Hey guys,
I'd like to ask for a tutorial on creating a simple apk with a simple UI (like a button which executes a command on press) which will first ask for root rights, and then it executes commands like in adb or in terminal emulator. (I want to remove several system applications, so I need SU right, and then I can re-mount /system and then rm the .apks), and on the other hand has another function, which checks for some applications running, and if, then closes them
Thanks in advance!
Try in the general programming thread

I have a few noob questions hopefully someone can answer
I rooted using toasts method part 1 and part 2
I have flipz .6 rooted rom and radio 1.39.00.05.31
Do I always have to go into hboot then select recovery every time or is there a direct path to boot into recovery?
Every time I install custom roms will i have to redownload all my apps every time? If so is there a way to easily back up the apps and restore them?
The superuser permissions app is there after rooting what is it used for?
LxMxFxD - the act of "ROOTING" is the act of giving super user. Super users are accounts on a phone or linux/unix device that can do EVERYTHING on the machine. Like the admin on windows. The whole point of rooting a phone is so you can get super user permissoins.
When i select the superuser permissions app i just see a black screen, should it do more than that?
ccapasso - What you are seeing is normal. The SuperUser Permission app is by default blank. However, once you start using apps that require su permission, such as Wireless Tether, it CAN start to have entries in it. I say CAN because you will notice that when you choose the Wireless Tether app, you will get a prompt asking you to allow. If you choose allow, it will continue as always. However, if you choose Always Allow, you will no longer get that prompt. Also, once you choose Always Allow, your SuperUser Permission app will now show a listing in it. If you simply choose Allow instead, you would still have nothing listed in the SuperUser Permission app.
How do I remove the proprietary apps?
you need to be in the recovery
from the cmd window type
Code:
adb shell
mount /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
cd /system/app
rm amazonmp3.apk
check this post for a list of apps to remove
can anyone help me out with question 1 or 2?

2) Try Titanium Backup in the App Store - I tend to like it quite a bit.

Well, if you're trying to delete system apps -- you won't be able to delete them from Estrong. I believe Root Explorer will allow you to delete those files, but its a paid app.
I would just advice you to delete whatever apks you don't want from terminal/shell.
Just plug your phone in and open terminal/command prompt and type:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
ls -- lists all the apps on your phone, find what you want to remove
rm AppName.apk
rm AppName.odex (not all apks will have odex files), so don't worry if you get an error message
Example:
rm Mail.apk
When you're done, type:
exit
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the answer. I didn't know that I couldn't delete apps with estrong. Though I find it easier to delete apps within android than going into terminal and executing the commands myself. Thanks for the heads up though.

Sure no problem.
I must be an idiot. Everyone keeps saying just type adb shell in a command prompt window. I just get errors saying ADB is not a recognized command. What gives?
It is in the sdk/tools directory.
Got it, I'm in. But now I'm getting read-only file system as I attempt to delete APK's.
Alternately, you can delete apps in one-click with Titanium Backup (which every rooted phone should have, IMO).
adb remount. Got it. Removed a few things I wanted gone after fresh 0.5.3.
actually i hv two phone right now, one is wave and another is n900.
on n900, the terminal is used alot in the hacking/modifying the os(maemo5).
wave also has terminal app(paid) but i was wondering the same level of modifying can be done(although bada still hv lot of restriction regarding hacking) .
and i just cr8 this thread in case the wave hackers here missed the terminal app, coz in my n900 its so powerful.
i hope something can be done through this
please give a link to that app in samsung apps

Your kidding right?? Did you even read this post??
just search "terminal" in your wave, i found it through my phone, not through the computer. its in utilities category.
pls try to use it, and give feedback if it potentially can be used to do some hacking to bada.
Hi, all here is a description of a Terminal Application:
This application is a command prompt that has the following commands:

List commands System :

battery Display the battery information
vibrator Vibrates the device
time Display time
settinginfo Display the setting information
systeminfo Display the system information
-List commands network :
connect Connecting to a server
send Sending message to a server
dns Resolve a domain name
List commands Other :

color Change the color of text/background
clear Clear terminal
exit Exit this application
echo Displays messages or enables/disables the display of commands
prompt Change the terminal prompt
editscript Edit/construct a script
loadscript Execute a script
sleep Suspends the execution of terminal
while Execute a command x times
For the help of a command, put -h in command argument.
WRITE "terminal" on the phone, in the search of Samsung app and download this app.
Video Here: youtube.com/watch?v=PEHBGmF23Lo
so this app dont have acces to system ?
That looks appealing BUT
it is limited to what the bada sdk can offer...
You're not going to be able to jail break out of bada.... it's in a similar position as motorola in that regard in locked bootloader etc etc so the jail break will never happen in a terminal unless... there's some exploit somewhere in the libs....
there's plenty of api's to read the directory etc....
What's up XDA?
I've been messing around with my Xperia Play and i successfully got it rooted. My next task is to get all the annoying icons and processes that are running in the background deleted to make my phone run like a champ (Also i just like the clean appearance of only the applications that i use in my menu, perhaps OCD).
With that said i have tried a few different ways to get my system folder writeable but nothing seems to work as I am unable to delete anything in that folder.
My questions are the following:
1) How to delete files out of this folder.
2) Is there a way to do this via computer so i don't have to mess around with an explorer application on my phone.
Thanks for the help thus far everyone!

You can delete system apps with adb. Here are some commands you may find useful:
"adb remount" - This will remount /system/ as R/W.
"ls /system/app/" This will list all the .apk's in /system/app/
"rm /system/app/***.apk" - this will delete the specified .apk file.
Thanks for the help.
I was able to get the abd to list out all the files in the apps folder but when i type adb remount it gives me an error saying "remount failed: Operation not permitted"
Any tips?

It's because you do not have insecure adb. Download and install this .apk. after install run it, and your device will reboot. You now have insecure adb and can remount /system/. also once installed you can uninstall app

read about write system protection.
tutos are available on this forum (wp_mod.ko file to push in system/lib/modules, and run a command on the phone with a terminal app)
#su
insmod system/lib/modules/wp_mod.ko
if im speaking chinese, dont try
but as you tried to change partitions before having write protection removed, you wont be able to do it without a restart until you reflash your rom (clean install)

Quoted from Step 2 Here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/general/guide-vm-htc-desire-816-root-how-to-t2862470 ,
2. Hopefully you were able to successfully install custom recovery and root.
Now this part is a bit tricky. Even with root HTC is stopping us from writing to system. For this we need to apply the wp_mod.ko module.
Download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2707378
Copy this file to the root of your internal storage.
Now download Terminal Emulator from play store, run it and enter the following commands (you only need to do this once):
su
insmod /sdcard/wp_mod.ko
Once you do this go into a root explorer app and mount /system as R/W. Copy the wp_mod.ko file to /system/lib/modules
Now go to /system/etc and find install-recovery.sh. Open it with a text editor and add a new line at the end with the following:
insmod /system/lib/modules/wp_mod.ko
Reboot! If all went well the wp_mod module will run at boot every time so you won't have to do it manually each time!
Congratulations, you now have a fully rooted Desire 816!
