[Q] GPS: ARC vs Acer liquid A1 - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i've tested the gps in my room... this morning 10 sat with liquid and only 1 with arc... now 7-9 with liquid and 0-1 with arc... (wether is more cloudly)
The liquid have rom LCR 2.0... the arc last rom 2.3.3 (original, not rooted)
Can i hope with a future mod rom to improve GPS sensitivity?
p.s. sorry for my horrible eng T_T

Why u need gps in your room anyways? I use gps outside on my arc and never had problems with it.

[Q] which ICS ROM now is better in your opinion?

Hi guys, i don't know how many of you have flashed the ICS Rom on arc. I am using JJ's Hybird which I flashed about half a month ago and it gave me a pretty good experience.
There are too many new versions of ICS ROM now and I have no ideal which one to choose. Anyone has compared these new ICS ROM? Thanks
I've tried 3 or 4 and the best for me personally is Arconium. It's like the official ICS beta but supercharged!
Ice Cream Sony KA 12... Perhaps the best among other ICS roms..
If you don't mind me asking, have any of the ROMs you've mentioned overcomed the issues with video playback and recording as well as battery drain? And if so, have you found any other bugs that could prevent normal phone usage?
Thanks!
I'm using firebird ics v2 Rom and the battery life is as good as was my arconium v8.1
Nit a single bug found yet, and it's really smooth without supercharger
I love it already!

Arconium is the best IMO. Fully stock, neat and great battery life.
My ICS ROM
I'm using KA12 Ice Cream Sony released update 3/4. It still some bug in my phone. Losing Network operator, hang on boot screen, reload launcher. But it's still a best now.
I tested all another one, but no one liked me like CyanogenMod. The design, but the only think i didnt liked is the Contacts app, i got the GO Contacts to it.
I like this Rom, I hope a official version

Acronium is best

Sony Ericsson Arc S (A few doubts)

Ok guys am planning to buy a new phone so please help me out with this....
Am getting the Xperia Arc S at around $290...
1. Is it worth it?
2. Does it really lag (I dont like much laggy phones, is its UI like the S3 smooth as in just normal use?)
3. Will it run all the apps (Apart from those super hd games which i wont play)
4. Does the low internal memory give any issue or it can be solved by transferring the apps to SD
5. Camera good enough?
Which colour is the best? Silver or Black
Am basically buying it for daily ordinary usage such as -
Playing games like angry birds or so. Using the internet along with that listen to the music. Social networking. And yes, clicking images and videos....
So please leave your reviews. Thank you
1. Yes. at this price it is worth it. Arc s is the "Ultrabook" in mobile world. It is damn sleek and sexy
2. It runs butter smooth on Gingerbread..But has lil problem with ICS. But with custom ICS ROM you can have a lagfree smartphone. Obv S3 will be smoother. so pls dont compare arc with Quadcore and 1GB+ RAM smartphones
3. Yes u wont have any problem running any apps as you dont even play high end games(might have lil problem with ICS but again with custom rom your problem will be solved)
4. Nope, you wont have any issues as it can be solved by transferring apps to SD
5. Dude. Camera is awesome. Arc s is well known for sleek design and Camera.Check it out yourself.
I personally like black one but it varies from user to user.
As you are going to use for normal work as u have mentioned above, i think Arc s will fit just fine.
RAM is the ONLY problem in arc s..

You can use a swap file to enhance arc's lack of memory!
Take my advice:
I'm using
1. JJ's hybrid custom ROM +
2. ArcKnight Kernel +
3. Holo Launcher HD (needs some tweaking for great performance) +
4. exDialer
My Silver Arc is now awesome!
i bought the arc S 2 weeks ago and i dont regret it at all,it's a very cool handset ,good screen quality and reactivity, awesome sound quality in communication ,not heavy ,and it's super sexy ,camera is good and makes detailed pictures ,the only cons is the "only" 512 mo of Ram,i feel that in newest hd games, but am on stock ics,i think it should be better with a custom rom . So i think that you can go for it,it worth it price =)
oh and i have the 'midnight blue ' color,it's very nice, but other colors are also nice
Sorry for my bad English
worth buying

Arc s is really good if u install custom roms(lags with stock ICS). The jellybean development is going here for xperia arc s. We can expect stable jelly bean for xperia arc in a few days.:good:
The jellybean is awesome. Buttery smooth. No lags. :highfive:

It is a good value for the money (the price you mentioned). Still, there are a few hardware problems that you might want to consider: first is the fact that the case might break around the sensor. Second is the battery, that is not the best possible. Even with dedicated apps (JuiceDefender) you will have surprises if you are a heavy user. Also, the touch screen I found rather disappointing (on the borders there are areas not so responsive).
As for the development of custom ROMs, I am not very happy either. There is no real JB develpment (only some JB looking ICS ROMs), while there is no complete ROM for ICS (don't argue, it's my personal opinion).
My wife has the Arc S, and battery drain is a nightmare, not even 3 hrs of use and no 6 hrs in stand by. The bootloader is locker with no posibility to unlock it even with doomlord. If you can solve the battery issue customizing the room then go ahead, good phone, otherwise i wouldnt recommend at all.

No problem with battery drains or crack arounf the sensor. The only problem so far is that i have the pink model and the paint worn off in the corner, i don't use casing and the phone is 6month old.
Latest ICS 587 firmware is almost like GB, even with games and make ICS usable. At least, i can play Asphalt 6, which was not the case with 4.0.3/4.0.4 481 but for sure, it's not a hardcore gamer machine
For now, i don't have again the unresponsive touch screen problem with Angry Bird and some other games, but i don't have play heavily, so i don't know if the problem is gone or if i am lucky.
I don't like Sony launcher, only 4 rows of apps and too fews costumization. For now, i try APEX, since i give up on GoLauncher, wich became too fat.
One more word, if you like to see your greasy fingerprint on a screen, it's the perfect one, screen cames dirty quick :fingers-crossed:
Here in my country, the arc s is being sold at about the same price as Xperia P.
So if it the case, just go with the P.
At least for me,Apps2sd even link2sd doesn't fully solve the low memory problem

Will Sony release a JB alpha ROM for Xperia S like it did with the Xperia T?

I know our Xperia S JB updates are due around April, but how likely is it that Sony will eventual release an alpha ROM like they did recently for the Xperia T? This move seems to help mainly the custom ROM communities as the drivers are available for the devs to work with.
I'd say 30% change, at max.

Well, cm10 for xperia s works really well, I have paranoid android running and it's awesome, lacking 1080p video recording and fm radio, both things I never used before anyway, apart from that there's a couple of bugs, hdmi is spotty and I've had 1 random reboot in more than a week, fairly acceptable.
So, if you want jellybean for Xperia S while you wait for the official rom, you may as well go with the freexperia cm10, or paranoid android.

How stable is CM10 on the Acro S?

Anyone here that can give me some advice and support about CM10 Stability on the Acro S? How is the battery life? How is the performance? Is it stable enough?
Just asking before I am flashing this one on my two days old Acro S, so nothing gets ****ed up

Very stable. Been using CM10 as a daily driver since... around Decemember I am guessing. I have been following the weekly FXP updates and flash/wipe every time a major change come along our way.
Highly recommend CM10!
We are missing 1080p recording, Panoramic mode doesn't work on the camera... um that's all I can really think of. I've been using it so long that any minor bugs doesn't bother me anymore. It runs much better than CM9 and way faster than stock. Battery life is probably equivalent to stock ICS... again been away from stock for so long I don't really know anymore.
I ran stock for about two weeks and then broke open the bootloader and installed CM9. It was awesome! I went back to CM9 once after running CM10 for about 10 days while I was on vacation (needed the battery life before it was better optimized) and even then I missed CM10. Flashed CM10 back and never left.
With JB sources released for the Acro S we can only hope that the FXP team fix even more bugs and make CM10 even better. Hopefully soon also take us to CM10.1!
Oh one more thing for battery life. I was in Japan a couple of weeks ago with CM10 installed. With no data connection and using wifi only with auto-brightness enabled. (data uses more battery than wifi) According to batterbatterystats (my best record) I managed to push about 3hours 45min of "screen on" on a full charge. From the morning till the evening. Surfing the web, whatsapp, facebook, email, and some youtube. Hope that gives you an idea of battery life.

That is some good battery life, isn't?
Take in account that the Qualcomm is the regular SoC choice on every Xperia (except Xperia P) and Snapdragon is pretty powerhungry on stock firmware-based devices right? I hope CM10 is an batteryfriendly AOSP choice for the Acro S..
And yes, one more thing.. How is the camera performance on CM based ROMs for Xperia Acro S? Better or worse than stock? Camera is important to me..

[q] best rom, im new here :)

Hello everyone and sorry for my bad English, I bought 23 Monday as a Christmas gift the xperia zl! And wanted to know which ROM is best, preferably not lose quality as the camera spends a lot, and the battery lasts well, of course thank you very much

For me stock is best. I deleted all social media and google crap. Get 4-5 hours screentime per day until battery runs out.
