MY PHONE IS FULLY ROOTED BUT ILL BE A MAN AND ADMIT IVE ALWAYS BEEN TO AFRAID TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS. I SEE ALOT OF PEOPLE ON HERE ALWAYS HAVING ISSUES WHEN THEY DO SO AND IT JUST SEEMS TO COMPLICATED FOR ME TO FIGURE OUT TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEMS. BUT I WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS AWAY I CAN MAKE MY BATTERY LAST LONGER WITHOUT FLASHING A CUSTOM ROM AND ALSO WHAT APP DO I USE TO REMOVE ALL THESE DUMBASS APPS SPRINT PRELOADED ON MY PHONE?

its not that hard, but for now, the app you use for bloatware is titanuim backup, its like your best friend after your nandroid backup, with titanium what you do is install it, it will probably say you dont have root but its ok, after it says that you will see a box at the bottom of screen that says problems?, click it it will ask you to install busybox, hit yes, after that app will be ready to use. so then you go to back up/restore and all you do is click what ever app you want to remove, but instead of uninstall you hit freeze, that way the app gets dissabled but its still there in case you ever need it.
also dont forget before you make any big changes on your phone, always make a nandroid or rom backup from recovery, so you have a fall back in case of emergency
First off, turn caplocks off, We can, and everyone else outside of a 3rd grade education can read lowercase letters just fine, thank you.
and second. if your phone is fully rooted it's really INSANELY easy to install a custom rom. but, there are guides for that so, I won't "bore" you.
For uninstalling bloatware, I love Titanium Backups, even donated for the Pro version that doesn't really unlock a whole lot that I use, I just use it so much I wanted to support the developer.
in Titanium Backups, select the middle tab up top, a list of ALL your apps will show up, you can choose to browse through them or search for a specific program. once you find it, back a backup first. Then uninstall.
word to the wise, be very careful what you uninstall, even if you think you won't ever use something like say.. "Stock" The stock market app.... uninstalling that can bork your phone, at least it did with previous versions of Sense based Roms, I have no idea if it still does it with an updated version. But, just a word to the wise.
Ok first thanks for the quick replys. I downloaded the premium version and it did exzactly what i asked so thank you both very much.
Now to get off Thread topic for a minute. To the turn off caplocks comment...anyone outside of 3rd grade can read lowercase letters. I dont do alot of customizing to my phone so i dont get on here alot but when i do it seems like someone always has something smart to say. Not just my threads but all of em. Wether someone ask a question that has already been asked or someone mispells a word or some post something 5 minutes later then someone else. I seriously think some people just get on here to ***** and nit pick over every little thing. This is just a forum and the evo is just a damn phone.. If someone hits capslock or repeats a thread guess what....the damn worlds not gona end! Put down the phome and turn off your computer and xbox go outside and do something with your girlfriend (if you have one) and chill the hell out!

he wasnt asking how he can delete them with the phone turned on. he wants to get rid of them.
OP, should try "searching" a little harder: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709220
didnt even need the search function, thread is still pretty far up on the first page of development section. just scroll down to removing apps.
I'm new 2 the rooting and the Android itself.. I got the 2.2 on my EVO like most ppl have via update, I'm kinda skeptical of rooting it still.. I guess my question is, is it worth rooting it and what changes on the device itself?
Any information would and will be extremely appreciated..
Thanx in advance...

Good day to you.
First off. welcome. second, as its your FIRST post I hope you wont get flamed too hard because there are many many threads that cover the pros/cons of rooting.
I suggest next time you have a question, take a minute to use the search function (and post in the right forum! questions go in Q&A).
A few quick pros of rooting.
Free wireless tether (sharing your phones internet connection with a laptop or other wifi enabled device)
The ability to flash custom ROMs, these are the operating systems of the phone, they're all built off of (for the most part) stock htc/sprint images, but there are plenty and many options, find one that suits your needs and try it out.
Custom kernels, they are the set of drivers and the "brain" of your phone, want it overclocked? get a custom kernel, want it undervolted (Save battery) get a custom kernel. many options to choose from
Custom Boot screens.
Root only applications, titanium backup (backs up stuff, i dont use it so i cant elaborate), shootme (screenshot program) and others im sure.
Hope this clears up some stuff, welcome, use the search (really im just trying to help ya here) and have fun!
Round of applause for nenn. While I agree with your first few sentences, there aren't many "nice guys" on this site and especially on the Evo boards. People tend to forget that this phone is relatively new and has attracted many new people to the world of Android (like myself) who know nothing about anything.
OP: A few things you can do with root that nenn did not mention:
1) You can read/write from your SD card.
2) You can remove all the garbage that your phone came loaded with from Sprint and HTC (like Sprint Nascar and Peep).
3) With Titanium back-up, it allows you to transfer all user apps to the SD card keeping your phones internal memory clean, you can back up and restore all apps and system data, and you can use it to uninstall apps you don't want as mentioned in point #2.
4) Custom kernels also remove the 30 fps cap on our phones (I get 52 fps average with my set up).
5) You can use other root-only programs like ROM Manager which lets you flash files onto your phone easily via a custom recovery. Also, you can back up several ROM's and switch from one to the other, or go back to a previous working ROM if you flash something on your phone that doesn't sit well with it.
If everything that we have mentioned means nothing to you, then just enjoy your phone as it is. It is a great device and you can get plenty of use out if without rooting it.

Rooting 2.2
I am rooting for the first time and I'm stuck now. I am in the section where you enter the commands into the cmd command box.
I just entered the ./rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
and it says that it not found but when I entered it earlier it worke just fine, can anyone help me plz

qbking77 made some awesome videos that explains most everything, but the simplest answer is to run applications that require root access such as wireless tether, titanium backup, and get full access to your system. Of course the next step is to put on custom rom's to get rid of sprint bloatware. Watch the videos and make your own call. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009997
If you don't know why you should root, you probably shouldn't be. There's no shame in not rooting, but rooting just to root is pretty stupid.

Good luck and remember...don't go down this path if you're not willing to do a lot of reading and you're willing to deal with the possibility of turning your phone into a paperweight. The more you research you do the less likely that this will happen.

Rooting just to root can give you some nice backup options, but on stock I never personally found a need to restore anything. So that's not a huge reason to do it, and besides, MyBackup Pro can handle all your backup needs non-rooted.
Moving on, as mentioned higher up, one of the biggest reasons for rooting is for Wifi Tethering without using Sprint's Hotspot. You're paying for the data, it only seems right that you should be able to use that great power on other devices as well. That said, don't abuse it unnecessarily .
Many people will root simply to take advantage of theming options, changing the lockscreen appearance, pull-down menu, icons, launcher, startup/shutdown animations, and the appearance of system apps. That mentioned... you can remove annoying system apps that otherwise can't be removed.
Finally, but certainly the most exciting, rooting allows you to take advantage of the many custom roms floating around XDA! That is, it allows you to essentially replace the phones operating system with one of the many custom rebuilt versions, enabling new features, removing bloatware, increasing battery life and more than doubling performance speeds!
Personally, I do it for all of these reasons! Check out the links in my signature for my favorite modifications.
Good Reasons To Root:
Applications Like-
1.ADFREE-ZERO ADS In 90% Of apps
2.Wireless Tether/Wired Tether- Free Internet Sharing
3.Titanium Backup- Backup everything on a schedule at a time that u arent using your phone so u never lose apps or text messages, contacts and other important stuff
4. SDX Stock App Removal- Remove Outdated or Bloatware that you dont want.
5. Custom Roms/Kernals- Make it so u can have a more reliable faster phone and undervolt and overclock the kernal meaning- make you phone faster then its suppose to go and make it go slower to save battery, as well as NO Carrior IQ Adgent Service on some roms- meaning sprint cant track your personal info..
6. Custom Themes- Meaning custom pulldowns, custom menus , fonts and all that fun stuff
7. Mods: Including themes, Battery mods,Hulu mod, and way too many to keep track of.
BAD Reasons To Root:
1. If you dont read and know how to get back to a fresh state you could very possibly brick your phone or soft brick it.
2.Void Warranty-However if you know read up on ODIN, u can flash back to stock and they will never know
3. Thats all i got in my opinion for bad
If you want to root just make sure you read all instructions on how to and read about odin/titatanium backup/and nandroid backups as Those are life savers.
Hope this helps, dont forget to hit thanks or checkout dropbox if u find this info helpful
Have a nice day

Everyone seems to always suggest downloading titanium backup and freezing everything instead of just deleting it. Why? We have plenty of evidence of the apps that it is safe to get rid of and the ones that ya better not. So why does it seem that people are worried about deleting them. I am not a NASCAR fan and I don't see myself becoming one so why not just get rid of the app completely? Am I missing something?
Safe from what I have been told and read to delete are :
Blockbuster
Kindle
Amazon mp3
NOVA
Sprint TV
NASCAR
Sprint Football
Sprint Hotspot
Sprint Navigation
Personal preference, if you don't want them, delete away.
I would say from your list that you are right as long as you have a nandroid backup to restore. I have had my Evo start acting weird after I uninstalled some bloat ware so I restored the nandroid and just froze the apps instead. After CM7 final came out I dropped the stock rom, still have a backup, installed the Cyan goodness and have no plans of going back other than install new radio updates. The main benefit to uninstalling them is to free up space. The choice is yours.
Why waste time deleting them? They are installed to /system, so freeing that up doesn't free up the /data partition.

I'm confused , elaborate for me please.
Everyone is not experienced at flashing and tinkering with their devices. Think about it. A lot of people do things to their devices and when they've messed something up, they post here looking for help without stating what they have already done. Telling people to freeze the stuff they don't want is just a safeguard. Those of us who are a bit more experienced will go beyond TB. I hope that made sense.

That was all I was trying to get across was that if you are new to rooting and deleting/changing system files then you are better off just freezing the apps. It is normally safe but most people try to change something before they realize what they are doing, and don't have or know of a way to fix it. If a person wants to uninstall an app by all means go ahead that is one of the main reason for rooting your phone. It also makes it a lot easier to help them fix it if they know what they did.

I've also heard people use the reasoning that if you uninstall system apps you cannot accept an ota, so they freeze them. This way if they want to update, they can just defrost and accept.
I don't understand wanting to accept an OTA, but I also don't understand staying on the stock rom when there are so many great devs making awesome roms.
But people like what they like, I guess you can't knock that.
Hey there are 3 different people from NC in this thread.

I thought about staying with the stock rom at first then I saw what I am missing. I love running CM7 and I have tried others. The main thing for me is that I'm now running Android 2.3.3 which has several features that I wanted and got tired of waiting on Sprint. Don't get me wrong I will stay with Sprint and they have one of the better update records but when Android 2.4 is coming fast and I am stuck on 2.2 with 2.3.3 what seems to be everywhere else. I can't stand that. I only hope that the HTC Evo 3D will get rooted because I plan on getting it as soon as it comes out. I was the first person at the Greensboro Besy Buy that got the Evo 4g and I will do it again.

WTF??????????
I even checked another one in the similar posts thread before finally writing this up. Ok
heres the skinny.
Rom is obv decks reloaded, as far as i know i have the latest update, released on the 25th of may. 44 mag rls.
i did the custom install and went with just about everything optional. (i also have run it in the standard install, the questions i have remain the same, affected me both ways)
I declined to run dtapps2sd because i have so much music on my sd card that backing it all up before wiping and partioning was just not an option.
Using amon-ra recovery
did complete wipes 3x, plus the wiper zip recommended, i love it. It is dam near perfection. Everything runs better, battery lasts longer, no more sprint nascar updates, no more sprint anything, I still have a wee bit of room left on internal storage, i just have, a few little questions/problems
1.I cannot for the life of me, figure out how to download attachments from my email in this rom, i have tried different email apps, ive tried installing the gmail attachment fetcher apps, everything i can think of. still cant get it to let me download anything, wont even pop up the option, just shows a paperclip, mocking me.
2.this might be my main irritation, i dont know what the deal is, or what is going on, but on my first install, and now randomly on my final, i get a weird, brrrgrgrggrggg dj remix dubstep lag sound while im playing music, and sadly, the dsp settings enabling the bassboost, is actually one of my FAVORITE parts about this whole rom, it makes my music sound great, but when it does that nearly in every song playing. it gets annoying, and im trying to figure out why.
I have a 32 gb kingston card, its always worked great, its not even a year old. and its never had a problem before. i still have 8 gigs free on it. I also noticed, when i did my final install, it seemed to actually stop doing it. Until i tried to plug it into my laptop via usb. Then, it was doing it really bad. Took the micro sd out, put it back in, settled down a bit. but i dont know. its a strange, strange thing. Anyone else having this issue? Or know a cause?
3. The usb tether... I saw this quesiton posted before, and the only suggestion was downloading the same version im already running. It will connect, but then, it just keeps asking to connect again, and my status bar starts bouncing text up and down, just go with a usb sync app from the market? any thoughts?
finally,
4. I know its on there, but how do i install the miui cam, i have a file explorer, i cant find it. Is this because im not running apps2sd? If not, where is it located, i looked under apps and data, i did not see anything, and then if i can get pointed to where the heck it is, what is the process, moving it to the folder the actual camera is in, and renaming it to an apk?
I admit. Im still new to all this.
but i do have much love, and, i owe xda, android forums and max @ evohacks alot of thanks and gratitude. Im doing my best, at giving a little where i can
i was going to post a screen shot, but i cant, because im too new , to show i did buy the xda PREMIUM app, what what hahaha...
any help, especially from one of the devs or a certified super genius on this rom, would be greatly, greatly, appreciated. ****, ill say it right now. help me solve these problems, and i will donate to your cause, buy your t-shirt, subscribe to your twitter, blog, whatever(sell my soul, give you my firstborn child....). Truly. and i stick to my word(especially on the soul/child). BIG BIG THANKS to all the devs who made this rom, TRULY. i FN LOVE IT. and if i never figure this crap out, ill keep using it anyways. Until they make a newer one, or i get my GSIII whenever someone decides to tell me when theyre going to actually release the 64gb version. ok. probably way too much talky. bye bye

I'm not sure about your other questions but at least for this one you need a file explorer that allows you to browse outside the sd card (I use root explorer) and then it is in data/app and is labled "MIUI Camera 17.apk" just tap it and it should ask you if you want to install it. At that point it is just an app on your phone.
For the other questions you might be better off posting this in the thread for Decks reloaded. Once it is in there you are more likely to get a response from rope, jaime or one of the other helpful people using this rom who know more than I do
I had the usb problem as well in fact posted about it a few days ago. What worked for me was the second solution of downloading bootmanager lite from the market hope that helps you!

If you're having a problem with the rom, and can find the answer after searching xda and google, the dev's are usually ok with helping you out. If it is a problem unique to you, they'll try and help you and if it's a global problem with teh rom, they will want to know about it anyways.
btw, I replied to your pm about the file explorer.
