I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to turn the softkey backlights off? The back key led died so all keys light up except for that one.

I used to use tasker to turn them off whenever they came on. You can use gscript to turn them on and off at will but it will only stay off until your screen goes off and then it will come back on again. Now my softlights just stay off no matter what
On the aosp roms there is an option to turn them off completely. If you want to join us on the dark side

Man I'm missing aospCMod on my hero. I always used that turn off back light option. I just got my evo two days ago. So there is a aosp Rom for the evo. The back light are killing me.

Hi. I'm sitting here in bed and the wife is complaining the home key lights keep her awake. I'm using shadow rom with the red nightmode render. Just gotta turn these lights off. Ideas?

Are you rooted? If so, the app "LEDs Hack" in the market will do this. It can be configured to turn them off automaticall when plugged in, which is how I have it set.
Perfect. Thank you.

I have used this app forever... I never have home keys illuminate no matter what.
LEDs hack is a sweet app. Kinda glitchy but essential if you use it as a desk clock or read e-books on it.
Also has a plugin option in tasker!

Hi. Im posting this here because I have a defy.! Im looking for a night clock. That shows the time at night. How ever every one I tired which were great leave the button lights on.? Some have the option to turn them off but they have not worked. Does any one have a suggestion or maybe know a good night clock that really does turn the button lights off? Thanks for reading.

CM7 has a good nightclock, the buttons remain off too
Here's a screen shot, the buttons are off, and the screen is very dim so it won't wake you up

Im on stock everything other then root. Cm7 requires red lens I think. I had a red lens but my replacement cell came with green. Im scared of bricking it! ..... ill try gentle clock

CM7 works fine on a green lens too (my case, for example). Go give it a try.
Gentle alarms nice! But lights still stay on! It really doesn't bother me but will it damage my cell phone with those lights on all nite?

Weird, I use the NightDisplay in GentleAlarm and everything is OK.
Actually, hit settings when you are in NightDisplay mode. There are a few options to try!

When i open my keyboard it turns off my screen.
This has been like this for a month or longer. It is nor ROM related or kernel related as I've flashed a ton if roms and kennels in the last month. Hardware is fine as the keyboard lights up and keys work, screen works gone worth keyboard closed... It's like 'software' doesn't know keyboard is open..... Well that's nor true because it lights up....
Any ideas?

Mine turns off, but you have some deep sleep issues affecting your phone not wanting to gain enuff processor speed to get out of deep sleep? Its a possibility

Sounds like a bad video ribbon cable.

Could be your phone has fleas from flashing all those kennels.
Haha flees.... I've tried setting gov to performance then power down, nothing. I setup Tasker to post a notification when keyboard opens and it does post so the system knows the keyboard is open. I also tried using Tasker to set display on time out to 99 min.... Etc.. Still stays off. Heck just opening it shuts off screen. When screen is off opening it flicks on screen.....

Hey guys I've been looking around but cant find anyway to turn back on the hard keys. (Home, menu, back, search) I guess its also referred to as capacitive buttons. I just flashed to mazwoz beta 5 (totally sweet)using mason full kernel. And noticed the lights don't turn on under the buttons. I was using synergy ( which rocks IMO) and I know he lights work. Is there a setting I'm unaware of or a zip I could flash to get them to work? Or maybe ics is designed this way? Idk. But any help is appreciated.
Thanks

You have to play around with the brightness settings to get them to turn back on. Just move it up or down or turn auto brightness on one of those will make then light up

So I turned off auto bright and they turned on. Thanks evo4gnoob

I just want to use the Nav Bar in AOKP, instead of the hardware keys. I figured out how to disable them, I just cant turn off LED. Is there a way to do it, but still let it work for notifications?
Here you are my good fellow. Hope this is what you're looking for

I'm actually already using that, I just want to disable the LEDs back lights of the keys. Its some kind of built in galaxy s tool in aokp jb!

Change the custom Backlight settings in display to have 2 settings one on all 0 and one at 100 and then put it into auto bright and lock phone till deep sleep and turn on and there you go

oh i was completely confused by your thread. But in aokp i believe you have to create a shortcut to it on your home screen. In CM10 its under advanced in the settings menu.
Sorry i cant remember, i dont use aokp.
In AOKP JB, the easiest option is to go to settings, device options, sensors, and uncheck "enable keys backlight."
