[Q] Battery life of wildfire s - HTC Wildfire S

Hey i am planing to buy wildfire s please provide me some cons and battery statistics .
how is the battery life ?
Does it last for 2 days with moderate calls ,music and sms
How is the music quality and loudness.
Please reply ASAP
Thanks in advance.I appreciate every reply

I have just got a new Wildfire S and on its first charge I have so far got 4 days 8 hours. The battery meter is now on 2 bars.
However, to test maximum battery life I have turned of internet services so I just running the Widlfire as a phone (believe it or not). I have only made a couple of calls and used sms a few times.
I haven't listened to music but I'm guessing this would seriously eat in to the 4 days I've achieved so far.
For £200 the phone is great, for me it's an ideal size and has the latest Android. I imagine it will do most things the larger phones (HTC Desire) will do just a little slower.

Battery life.
The battery life for mine seams to be around 1- 1.5 Days. However, it was used before I received it, so the battery may be degraded.
Also, I am constantly connected to wifi and using it for facebook and emails etc, and occasionally Music and games.
I use a auto brightness instead of lower brightness settings and I use a live wallpaper and no battery juice saving apps.
I also use Link2SD and have about 45 apps installed whereas less than half eat up juice by monitoring bandwidth usage etc.
This is with the stock ROM Ginger Bread 2.3.3 that came with my HTC wildfire S. It is rooted via CWM.
I purchased a new battery which is taking forever to arrive.
I will test out this new battery with the same setup as shown above and with a power saving setup and will post my results here.
I will also test out other roms, that way You will have a general idea of the battery life.
There are many techniques to save your battery from degrading overtime and it is worth looking into.
For those battery freaks out there, you may be interested in knowing that there is a larger battery that is compatible with this phone which comes with a bigger back plate. (suppose to last up to 3x longer).
As for speaker quality, I have had no problems at all listening in a variety of places. Works best laying flat on a flat surface. curvature of phone and camera lens allows the speaker hole to not be covered and lets out sound at an acceptable loudness.
Note: if you cover the speaker hole completely, (with your finger for example) the loudness is greatly reduced and sounds muffled.

its an alright phone. when I first bought it I turned everything off and used it as a watch pretty much for work, it would last the whole shift with very minimum drain, however when I use it heavily...it would last about an hour. maybe a little more. the main con for me for this phone now is the armv6 processor which for most people probably isn't a big deal. they were discontinued with my carrier here in america but at the end of their lifespan they were about $50 I don't know the conversion really. its a good phone I had it for a year, just I needed something a little stronger, as I am a very heavy user.
edit: I never used any power saver apps or anything like that either. if that helps at all.

I do not understand the reasoning behind your statement. Rooting your phone does NOT have any affect on battery life.

Like they all say "IT DEPENDS ON YOUR USAGE". If you have activated 3G services and most of the time you are traveling , then of course the battery hardly last a day. For me, it used to last a day under 'above moderate usage' . I will be mostly online either by data connection or Wi-Fi (Online doesn't mean that am always surfing and stuff. The phone will check in to some apps in a fixed interval . eg : facebook, gmail and stuff like that) .
You have asked about music quality, its pretty good for this price. I mean, you don't expect BEATS BOMB BASS and all in this , do you? I like the headphones that they have provided. it doesn't have a rubber flap on it which makes it very convenient to listen to music for hours (without causing headache )
If with moderate calls, msgs and music the battery could last around one and a half days. Just make sure to keep the brightness low since display is the main villain that drains the battery. Also, keep the Sync OFF unless you want to to be ON. Overall, i think it meets the expectation with this tiny 1250MaH battery.
EDIT :: Some say that this gives u an extra boost

My friend , i disagree. I have used some ROMs that has given better battery life than the Stock ROM especially those with that tweaks in the build.prop.

Well said. And simply rooting the phone, and doing nothing will not effect battery life. However its what u do once ur rooted that does. Depending on what roms, apps and config u set up, u can lose or gain battery life. Kinda obvious, but just wanted to be clear for all the noobies.

[Q] HTC Desire vs. Desire HD Battery Life.

A very simple quick question : Is the battery life of the Desire HD better or worse than the original Desire? (because right now the only thing that is between getting the DHD or the Desire is the battery life issue) I am much satisfied how the old Desire performs in batterywise (by reading the forums and reviews) but all the bad comments of the DHD dreads me to make the deal.
Have anyone used (or better owned) both devices and know any differences of these 2 devices with same level of usage? Can actually the improvement of the CPU compensate the drain due to the screen?
Some facts I expect from the device:
1. Dont need hourly updating with twitter fb etc or regular sense Sync. (once or twice a day is more than enough)
2. Looking forward to have a fairly moderate use of the screen for browsing ebooks etc.
3. Not heavy on making long calls.
4. Dont want to use spare batteries and nowhere to charge during the day after leaving home. So it MUST last 24hrs.
PLEASE share your experience, or I m afraid I might endup with the wrong phone for the next 2 years! Thank you all for your valuable comments....

@junta_mpb Thanks for the instant reply. So I ll take that DHD can last the day by my usage pattern right?
Ok now Much more convinced to make the deal with DHD .
So I presume the battery killer about the DHD is the screen. And for a day that I might need more juice till late, I spare the screen usage and be ok right? I also saw that the 2G can go upto 9+hrs! So it seems calling may not have a big impact.
Just curious how much do you think it will last, if I got a DHD, with my usage pattern, with additional 30mins gaming a day? Thanks a lot for the replies.

Text and calls don't seem to affect usage a lot. Based on what you wrote, I would say reading your books will eat the most out of your battery. I'm going out on a limb here and will say you should easily get more than 14 hours with heavy usage/e book reading. By heavy I mean more than 3 hours screen time.
3g is the biggest drain of the battery, in my experience and even with it on, I still get more than 14 hours with lots of surfing with around 3 hours screen time.
Standby drain with hourly sync takes 1% per hour.
Cheers from my DHD.
My battery is better than normal desire. I can actually playing most of the day with it and still have some juice left till I plug it in....

Just another quick question, do you keep the syncing, email and social network updates, to frequent checking (for ex 1 hr basis) and use GPS daily?
And how much "screen time" roughly do you get until the battery level gets critical?

Mine is set to hourly sync. Screen time is typically around 3+ hours.
Again, this usage gets me to 30%. I usually change then.
Cheers from my DHD.
I am fortunate enough to have both devices. I see myself as an average user and I easily get through a day with my dhd, 24hrs plus.
The battery life on my desire is abit better but not by much as I always plug it in every night in anycase.
I have Facebook, emails sync every hour, WiFi on the whole time, 30 to 40 mins of gaming, and listening to some music when I'm bored, 10 to 15 min on the web, atleast 4 calls made or received and texting the whole time. This is average usage for me, so I think you should be fine.

@bobbyelliott maybe functions that didnt much affect the battery of the Desire (screen usage I presume) due to AMOLED, have greater effect on the DHD, and vice versa?
But getting mixed reviews is confusing. Shame that I dont know anyone with a DHD to check hands-on. And the battery needs some time to adjust, as I ve seen in this forum posts, and they had done the battery test straight out of the box I think?
Anyway I m still leaning towards the DHD for its big screen. But I dont see a point buying such a powerhouse with so much underpowered battery.
Maybe should I wait and see if something like Thunderbolt gets available for sim-free?
had Desire for 6 months and am a DHD user for less than 3 weeks now..
battery life is very similar, maybe slightly better on Desire..
am a light user; 5-10 sms per day, a call or two, sync only gmail & weather (every 2 hrs).. some web surfing (30 minutes) and installing/uninstalling of apps..
with above usage i charge battery every 2 days
I can't compare with the Desire (I'm comming from a Touch HD - the greatest phone of it's time ), but I can easyly get through the day with one charge. Obviously the screen is the biggest drain, so if you need the battery to last more, you have to limit your "screen time" and I keep my brightness set to auto. Due to the nature of my job, I make a lot of calls (maybe 40-50 mins a day), browsing+XDA ~40 mins a day, ebooks for about 30 mins (screen brightnes set to minimum for that), and when I have to use GPS (very rarely), I always charge the phone during that time, because I use GPS only while driving. Also I'm almost always on 3G, wifi and bluetooth always on. I don't use facebook or twitter, but I sync the news feeds, weather, POP3 mail, gmail is set to push, sense is also syncing... and I think that's about everything worth mentioning.
I rarely play games though, so this might bring the battery down if you do, but I think you can still get through the day (actually that's 16 not 24 hours - you have to sleep sometime ). Also if you have a "battery heavy" day, you can always put some juice in the phone while driving home after work.

Here is roughly my day.
Wake up at 6am phone off the charger walk to work and play on it for about 15min.
During work I play (same games some internet some engadget ) here and there for about 10min plus 30+ on my break so all together will be more than 1,5hrs finish work at 4pm and my battery is at about 60-70% get back home surf the net for half hour and turn on hotspot (don't have proper internet at home) this itself drains a lot of battery but if I don't use hotspot and play with the phone instead I manage to get till about 5 5,30 till phone battery goes down to 20% and this is very heavy usage. Had days (Fridays ;p) where after work I didn't use the phone much just few text and it lasted me till next day with about 15% left.
Things is I don't call much. I have 900min and this month used only 100 (lol)
My updates are every 3hrs, push for gmail (i have one account for my regular emails and one just to store contacts without any crappy email addresses) gmail used as exchange account.
Screen on 23% brightness.
Lately battery is draining fast because I've installed whatsapp as my miss is abroad so we save some pennies

[SOLVED] Final Decision : Going with the Original Desire!
I was doing some more research, and Decided to buy the 'Old' Desire
And Thank you all for your contribution with experiences and thoughts, guys trust me it did help eventhough I didnt go for the DHD !
So for everyone I m gonna breakdown the reasons for my decision. (at least on the paper Desire outscored the DHD)
Battery Life
A huge factor if not the critical. I found that Desire has better Battery life than DHD, in comments I found Desire "Only lasts a day\ have to recharge everyday" etc and with DHD I found "Battery life is abysmal dont last the day\ have to plug in for midday charge" etc, but I know some of you guys anyway manage to keep the juice to last the day, anyway Desire 1 point...
Quadrant Score
http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/ (with 1GHz ranking) WOW this is INCREDIBLE ! Desire outsmarted the DHD came up with 3rd in benchmark with 1. Samsung Epic 4G 2. Samsung Galaxy S 3. LG Optimus 2X (dual core anyway) so its actually second place considering both first two are identical. (now who says Desire is not for gaming???)
Techradar No. 1 phone of all times
with DHD on the 3rd place http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...e-phones-in-the-world-today-645440?artc_pg=21
Pixel Density
Not a big point but anyway a point for desire.
Looks
DHD looks minimalistic on the face and Desire looks good too. And the physical Buttons on Desire... (are they better than the capacitive counterparts?)
Design
I dont like the patchy design of the DHD to be honest. Looks less durable and what about the gap between the bottom door? Cant put a custom cover to get bigger battery even. And the kickstand is utterly useless for many if used with a casing which is mostly the case. And the camera protruding out is menacing and accident prone.
Size and Weight
164g Vs 135g big deal. Pocketability issues, bulge, and for the long hours at the University it's gonna cost me some uncomfortable time.
Camera
Desire's cam is not the best, washed off colors etc.. but is the cam on the DHD fantastic? Nope, focus errors, too much sharpening etc. But HD footage is really cool. Not a big improvement worth considering I think.
DHD issues
Reception issues, (death grip?) , Sometimes lagging (occational 100% CPU usage, saw in a thread in XDA) Desire's problems were ironed out mostly I guess with the hardware revisions. No more overheat etc....
Loudness
Desire is louder than DHD http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire-review-468p8.php and http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_... my Desire. Any more comments are welcome. :D
Just one more thing to add, I think the DHD is an overkill. They've got the same snappy so the apps should run at the same speed. And android doesnt have too many 3D games (yet) and I think Desire will do fine until at least the end of this year. Then the dual core phone will go mainstream and prices will fall. So even with the Adreno 205 I dont think DHD is leaps and bounds ahead of the Desire in technology aspect. (buy anyway we can port the DHD rom to desire !!)
Cheers.

It's not the same snappy. Desire hd has the second generation version which uses less power and overclocks better.

This review shows the DHD battery lasts longer:
http://www.fastbutter.com/Article/227/HTC-In-Depth-Review--HTC-Desire-HD
"Despite Desire HD has a battery of 1230 mAh it sweep the carpet with its older sibling Desire with its 1400 mAh battery. When Desire goes out after almost exactly five hours Desire HD still have 19% battery left and rolls on for one hour and two minutes more- despite the smaller battery."
I guess the people with battery problems are having the cpu draining /init bug.

"There will be no specific updates coming for the HTC One X to improve battery"

Well what do you guys think? Are you satisfied by the battery considering the HOX's demanding setup? Mine lasts around ten hours with moderate to heavy use. Which is similar to my last phone, the SGS i9000. I found this quite acceptable.
HTC are a very reputable company, and often listen to their consumers (hence HTCdev). Is this latest move a shy away from that?
Would be great to hear everyones thoughts.

I consider the battery usage as a real annoying problem with no option to buy extra batteries.

Happy here with battery life of One X, battery is even better than it was in SGS2. For me at least. Around ~36h battery time while SGS2 ~30 hours when I was using it.
Gawwd why do people expect something with the resolution of a tv, and the same amount of cores of a high end pc, to not take much battery? I think its a bloody miracle these smartphones last longer than 5 minutes! As I've said before, you wouldn't expect a supercar to be economical?
Plus, the battery is an improvement to my dhd , so that is another miracle, considering the extra horsepower behind the one x

Where's the like button? I really do wonder what people expect. Get a Motorola if you want the battery to last you for a week.
More than happy with the battery life of the handset. Lasts me from when I leave home in the morning till when I get home at night and then some. Beats having to charge my phone during the day like on my DHD.
People need to get used to charging their phone every night, really don't understand people's issues with that. What's the big deal?

I know!!! My DHD is on the charger every night! It doesn't bother me
Why would they? It's fine.
To all the "glass half empty" whining types. You guys do know these things charge from USBs right. I got a great solution; plug it in when its running low.
Besides, the battery life is staggeringly good if you think about it. Mine lasts 2 days for simple calling and texting here and there and a whole day for quite heavy usage, browsing, YouTube, calls and so on. 18hours total, 4-4.5 hours screen on, 40/50mb data and 1.5 hours of calls yesterday, put it away at 1%, still not dead 2 hours of standby later.
Mine's OK, not great. I really didn't expect it to be. It'll be interesting to see how the S4 One XL does now that it's shipping. If it's about the same (with LTE off) than it's not a Teg3 issue. If it's dramatically better than we know it's not the display alone causing battery challenges.
I think that no update coming anytime soon is acceptable but no update AT ALL?
Im sorry but f*** that! Why can't they focus abit on the battery, some simple things would be to have less CRAP and bloatware, maybe if they could release 2 versions 1. simplified with the sense camera ONLY and rest ICS and the other with the full sense package that is really no necessary.
The most important thing to remember is that this a a PHONE to make calls and for that it works nicely and the battery lasts if you keep the screen off most of the time, but for a phone like this that was made to do more things I think you need to at the very least have a battery or a software symbiosis that can last for 8,9 hours of screen time.
Its Tegra 3 for f*** sake! With the super-dupe-triple-super-important-kill core2dou like nothing-quad-core-and a dedicated 5 companion core THAT IS SUPPOSE TO DELIVER KILLER BATTERY LIFE.
What is the problem?
I think there is simply too much Sense on the phone, too many uneceassy widgets and other crap that run in the background (oh you can flash cusom rom bla bla, you can freeze services with Titanium backup bla bla, but what if I want to use a stock rom?) bull**** I say, wih such and advanced CPU and memory and so on I do not see why you cannot have better battery life.
My Samsung Galaxy S2 can work for up to 3 days (ok it has a AMOLED ok ok but still, touchwhiz seems to not over run ICS) On stock ICS. Why? Because they have less 'painted over ICS functions that almost makes it run 2 OS's at the same time so maybe its no wonder the battery gets chewed up by all the sense applications.
This just my opinion from observing the phone and all the fanzy sense stuff after a week.
I believe this phone could be better in terms of software (without a doubt).
One thing they have to adress is the camera, why cant the image files be bigger than 2.9 megapixels? This is so stupid considering it has an 8 mpx camera... Also the full HD and 720p records in the latest firmware 1.28xx at approximately 24 fps and it should be 29 or 30. My Asus Prime records at a steady 30 fps at 1080p and 720p and its running Tegra 3 too.
They MUST at some point focus on battery life because if you dont have the juice to run all those fanzy apps and UI then why are they there in the first place?
I LOVE the weather graphics but I could live without it too (If I absolutely HAVE to....) the only thing necessary is the camera sense app because its the only thing that makes the phone unique and very fun and nice (but again whats the point without proper battery life?)
I hope HTC continues to work on making this one of the best first quad-core phone.
Another thing I noticed with SetCpu is that the phone is very high frequencies very frequently, if you install it and use the phone for a day you will see the graph scale, it uses 1.4 abut 40% of the time, but why? I never played games during this period or anything.
Im gonna keep my 1X because I love it and I believe in it and in the HTCdevs if they cant just be more positive perhaps
Cheers!

Click to collapse
4-4.5 hrs screen on isn't typical usage that the majority are getting though. Closer to 3 hrs.
It's easier to be quick to judge others when your own device defies the norm for the better.
If you were struggling to get 2.5 hrs , I doubt you'd be as chirpy about it all.
Two words that will help battery life without HTC - "custom kernels"
If you need to see the difference they make just ask in one of faux's threads, e.g. in the Sensation dev forum.
did the update improve the batterie life and if so , does the HOX still run as fast or did things low down ?
Pretty much echo the below , i have had an sgs2 and have an xperia s and this phone with its companion core is at least 33% worse on battery than both of these, and the processor is supposed to be more efficient . The display excuse won't wash much as the xperia s display is at least as bright/power hungry if not more .
I would love to see the exchange / return rates on this handset due to it not living up to its hype , let alone the fault rates.
And i am not whining, i upgraded to one, i like it , i will keep it and maybe one day learn to root it and replace the rom, but lets not kid ourselves its just not a finished polished product in terms of software !
thats my 2p, thanks for reading

Its Tegrra 3 for f*** sake!
They MUST at some point focus on battery life because if you dont have the juice to run all those fanzy apps and UI then why are they there in the first place?
I hope HTC continues to work on making this one of the best and first quad-core phones.

[REVIEW] ROM & Battery (Cme play)

Alright so I have had some time on XDA without really contributing. In the past year I have owned 7 android phones and havent really done anything. My newest try is the NITRO HD which I bought with a broken screen but fixing it. I was skeptical because the Optimus 3D had the worst battery life of the 7 I've owned.
Always with LG phones the question is battery life, so I wanted to share a thread where you guys, the reviewers would post battery info screenshots with information on usage (heavy, moderate, light), which battery you are using, which ROM you are using, Battery brand and size
I will post my first battery review pictures as soon as I get the phone up and running with a custom ROM. You guys (or ladies for the ladies out there), if you want can go ahead and start posting.
Rules/Instructions
Post usage information, pictures or link to screenshot pictures, battery size in mAh, which rom you are using (if on nightly, just post nightly date) and I believe thats just about it. Let the games begin.... or Review
Also, to make it fair, charge battery to 100% and then begin regular usage and take screenshot at 20% battery left or lower
Finally I am on CM9 from 5/7
My battery is the extended hyperion (I think thats the name) 3800mAh
Under heavy usage with over 100 texts, a few 2 minute phone calls, screen on for about 1 hours in that entire cycle and also listening to music through Bluetooth headset for about 2 hours and few camera uses
Goal was 10 hours.
between 21% and 10%, I went super heavy pn the phone with youtube videos, web browsing, listening to some music, downloading apps, and facebook. screen was on the entire time.
Battery: Stock 1850 mAH
ROM: CM9 Nightly 04/30/12
CM9 seems to be getting better on the battery life to be honest. I'm actually getting through the work day and then some.
Those times are not bad at all! I thought it would be worse. I ordered a 3800 mAh battery and I'm also getting a stock with the phone. Ill put up pictures tomorrow night EST or Saturday afternoon EST.

this is an average complete day for me of listening to music (with the screen off mostly) handling emails & phone calls, several brief surf sessions, news reading, playing temple run, chess, and table tennis several times each but briefly.

about what you are getting. I would say it is at least a 40% improvement.
THE curious part is that up until now I had assumed that improvement was due to how JD handles the screen brightness but my screen is only using 6% < than your screen (12% v 18%).
it doesn't seem to me that the savings from the screen adds up enough to = the 40%, but hard to tell, what do you think?
Yeah it's definitely more than just the screen brightness. When I used JD on gb before I didn't like it because it would not allow my Google+ messages to get through real time, even when I enabled screen off in the options..

WOW! that's on stock??? Thats great! now im thinking i should not have bought the extended (not a fan of bulky batteries) Anything more than 10 hours for me is enough and that got you to 15. And i didnt like JD ultimate on GB either. Im about to kdz my way back to rootable firmware and then flash cm9 nightly and have a try. (accidentally applied AT&T firmware update)
^Your standards are sort of low? 10 hours??? Phone should last a day (less sleep) - 16-17 hours. I have a skyrocket, a captivate, this P930, and now a one X and the battery life is just unacceptable on the P930. Bad enough I'm gonna have to ditch it.

Well everyone is different so yeah 10 hours is good enough for me. Just need something where i dont have to plug it in when im out of the house from 7 to 5 and thats fine. i got the extended anyway so it wont be bad but yeah i would be fine with 10 hours. also, the nitro, is actually not bad. im running stock and its not as slow as people make it seem. its definitely faster than my old infuse (over clocked and optimized with custom rom). The only doubts i had was the battery thats why i got the extended and have the stock as backup. but everyone is different. if you want to ditch it then its up to you, but its a good phone.

The main reason I HAD to switch to CM9 was that the colour gradients on the screen in gingerbread were driving me crazy. GB doesn't support the 1280x720 pixels our phone pushes, but ICS does

I agree, my post came off as sort of harsh, didn't mean it do. I'm just disappointed. I liked the Nitro so much, but something is seriously wrong with the battery life. The battery is plenty big, we make sure no apps are misbehaving....but the battery life is AWFUL. Waayyyyy worse than any similar phone. It's a bummer.
ok ok, we get it.

^No, what I have is a problem. And since you have "good" battery life, I thought maybe you can share a solution. I wonder if there's a voltage issue or something with the stock kernel. We run the same chipset as the skyrocket, right?

Htc One X -battery life

hello everyone, i am new to this community, sorry for my bad english, i would need some help. i have a htc one x for several weeks now, and i have a hudge problem with the battery life on this device, im a really hudge fan of htc, but im dissapointed, so for example, i have 9/10 lines of battery life in my settings menu, i plug it in , and start playing dead space, after 40 mins of playing the battery actually dropped by 2 lines , and i had left 7/10 lines of battery. how is that even possible??! all the phones i had, laptops, etc that require a battery worked in the folowing order: if you plug it in and took the battery out, it still worked, so if you had the battery in, it both keept alive the phone/laptop/every device on the world, while charging the battery, so if you use it, it wont loose power, but gained it. i wached a lot of videos and posts of people explaning hot to get more guice out of htx one x , and some wore like, well , dont use it too much, or do ont turn on your phone to see the clock cause it will save some battery..... ?!?! well i dodn't pay a ton of money to have a phone in my pocket and not be able to see what the time is, or play something/ lisen to music , without actually noticing that in 2-3 hours i wont be able to make a call, yes its a strong phone, and verry good one, by design, by hardware, and software, but the sad thing is the battery, does anyone have a mirracoulous tip for me? and perhaps others as well... (oh and i charged it as ppl from htc told me, first three times with the battery empty for 8 hrs..)
the battery will run out whilst charging, under heavy usage, because the phone is using more power than the charger can provide.
laptop chargers can handle this, simply because the charger provides more power to it. (and the fact laptop batteries tend to be several times the size of the hox)
you should only find that whilst using a battery/cpu intensive task such as navigation (it uses GPS, data sometimes, and the screen is on) that the charger won't be enough, but for most other things, like general web browsing etc, the charger will do it quickly enough
the screen is what takes basically all of the battery, so you can reduce that by making the screen brightness a bit less bright..
the battery life when the screen is off is incredible. WAY better than any other phone i've had. when the screen is off, the phone uses about 1% battery every 2 hours or so. and that was with wifi etc connected and autosync still switched on.
whether the phone will last you all day or not, depends on your usage. if it doesn't, then either make the brightness even lower, or you can purchase a portable charger. or a battery case.
there's no point saying well other phones have better battery life like an iphone. lets be realistic, the iphone DOES NOT have better battery life. it may have had decent standby battery life, but so does tegra 3, probably better than iphone now. when you actually use an iphone, or any other smartphone for that fact, the battery disappears just as quickly as this one does.
Tegra 3 standby is awesome. Just tried an experiment. Please note that this is with 3g or WiFi on all this time and with auto sync.
Again this is just to demonstrate standby time.
For the op, are you sure you don't have a rogue app? Also are you using an HTC charger?

i know stand by is awseome, and i am using the original out of the box charger and cable, but i might go ahead since i know a thing or two about electronics and modify the charger at 2 amps vs 1 amp currently.. this will give me faster charging, but im still researching, cuz i have second toughts

Unlikely. Unless the phone knows it can draw 2 amps, it has to assume a 1A capable charger (designated by connecting the data pins together).

I used it all 11 hours. Mostly reading second book of Game of Thrones in Kindle app. Checked some net sites, xda forum app, some blogs. Few calls and texts. All the time on wifi. Was sick in bed. Auto brightness, but as my eyes didn't liked strong sun is can say that it was quite dim inside.
But it probably depends on usage. Yesterday I was reading on the beach and I had 4 hours screen on time. Probably brightness all the way up as it was quite hot sunny day.
On normal day I get 4-5 hours screen on time.

batteries nowadays can resist pretty much, and unlike a laptop battery that has a chip in it and it records every charge, and then after x charges it suddeny stops working correctely this is cuz of the company chip they insertet to make is useless after x charges, a phone battery is just a normal one, this is tested, i opened a laptop battery and took the chip out, and via com port on pc, i was able to retrive the data storred by the company that produced it, but was not able to reset it, (comsporacy) lol . so i will buy a htc battery, not necesarry one x's and i will test it my charging it a couple o times bowth with the amp maxed, from 1 to 2 (1,1..1,2 etc) and voltage from 5 to 10 V, maby ill get a result, that is a little better than the technique i saw a couple pages away about charging your phone, then powerring it off, charging it again, then pwr on charging it again etc, forgot the method name, but in my opinion bubjecting a rechargable battery to so manny fluctuations of current in so little time does not sound good, my idea of amping the charger or the voltage by just a little sounds a little better in my opinion

you have a lot to learn then.. Batteries can explode, and they do: here's a video of some guys iphone setting on fire in his back pocket, turned out to be the battery that caused it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIRXDeEzlcw&feature=youtube_gdata_player
That isn't my pure reasoning behind my thoughts anyways, whatever experiments you do with higher amp chargers won't do anything, because the phone won't accept more charge than the circuitry allows. Which happens to be a safe amount for the battery. This is so the battery doesn't get damaged, and in some circumstances, set on fire or explode.
If you take the battery out and start prodding things at it and take it over its limits, be prepared for fire or explosion. Like Ben said, put yourself and only yourself at risk if you choose to do it.. And be wise and have a fire extinguisher ready.

I've been having the same issue as well. The stock ROM on HTC one X drains the battery rapidly. For me, In normal day which includes listening to music, playing games, browsing and making calls, my battery would last maximum up to 20 hours; meaning that every night when I go to bed I had to charge it for the next day.
This problem was battling me a lot. I learned that the stock ROM is taking advantage of all (4) CPU's and memory even while in idle. The whole battery consumption relies on the CPU usage and Memory management.
I moved to a custom ROM called ViperX 2.6.0. I'm very satisfied with the result. It seams that they've managed the CPU and memory in a very good and neat way. The ROM has a lot of tweaks.By default, when installing the fresh ROM and wiping the battery stat, the battery would last one and half a day. By doing a number of simple tweaks such as disabling the animations on transitions, disable fast dormancy and disable smart sync you can have the battery up to two days.
Check the attachment, it's a screen shot of my battery usage.
Hope this helps.

How the hell are you getting this much screen time ?!
I dim the screen to the lowest brightness and disable

oh, and If I use it outside it lasts even less 2-2.5h.

I can get 4+hrs screen on time with auto brightness, auto sync, stock cpu levels with wifi on.

AOSP roms get much less battery life than Sense roms, 3hrs screen on time is about average.
I'm currently running CM10 with Neo kernel 7.2 @ 1.3GHz and getting almost 4hrs screen on time. With Faux kernel it was usually around 3hrs.
Chrisjcks, what do u mean by "your phone is knackered"?!
Its a new phone! I just got it 2 weeks ago.
Michealtbh, it may be somthing with the APOP rom, but I really
hate using sense ... I want to try this Neo Karnel first,
Can I just flash it on my cm10? (without wipe)
Where can I get it?

Your phone is fine.
You can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873615
You have to flash the boot.img through fastboot then the modules in recovery. You're probably using CM10 kernel atm

Ok, but don't moan of battery if you are running a beta (alpha) custom rom.
The HTC ONE X battery is fine, especially after the sense 4.1/4.0.4 upgrade from 2.17

Michealtbh, Thanks!
I'll try that soon. (it's stable, right?)
I'm now testing the new Nightly.. it's real good and battery life,
seems promising, looks like I'll get 3.5-4h of screen time there
(No sync with low brightness though)
chrisjcks, I'm not using alpha roms, just the stable ones.
and this DOES feel very bad battery life to me, I come to the hox
from Motorola milestone, and there I could easily get 7-8 hours
of screen time with wifi. (and it has smaller battery and 40% overclocked!!)
How much do you get on the new stock?
When I was on stock i remember it ran out after half a day,
only using it for music and taking some videos.
Battery life varies a lot. On stock in London I get a full day screen time of around 2-3 hours with 3G on all the time. Which for me is fine.
Last weekend I was in Portsmouth and the signal was very patchy and my phone died within 10 hours. Hardly any screen on time.
So it does really depend and will vary for user to user depending on your signal and how the phone is set up.
Mine is usually on auto brightness, and auto syncing on.
Today I've been at home as I've got a damn cold but my screen on time is over 4 hours in good signal and wifi. Same setup. So you can gather from this that signal, data used, etc can affect battery life in many ways.

Hows your Battery life, Performance Etc

Hey guys, I really do want this phone, but before I buy it I want to know how things are for the phone
Is the battery life good? I hear that it comes with a 2000mah battery but offers up to 30% extra due to the power saving options, do you get more then 3hours screen on time? my Galaxy S3 and nexus 4 get around 2.5/3 hours max which just isnt good enough
Does it get dangerously hot? I want this phone not because of the camera, processor or anything like that, I want it for its build quality, saying that its made of metal and obviously metal absorbs heat, does it get really hot? also the hotter the battery the worse battery life you get if im not mistaken?
Is the performance any good? some people say it sluggish, some people say its good, Ive seen a few videos and the UI seems smooth and elegant but it would be nice to read it from people who have had the device for more then a day. Also, its a quad core A9 at 1.5ghz why does it run so badly on Antutu? i saw a 130000 score before, roughly the same as a tegra 3 if im not mistaken. I know benchmarks dont mean anything, but im a benchmark junkie
Hows connectivity? In my area its normally pretty good, although ive read it drops out sometimes
thanks for reading and I hope you reply with some good comments
Jack
the battery works for about one day ... think it could be better ...
the perfomance is pretty good, maybe the people telling, that it is poor, have an old firmware e.g. B104 in germany ...
when playing a long time or watching video, it could get warmer, but for me, it is not hot ...
alltogether :good:
I can normally get two days of light use from the 'phone (well from 6am day one to 6pm on day two). However, something has a tendency to hog the processor if I leave it switched on overnight. If I switch the 'phone off (power down) over night (from 11pm to 6am) I can easily get three or four days use. I use the 'phone mostly for sending a few texts, half an of web browsing in the evening on the bus (which warms the 'phone up) and an hour of BlueTooth music on the bus morning and evening. This uses around 20% battery per day.
I find that in everyday use the 'phone has plenty of processing power. Scrolling through the BBC News app is smoother than my old Xperia Z.
Connectivity seems fine and compared to my old Xperia Z and the iPhone 5 certainly no worse, although with the current official firmware, the signal gauge seems to constantly go from 2 bars to no signal and back again. Both my workplace and my home are in relatively low signal areas anyway and often don't get much above one bar unless stood in the right corners of the house or workshop so I struggle for signal due to my location. Having said that, despite the gauge showing little or no signal, I don't suffer from having no connection (at least no more than with the other two 'phones) and sending messages or reading websites on the bus across the transmitter blackspots of The Lincolnshire Wolds is no less reliable than any other 'phone I've used in these locations.
I think this is the best 'phone I've owned for a long time. I've not liked a 'phone as much since my HTC HD Mini, including the iPhone 5 and Xperia Z already mentioned.

Thanks for the reply, it seems that with newer firmware the phone has gotten better? Im thinking if i were to root the device and underclock it too 1.0ghz the heat would go down and also save a bit of battery life, I use this method on my Galaxy S3 and get around an hours worth of screen on time
Let me know what you think, Jack
I have p6 and sgs3LTE and i can tell u for sure the p6 lasts 45% longer and my p6 kills my sgs3LTE in benchmarks

Battery life is not best for me... I've "Cell Standby" which drains battery, but it will be fixed in next updates i think. Phone gets warm when using, but not too much.
Perfomance is good enough for me, and maybe it will be better on next firmwares. I suggest you to flash B111 rom, you can find it from Development forum. I got 13 200 score from Antutu benchmark with B107 firmware, and 14 400 with B111.
In overall .. you have to buy this phone ! Its amazing

14 400 isnt that great considering the Xperia Z ( 1.5ghz quad SD S4 pro ) scores 21 000 But its smooth, and thats all i care about
Huawei P6 Getting to hot while web browsing
Hi guys,
Have you experience cell phone over heating just doing web browsing? And consequently having fast battery drain?
Regards!
On B106, Usually I have to charge my phone twice in a day. Due to heavy Wi-Fi usage and games, now upgraded to B107 lets hope the situation gets better.
normally its worth your money

For battery, within standby, it only uses 2~3% while the whole night (from 11.pm to 7.am). So, normally, u can use more than 36h, if u dont paly many many games.
For the temperature, its warm not hot, but i found some apps are hot, and the same others are only a little warm, i think the CPU and system optimize is not good enough for normally use. So the performance, i think it has the same problem.
Err, forgive my poor english......

My wifi is always disconnected while game or online video, and the wifi router is just by my side.
Do u have the same problem?
