Dear All,
Touch PAL has a beta version available the Touch PAL 4.0 (upgrade from 3.5), its just the best software keyboard i ever have used. Now my HD is almost perfect, such good that i even have doubts to buy the Touch PRO 2.
Thx for the heads up. I agree, no matter what other keyboard I try, just always go back to touchpal...bit of a learning curve to it but worth it as once learned its simply the best and fastest to use. Just love it!
Any link to the beta version? I recall I really liked this, but ditched it as it didn't have a landscape mode.
**EDIT** Sorry, here it is - http://www.cootek.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=854
I didnt know this software before this, post, but after try it, it is the best keyboard software by far
thanks
I have been using this since 3.5 and think it is the best ever, and now with v4.0, it simply blows everything away!
I prefer this over Fingerkeyboard2 and the HTC Touch Input.
I've started using it since it's FOC day v.1.0.. It has come quite a long way.
Like the new landscape layout (tho' I hardly use THD in that mode) and I can type as fast using the T+ layout as if I'm in portrait mode! Cool!
Now, waiting for them to load up other language pack, and hopefully add in some symbols on the T+ layout, instead of having two '.' and ','.

All languages wich already exists will also work for 4.0
You just have to modify one little thing..
Open ActiveSync and open the Device Browser and go to "My Windows Mobile based device.." then go to Program Files\TouchPal\Surfaces..
There you will see already installed languages.. now open up the directory off the language you want to have available in TouchPal 4 for example dutch.
In this directory you will see dutch.img and surface.data just simply rename the surface.data to dutch.data same as the name of the directory..
If you get the message can't modify jadajada.. then just chose another keyboard on you're device, and then it will work after the renaming you must restart you're device!!!
Happy Typing T+
For this version there are other language files?

hi
tried this for norwegian language, but did not work.
I see the language but I can not choose it.
I bought it for my kaiser and it was great. It's picked up some problems with the Touch HD implementation though. Odd fiddly bugs like the unreliable way it interacts with the HTC input selector, occasional reversion back to the WM6 keyboard and it's not brilliant with opera.
Hopefully they'll fix.
Jon
Sad to report that I lost v.4.0.. after trying to tweak the language file.. this may not be the cause, since others have not issue with it.
Basically, v.4.0 doesn't load or load up a blank page (1/2 the height of the normal keyboard size) at the bottom which doesn't disappear untile I change the SIP. Uninstall, reinstall, uninstall and install v.3.0 and reinstall v.4.0 etc all no use.. sad...
sigh..
Edit:
Solved the problem with the help from the developer. Back up your language files in Surface, uninstall TouchPal, delete all the TouchPal folder in Program File and reinstall. Then Soft reset. Viola!
Anyone tried deleting the other language file before? Is it ok? How about the Chinese language file from v.3.5? Anyone tried it yet? I have it installed, but it's the fifth one on the list at the bottom, so can't access it unless I remove one of the other language.
You will have to remove other language files before you can select another.. just installed a new rom i'm trying some other language files right now.. I will report the status of the testing

I did the above before, and I can't even get TouchPal to launch after deleting the language files that come with it.
if can't afford..using chinese version instead of cracked version..XD
The title should read "Best software keyboard - the TouchPAL 3.5"
IMO 4.0 is a step backwards, I don't use landscape keyboard so the only good thing about this update is nicer skin.
swedish dic SUCKS
This software is great and one of the best if not the best IMHO.
BUT no matter how good a software is for putting in text is. If the dic is bad there is really no use for it.
Different tempus for verbs is non existing and so cumbersome to input. the best would be if it could use the HTC dic like fingerkeyboard. Which really is the best dic a experience so far.
Other really bad thing is trying to get help on their forum to build a good Swedish dic has been non excisting. Atleast for me.
just my 2 cents

Nice keyboard indeed, and language version of djxfma works good.
Bu I miss the SMS name suggestion function of the HTC input and finger keyboard.
I will give it a try though.
Thanx for this application.
L.
It still can, just a bit more troublesome. After typing the name, press 'Space' and then delete the spacing and the name suggestion will work.
Hello all.
I'm building a barebones 6.5 ROM using ervius visual kitchen. I have been building many tests as I go along but there are several things I can't sort out due to the lack of instructions on where things are. Can you help? I really want to get this sorted & released asap!
1. I need to apply the following entries so I created a new folder in /EXT and dumped these keys into it:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE\Menu\PopFnt]
"Ht"=dword:00000381
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Messaging"]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Owner Info"]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Messaging"]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today]
"Date"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation]
"HideOrientationUI"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE\Menu]
"CUIHandler"=dword:00000000
But when the ROM is loaded only the first key has been applied. Is this a sound way to include regkeys or am I doing it wrong?
2. I need the default theme to be the HTC black. It's installed, but how do I set it as default?
3. I need to remove start menu entries (help, activesync, games, search, calculator) which I did by commenting out the entries in \OEM\Diamond\0409\OEM_Lang_0409\initflashfiles.dat but activesync & calculator still show
4. despite having Microphone AGC & Clear Storage NOT installed the icons still show up in System. How do I rid of them?
5. when I click on Camera on startmenu it complains the file "camera.exe" doesn't exist. I have installed the HTC camera package in 001_Base
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
for regedits i noticed the same thing try bundleing them into a cab or program
Eg. go to your TF3D folder and add those reg entries into the bottom of the TF3d registry list
or you can add a cab to your "config_operator.txt" list
Hi Everyone,
My name is Ofir, and I want to share with you an App called Windows phone keyboard (Great name ha? ).
This app isn't accually a keyboard. it's more like a workaround for people without a keyboard in there native language - which will help us get along with most of the critical things we need from our phone.
This app has a Keyboard-like layout, and a text box, which let you write text in every language you like, and send it to an app - like SMS, Mail, Bing, Google.
So most of the things are covered.
It's not like opening a keyboard from within a app, but it still something
I based it on the Greek keyboard (greekwp7.codeplex.com - Thanks Guys!) and added a Right to left support (Hebrew... Yes, i'm from Israel too).
I've changes the keyboard's layout for supporting one more character that was required for Hebrew.
I also added a settings page for choosing a language of YOUR choice.
Right now, English, Greek, and Of cource Hebrew are supported, but adding support for any language is easy as editing an XML file which will automatically loaded and added to the Settings page (as long as you did everything right.
There is a CodePlex page for the app which you can follow and add request (and of course add patches and languages):
This page is NOT yet published as i'm waiting for an autorization, but it will be available very soon (Hopefully tomorrow).
WPKeyboard.codeplex.com
I've attached some screenshots from the App.
This app is still not published on Marketplace, so i'm adding the XAP file here too.
OF COURSE - you will need to deploy it to your device.
If you wan't to add a language by your self, you can go ahead and do it yourself by doing the following:
1. Rename the XAP file extention to ZIP and extract it to a folder.
2. navigate to the extracted folder and look for the file \xml\languages.xml and open it for editing.
3. add a new LanguageDetails xml element (you can clone the English element and modify it)
4. Set the LanguageDetails attributes: key (should be uniqe) for the change language button, direction (LTR or RTL - all languages except Hebrew and Arabic needs LTR) for the right to left support, and caption for the language name as it will be presented on the settings page.
5. Edit the Value and Caps attributes for the keys in the newly created LanguageDetails (do NOT change the ID attribute, it is for mapping you characters to the english-based keyboard).
6. save the XML file and exit.
7. ZIP the folder again, and change the file extention to XAP again.
8. Deploy and text away!
You can leave comments and requests here, and when the CodePlex page will be opened - THERE!
Everyone who is modifing the languages XML file, please send it to me and i'll add it to the APP, so EVERYONE can enjoy your work.
After all, its all about the community right?
Hopefully, we'll be able to create a more customized (and real) keyboard like the russian guys did when modifying the spanish keyboard, but until then, this is what we have.
Have fun,
Ofir.
---------------------- UPDATE 1 ---------------------------
I've updated the app to fix the issue with the 123& button.
---------------------- UPDATE 2 ---------------------------
Now we have Beta release with Click sound and vibration, multi characters deletion and many bug fixes.
you can get it on wpkeyboard.codeplex.com.
Looks awesome! I was thinking about getting the Omnia 7 and i didnt know if i would be able to write and see text messages in hebrew. I assume that by the time i get the phone it will be published in the market so i will download it from there

Hi,
I've updated the app to fix that issue.
it should be ok now.
Please download it again.
Thank you !
Can you ad extra keys as where i'm from we have 3 more than normal?
Looks terrible
Looks interesting but I need to add the special characters of my own language as "ç", "ã", "õ", "ê", "ô", "â"...
How can I do this?
Hi,
You can use them as a caps characters, or special characters (in the &123) section.
There is no room for more characters in the first layout.
BTW- I almost finished with a new version of the keyboard that will have bug fixes, vibration and click sound when a button pressed.
I'll let you know when it will be available in CodePlex.
I know its not the easiest way, but while the right to left support is so bad on the os, its the only way to write right to left text.
Ofir.

great app pal,
however i have a problem with RTL languages like persian,
the words in persian , just like arabic, stitch together, for example if you want to write "hello", which pronounces "SALAM" in persian, your word is written like this:
"سلام"
and not like this:
"س ل ا م"
if there is any clue for us to follow and fix that issue, it'll be so great to be shared with us
all the best and thanks again,
bonne chance et réussite

languages are taken from 2.2 sdk repository:

There are two files: one for manual install via ADB and one to flash via CWM recovery. I'm recommending second option as much more safe.

YOU STILL NEED 'MORE LOCALE 2' to change language in system.
Korean!!!
But, how do you do that? Are you adding fonts to /system/fonts folder or replace one of the stock fonts? If it is the latter case, I found out that replacing with some fonts soft-bricked NookTouch. If you need fonts, here's the link. It contains two sets of fonts. We don't have italic nor bolditalic.

Anyway thanks for doing this!

You probably just copied fonts without setting proper file permissions. Then You have boot loop because android cannot load fonts. You have to set proper file permissions before reboot.
You need to replace HelveticaNeue as those are fonts used in Nook (DroidSans in every other android device).
I can add Korean language to framework-res (main android file), but You have to workout font problem by yourself. Probably it will be better to use some font which has every UTF chars including Korean.
Hi
can you please add italian language?

I set the permission properly as I've used linux for a while. I switched fonts using noogie.img and linux. But some combinations simply work and some does not. For example, I have korean font A (similar to sans), I switch A with Trebuchet_regular, it work. but if I switch it with Amasis_regular, it does not. I don't know whether there are some compatibility issues regarding fonts.
Also, I can see korean fonts in the library(title, author's name) but not in the reader. Does it mean library uses different fonts? (since HelveticaNeue definately does not support korean).
I'm just trying to find out general rule for switching fonts. Since, you know, people have a lot of different preference, so people want to use different fonts. Again, thanks a lot.
I would just like it if we could figure out how to add a font to the list of available fonts in the drop-down box under the font options in the Text dialog. Then instead of replacing fonts, we could just add any of the fonts people are looking for. It must be possible, just not sure quite how to do it. Has anyone used "Font Changer (Root)" from the marketplace on the NST?

I used Font Changer (Root). It is quite working well in terms of replacing fonts. However, there's still a bug that if you choose to see preview before replacing fonts, it replaces wrong fonts. Still, replacing fonts is quite dangerous since it will put NookTouch in boot-loop.
One of the ways which is quite working well so far is replacing only regular font and deleting bold, italic, bolditalic. I am successfully reading Korean text through the stock reader.
Could you add russian as well, please?

/system/framework
I don't think it is safe to push it on system already running. Probably it will crash system immediatelly without any chance to change file permissions.'
I think You have to do this by CWM recovery. I've uploaded file to be flashed via CWM recovery. On the second hand if You have CWMR it is easy to flash original framework in case of something goes wrong.
UPDATE: uploaded MULTILANGUAGE file to flash via CWM RECOVERY

I did the same and Nook felt to bootloop. Will try ADB tomorrow after factory reset.
P.S. Sorry, it seems it's not your fault. The bootloop continues even after factory reset. Probably something went wrong with CWR...
P.P.S. Alas, the problem persists. Factory reset with 2 buttons doesn't help against the bootloop, but 8 interrupted reboots does. After the restore I tried to apply your framework, and got the same bootloop. I have a 1.0.1 version, is it critical?

It works for me but I have 1.1.0 version. Maybe it matter
I confirm, it works only with 1.1.0, previous versions won't boot up with this framework.
Actually I can't see any difference before and after update. Even power off message and buttons remain in English. Could somebody post any examples of the translation? Or how to check if the update was succsessful or not?
I'm terribly sorry that I didn't mention that this is for firmware 1.1. My mistake!
I've changed first post to be more clear.
Hi everyone,
I wondered if we could somehow install Java Apps in CFWs as native Bada apps instead of the current method (where Java Apps ony show up in Games&More and we CFW developers need to find a fitting icon already inside the CFW).
It is possible: The Wave 578 Market has some Java Games from Gameloft, which are installed and show up as regular Bada Apps. When looking at the folder structure of these apps, we find the (dcf encrypted) JAR and JAD file instead of EXE.
Creating something like this ourselves for, f.e., Google Maps, would be easy, safe for one point: signature.xml, which contains (you guessed it) the signature of the file. If it worked out, we could install, f.e. via SHPAPP or PFS patches.
The upsides of this:
Create your own icon for Java Apps.
Uninstallable Java Aps in main menu.
Easy insertion into CFWs (no need to find fitting icons anymore).
So, does anyone know what to do about signature.xml? B. Kubicas DisableBadaIntegrity won't help, right?
