Hey guys,
I want to transfer all my txt logs on to my computer so that I can make a copy of some of them. Any idea how to do this?
I am using stock txt app.
Thanks
Try searching the market for an application to do that.

SMS Backup + backs them up to Gmail
I took advantage of the option to port my sprint number to Google Voice. I have no complaints at all. It works flawless for me. I know there were some mixed reviews about it, but I like the fact that all call logs, text messages, voicemails are all stored online automatically. I archive them the same way as I do my gmail. And they are easily searchable. I also use the Chrome plugin that throws my inbox into my browser where I can text from from a dropdown rather than use my phone when I'm at home. But, it's all preference.

Did you use your sprint number or google voice? I'm doing the exact same thing as you but sometimes my google voice texts aren't pushed to my phone

I have been using this app and wanted to turn everyone else on to it. This app keeps your text messages synced in the cloud and enables you to be able to send and receive text message on your computer. If I send a text from my phone, it still shows up on my computer and vice versa. It is really nice to have my phone on the charger, and while I'm using my computer I can read and respond to my text messages without having to ever go get my phone. And best of all......IT'S FREE. Check it out.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not 100% certain) but isn't Google Voice SMS just a sms scheduling app? This app I posted about actually uses your existing cell phone number and lets you text business as usual from the phone but the texts stay in sync in the cloud, and gives you access to them (send, receive, compose, etc) from the computer.

What I like about this one is that you can use the browser but you don't have to. They also have a windows and a mac app too. I prefer to use the windows app so that I don't have to keep the tab open with that site. Also with the windows app even after a reboot I still get my messages on the computer.

Yeah I saw a few browser based ones. What got my attention about this one is that it actually has a windows app that I could install to my computer. That's cool because when I boot up my computer I'm able to handle my text messages without having to do anything. The only complaint I have about it so far is that there are no audible text message alerts during a call (just like the stock sms app).
Today I've noticed it doesn't sync the existing mms messages. But it will sync mms messages that come in after you install the app.
Google voice does this. I use the chrome extension all the time

Google voice sends text messages via the google voice phone number.
A friend of mine was using MyPhoneExplorer. It is only for Windows, so i didn't try it. But he told me that the app has a notification system integrated, and you can also answer a call through the pc.
is there additional battery drain with this since it is syncing your texts to the cloud?
Thats one reason why i switched from GV to my regular number, the reliance on data to send texts got annoying with low signal and also drained battery
I think voice typing is better
Outbound, the server can send any phone number but I don't know how it can receive without the phone being on.
The messages can be sent out via a phone or browser but the phone is the key in receiving since the number is physically ported through the carriers to your cell.
So your phone receives the messages and uploads it to the server for viewing everywhere.
Neat. Would be cool using on my tablet.
LTE EX Galaxy Nexus CM9
Asus Transformer Revolver
Great for those who constantly flash roms, like me lol

Thanks for letting us know, a friend of mine might find this very useful. They always thought it was cool that I could send and receive SMS messages from my Google Voice Chrome extension (or the web page, obviously) and they'd always get frustrated when they'd forget to use one of the sms to sd backup apps before flashing a new ROM, but I could never convince them to use Google Voice because they didn't want to switch to a new phone number.
Are there be any possible privacy issues with storing your SMS logs on this companies servers?
how to send contact via sms, event the stock sms also can not send this kind of thing, maybe Google is missing some thing, isn't it??
will it restore my messages from the cloud to the phone?

newly verizon galaxy nexus owner, in setting up my phone i was looking to for app that would automatically forward any text messages to an email (gmail) address. i had one working on my droid x before, but i noticed its no longer available in the market place.
has anyone found any that do work?
thank you...
I use SMS Backup to backup texts to my gmail account. It works pretty well. Even has a customizable "backup incoming messages X minutes" with one minute as an option. That would serve the purpose you want right?
it would be pretty close to what I need, I need to get to the default in box without a label. that way if I get a text message on my work phone, I can view the message on my personal phone or laptop on a weekend as it would show up as an email.
The program that I used to use was sms2gmail.
So I disabled Texting on my GS3 and opted for google voice which can push texts to my phone. I'm not sure if I can receive or send MMS/picture messages on my phone through data only. anyone know any solutions?

Not trying to sound like a smart ass, but why not just email the picture? quality stays the same and no compression
aside from that maybe via apps like GroupMe, WhatsApp Messenger? (although they also have to have the app as well)
I wouldn't mind downloading an App to send picture messages but I want it to be similar to google voice in how they allow my contacts to virtually do nothing different. is there a way to directly send pictures to numbers that isn't reliant on a 3rd party app by both sender/receiver? If I have to resort to email that's fine but I'd just like to do everything through phone contacts if it is possible.

Yes you can email to phones. For T-Mobile the addy is usually like this
Code:
[email protected]
The easiest way to get other carriers email would be to have them email to your phone, then you will have their addy aswell.
Code:
[email protected]
Hello everyone, I would like to start by saying thank you to everyone here, all of your posts, info, etc has been excellent in helping me along my way to learning enough about this stuff to be dangerous to mine & my friends phones...we're all still using them so that's a "Win" in my book
Now, on to my problem. I've tried googling & searching posts here, and I don't know if it's just the terminology I've searched but I've found nothing similar to my problem except where a thread had to do with EMBS messages coming through incorrectly.
First off, I'm on a Sprint Branded Samsung Epic Touch 4g Galaxy S II (whew that's a mouthful already) It is on Verizon Prepaid Service.
When I first set this phone up, everything worked correctly - Talk, Text, Web, MMS, WiFi Hotspot, Etc - all working perfectly. I was able to send & receive picture mail through MMS, etc.
I am currently running CyanogenMod 9-20120416-SNAPSHOT-epic4gtouch-Alpha 3
Android Ver 4.04
Kernel Ver 3.0.15-SPH-D710.FD10-CL377892
This is the updates I installed to this phone originally:
gapps-ics-20120429-signed
StockCWM-EL26.tar.md5
update-cm-9-20120416-SNAPSHOT-epic4gtouch-alpha3-signed
mmsfix.zip (and made the correct changes for Verizon)
As I said, the phone was 100% functioning at this point for several days. The problem that came up happened out of nowhere, no changes were made to the phone whatsoever, not even a random app was installed from the market.
The only apps I have installed are
Wifi Tether (Rooted Users)
ES File Explorer
Facebook
GMail
Craigslist
Facebook Contact Sync
NFL Scoreboard
QR Droid
SuperUser
Rom Toolbox
Rom Manager
Terminal Emulator
Other than that, it's just what ICS & GApps Installed.
So here's the problem - whenever I recieve a text from anyone now, if it comes in multiple texts (ie 1/2, 2/2/ etc) it shows up as all special characters when I recieve it.
Here is the last one I got, I sent it from another phone on the same carrier - I just typed myself a message until I was sure it would be a 2 part message and this is what came through on my Epic
First Msg
ß<xp¿AcGÉ?üööysgOS&Læ;6lX9W/Ü<9rfEØΨ+FøÆ8xp¿A¥ìÅß<xqF<9$fÅz<EEggÜNixw¿
5¥rdåÆΩÖÅΠ'ålÄ3gF
3vø)rlyscW/Ü>ñzsbEKΨ/ÜÆ_gGEìgVLhurd1äñ2AÅZ#ΛC<z¡@@@@@@@
Second Msg
Ü=ävhPfOÉ?N3vlY1cnÖ<yreIΨ/Ü<9rfEØC¥ìÅÆ8xpaCì
Λ(XΔA$éZTGøΔHEwì/ÖrsOà#Ec=P
I put it in a hex/text converter and the text version came up all "?'s" so I'm pretty much at a loss at this point.
I apologize for a long winded message, but I wanted to include as much information about my phone, etc as possible to get the best answer I could.
Again, thank you all and if anyone has any insight to what might be causing this, I would greatly appreciate the info.
Oh, and in case I didn't make it clear - at this moment, text works fine (if its only 1 text at a time incoming) I can send multiple page texts & the recipient gets them no problem, and I can send/recieve pictures, etc as mms with no problems...the problem only exists if it's multiple pages of text coming in at once.
Thanks
What happens if you use a 3rd party messaging app like handcent?

I just tried a few diff versions of Handcent, with the settings Default, then again with the settings on "Default SMS/MMS App (Disables Stock & Other Messaging Apps) and got the same results...
The wierd character code that comes through is exactly the same, both with the stock app & handcent in case that might be a question...
**Update**
I have Google Voice number sending voicemail converted as text to my phone on a secondary number. I got one today, was 3 pages SMS and it came through perfectly, right after that, I got a reg text from someone elses phone that was 2 pages, and it was the same type characters, and a few more since that were all the same special characters.
I've tested the Google Voice translation a few more times, and it comes through perfectly. I also tested just sending a multi-page text to my google voice number, which just forwarded the texts to my phone via SMS and they also come through perfectly.
So SMS from Google Voice in multiple texts works great, but from another phone do not.
If anyone has seen anything like this, I would love to know I'm not alone.
I'm having this exact same problem too. I noticed multiple texts incoming from certain people are fine, but when I receive multiple texts from a few others or a group sms from an iphone I get this really wonky characters. Any help would be appreciated. I am using this phone through pageplus.
I use the native Samsung Messages text app that came with the Fold 3 (can't use Google Messages even if I wanted to because it doesn't show a bunch of past texts from my previous phone that I need access to). For the past week or two, a few contacts who also use RCS Chat texting have the blue/green dots on the Contacts list in the app, but not on the Conversation list, and it won't send Chat texts, only SMS/MMS, to them. But, their texts often come to me as Chat texts. This app has no way to toggle Chat on/off to reset it, but neither Airplane Mode nor restarting my phone (including after the T-mobile update with the eSIM/dual-SIM additions) fixed the problem.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a way to fix it from my end? Or is it a Google server issue (it began with one of those times everyone's dot flashes off and then back on when you tap on them)? I know the person uses Google Messages because they don't have a Samsung phone (I think they have an LG). It is pretty important for one contact it isn’t working for to see if/when they read their texts. (Thankfully, for the other important one, theirs is working, and that's a Google Pixel phone.)
Anyone have an answer or also have this problem?
