I like to use GOSMS and Id like to set it on the home screen shortcut bar but it just looks ugly. Is there a way to make the standard SMS image redirect me to GOSMS? This is using the Touchwiz home, Juwe's 4.3.1
Not with TW, best you could do is overwrite the standard SMS app with GOSMS in the sytem partition. then it would work, but you'd have to update manually everytime there was an update on the package.
I finally just switched to Launcher pro and customized everything. I love this launcher. Really liked TW, but it was just weird to have the applications stand out like that.

Whenever I select the phone feature in the dock (on the home screen) it states "Application not Installed." There is no settings for Android Launcher or dragging over the app to replace the existing one doesnt work either. I'm assuming i'll have to uninstall with titanium and restore it but i dont have the basic launcher. Can someone tell how to place that icon on the home page or just reflash/reinstall android launcher?
thanks
the stock launcher is not customizable. You have to either have the AOSP dialer installed, or that button will not work.
I'm sure someone could modify the stock launcher to work with the sense dialer (it is open source after all) but I haven't ever seen it done.
Launcher Pro and ADW are both built off the stock launcher, so there isn't much of a downside to using one of them.
I need something where i can hide an app from the drawer but still have access to it, heres what i mean.
I switched to HTC sense, and Sense has its own gallery, i hate the sense gallery, so i reverted back to the stock gallery. So now i have 2 gallery apps and i want to hide the sense gallery. Only issue is this gallery corresponds with the messaging app when attaching image or video, and when i hide it with hide it pro, app vault, and other apps its not accessible, it just force closes or doesnt respond. So im looking for a way to hide it from the drawer, but still have access to it through the apps that it corresponds with.
Launcehr Pro
Launcher Pro does just that, but you lose the Sense look. But I use Launcher Pro on my G2 without Sense so no problem for me.
I forgot to mention, I dont want to use a home replacement app or have to switch roms. I want to keep the sense look. Ive used launcherpro in the past and loved it but sense beats it in my opinion.
All,
Just wondering what stock app have you replaced in ICS? ie sms, launcher, dialer, browser... and why?
I'm trying to stay pure ICS and so far I'm digging what came with ICS but just curious what everyone has replaced on their phone. Not even gonna root.."YET"
Thanks!
None, ICS's stock apps are great.
Only thing I have replaced if the music app, I find it a bit ugly, especially the widget. So I'm using Ubermusic

For me, I only replaced the stock keyboard with Swiftkey X....though I wish Swiftkey X can use the Voice to txt like stock.
Dialer with exdialer + ICS theme.
Why? The dialer stinks, does't have t9 name lookup.
Even entering a number does't suggest numbers matching the pattern.
exdialer fixes all this, and with the ICS theme maintains the UX
I use ADW EX Launcher, because I'm so used to it and I want my appdrawer to scroll vertically. Another benefit is that ADW can backup and restore its settings and that comes in handy, if you have to factory reset the GN.
Not (yet) rooted by the way.
The stock music app does not find my music, so I installed PowerAMP and that works just fine.

+1 my friend. I'm so used with the sense dialer and really missed t9 lookup. Now it's better.
I also replaced stock launcher with Nova Launcher. It's almost identical with the original, but has much more functionality.
Music ---------------> POWER AMP.
go sms
adw launcher
power amp
rocket dialer
boat browzer
Been using Go SMS Pro because of T-Mobile's MMS issues: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386797
I've only swapped the default messaging app for gosms pro. More notification options. It let's me set the LED notification color, change the vibrate pattern and a few other things.
Been playing with this today. Fairly nice rendition of the ICS launcher with bits and pieces modified to make it work with older version of Android.
Free in the Play Store.

I love it works great since it hit the market after turning off animations. I run underclocked at 800mhz too and have no issue. but I guess maybe I'm doing it wrong by not having the animations. either way once they work out the bling speed ill be enabling it.
my default launcher on tw and cm7.
OK, everyone get back on topic.
Thanks

Notifications do not work using Holo Launcher Plus
Can someone help me?
I am using Holo Launcher Plus with Holo Notifier and my "Unread Count" notifications only works for text messages (SMS).
My Samsung Epic 4G does not display nofications for Gmail, Yahoo email, Outlook email, or even phone calls.
I checked my Holo Notifier settings and enabled (checked) each option and selected the corrersponding apps (Phone app, Gmail app, etc.). Only my SMS text messages display a notification in Holo Launcher Plus.
My phone is the Samsung Epic 4G running Android 2.3.6 (GB).
Thank You for your help.

I'd suggest heading over to the Holo forum. You can find that here.. You can also drop the dev a email. He is pretty good about responding.

I just swapped from HighOnAndroid, a TouchWiz based ROM, to JellyBam 7.4. I really like the customization of JellyBam, but there are a number of system apps that I really don't like, the Clock app, Calendar app, Messenger app, Contacts app, and Phone app. I love the look and feel of the TouchWiz versions of all of those apps. The JellyBam Clock has none of the features of TW clock, the TW calendar has a nice appearance, and i work outside at night, so the white text on black used in the TW Contacts and Messenger apps is perfect. Actually the Messenger app uses the colored balloons on a black background, which i really like.
Where can i find these apps, and can someone explain to me an elementary and simple way to install them? I have a copy of the Clock app, but it wont install. I've tried drag and drop, overwrite, etc. The phone won't let me do anything with the default clock app.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Jellybam roms are banned from xda so you will not find any support on this.
Also
TW based applications don't function on AOSP roms without the TW interface.
