Dear all,
I have recently flashed CM7 Nightly Build 92 for my Desire Z and there is a strange font issue with my apps' icon labels in application drawer as attached (sorry can't post link)
The sentence ends like th....[][][][]
It happens for SMS preview in the notification bar as well.
More information:
I am using ADW Launcher EX and Minimalist Theme (Both Minimalist Theme Chooser and ADW Theme).
I have used some Minimalist MetaMorph files.
I have flashed Ubuntu font as attached. (Did this before when I was using earlier CM7 Build but no such issue)
Would really appreciate any fix on this as this is kind of annoying and unpleasant to see.
Thank you very much!
P.S. I am aware there is a similar thread in Desire Forum but yet there is no fix provided.
Here is link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840806

No one has similar problem?
I have had a similar problem when I used the Ubuntu font. Figure it's one of two things:
1.) The font doesn't have the characters that Android is asking it to display
2.) The ROM is using a weird character set.
Thank you for your reply, toskies.
I have flashed the same ubuntu font.zip when I was using earlier CM 7.0.0 (OS 2.3.3) and it was fine until I flashed Nightly Build 92 (OS 2.3.4)
So I wonder if there is any Ubuntu font for 2.3.4 that would fix the problem?
i have that problem i think it's because the font size is to big, when i flash a smaller font it doesn't happen
I'm currently on 7.0.3 stable and when I switch to the Ubuntu font, this happens. However, my normal font is Cabin and it displays correctly.
I ran into a similar problem with a version of Helvetica on CM 7.0.3. The problem in my case was with the font file. It was missing the glyph for a no break space.
There's a short discussion of the problem on Stack Overflow. It should come up if you google: "zero width no-break space" android.
(Apologies for not including a link. I'm not able to link outside xda yet.)
The ubuntu font you're using may have the same problem. If so, you can fix it with FontForge. It's just a matter of copy and pasting the zero width no-break space glyph from a font that includes it (e.g., DroidSans) into the ubuntu font you're using. It's a bit tedious, but not too difficult.
I tried using Fontcreator to do this but i could not figure out how to search for the "zero width no-break space". I tried to install Fontforge but i have no idea how to get it to work. Could you post some instructions?

I am using the program FontForge and I have located the character U-FEFF in DroidSans (ZERO WIDTH NO BREAK-SPACE) and copied it, but my question is: where, when I open up my selected custom font with FontForge, do I paste this character? Does is need to be in a specific place? Unfortunately, the version I have of FontForge is partially in Japanese, which only adds to my confusion.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
EDIT: If you have the issue described above, see this thread for the solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874658

Not working on Imagio
This is exactly what I want to do but it is not working on the Verizon Imagio running default rom and Windows Mobile 6.5. When I set a lockscreen picture it doesn't do anything anywhere. What file defines the background image anyway? Have been developing sotware for years new to windows mobile.
Can you add time interval so that program could change Wallpaper, for example every hour ??
Would be cool if there were options: Add folder, and Set time interval
PLEASE!!
like diamond backroungchanger for example
Yes, the ability to randomly change the locked background (from a folder) would be great! I could finally ditch S2U2 - because of some issues it has with my phone...

Hello,
I started this thread where all the flipfonts are collected because the big thread in the vibrant section was deleted. All the fonts are apks created along to the guide I wrote (based on ritalin's work) at the second post.
Below there is a link poiting to the post where I gathered the apks I created in order to fulfill the latest requests!
How to make flipfonts work on ics/jb roms and devices:
1) Install the app iFont (from the google Play Store)
2) Run the app (it should create a folder on your files) and then close it
3) Place your custom font .apk file on the root of that folder
4) Run iFont again, select the "Local" tab. Your font should be there. Select it and tap "Set".
The app will require you to reboot your phone. When you do, it's done.
Also pay attention:
all the fonts I recently created don't work on gingerbread systems.if you are running gingerbread and want a special flipfont, please let me know!
Feel free to join this thread and request new flipfonts or create and share ones. Please, provide the fonts you wish to be created,if possible, or post the link to download it.
Latest requests fulfilled:

Very Cool man Great thread!
Comfortaa Bold wayt to go!!!
Btw most of them you have aren't TrueType or how its called. They dont display diacritics for my language ľščťžýáí etc . Could you please edit the description it?
The Comfortaa Bold is very nice, I LIKE SMALL, even when small still very good readable. But when when white its kinda overlapping together. You dont have something so nice like that small as it, but a pixel more spaces in between?.
(Maybe small ubuntu, tahoma, verdana, bold )
And again thanks!
Zegoe Font from MS Zune: http://db.tt/I1Yjr3i

That files are in framework, not in dialer.apk
Sent from my Galaxy S powered by VA GREEN
I thought so, you will not know the name of that image?
Thanks
Id also like to know all the files responsible for the theme on the dialer tabs and on the contact tabs.
Look for files starting with "tab...". There's about 8 of them.
And there are files starting with tw_tab...
The files that start with "tab" are used for other applications. Like SuperUser, Speedtest.net, etc.
The "tw_tab" files are for the Contacts and Dialer.
Im using an incomplete theme as of now and I would like to revert some thing back to stock till they are completely themed, apart from the contacts and dialer tabs the mms application seems to be a bit themed ( w/o the use for any new mms.apk ) I want to revert the colors on the bar that says messaging and new message and also revert the colors back from green to white.. basically reverting it back to the stock look.
Thank you very much for the help, at the end thanks to your replies have been unable to locate where those files are not on the framework-res.pak, are in Twframework-res.apk.
could you please tell me what exact files they were.
Cheers
Well i think you can find icons on the tab in this place:
DialerTabActivity->drawable-hdpi
Files are:
form left to right
1 - call_dial_tab_dialer_normal.png
2 - call_dial_tab_call_normal.png
3 - call_dial_tab_favorites_normal.png
4 - dialer_tab_contact_button_normal.png
Last one is different 'cause is a button that opens another panel....
There's also '_focused' version for the first three and '_pressed' for the last.
If you want to change background you have to find in
twframework-res.apk->drawable-hdpi the following files
tw_tab_focused.9.png
tw_tab_focused_ss.9.png
tw_tab_pressed_ss.9.png
tw_tab_selected.9.png
tw_tab_selected_ss.9.png
tw_tab_unselected.9.png
tw_tab_unselected_ss.9.png
To have them trasparent make them to the same color of the background. I made the black so i see only icons.

So, I checked the Live Blog of today's event, and I loved the new fonts Google has designed for ICS, called Roboto. I just had to get it.
I grabbed the system dump, and here's a flashable Zip for the fonts. Tested on CM7, should work on all ROMs. (Sense not tested). Nandroid backup before flashing, just in case. (Update - Attached the Flashable Stock Font Pack as well. In case something goes wrong, or, you simply need the old fonts back)
Also managed to find the wallpapers and ringtones attaching them. (Not resized, but I believe you are upto it). Wallpapers is not a Flashable Zip. Just a simple zip with the images.
Fonts (Related Attachments - FontPack-Roboto_E2.zip, FontPack-STOCK.zip)
- The Clock Widget in the screenshots (This, and for the Wallpapers Actual Preview is Simi Clock Widget)

FAQ's:
Q: The font didn't apply? There are no changes?
A: Firstly, make sure the font genuinely has not applied. The difference is pretty subtle, so, it is possible to miss it. First, check the lockscreen clock font. if it has still not applied, you probably have to try an alternate method to install these. Here is a before/after pic for comparison between the fonts.
Comparison Case 1
Before | After
Comparison Case 2
Before | After
Q: The flashable Zip did not work
A: Firstly, in case your phone hangs / bootloops, try again. There are quite a few members for whom this zip worked in the 2nd attempt. Fortunately, there are a ton of other ways to install fonts. Assuming you did not get into a bootloop, you can try one of these methods:
- Font Changer App from the Market
- ADB
- Terminal Emulator
Q: What about Non-root GS1/ GS2 users?
A: You are going to have to create a Flipfont APK file for the same in that case. The method is posted here.
In case you just want the readymade APK, it is available here. (Check the complete thread before installing)

Ok after a request here i decide to give it a try to create this as i wanted too and also as i see that many asked it...this is created using as base a CM10.1 custom rom i think it will work unchanged with official CM10.1 rom but i dont think it will work with any other roms like AOKP or PA,Pacman...you need to edit it a bit to make it work...
I choose chrome based windows cause pretty like that what i wanted..you can try by changing a single .png file but you may having problems with application title..cause its coded to show in the place that chrome window have space...
Anyway this is my 2nd "Theme" called it what ever you liked

The distortion on the recent apps may caused by two reasons...
1)I have changed my dpi to 268 by editing build.prop
2)I have put wrong pixels size to thumbnails

2. Chrome Browser style

Thanks @vicino for his tutorial
Thanks @evilisto for his tutorial too
I needed both tutorials to make this work!!
Ok to make this work...
1)Follow everything on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2116735
1a)6. Go to framework-res\es\values\dimens.xml and change thumbnail height and width size to:
Here it ask you to change this two values to 160 and 240 as i do but as you can see it stretces my images so you may need to play with those values a bit!!
2)After this you need to have the two files a post...and you need to take YOUR APK same xml's and compare them with mine...for this i use this, i myself only edit what different on "MINE" xmls only..i left the APK'S xmls extra stuff as it is...
3)Do the same with the 2nd xml i have upload
4)Compile your apk and check your log if you had errors on compiling..
Its not extremly difficult the key part is to compare the two xml's and edit the right stuff...its not hard but need 40-45minutes to double check all the time the code on xmls!!
Have fun!
