[Q] Desire DEAD?

desire hangs at boot logo..
tried formatting..but still hangs
tried going into recovery, it restarts and again hangs at boot logo..Also in bootloader[ the 4 green lines flash...say wrong image]
somebody please help?
ps: i dint do anything...the phone was perfectly fine till yday night..in the morn maybe becoz battery died it got turned off, since then not working at all..
Have been using this device for months now, no probs earlier..
Its rooted and has goldcard...v 2.2 froyo..
please help ?? is there any way to make it work..

Well, seeing as you're posting during the working day I wouldn't really expect an answer til at least lunch time...I'd say flash a stock RUU and see if that works. If so it's an issue with the rooting

Yes, i am downloading official rom..will post finding on flash.
I did some reading and found that in most cases it doesnt work..but lets see..
and sorry for the timing man..m nt in UK..

What RUU did you try? Vodafone or WWE? Which ROM was your phone on when you first got it?

Try to flash the ruu in fastboot mode, hold back key while powering on then when in fastboot try the ruu again.

I bought it in black market, when desire wasnt officially available here..
I tried WWE..which dint work..
it 100 GSM so goin to try TMO and vodafone next..
will that make my desire sim locked???
If so, can it get it unlocked again?.. otherwise it wont be of any use to me..

Right...
Without knowing the original software version on the Desire it's hard to work out what it came with. Download this file:

Once downloaded, rename it PB99IMG.zip (not PB99IMG.zip.zip), copy it to the root of your SD card and then reboot the phone into HBOOT. Assuming it can read the sd card it'll find the update and ask you to flash it. Do so and see what happens. If it works then you're unbranded, if not you're branded and then it's anyone's guess which RUU to use

It didnt work...so its branded for sure...

Even if it's branded, it ought to have worked with a goldcard..Are you sure the goldcard was in the phone, and not some other sdcard?

yes goldcard is in that sdhc..

Tmo RUU failed...hope vodafone does the trick..

It worked....finally got it working..phew..
now just cant get a2sd+ to work..
I have a2sd+ rom, ext3 partition with rom manager..but a2sd+ aint workin..Quick info show " no info available" below a2sd+..

gave up on a2sd+..
tried installing normal rooted rom..mother f%$ker son of bi$$h phone keeps on restarting...its similar to that overheating and reboot loop prob..
any solutins in this...I am actually thinking of throwing this desire nw and take a simple 2nd hand phone..

[Q] Desire SLCD with HBOOT 0.93 stops at bootloader

Hi guys,
I've got a buddy with an HTC Desire SLCD and HBOOT 0.93 with T-Mobile (DE / Germany) branding as far as I know. He'd rooted his phone with unrevoked3.
Now his phone stops booting while loading the bootloader. He still can enter recovery-mode, adb and bootloader but it will not boot.
We tried to flash back the default RUU but it always says that our Version is outdated. But there is no newer one out there. He also got a GoldCard (well.. I think so. We've created it with the Tool and after that had no effect I did it the old way with the Hex-Editor. I don't know how to check if its a valid GoldCard).

and many other things like flashing another rom or someting.
Hope one of you can help us cause he's really sad about it.

Just go over to everything you desire is here find the original ruu for your device and run it, It should get you back to stock froyo.
Then run the unrevoked tool and your done.

Just try the ruu, you'll get a CID error if the goldcard hasn't been created successfully.

Hi,
a gold card is a customized sd-card. Search for the GoldcardTool. That's a tool to create the goldcard easily. Then just download mikep99's RUU and start it.

I have an unbranded DHD with Android 2.2.1 running on stock rom for India, today i tried to downgrade to 1.32.405.6 using the RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed.exe but it keeps giving me customer id error, I also downloaded the PD98IMG for the above rom and when i try to update it says CID incorrect, after searching I found that I need to create a gold card. My question is why do i need it, is creating a gold card the only solution. I have an unbranded DHD. Can anyone pls help me downgrade so that i can install a custom rom for my unbranded indian DHD

You tried this description, and followed it word for word?
And to my knowledge you should not need to create a goldcard when you have an unbranded device.

I had the exact problem. I created a goldcard, and everthing worked out fine. Not sure why a goldcard is required even when our device is apparently unbranded, but anyways, goldcard does the work.

Thank you so much for replying. I have yet to try out the guide you have mentioned in the link, however, I do need to ask one or two questions:
1. If I create a goldcard, will I be able to ever upgrade to the Official Gingerbread ROM, when it is released for India.
2. Can I switch between ROMs (stock/non-stock) seamlessly, without any complains.
I would really appreciate if you would really help me out here.

I had the same problem with downgrading to 1.3 as of the PD98IMG.zip. tried for 2 days and i kept getting the CID incorrect error. finally it came to me..i wasnt running the command prompt as administrator. it worked like a charm for me. that might be the reason why you're getting the CID incorrect error.

For your first question, no. And it has nothing to do with goldcard. I you are rooted and use some custom rom, you will not receive any official updates. Although you can at anytime go back to stock to get them.
But beleive me, when you start using custom roms, you do not need the official updates. I too am from India, and was waiting for the official 2.3.3, but finally a few days back decided to root and go for custom rom (RCMixHD Kingdom). And i am loving it..
So go ahead, make your goldcard.
And yeah, for your second, yes you can. Although, i dont think you will ever..

How do I bring back my Desire to work?

I´m in trouble with my Desire and need professional help.
It´s a (was a?) 093.0001 with root and s-off
I´ve installed Leedroid V3.07 (Gingerbread) incl. Custom HBoot for data++ and the Radio 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08
I´ve tried to flash it back to original by using the orig. 2.2 Stock Rom from HTC. As far as I know should this be enough to bring it back to original.
Now there is the following problem:
The update breaks with the message, I´ve got to use an other RUU. The phone hangs with a black screen and triangles in it.
I can not start it in BL mode. It hangs with a partition failure.
Is this a fullbrick or is there a way to fix it? Does the radio make this problems? How can i create a higher radio number to overflash it?
What woulda real specialist do now?

Hi Patrick,
This happens usually with branded phones. In this thread you'll have to find the appropriate RUU, the RUU designed for your phone's original carrier. Did you make a goldcard ?

I thought, Goldcard is not longer needed, so I dind´t make one...
But I´m a step closer (or did I make a sep back?)
I had acces via fastboot and tried to flash an other stock ROM via fastbootcommander...

No, I have no idea... bevore I start rooting i did not have seen any signs for a branding.
Mostly the desire shows an own startlogo from the carrier, isn´t it?
My problem is, the update is starting, but it aborts at ~50% with this failure...
All other updates won´t start, just this one RUU goes up to 50 percent...

Have you installed HTC Sync and drivers ?

I have installed the correct drivers, HTC Sync is not installed anymore...
I wonder that I have no access to my bootloader, just this black screen. But if I pull off the cable from my desire, i have the white bootloader screen, just without any entrys...

You need HTC Sync. Start your phone in fastboot (back button + power), connect you phone and run RUU.

I´ve tried it a serval times, as admin, without admin rights, various combinations of rights and versions and have everytime the same problem...
I cann not see the phone starting in fastboot, even if I try to boot, the phone hangs with this black pic...
If I disconnect the cable from the phone I see the white page, but the last Entry is ruu, nothing more... there is nothing I can navigate to.

Hey [email protected] . . 1st check if your pc is recognising your phone.
Connect to pc and check in device manager what is it showing.. should be adb or bootloader interface.. if not try to install adb driver...
than once its done.

basically error 131 is for CID.. so you will require a goldcard for that.. just try your luck .. remove both memory card and simcard.. and run the RUU..

What did I do? I´ve created a new goldcard on a second desire, used this card and started the final RUU again - That was all... Little think, big Impression
I thought all the time, the goldcard was specific for the telephone, but it was specially for the memory card.

i have unrooted Desire purchased from my UK friend
PVT1 S-off
Radio: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
ROM: HTC sense 2.2
Bootloader: 0.93.0001
my phone has no apps of Vodafone even normal HTC quietly brilliant Boot animation
but last time when i updated it showed OTA update of
RUU_Bravo_Vodafone_UK_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27....
when it was on 2.1 eclair there was Vodafone theme ( menu<Scene<HTc Scen
This means my phone Is Branded???
is there is any other way to check that my phone is branded or not??
Does i have to make a gold card??
Which RUU i needed so that when some thing happen wrong during Installing Custom Rom i can revert back to original Rom???

To check if your phone is branded:
Get android system info from market. Start it>system>build infos>brand.
Yes, you can go back to original rom. Just flash latest fitting ruu. You need a goldcard to avoid cid error when flashing ruu.

Put this in your desire. Now start the downloaded stock ruu on your computer and follow the instructions.

If you were before, then yes. If you weren't before, the answer is no. But you can find a sim unlock utility here.

And a small thing. unrevoked3 does the rooting and S-OFF so in the tutorial here :

2 steps are kinda outdated (at least that's what i understand reading the QA from
unrevoked3

Unrevoked does the rooting, alpharev does the s-off. All steps described in this tutorial might be old, but they still work.
