32 GB memory card problem (fake?) - Galaxy S II Accessories

I bought Sandisk micro sdhc memory card 32GB class2. When I recorded video and tryed to see video in my phone, there is message "file not supported". When I made pictures some of them are not there, they gone or I cannot see them. you think I bought fake card?Or is it just slow for this phone?I payed £45 on Amazon website!

I had the same problem.
I bought a 32gb card, it says it has 32gb free space, but you can only write about 2gb of files on it. apparently mine was a fake, and its seems like yours is a fake one too.
if it was £45 you should try to reclaim your money

From the top of my head, I think SanDisk only makes 32GB Class 2 microSD cards and not Class 4.

Sorry you are right. It is class2. I changed.

I hope my one is just faulty.I received my card in "oroginal" red package (small red folder) What about yours?

I have a Sandisk 32 GB class 4 and it works great!

Ok I am confused now. On the vack of the package is class2 but on the memory card is class4.I found this link and class4 should be ok

sandisk do a class 4 now i ordered 32gig from amazon fake
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GENUINE AND FAKE Sandisk 32 GB micro SD:
1. Package: The genuine pack is sealed and cannot be split open. The fake is just pasted at the edges and my fake item was all loose inside. Again, as far as I am aware, Sandisk does not provide any SD adaptors (Kingston does) but nearly all eBay items have a `free adaptor' inside the same pack.*
2. Check the barcode: If you have a iPhone with a barcode facility (like a Amazon/eBay app), check the barcode on the reverse of the pack. My fake eBay item barcode read 4GB instead of 32 GB.*
3. Check the external details: Sandisk, currently only makes Class 2 for its 32 GB micro SD cards and I confirmed this from Sandisk helpline in the US. eBay sellers are selling fakes as `Class 6 - 10' !!!*
4. Check the inner details: Once you open the pack, check the card. All genuine cards should have a serial number and a manufacturing country's identity. Fake ones neither have any such details and the external details are painted in a hazy style (see photo).*
5. The Catch: When you put in a fake micro SD card for the first time, you will be surprised to find that it reads the correct GB in the properties. Apparently the goons have made a software which enables the card's storage properties to give out a false capacity. One way to check this is to copy at least 60% date of the `claimed' capacity and check the card in 2-3 days time. There will be lost data in all fake ones.*
6. Finally the functionality: Download a simple programme called H2testw (ver 1.4) from the internet. It is German software and the most recommended to test all your portable media including micro SD cards. My fake one showed only 3.96 GB capacity instead of 32GB as claimed.*
7. Where to buy: spend the extra bit of money and buy from genuine big dealers. Amazon is always one of my foremost places but keep away from Amazon Marketplace since the same firms also sell in eBay i.e they are mostly shady and refunds will need a lot of wrangling. Of course, you might occasionally be lucky (as yours truly had hoped!), but one would probably need to be as dumb as me to follow my steps (till I became wiser!.*
Hope these steps help the next prospective buyer. Feel free to correct me if you do not agree!
*Counterfeit direct from Amazon
*18 April 2011 By SteveI have read that many of these cards sold over the internet are counterfeit. Therefore I decided to pay a*...*Surprisingly fast
thank me

Hi guys
Just wanted to let you know i bought a 32GB card off harry_p187 on eBay for £24. Here's a link
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220791513093&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123
Well, i tested it overnight using h2testw. It was going for over 12 hours and this morning it was still not finished! Anyway, it said only about 800MB was ok, the rest was lost data. I've attached a pic (hopefully it works!).
So i emailed the guy asking for a refund. Here was his response:
Hi ! Firstly I appreciate the amount of bogus bad Chinese card sellers there are on eBay who are selling these type of cards and ripping good buyers like yourself off we are certainly NOT one of these our stock is from a verified UK supplier !, secondly we are acutely aware of h2test software as it's what we use to verify all our cards work and are full capacity before sending to our customers !, please check all our previous feedback regarding this item we've sold over 90 cards not one person has commented that the cards we sell are fake under capacity or anything close to this every single person has been satisfied we are genuine trusted eBay sellers who genuinely care about our customers and sell genuine full 32gb cards, if we was selling anything other than 32gb it would be impossible to gain perfect feedback ! The item we believe must of been damaged in the post or damaged after we conducted our test !, we can and will issue you with a full immediate refund as requested !
So at least i'll get my money back. Either he is lying, to try and defend his reputation, or i was just unlucky.
Anyway, thought i'd let you guys know in case anyone was thinking of trying him.

I bought a 16GB Kingston SDHC Class 6. It showed up and it was acting weird while I tried to transfer files. It got corrupted, so I spent a few hours trying to properly format it back to 16GB, but it would only format to 8GB.
I checked the packaging (everything was written in Chinese) and the card smelled like formaldehyde or super glue. The hologram was not actually a hologram. I contacted the seller and reported him to Ebay for selling fakes. He had good ratings with like 4000 sales and only 3 bad reports. He told me that it happens, occasionally they pick up fakes, they try to do occasional testing, but again.... it happens.
Fakes are rampant on Ebay, I will reconsider next time to save a few dollars.
End result
I got my money back through ebay the beginning of this month
and today i received one of the two sd card that I ordered in November and a bracelet??? lol how weird

Kingston 32GB microSDHC (class 6) - is it real?

I have just bought this for my Desire:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/32GB-KINGSTON...AsAccessories_MemoryCards&hash=item230c6c00d1
(scroll down a little cuz the listing is over, but u still can see the description)
It says that it's a brand new 32GB class 6 microSD card by Kingston, but I could not find anything about it on the net. The only 32GB Kingston cards I could find were class 4.. so, can it possibly be a fake? The seller is with 100% positive and is from UK.. What do you guys think? Maybe it's sort of a new product still to be introduced or something?
Chances are is it not a class 6 as Kingston does not list it as a product available from them.
10 Year Warranty ? I 've never heard As far as i know here we only 've 5 years Warranty for SDCards I don't know much about UK One
Well, I'd take it even if it was a class4, I would be disappointed though. I'll of course let you know about how it all went when the card arrives.
More opinions perhaps?

Well, then I just return it, and eBay offers buyers' protection, so I don't think I will lose a lot. Also, that seller really has sold a lot of things, has been on eBay since 2008 and has 99% positive feedback.. Do you really think he could be a scammer?
Also, 30 pounds is not THAT cheap, is it?

That is extremely cheap.
16gb cards go from 70+ USD (52 euros)
I bought one as well - mine is coming from Japan however =)
Ebay item=220707787049 (I'm not allowed to post outside links yet since this is my first post.
True though that Kingston does not seem to have such a product... we'll see when it gets here =) If you get it sooner, could you post a speedtest?
Yeah, I'll do that. Hope we both get lucky with these cards..
Yeah me too. Mine has just been mailed, in about a week I'll report back =)
well.. I bought a similar item, a Kingston 32gb Class 6 SDHC. It was cheap, so I had to try. Got it today, and tried a few speed tests, and only got about 2 mb/second
made a complaint on ebay, and the seller is now offering me to send him the card back, so I can get a refund... I'm more interested in seeing, if this really is a 32gb card.. so I start to copy... this is going to take a while, so I will be back with more results later
So, is the capacity real?
Ok, so I got the card. The markings look cheap and fake, the packaging - too. But the card is indeed 32GB. And, of course, not class 6. Mor like class 4, though at the very beginning the writing speed was less than 4MB/s. I can't make up my mind if I should keep it. If it's really a class 4 card, it's okay. But I'm afraid that it may corrupt my data or eventually go bad.. So, is it safe to call it a class 4 card? What would you guys do, would you keep it? Rememeber, it's price was under 50 bucks, so maybe it's worth the bet?
I attached the benchmark of it.
Ok so, isnt there some benchmark that tests if the full card is undamaged and writable? If it isnt, you still got a cheap 32 gb card... right?

Don't know if this test tests that. Dunno any other tests u can run on Ubuntu either.
It turned out to be a complete fake with less than 5GB available.. He is not getting his money. And nor is he getting that piece of **** back, for it belongs in a trash can.
I hope those *****es rot alive.
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully I will be a bit luckier. I'll report back when I've received mine...

I bought that exact same card.
When the card arrived it was slow (around 1-2Mo/s instead of 6+) but after only 3 days of regular use it stopped working.
It wasn't recognised anymore by any reader (tested in PC, Wii, camera and Android phone) and I couldn't even format it.
So I had a close look at it and noticed the product number was SDC4/32GB which is in fact the product number of Kingston's class 4 32GB micro SD. (since they never produced any class 6 32GB micro SD, only class 4 and 10). Also the inscription was a bit different from what I could see on goole image for Kingston microSD.
Finally I sent it back to the seller who gave me back my money.
Here's a pic of the card: http : // hpics.li/09be9f2
Edit: As far as my opinion goes: this card was a fake, although it's just me and I can't really prove it.
Your picture is a proof.
So I just received mine as well, package looks real but no idea if it is... Will test it tonight, no computer nearby...

Generally, Samsung cards are of very high quality. Not sure if you've ever used one but they are very reliable and are made to work. The class you pay for is the class you get.
There are other reputable card manufacturers of course, but with the widespread availability of them now, there is a much higher risk of a fake or being duped with a low class one.
As far as I know, rip off samsungs are rare if even in existence. I could be wrong.
As someone said Samsung makes good quality card, and this one is Class 10 so its speedier. I don't understand the shock/water resistent bit. Isn't flash memory shock resistent by nature?

I own this card and it is specifically rated for 1080p vid plaback and top transfer rates. You have to look beyond that someone stammped "Class 10" on thier card. If you don't believe me, buy a Wintech card and tell me how its treating you when your data is just gone one day and the card cannot be reformatted.
I payed $50 for this card and it is worth every penny.

Got my card in the mail today. What kind of speed test results do you get (using SD Tools)? I'm showing 5.1MB/s write and 8MB/s read. I also don't see any "card info" when in SD Tools. Was hoping I could see manufacturing information and a serial to prove this isn't a fake Samsung...
Real-world writing yields about 10MB/s write.
I always thought Micro SD cards were faster... then I remembered that just full-sized SD and CF are even remotely fast!

Fantastic find, I'd buy it if I didn't already have a 16 GB SD card...
Got my card today I am really happy that I bought this. It came unopened with it's original samsung packaging. Comparing with the one I bought from amazon... check the pics below.
Mistaken entry.
Ordered mine about 4/5 days ago and received it today. Although I had a 16GB (not from Samsung) and didn't use all of it up, I still went ahead and got this. Can't go wrong with it, glad I got it.
I got 10.22MB/s writing and 32.16 MB/s reading using the SD Card Tester app.
Transferring music over seems to be a lot slower than it was using my 2gb card though. Is there a preferred way of introducing a new sd card to the android operating system?

So I stumbled upon this cheap 64gb microsd. The price seems too good to be true, any experience with this?

Never buy sd cards/usb flash drives off eBay as most are fakes they say 64gb and even when u plug them in to your computer they say the said amount but most are just 4gb cards made to look like bigger amounts.

I've bought at least 10 cards from eBay and so far all have been legit, there are plenty of great sellers on eBay.
I would say though that picking a seller with a near perfect feedback helps and almost 100% of the time their prices will beat other online stores.

I managed to find a 64gb micro SD card on Amazon that looks almost identical to your Ebay link. Extremely terrible reviews -
Better off going for something like a genuine Sandisk micro SD. If you want to use it for photos and video capture then definitely go for a Class 10 version. This is only $41 at the moment - most others I found on Amazon are ~$50.
Can anyone else give any recommendations? Anyone found one cheaper than $41? I might end up getting that one from Amazon if no one else has any suggestions as there's only 14 left.

Do NOT buy Sandisk Micro SD cards, they are legit, fast and good indeed. But unfortunately they suffer of unredability on android. Eventually the disk just becomes completly unreadable and is impossible to format too. I had the 32gb from Sandisk and that happened. Currently have the 32Gb from Samsung which is pretty awsome, thou not as quick as sandisk,
No issues from my 32gb SanDisk which is easily a year old now. Been in my XT, xz and now in my xz1
Last year I purchased one of Sandisk from Fommy it was quite expensive one...but it has worked very well and has not created any trouble or malware to my phone so it was quite a bit worth of its cost and it does not make me feel of lack of memory...and one more thing there is not any problem even in data transfer too....

I have been looking at the SanDisk 64 gb and want to ask if there will be a noticeable difference between the ultra and the extreme?
Thanks,

The extreme is faster no doubt, but if you are using it for music and pictures you won't notice much difference. If you transfer lots between your PC and phone it might be worth it. I have both and I don't see a major difference unless I'm transferring. Might be worth the upgrade if your doing lots of HD video though. Mind you the extreme is almost double the price.
Just be Sure its Class 10

So I stumbled upon this cheap 64gb microsd. The price seems too good to be true, any experience with this?
EDIT seems as though these may be fake low capacity cards formatted to shows as 64gb from what I see on google! beware

Don't even try to buy that card, is 100% fake, sold as 64GB but is 2 or 4Gb effectively. You can post me any link or picture and I will recognize fake from real. If you buy that card on your own risk test it at first with "h2testw". You will find thousand of GB data lost.

Maybe you brought the card and realized they don't have full capacity? Who believe you if nobody confirm that what you saying. I did my part not for you but for others people.

SD card?

After purchasing a faulty/fake Samsung pro 64gb SD card, it sort of made me feel paranoid about SD cards. But now I'm running out of internal memory for my Note3 and would love to have more room.
Do you guys have any experience with the sandisk extreme or extreme plus 64gb sd cards or Samsung pro 64gb sd cards?
I would like to buy a card that I can use without it crapping out on me 6 months down the road (heard it was common for the sandisk ultra 64gb cards to do that so I'm trying to stay away from those).
SanDisk is a great company, never had a problem with any of my sdcard cropping out on me. You just need to buy from a trusty reseller like Amazon and not ebay which is full of fake sdcard and scams. 64gb SanDisk will run ya about 40$ and the 128gb will run ya 119$

I gave amazon another go, but this time I made sure to purchase directly from Amazon.
Pulled the trigger and went with the new Samsung Pro 64GB, which supposedly isn't even released yet (at least that's what it shows on amazon) until the 30th of this month.

Any card can fail, for many different reasons, so regardless of card maker I would do backup on regular basis, just in case. Most companies will replace broken card under warranty and if you have backup of all the data it's just minor inconvenience.
I had this problem also, and bought a card from overseas. Was tagged with company name and everything. but crashed my phone. I bought the card for like $20 cheaper than anybody else had it for, thinking i was gonna get a great deal. Back to American logic. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Remember you get what you pay for. If somebody has it for significantly less then everybody else, it's probably a fake. My own personal experience.

yep, learned the hard way.
On my fake Samsung 64gb, it had a giant CE in the back and says made in................taiwan -_-
Stay away from sandisk sdcard with red/grey color if you want to use on samsung devices. I had two 32gb sandisk microsd card failed on my previous galaxy s3, both were sold by Amazon directly. Both cards failed when I was downloading several files simultaneously for half an hour. Maybe they are good for light use, not for intensive writing.
You can google about the issue of sandisk sdcard with samsung phones.

Yeah I was reading about that, but it seemed that it was only the older Sandisk Ultra ones. Didn't see too many issues with the extreme and extreme plus, except from the 1 or 2 GoPro owners that had their SD card corrupt on them.

I have the class 10, but don't think i have ever done intensive writing on that. Thanks for posting about the r/w problems on that card.
I don't also trust cheap prices, better buy the exact price than buying a cheap one that could cost you more.
Well this sucks, I pre-ordered on the 28th of April and the shipping says it should be between May 6th - May 10th, which was fine. But everyday I would lurk on that ad and I noticed it says Usually ships within 1 to 2 months.
Logged onto amazon and my shipping updated to May 30th - June 6th. Ended up cancelling the order and ordered directly from the Samsung website for a few dollars more. Hopefully I will receive it in a timely matter.
How many shipping days on Samsung website?

I think the issue with Amazon is that they ran out of the 64gb cards. If you select the 16gb and 32gb then it's shipped in a timely matter.
Yes the 64gb were usually the most purchased and in demand nowadays.Especially in sandisk.

You know that is a waste to buy for a phone right? The phones can't read/write that fast, they don't support but 20mb/sec transfer speeds. If I were you i would just get the regular 64MB that transfers at 30mb/sec. Unless you want to put the card into a reader and transfer directly to the card and put it back in the card there isn't a need to spend the money on a card that fast.

I'm the type that transfer plenty of movie, music, and data onto my phone using a card reader and putting it into my phone.
