But Tilt2 reviews say excellent call quality...

WMExperts, CNET, BoyGenius say things like the call quality and speakerphone in the Tilt2 are excellent. WMExperts say best in the market.
But I read here in the forum of people experiencing muffled sound, low volume, etc.
How to sort this out? What is "reality?"
Obviously this is a feature I am very concerned about before buying the Tilt2. I have relied on Nokia (although they get knocked -- rightfully -- for their OS) for reliable and clear call quality and speakerphone (people don't even notice that you are using a speakerphone).
I think one main factor is network conditions. Under excellent network conditions, you will be able to take advantage of the awesome sound quality that this phone has to offer. The phone volume itself is a bit soft. That doesn't mean sound quality sucks, that means volume sucks.
The speakerphone is a dream though. Dual mics and speakers provide excellent sound quality when using the speakerphone, and the dual mics provide some pretty good noise cancelling.
So while the phone is certainly capable of excellent sound quality, its all up to network quality as well. Personally I think the Tilt2 has more than enough volume for me (way better than the Fuze), and that sound quality has been very good. I especially love using the speakerphone on this thing. Its crystal clear and I love it.

I am inclined to agree with you. I have just moved over to the T-Mobile version after almost 4 years on a Wizzard and the call quality sucks in comparison. It sounds really flat. I cant understand why it gets good reviews. No way this is ntwork affected. I have 5 bars of 3G where I am.

T-Mobile duffed the output, you can find that anywhere in the forums.. AFAIK it does not affect any other model except the T-Mobile, and there is a file you can replace or install to restore it.
the hardware is definately the best of any phone. just try it out with another phone and youll see. for alot of people the low volume can be solved by hitting volume up, but it still can be a bit soft. the software hasnt really changed from phone to phone and being windows mobile, its easy to get the phone louder through software. i would recommend looking at tweaked audiopara3 files.

Whats the best record app?

The sgs record app is crap. It has poor quality playback. Im looking for the best app quality wise but also packed with features.

I personally recommend Tape Machine. Great quality sound and you can record to flac (among a number of other usual formats except mp3). It's kinda pricey though.
Virtual Recorder is free and has a good audio quality. You don't like it ?
Tapmemachine is the best. but it comes at a price.

[MUST HAVE]Great Sound / Affordable / Portable Speaker!

We all are aware how crappy our speakers are, probably the only thing that could be better on the MyTouch 4g.
So I thought I'd share this to people that share the same thoughts as I do. I've used this for awhile now, and am very happy with it.
X-Mini II Capsule Speaker
Best portable speaker you'll ever get for less than $25
Enjoy and hit the thanks button if you agree
That looks cool. I got something similar to that at office depot
http://www.officedepot.com/catalog/...PLAwFiSQtfDY_IFW:13ddpq53l?fkey=&Ntt=tweakers
i use it for my phone/netbook. Best $20 ever spent
was looking for something like this.
The X-Mini is awesome! I misplaced the one I had but I will def be getting another one soon. I got my gf the version with 2 speakers and she loves em.
hmm Ill look into this
thanks
I have the iHome ihm60 it's pretty good also
I have one of these and absolutely love it. Great sound, even has decent bass. Even when it gets very loud and it still sounds clear.

[Q]Speakerphone Quality?

How is the Galaxy S2's speaker volume?
Are the speakers awesomely loud and full like on HTC's Touch Pro 2 (AT&T Tilt 2, best phone speakers ever), or low and tinny like the HTC HD2? The GS2 looks awesome, but I've only had HTC phones so I don't have anything else to compare it to.
I use it my phone's speaker for everything: phone calls, listening to radio shows, music and playing videos, so if the GS2's volume is significantly louder and better than my HD2, I'm gonna head to T-Mo and snatch it up.
Thanks in advance!
it's super loud, too loud for comfort if you ask me, when set to max
it does not distort, as in no hiss or vibrate
but is not very tuned to the base side, it's just in flat/normal
not high on treble like other speaker phones (which i absolutely hate, as i can't stand high pitched noise... i meant voice)

The speaker's good and loud for phone calls and navi, but absolutely sucks for music, IMO.
Dude the speaker is great i had tge mytouch 4g and that was my only complaint speaker was super low. on the gs2 it is much louder and also usually when u lay the phone flat on its back it muffles the speaker but for me it makes it a little louder dont know if it is the body glove xase or what but for best experience go to market and grab volume + it works great and is an advanced dsp manager i love it. I had my doubts but it rocks now when im listening to a video i keep it about 4 notches below max
I can't say much as this is my second smartphone but i can tell you when i had an evo3d from sprint the speaker SUCKED ASS and i couldn't hear it for simple calls and texts. I had to install a app called volume plus that uses root to force your volume up which made the speakers crackle but functional. This phones speaker is a godsend compared to that bull****.

I've owned every highend phone on T-Mobile except for the Amaze 4g and I must say this phone has the best speaker phone hands down. I've even owned the Nexus S and Nexus One and none of them compare to this phone as far as sound quality goes.

Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm going to my local T-Mo store tomorrow and check it out! Early Christmas gift for myself!!!

Quality head phones

I am wondering whether its worth purchasing an expensive night quality pair of head phones for my new galaxy note?
I'm sure the sound driver on this unit is a Yamaha produce and its very poor and wouldn't produce high enough quality for top spec head phones anyway.
am I correct? I would like to hear your views!

I tested some earphones on my dad's Galaxy Note. (UE triple fi 10 and Super.Fi 4vi)
For mp3 format songs, a middle class earphone is okay...
In my opinion, HTC machines have better sound quailty
You can achieve a reasonable quality with the Note. Definitely not on par with other audio sources but this is what I do. Rip music at 320 bit rate.
Headphones. Try and make sure the ohms is under 32. Most portable are, but 16 ohms is better for the Note as it doesn't go naturally as loud as I would like. Then look at the sound pressure level. You preferably need a score of over 108db.
The top end sennheiser IE8 have incredible measurements. And consequently go loud and dynamic and punchy bass with ease. But they are very expensive.
I don't think the Note needs expensive cans, but don't buy inefficient headphones. They won't go loud and will lack dynamics.
I've got some mid range sennheiser in ears, and I'm extremely happy with the quality.

I fully admit, although I love music, I certainly wouldn't class myself as an audiophile, and may well have damaged my ears through the years, so they might well sound crap. For me they're fantastic

I use the Senn HD215 closed back units and find them pretty good from the Note for mp3 bitrates above 192kbps.
i have the creative x-fi headphones. the x-fi crystalliser improves the audio quality enough for me to be happy enough with it. it doesnt compare to the surround sound system i have in my room, but its good enough.
Thanks allot guys for the comments and thoughts on what you use. I will check your accessories out and go from there.
Many thanks from a new member you've all been really helpful

Neutron MP
Instead of rushing out to buy headphones, I would suggest upgrading the music player to Neutron MP, first.
The UI is not very good, but the sound quality is fantastic! Volume is increased to a point that will hurt your ears, if you want. I have compared it side by side on my Note and previously, on my Dell Streak 5. Neutron MP wins every time. The difference in sound quality is quite noticeable.
Finally, Dmitry, the developer, is very knowledgeable, extremely responsive to his forum or emails, and is constantly updating and improving an already great product. He has a SGSII which is very similar to our Note so he is developing directly for us!
I am a very satisfied user!!!

I will check it out now.

I hear a lot about Beats.. Is it really day good or if its just day name!? If it really is, which model is decent enough and how much could it cost?! I am from India..

I used to have an iPhone and the ipod app really was easy to manage. I miss the double tap to go to next song and triple to go back on my note
And yeah, rather look into music apps than headsets

Does that player reduces the sound to half when you start recording ?
Will that player also switch off when I activate the camera ?

Recording what? It's a PLAYER, not a RECORDER.
I have no idea. I've never tried it.

Depends on what kind of music you listen... Beats are a piece of crap for the price. I use a pair of Westone 4R, and even though I have an ipod video which is better for music than the note, the note is good enough, specially with playerpro.
The Monster Turbine are better than the Beats, for a similar price and same manufacturer. Otherwise, you can check Shure 840 for a full size can and medium prized or the ATH M50 for the best bang for the buck headphone out there.
[audiophile headphones]
Remember, all you need is
I got 2 headphones.
Sennheiser M550 (Bluetooth)
Sennheiser HD650
I have a pair of JH16 Pros from JH Audio for reference listening, and a pair of Shure SE530s for everything else.
The Yamaha DAC in all current Galaxy phones is garbage, so you might as well get a cheaper set if you'll only be using them with your Note.
I installed DSPManager and bought a pair of noise cancellation headphones from AblePlanet;
www.ableplanet.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=38
The sound is incredible!
PS: I bought from WorldWideStereo online.
