[Q] My desire is acting wierd.. - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently updated my rom to Gingervillain 2.4 and this morning after the phone had been charging through the night I tried to update some apps from the market when the phone suddently reboots. I gave it a couple of minutes after which I noticed that it was constantly rebooting before getting to the boot screen. It only showed the splash screen and kept on rebooting. I tried pulling the battery after 30 minutes and going to the boot loader (with volume down + power), which worked, but after going to recovery mode the screen just turned black and stayed that way for 10 minutes.
Any clues on what I could do?
Regards,
Me

I would wipe everything in recovery, then either try the flash again or restore nandroid backup and start again with a new download of the rom.

[Q] CWM Recovery very slow all of a sudden

Hi Folks,
Was running ZYGOT3 2.0 and Franco #6 for last week or so, with no major issues.
Had a freeze-up after a phone call this morning, figured that maybe I was undervolting too aggressively, and didn't think much of it. Pulled battery, replaced battery, restarted phone, phone hung at Google logo.
Pulled battery again, rebooted to bootloader, entered CWM recovery no problem. Figured I'd reflash the kernel if my phone wasn't booting past the Google logo due to the undervolt settings. When I went to choose zip from SDCARD - the screen went black other than the CWM version and logo, and my folder list never appeared at the top of the screen.
Pulled battery, tried again, same result.
Pulled battery, this time went to advanced menu - wiped dalvik cache no problem.
went back to main screen to try to wipe cache again...and it hung again. Got distracted, came back to phone like 5 minutes later, and CWM had finally responded and was showing me the option to wipe cache.
So I was able to reflash Franco #6 and boot the phone back up. Then I just downloaded Franco #7 kernel - rebooted to CWM Recovery to install - and noticed that the CWM is again very sluggish. It seems that I need to wait anywhere from 30 seconds to over a minute before it responds to even a simple command, such as to show me the list of files & folders.
Any ideas folks?
Thanks!
Justin

[Q] HTC Desire HD boots but black screen afterwards

So I have a rooted HTC desire HD with Jellytime on it. All was working great till recently when it would shut down by itself. Today after I wanted to test a new boot screen from Rom toolkit I restarted it and while the boot screen worked great after it finished I see a black screen (backlit so I know its on). I tried going to the bootloader but after I try to go to wipe cache for example it restarts by itself and it gets stuck after the boot screen... Any ideas?
ok an update seems that if I go to the recovery via down button and power it lets me do actions. All this time I went to recovery mode when phone was shut down and plugged into a power source. I did a wipe cache and now it says android is upgrading and now it finished saying starting apps. Hope it didnt get stuck there because it keeps doin the cycle animation but doesn't do anything else.. I ll leave it be for a bit like this... :/ Had to restart it by removing the battery after 20 minutes... same problem as before still...
another update... just before it goes to a black screen when the boot screen finishes an orange light appears just briefly (where the green light appears when it charges)
Wipe everything (system data cache) and install a stock-ish ROM. What happens?

Click to collapse
I flashed the rom again and wiped data and all seem to be ok now. I ll update this because I saw many people have similar problems... thanks in advance for any help!
Have the same problem.
I bought this with the problem that it keeps rebooting all the time.
I unlock the bootloader with htcdev, root with Easy Ace Tool, flashed the new cyanogenmod 11,
but did the same .
At least 3-4 rebooting before open normally.
I said that it must be ROM issue and flashed the KK-LegacyCarbon-4.4.
Did the things should be...flash the ROM and then the boo.img separately.
Now i have black screen and the only screen i am able to get is bootloader and the recovery 4EXT.
I reflased cyanogenmod back but nothing happened, any thoughts???

[Q] Stuck in Boot Loop

Hello
Have a GS3 running Rootbox 4.2. Was running stable for probably around 6 months, no issues at all except for the occasional random reboot which seems to plague all S3s.
Felt it vibrate in my pocket, assumed I had a message. But when I looked it was restarting. It gets to the rom loading screen then abruptly restarts.
Now it even doesn't get that far. The samsung screen shows up and the phone restarts in a loop.
Cannot stay booted into recovery. CWM recovery screen shows for about 2-3 secs then phone restarts.
Download mode through odin works, but I'd like to avoid wiping everything if at all possible.
thank you for any help.
an easy try to fix is to pull battery , wait a couple minutes and then either just hold power button till vibrate or do button combo to get to recovery.
"all i can really do , is stay out of my own way and let the will of heaven be done"
Try re-flashing an updated version of CWM via Odin and see if you can remain in recovery mode.
Thanks for the replies
Tried pulling battery for few mins (actually a few days since I did not have time to mess with phone) - No good, phone gets partway through the rom load screen then reboots.
Tried the odin suggestion - home +vol. down+ power opens download mode, but download mode stays open for around 10-15 sec before the phone restarts itself.
I have tried swapping back to the oem battery since i have an extended battery and the problem still remains.
Sounds like a hardware problem to me since you can access download and recovery but it turns itself off. You've tried a couple of batteries so that kind of rules out any software issues.
Did you try booting the phone with a de-brick image from XDA?

HTC M9 Stuck on Bootload After Battery Dropping to 0 Fix/Work Around

Hi all,
My phone is rooted (still S-ON)(TWRP installed) and running viper's ROM. Last night I forgot to charge the phone when I got home, when I looked it was 1% and shut off. I plugged in the phone and foolishly tried to reboot right away instead of waiting a good ten minutes. Well the phone never got out of the HTC logo screen. I would hold down the power and it would vibrate twice, no clue what that mean't. Anyways I waited for at least 10 minutes to give the battery a chance to chare and see if it rebooted but it didn't. Finally I was able to get into recovery doing the following. Hold down the volume up and power button till the phone reboots (screen will be black) Then quickly hold volume down and power until you see the HTC logo on the black background. Then you should have the options to boot into recovery and into twrp. I had to do a data wipe as something in the OS got hosed. I lost all apps and SMS but at least I was able to boot back into the phone. Hope that helps some out there.
I have encountered this same issue on 2 phones but couldn't recover either without reflashing a stock firmware.

Phones lock button wont work and its stuck in a bootloop!

So i had lineage os 16 until it started to randomly restart multiple times. so i got the newest available Stock rom for the marlin, had some weird trouble flashing it until it finally worked. the phone booted and i set everything up. after a couple of log ins with apps and downloading it just turned off and started boot looping. Now usually you could enter the bootloader but.. it only stays in that for .5 to 4 seconds before restarting. i cant power off because the home button isnt working and i cant flash a clean rom.
Any ideas???
(currently letting my phones battery drain and leaving it for a bit. hopefully that could help but unlikely)
