[Q] Amazon Apps Force Closing? anybody else have this problem? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know why but all of a sudden the apps i got from amazon are force closing??? They seem to be the only ones affected.
Anybody else having this problem?
I think it started happening when I turned off 3G and tried to open up zombies vs plants (amazon app of the day)... Do amazon apps send an authenticity signal every time you open it? hmmm...

i have an idea what's causing it... i believe it happens when i restore amazon downloaded apps with titanium backup...

And here I thought it was a memory issue. I can confirm that Amazon apps with data restored from Ti Backup crash out. I just wiped PvZ and reinstalled from the appstore without restoring the data (too bad cause I just got all the trophies on Monday) and it ran fine. I'm going to experiment to see if I can get the data to restore. We might want to post this bug to Ti Backup, so they can get on it too.

Yup... the problem is restoring apps+data. Uninstalling and then restoring just the app works though. Lost quiet a bit... that's too bad.

I updated TiBU to 3.8.5.2 and the change log mentioned a fix for restoring unencrypted data backups. I reinstalled PvZ, and then restored the data again. Sure enough, no FC.
This is kind of response time and service is why i had no qualms about paying for the Pro.

Just updated. Yup, titanium backup pro is a life saver!

Audio Streaming: Connection Dropped

Alright, just went through the process of switching my phone to use EVRC-B and then Voice 13k. I also changed the ACCOLC to 2, and set EVRC-B to Enable.
After I did that, I found out that audio streaming apps (Shoutcast via XiiaLive, and Pandora) were no longer working. XiiaLive would connect, buffer, and then say connection dropped. Pandora just sat there, acting ready to play music, but when I pressed play, nothing happened.
I then tried iHeartRadio, Retro Radio, Cherry Rplayer, StreamFurious, and YouTube. None of them but YouTube worked either. I changed my settings back (EVRC, EVRC-B disabled, ACCOLC to 5) and rebooted multiple times. Still getting the same issue!
Just want to know if anyone's had this problem and knows of a solution before I do a data wipe.
EDIT: Just to confirm, everything works over WiFi. This is JUST with 3G cell connection (I have no 4G to test). Also, I do not believe it's a network issue, as I can listen to some of the same channels on my laptop (DI.fm/SKY.fm for example), and Sprint's pulling down web browsing and YouTube just fine.
Well, did a factory reset from recovery and wiped dalvik cache. Everything is working again.

I have the same exact issue. I had it with my stock unrooted rom and now i have it with the DC 3.2.3.
Anyone....?

I found a solution and put it in the EVRC-B thread. Basically, just opening the EPST program causes this. So if you're going to change the settings, you have to do a nandroid backup, change the settings, and restore. So far there's just no way around this bug since Sprint/HTC doesn't care about providing fixes our support to modders or anyone who uses non-default settings/software, even if it's software they gave you.

Wow, this is awesome and applies to my case. Indeed, I accessed EPST to change my Slot Cycle Index every time I flashed so I guess that could have caused the issue.
I spent the better part of yesterday trying to figure this out. I did a backup of all my apps and data via Titanium Backup. Wiped the rom, cache, dalvik cache, reflashed DC, and then ran the restore in Titanium Backup. As each app was reinstalling, I would test the streaming radio. All the apps restored and streaming was still working over 3G. However, as soon as the system data was restored (the last step in the Titanium Backup restore process) and I restarted the system, streaming stopped working over 3G. So I figured it must be some random system setting that is restored and must be causing this.
I repeated the whole procedure again (e.g., backup, wipe, re-flash, restore, etc.). However, this time I backed-up and restored apps via Titanium Backup (no system data) and I used MyBackup to back-up and restore SMS, Call log, and dictionary. Using this method, streaming over 3G is now working.
I'll run a nandroid backup now so I won't run into this issue again. Thanks again for posting back here and closing the loop!
Thought I would add to this. As usual, nothing is consistent. I was just in the data menu changing a bunch of things (EVRC-B, SLC, ACCOLC, and WiMax settings). Rebooted after changes and everything is working great. Streaming Pandora no problem, and the wimax changes fixed the ping-ponging connection.

[Solved][Q] Market Issues: Stock 3.29

Everything was working fine until today. My market refuses to download apps or updates, even after a factory reset. Not sure if anyone else has noticed. Can't seem to fix it. Not sure if its server side or some update to the market, but I can't get my apps back until its fixed. Please post here if you know what's going on or have the issue. I'll try WiFi later and see if that helps.
Update: It started working randomly shortly after I wrote this post. Unfortunately, another problem has come up. Now I get unknown error -18 when downloading and installings Google Sky Map, MiniSquadron!, Bubble Breaker, and Bubble Breaker Editor. So essentially all is well, but I'm getting weird errors on one of my favorite apps and one that I just bought and haven't been able to use. I'm going to try a different rom and see if that helps. This is really starting to annoy me...
Update: I did an RUU last night and as of right now, I still cannot access those four apps. Same error -18. Someone else here on the forums is having market issues similar to those I was having at first, so it might just be a server side or recent market update issue.
i have the same problem market gets stuck at downloading
It sucks, but repartition your sd card. Worked for me after getting the same errors. Something about it trying to overwrite an existing file and then failing.
Yeah, I was just googling for information on the error and found out you have to move any existing apps from the SD card to the phone and then delete the .android_secure folder from your card. Guess all of these apps were meant to install to the SD card by default and that's what was causing the error. Fixed my phone now.

Yeah, I've had that problem for a while. Usually if I rebooted or used wifi tether it would start working. They've pushed out a couple of updates to the market in the last couple of days, and I haven't been having problems today at least. We'll see how long that lasts.
Settings, Applications, All Apps, Market, Uninstall updates, clear data, clear cache, force stop. Open market. Fixed.

App Market Problems??

Anyone having problems with the Market? Able to download apps but they will not install, been doing it since yesterday evening. Don't think its the ROM i am using, but I just want to check with everyone else. Thanks

Yeah, had the same problem yesterday evening. After a factory reset it was still having the issue. Suddenly it started working though. My biggest problem is that four apps still won't install, even after an RUU. The apps are Google Sky Map, MiniSquadron!, Frozen Bubble Breaker, and Frozen Bubble Breaker Editor. They all give me an error -18. All my other apps are working now, but I have noticed a few other small glitches in the last couple of days as well. Since I'm not the only one, its probably server side or a market update. Either way, it will hopefully be fixed shortly.

[Q] Negatives of Titanium Backup?

I often see people say not to restore app data with Titanium Backup when flashing a ROM, but I have never seen why. I always restore data, since I have some data that I refuse to lose, and everything seems to work fine. What would be different if I decided not to restore data? Would I get better performance, better battery life, or something else?
Basically, it just seems that people will experience force closes, reboots, and instability sometimes. Restoring system data between AOSP and sense roms is a big no-no for that reason. However, as long as you're staying clear of system apps, it seems like you can restore app data and be fine. If you're not having issues, don't worry about it. Wouldn't effect performance or battery life, so as long as you're stable, you've got nothing to worry about.
Can't lose those Angry Birds scores and stats!
Things like that seem to be ok to restore app+data at least for me they have. (Knocking on wood) Never had any issues.

Just don't restore system apps

Force Closes

I know this has been brought up multiple times before. I just don't understand it. Why do I get force closes on nearly every ROM i flash for epic 4g eg22? Can I update gapps or something to stop them? It gets fixes after a 3x wipe and rom flash for a day or two, then starts coming up again (especially after multiple power cycles).
I saw answers on other threads that pulling the battery might be causing it, but I never pulled the battery. Also, I never get option to clear the data/cache in manage applications. Is this an ext-4 issue? I was on rfs and never received it. My journaling is enabled as well.
Are you restoring data?
If you are then that will certainly cause many issues. It is ok to restore your APKs but you should always reconfigure your applications, the only exception to this is if your updating to a new version of the same ROM (and then that depends on the level of changes made to the update).
It sounds like a lot of time to redo all the stuff, but in the end you save way ore time not having to try to figure out which piece of data restored caused the FCs
Crap no journaling/ext-4 implementation on most ROMs, causes more headaches than improvements for the average user. Just convert to "journaling on" or back to RFS and most FC's will go away.
What about stock roms? Do you get force closes on them too?
Try "Fix Permissions" in Clockwork. You might have carried over an app with bad permissions table.

+1. After much consternation myself.... I've discovered that it is typically due to restoring data having switch from one ROM to another... I think that I've been OK when I stay with upgrading the same ROM to the next version most of the time... but changes by the Dev could cause those to not work so hot as well.
As jdelano mentioned, it sounds like a headache to re-setup your phone but if you use the new groupings of apps capabilities on AppBrain and use Titanium to restore data to apps that are freshly installed... the only other headache is resetting up your widgets/screens and then the customization of a few apps.
Yeah a pain... the cost we pay for being on the bleeding edge.
