you like sense based ROM's any of the new Synergy based ROM's (Virus, Mik, Myn) should do you just fine. I am rocking Mik's 1.3 synergy based ROM and battery life is on par with my tricked out 2.2 RLS5

how is the battery life on this rom and how does it compare to mik's?
i would start with a fresh install of the ROM
- Factory reset
in AMON's recovery
- Flash Calk's wipe all
- factory reset
- wipe all cache's
- wipe SD-EXT
- Flash ROM
Then i would let it boot up and slowly add back your apps and use apps like system panel and spare parts to check what is eating your battery. High temp also saps the battery. Also turn off GPS, data (use wifi instead when applicable), always on data in mobile settings etc to limit your battery drain.

I noticed this, too, after the 1.02 or 1.03 update, I believe. Not as bad as you're mentioning, but definitely a drop off in performance. I also felt that the latest upgrade seemed to be a bit more Kathy than before. I've gone back to AOSP (Deck's) for now, and will probably check Mik's next iteration and see if things are a bit more sorted out.
One big change after 1.01 is the Mik got the Sense widgets updating more reliably, I wonder if that's the cause of the increased battery drain?

I need to know the best kernel i'm currently on netarchy's 4.18 i and I have seen kingkilcks but I flash his #8 cfs but it made my phone lag alot and #7 seem to run battery down, but I can't be positive cuz I didn't run it for more than an hour...basically I wanna know wut's the best kernel for battery life? or opinions at least
Running snaps 7.5 or. 6 don't recall ATM but the battery life is crazy
from the fade
Kings #9 is pretty close to the new stock kernel ...
I'm having the best luck with Netarchy's 4.1.9.1 beta on my 002 EVO. I don't even have to use SetCPU to underclock for more battery that's how nice the kernel is.
I agree with cMeka
I am running Baked Snack 1.7 ROM with Kings BFS#9 kernel and the battery life is awesome.
P.S. Battery life got even better on Kings #9 after uninstalling SetCPU. SetCPU interferes with H/AVS and defeats the purpose.
Good Luck!

no, it isnt. none of the king kernels are. they are waaaay out of date, and it turns out, kingklick just stole most of the code from other devs. either use netarchy's newest, or ziggy's newest. thats mostly all you have for sense.
Personally, any sense rom can drain battery, but the best i have seen is Baked Battery Kernel. Awesome battery life and it is very fast.

oh not ota 3.70 based. that's probably why it works. any kernel not 15 based usually gets terrible results on 3.70 ota so i guess you found a loophole there . i did hear very good things about that kernel so glad to know it can still be applied to good work.
I am getting good results with ziggy (calkulin rom) and suggesting to try it.

Most of the time i do use Cyanogenmod instead because, everybody knows, it has a wayyyyyy better battery life. Sense needs an app freezer, like titanium backup pro, so that they dont just start up again.

I'm not opposed to using a different rom, I just haven't gotten in to that area yet. Where's a good place to read about "sense" and different types of roms and reasons for using particular ones? Appearance I guess is the main reason? I'm just about ready to dive of this cliff. Thanks!
so, i get a hair up my butt every couple weeks or so and load up a new rom. there are certainly some good ones out there (thanks to all you coders!). but i always wind up going back to stock. between the features of sense and the stability and the non-fc's, it just seems to work best for me.
but, if i could eek a little more performance out of the stock rom, i wouldn't say no to that. so, can anyone recommend a kernel that runs well on the stock rom (no fc's!) and can get me a little more oomph? there seems to be quite a few, and instead of trial and error, i thought someone here might know...
thx!

i have the same question, i dont want to flash a new rom if i can get good kernel that might extend battery life. ive been looking a while and it looks like i might have to finally try the heyitslou kernel

it means you can use from 3 to 10 fingers simultaneously.

I personally like Chad's incredikernals. Great battery and oc'd to 1113
The most stable kernel and best on battery that I have used is the virtuous custom kernel (v3). It has worked great with several roms I have used.
Im running chads 12/23 kernel for sense and it gives me great battery life (which for me is 16-20 hours) and im running magnolia 1.1.1 rom

+1 ...his kernels rock with sense and battery life!!!
Lou's #9 has given best battery life for me on virtuous, redemptive, and warm 2.2 roms. Quadrants scores are also on par if not better with it
not to take anything away from lou or his work, but that kernel wound up not working well for me; lots of hangs and fc's. went back to the stock kernel today and everything is *****en! thx to all for your input.

You'll be fine with either.
Hard to say, I tried cm many times over the years and now I just switched from sense 3.0 to deck 1.2 w a savaged zen 2.2.1 cfs kernel. Everything booted extremely fast and seems to work great! I am very satisfied w the battery life an only issue I am seeing is a slight GPS issue but I haven't had time to really address it. No one else is complaining about it so I'm sure its me, but even that being said...I recommend deck w the kernel mentioned. I have it set at 998mhz and either on demand or interactivex gov is working great. No lag. No hickups. Camera, mms works. Wifi is grabbing great and it just gets it done.
i think im gonna try out decks 1.2
after i flash is there anything else i should do to it?
Edit: GPS took a day to settle in and now working great!

Get the deck rom, gapps, and go ahead and get sz 2.2.1 cfs. Flash rom, then gapps then kernel. The reboot. Let it settle. Full reboot after it settles. Then set up. Give it a day or two before you move on and see what u think. Also keep your speed at stock speed and see how you like it. Mine is running fantastic. Don't see a need to overclock ATM

I Would Prefer an AOSP ROM,but last time i did that the PRL was outdated and my coverage was such garbage i had to use wifi.if i flash the latest radio and whatnot,THEN an aosp rom, which one?...im not big on sense,i have alot of apps,so apps2sd enabled is preferred, possibly a custom kernel but idk if the evo can even be safely over/underclocked.and also,i had an amazing experience with godmode in synergy,is there any other rom that comes close to that kinda performance...im being picky hell id cook my oen,but no PC.

What Rom and Kernel is everyone using?
Curious as to know exactly what people on XDA are running on their OG EVO 4G.
I've found Decks 2.3.7 GB is the best GB Rom IMO but it is getting old, as in age.
*Best GB?+Kernel?
*Best ICS?+Kernel?
*Best Sense?+Kernel?
I would personally rather run ICS but I am so anal about my phone that the screen flicker when turning the screen off really aggravates me.
Just trying to get a feel which Rom is the "best" for you & why that is?

Nope. this is a solid daily driver. Only the FFC and 4G are inop. barcodescanner doesn't work for some reason and no HWA yet, but still smooth and fast as hell.
I have a guide for it. Click the Evo guide in my signature and at the end of the Original Post is a link to ICS MIUI Setup.
