Hello everyone, I have rooted eng s-off radio off and custom rom enabled phone, previously i was using joker splash screen and than i change it with the new screen, but as i changed it the new splash screen set again the old one, but my phone stop there as i reboot it, it does't go further from that splash screen and wont boot up.
Reboot and leave for a good minute or two, it might just be taking it's time (After i flashed splash it took about ~45s to move on after first boot). Otherwise, power down (battery out) and boot to the bootloader: vol down and power button.
Next choose fastboot, and flash a new good splash - 480x800, bmp, etc. Get the stock one or another you know works. Reboot and voila, a phone that works

I installed the modaco rom from here android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/316565/24-aug-r8-modaco-custom-rom-for-htc-desire-with-online-kitchen-2-2-froyo/ using the ROM manager with hboot 0.83 which was already rooted. I had the phone all of 2 days and now after doing that when it reboots it gets to the quietly brilliant HTC screen with the Modaco logo and it just doesnt get past is.
I rooted via this method forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748618and that seemed to go fine
The problem is now i have only 1 option which is loading into the boot menu via Power+back button.
In there there is a recovery option, when i select this the screen i get the 02 welcome screen and it just sticks on that. When i click on recovery should i get some other options? So as i see it i can only do 2 things
1) Boot normally via power which freezes at the HTC quietly brilliant screen
2) Boot via Power+back button which gives me an option to choose recovery, fastboot etc but choosing recovery just freezes as the 02 welcome screen
Im pretty good with PCs but ive never even used an Android or Iphone until 2 days ago so go easy with the terminology, what happens if i bricked this, i didnt get insurance so will i be responsible for the cost of fixing it if i return it?
Hello,
I was happily using CM7, and while reading through a Diablo III news page (hopefully it comes out soon ), my phone rebooted into a boot loop. Weird, but I figured at worst I would wipe data and reinstall a ROM. Unfortunately, I can't get into recovery any longer.
If I boot the phone normally, I see the white HTC splash screen for a few seconds, then it reboots. I can use HBOOT fine, but as soon as I try to reboot normally / boot into recovery / boot into Restore Factory Defaults, my phone will try to boot accordingly for a second, then reset. Let me clarify...
Pull and replace battery
Boot into HBOOT (volume down + power)
Select Recovery
Phone reboots and reaches CWM Recovery 3 for about 1/2 second, not long enough for me to click anything
Phone reboots into boot loop
I've used HBOOT to flash to CWM Recovery 3.0.0.8, downgraded to the stock radio, run the 2.2 RUU. I'm still running up against the same boot loop problem.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a hardware problem, but I'm anxious to hear if anyone has ideas to try first. Additionally, is there any way to restore to S-ON through HBOOT in case I need to bring this into a Verizon store?
Thanks!
hi!
a friend of mine brought his wfs (gsm) to me that i've unlocked and flashed custom rom before. it froze during the day when the phone was idle and when he tried restarting it was stuck on the white htc splash screen. nothing has been tampered with so i tried the following:
*trying to boot into recovery(which it had cwm and running without problems before): still stuck on white htc splash screen after selecting recovery option.
*trying to re-flash recovery-boot-system (different kinds, custom, stock) from hboot, successfully flashes, doesn't boot
*at last resort, i relocked the bootloader, created a goldcard and flashed "RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.26.401.3_Radio_47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M_release_261695_signed.exe" which successfully flashed, updated hboot, radio and flashed stock everything.
it finally booted into stock after 15 mins of splash screen. but when it gets to the locksreen, it doesn't respond to the touchscreen or the hardware buttons, the screen sleeps after some time, but hardware button lights stay on, and there's nothing i can do except for removing the battery.
i can't use adb logcat at this point since the debugging isn't enabled on the fresh rom.
after removing the battery and trying to reboot, it's stuck on htc splash again, i have to boot into fastboot, do a factory reset, wait another 15 mins to boot into the fresh rom to get stuck again.
my educated guess is that the nand is worn out.
any suggestions or questions about diagnosing what we might have?
thanks in advance!
up
anyone?
Did you try to reflash recovery?
Sent from my bowl of jelly!
i've reflashed cwm, didn't work. flashed stock recovery, but booting to stock recovery also took like 2-3 mins, more than it should have. flashed cwm again, doesn't boot into it, stays at white htc splash.
Well most of the methods that i know involve recovery, so you are pretty much screwed...

Hey everyone, I have a T-Mobile M8, Unlocked, rooted, S-ON and I installed {4.4.4} AxxionKat~1.6.0 {Linaro} 9-13-14. Everything booted as normal, I restored all my apps, etc. I decided to change the DPI settings (which Ive done in numerous other ROMs in the past) to 460 from 480. I made the change, saved the build.prop, and restarted my phone. Instead of booting up and going to the boot animation, its getting hung up at the white HTC screen (where is says "this build is for developmental purposes only" Etc.) then it goes dark. Holding power does nothing. Holding power+vol down does nothing. Holding Power+Vol up will bring it to the white HTC screen again but then it just loops. Any ideas on how to get this thing back in recovery so I can restore a Nandroid? Thanks.
EDIT: Im good now. Back in recovery!
First of all, it's not bricked. If it was, you wouldn't be able to turn it on in the first place. You're thinking of a soft brick.
If you can get into the bootloader, you can just enter recovery (or boot custom) via ADB/fast boot

Soft bricked ya. Well I had it up and running and now I find myself in the same situation I was in on Tuesday. I cant get it into the bootloader in order to enter recovery mode. I hit PWR+VOL UP until the white HTC screen comes on, as soon as the screen goes dark I hold PWR+VOL DOWN which should bring me to the bootloader. The first time, this method worked like a charm. This time around it wont do anything. PWR+VOL UP will get me to the HTC screen but then once the screen goes dark PWR+VOL DOWN does nothing....
So I was about to flash a ROM (viperone), and while I was in aroma I went to the "flash stock kernel" setting and did that, because I felt it probably wouldn't hurt. Well, turns out it broke my phone's ability to boot into recovery, from what I can tell. I can enter fastboot and I tried reflashing the recovery but it still won't go to it when I select that setting. What happens instead is it flashes to the HTC screen then it goes black for a few seconds, then it goes to the bootloader screen (where it has the red message) and it just sits there forever. Did I just completely brick my phone by doing this?
Actually scratch that, I managed to fix it by flashing the GPE RUU. Now I just hope I can figure out how to switch it back to stock at some point.
