Possible to Brute Force Signature? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I was just wondering what the chances of using something like this http://www.golubev.com/hashgpu.htm
To brute force the encryption key used to sign the phone are?
Might be silly, might be crazy - I have no idea how to go about that or even how many characters/digits we are talking about. I understand it could be astronomical but is there some way to divvy up the attempts?
I have a Radeon HD 5770 as I'm sure a lot of people have similar or better around here. Here is some more info:
http://www.golubev.com/blog/?p=20
I'm sure many far smarter than me have disregarded this option but hey...never hurts to try!

isnt it like 256 bit encryption or something like that?
honestly, i dont know anything, but it seems to me like that just wouldnt work. Itd be sweet if someone could make it work

Even with modern GPU computing, it could take several lifetimes to find the correct key. We'd have to get EXTREMELY lucky.

I have four GTX 580's and another rig with three GTX 480's I think I'm up for the challenge.

Thread moved to proper forum.

will Android ever be complete?

Not trying to be a jerk, this is a sincere question. I really like my Tilt2 and don't want to get a newer phone with Droid on it. My phone is really, imo, built solid and has almost never failed to perform. I know it's a little heavy, but that doesn't bother me. I really would love to have a fully functional Droid that I could use. Mainly because I really don't like Apple and won't get an Iphone, even though I think the I-4 is a cool phone. Is there anything I can do as a forum member to help get this project further along? I was wondering if we could all maybe tackle 1 thing each and help out. Might not be anything I can do, but I'm willing to help if I can.

I don't think anyone can be sure that Android will ever be finished. The developers have done much for this device, but with the HD2 finally able to boot the Linux kernel, I think most of the support we had will move towards getting Android on better, newer, and more capable devices like the HD2. In addition, most of the remaining problems with getting Android completely working are the ones that were very difficult to begin with. Things like initializing hardware correctly, and figuring out how to get the various parts of the device to talk to each other. I'm honestly kind of doubtful that we will see more development with Android on the Pro2, since AFAIK only one person is working on it (though I hope I'm wrong).
it seemed at first that android for the touch pro would never work but now the only thing that doesnt work is the camera. maybe the touch pro 2 will get to that level some day. who knows.
So from what I gathered, the Tilt 2 won't be having any further development to work with Android? I also still have my Fuze. Is that development continuing? If so, maybe I will keep my Fuze instead of selling it and use it to test with Android?
By the way, what is the real name for the Tilt 2? Is it Rhodium or ?
Thanks guys, this place really ROXS!
I await your replies!

I'm not sure what you mean by complete. New builds are released all the time, etc. If you mean all hardware functioning, here is the list from Reefer's thread:
NOT WORKING IN THIS BUILD:
BT
Sound (in call mic and earpiece work, no ringtones or music)
Camera
Opengles: using software rendering for the time being.
Battery Meter
For sound, look here: http://www.ppcgeeks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121743
One guy has made an NDISwrapper for Android...amazing.
For HW3D, look here: http://www.ppcgeeks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125379
Battery Meter is working very well. It's not accurate (seems like it's 10-15% off) but it shows low, which means you can get charged up in time with no problems. I also recall phhusson saying this WILL be 100% some day, it's just very tedious and time consuming, and everyone is more concerned with making things run better and on more hardware.
In other words, development is still very much active and some very smart people are working on these problems. I believe Mr. Steve Ballmer said it best here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zEQhhaJsU4
If you're patient, more of the pieces will come together soon enough and Android for our device will be more complete (relatively speaking). For the record, I'm very content with the state of things. All development from here is just icing on the cake
Mods, if I'm not supposed to link to outside forums, just delete them and/or let me know. That's just where the more technical info is.
i thought sound was fixed already today there was a new build for rhodium?.
i think sound just got added but not for music. I think they upgraded the sound in the earpiece and speaker works now.

This is incorrect. Please leave the release posts to those doing the releasing.

This is also incorrect. TP2 development is moving along faster now than it has been in a while. Not everyone wants a HD2 just beacuse it can boot android. Sure it has a fancy screen but no hardware keyboard, so i'm not even considering it as an option for a new device. Also, for future reference there are quite a few more than just one person working on this...
Also, define finished? The OS itself is in constant development. Will Android itself ever be finished? I hope not.

ok, point taken. When will Android ever be fully functional on the Tilt 2 phone?
Now! Then! No, Then! When it's done. This isn't a native OS, don't go in expecting perfection. Go in expecting nothing and be amazed with every update. The alternative is to port it yourself. Good luck with that.

My initial question was pretty point blank. Don't expect perfection, just would like full functionality on my phone because I like the AnDroid OS. The question was never meant to be a gripe, not sure why it struck a chord with you. I don't know how to port it, so luck is not needed. Thanks anyway

Are you serious?!?! What you are asking is very disrespectful because You obviously haven't even read the FAQ/WIKI because it states:
5) When will the next release be out? I can't wait to get more features on my phone!
The next release will be out when the developers are able to get it ready. They are contributing their time for free and can't work on it full time. If you want to help speed development, make a donation to one of the main developers to help encourage them, don't pester them by asking a million times when the next release will be out when they won't know until it is ready.
hope this helps clear things up.

You might as well wait a few months, there will be a bigger, better, brighter android (as we have seen the last few months) - if you can't wait, the HD2 is very nice.

you didn't have a clue mmh ? what where you thinking ? that those people are well paid for doing it, and because of that your in position to come here and whine ?
and it's nothing about wearing hearts on sleeves, since it's only repeating the obvious like breaking in open doors.
however, I have some question :
Is it possible to have a feedback from some developer if it is a question of money to make things go further. if yes, what would it be approximately.
because, it is nice to encourage people to donate, but I didn't read anywhere from some person actually working on the project that it is indeed a question of money.
maybe this would be the first thing to find out ? from the developers side, is there anything that "non-aware" people can make to get things go further ?

[Q] Anyone else think the dev-ing on this phone is pretty much dead?

Lurker since the G1 days of yore (2008) but this is my first official thread so apologies if it's in the wrong section somehow.
The few devs that we have here on XDA that are currently working on the MTS seem have done a great job thus far, but with the "better", perhaps easier to mod, Galaxy S's, Droid-variants, and even other HTCs out there (and coming to town in the near future) it seems like the momentum has slowed to a near halt.
I'm currently running Eugene's CM6 with Dopio 806 oc kernel and I have a feeling that's about as good as it's gonna get; ie. 1000-1100 Quadrant, 10.7ish Linpack.
Now I understand the degree to which this post might appear ungrateful and, believe me, I'm more than thankful that I have been able to download all of this wonderful software for $0.00. I'm really flippin happy that these guys twitter each other all day long between having newborns, calculus labs, etc.. simply to provide the rest of pretty much the entire internet community with access to a sh-tload of pertinent info. That being said, short of studying Linux and the Android SDK for the next 2 years I'm not going to be able to actually offer any tangible contributions myself; simply opinions.
Thusly, I ask you guys...do you feel that the dev-ing is dying down permanently or is it just a temporary lull?
I ask because it seems very obvious to me that HD resolution and, at least, Snapdragon/Hummingbird processing speeds are gonna be the norm (for dev- friendly phones) in less than 8 months; in other words, the obsolescence of our phones seems to be creeping up faster than you can say Nokia 5190.
Thanks for reading.

No it's not surprising. It would've been surprising a month ago even but not today.
You can take Eugene and Cyan off that short-list without pause; Cyan's got too much to do and, at least for the time-being, Eugene is working on the Vibrant; and three of the latest Roms are CM6 or versions of it w/o flash capability.
I've got some figuring out to do before I can be too much help but I have every intention of creating things for this device; my beef is that i'm not just going to swap the APK filesin a rom and re-release it as a "rom" ... I see to many communities/devices who's rom selection is nothing different than swapped kernels and swapped APKs....
To be blunt about it... if you don't like the level of development going on... (And I know you're not trying to *****) then jump in or out...
There are so many people that talk about wanting to learn and wanting to do this but they never even bother to try... If your concern is the lack of contribution, then contribute! Figure it out! You havta start somewhere bro...
and if you've got beef with the espresso dev dieing down then jump in and help it out...

Yup... completely useless until a recovery has console access like amon ra's recovery. That's why no created any scripts. Besides... writing a script is no big deal anyway. Sorry to be mean but just being honest.
it's probably because of the specs of the phone. I mean I love my phone but it's so last generation.

The only bad specs are the CPU(600MHz), screen res....It has a adreno GPu like N1,desire,etc...The Legend & Aria both have the 600MHz in them too..Those are the only things, but the CPU is much better than last gen phones...It has a newer architecture than the older MSM chips. The speed surpasses older phones like G1,MT3G,Hero,eris,droid in benchmarks.

I thought that the reason Cyan isn't doing much was simply it was his wifes? Didn't he say that it was his wifes and that she was going out of the country for a couple of weeks?

what is 5point multitouch good for?

What's the point in 5point? Dotty is the only app I can think of that has anything to do with it. I'm not saying there isn't a reason, I just can't think of any reason other than just to say you have it.
Useless???
Maybe someone will develop an app that uses multi-touch gestures... I suppose that could be handy for some security app or something... I have wondered the same thing and I don't think there will ever be much need for it... At this point, it's just for bragging rights

You can play a five note chord with piano/keyboard app!
I have no clue either, but I thought I've seen around these forums that some games do multiple touches? Maybe not, thought I've seen it here...

Couldn't help myself. Seriously though, 5-point is more a gimic at this point, but somewhere down the road it could be useful.

Bragging rights.
Great for games on any emulator with a d-pad, with more than 2 multitouch points you can walk diagonally and fire at the same time.

honestly,i always get irritated when something is posted in the wrong forum... but its not due to the recent hype here @xda...
anyways, i dont know why but this did not bother me one bit.
Anyways2.0 @ OP. There's a game called NOVA {Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance}. Really similar to Halo... I like it. Well, before I could not be moving around + firing (2 fingers so far) + throw a hand grenade(or jump). Meaning I could only do two of those at the same time.
However, after flashing custom kernels (EPSON 003 no tints), Dotty showed me my device can take all 5 at once [insert sex joke o.0].
Here's the good stuff. Though I can't do all of those things at once... I can do 3 at one time. While running, I can continue to do so, shoot an enemy in the faceheadlolomgwtfs, and clip a 'nade out. So, yea : ) . As far I know, this is undocumented by Gameloft© (not that I checked).
By the way, it is not available in the Android App Market. Find it @ www.gameloft.com [on your device!].

And the problem is that most (99%) of the apps in the app store only supports 2/3 point touch max since most android hardware can only support that much.
alright. Thanks for the replies. I was just curious about it. And sorry about the wrong forum, I thought about putting it in q&a, but I figured it had to do with evo development so I put it here. But I apologize.
Seems that, as big as the screen is, 5 fingers wouldnt fit right. But for video games I suppose so. Maybe someone will invent a 5 finger tapping app that gives you a score based on accuracy and speed lol.
Thanks again.

[Q] Is there a way to port over Mango to the Kindle?

Hey there, so I'm most definitely a noob here, so I'll keep it to the point:
I was curious if there was a way to port over the Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) to the Amazon Kindle? I know there are a couple themes to bring the Metro UI to the device, but I'm more interested in a true port.
I've looked all over the place, and it doesn't seem like anyone has done anything regarding this. Either that or I'm horribly blind when it comes to searching through things.
Anyways, if anyone has any insight, or a place that I should've checked out first for information, that would be pretty awesome!
Thanks!
I thought mango only supported single core CPU.

If you can basically write an entire OS.

Quest for a better boot screen... ADVENTURERS UNIT!!!

Yeah yeah was feeling whimsical with the title...so, just embrace the molestation of your inner child and move on.
Now down to business...I have been really disappointed with most boot screens I have found around the internet. They are mostly really cheesy, to flashy and just plan suck...my own opinion of course. I am a real technological kind of guy when it comes down to these things and the last boot screen I can remember liking was that older energy star BIOS type one that was created a long ways back. I have been getting by with chainfires liveboot but have since grown kind of tired of it.
So, basically, I guess my real question is...Does any know of something like or willing to take on a challenge of creating something similar and/or more updated like that old BIOS boot up but tweaked specifically for the Pixel 2 XL?
Would enjoy creating something myself, but just absolutely horrible at stuff like this and to be honest no clue where to start. Thanks in advance for any help and morning ? out.
