I found the best screen protector! - Xoom Accessories

I have a Zagg screen protector on my Captivate, and I find it OK for a phone.
I installed a Zagg screen protector on my Xoom, and was not happy at all (the "orange peel" effect was ugly). I sent it back to FutureShop and now I am waiting to be refunded.
I bought a Steinheil Ultra Crystal for my Xoom (from their online shop) and installed it in five minutes. I did it "dry", without the "steam bathroom" method, but with a can of air duster and a piece of scotch tape handy (and, as expected, I had a speck lodge itself between the protector and the screen at the last second, but was able to remove it easily with the piece of tape).
The quality is amazing; while making no distortion at all, it reduces glare, and it's truly "crystal clear". You honestly can't tell there is a protector on the screen!
Highly, highly recommended. No more Zagg products for me! I am even thinking about changijng the protector on my Captivate now

Does it also help with reducing fingerprint marks?

I found that finger prints were still a problem with the Steinheil ultra screen protector. So I replaced it with a matte protector which i like much better.

Yeah, I picked up some cheapo matte screen protector off eBay, and it's been great! It reduces both glare and fingerprints by heaps. The clarity is a little bit different, but nothing significant. I even had someone comment that it made my Xoom's screen look like that of an ereader, which is a huge compliment for something that was literally unreadable before.

I have the Zaag and it works really well for me. Also have a Zaag for my evo and its also win. I do carry around a microfiber cloth that universally cleans the zoom, evo, and my monitors. They are pretty cheap at fry's.

link? I'm not one for screen protectors, but that may be worth a look. Post a pic of your screen too if ya dont mind

Just using el cheapo ones from ebay and they seem fine to me. Have never paid more than about a dollar each over the years.

Anti-Fingerprint

One of my biggest issues with my evo right now is the vast amount of oil it collects.
I have to clean it at least 3-4 times a day! ****ing terrible compared to oleophobic-coated alternatives.
What can I do?
Can anybody offer a good screen protector that doubles as an anti-fingerprint apparatus (word-choice fail) lol.
It is VERY important that my finger still slides on it.
Rubbery-feel is not gonna make me a happy camper.
So the 3 things i'm looking for are durable (enough), anti-fingerprint, and smooooth.
Thanks guys
Will take everything into consideration.
Phantom skinz is what you need. Not rubbery and hides greasy finger prints.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'll look into it.
Another thing i nearly forgot to mention.. which should already be implied.
Clarity and optical transparency are another big thing..
Also I have 50% off of any zagg product. How are their screen protectors for this purpose?
Get ghost armor screen protector. Other than the fact that I put it on just a lil off its amazing. Damn near no fingerprints build up on it.
and with one wipe everything is gone. I highly recommend it

+1 for Handhelditems Anti-Glare screen protectors.
3-pack for $9.99 with discount code off the net. Provides good screen protection while maintaining smoothness. Another good thing is that it never collects dirt of grime
Glare isnt a huge issue for me.
Currently i can see enough to get by in sunlight.
So which one is it guys? Is there any protector binded with an oleophobic coat?
Also, again, are the zaggs for the screen recommended?
If it's all the same then I might as well use my 50% off code and get a zagg.
Thanks for the input.
Have you looked into the SGP oleophobic one they sell? Last time I checked, zagg has a rubbery feel which you said you wanted to avoid. Not sure if that's what you need.

I tried their anti-fingerprint one and it makes a huge difference to the appearance of the screen in a bad way.
I just give it a quick swipe with the side of my palm or on my pants and any fingerprints that were there are gone (no different from the Hero which, I believe, had an oleophobic coating)
mine gets a TON of fingerprints, i just clean it daily lol
Since putting on the Zagg full body invisible shield I haven't bother to notice any more finger print oil problems. Some hate it but I love mine, a little sticky but give me a nice little more grip when holding my phone (get us to it after a while).
oleophobic or anti-glare static-adhesion will help a lot with smudges. Anti-glare will make the screen look a little grainy. And I can't comment on the oleophobic since I've never used on myself.
I had a Boxwave Anti-Glare on my Hero, and it was amazing. Highly recommended.

its like a Zagg, but no orange peel; clear as a bell, as it resists fingerprints about 95% of the time..
you can get a front only, or a full kit

Skinomi is like InvisibleShield and require a wet application? I want a normal shield protector that just a stick on. Is Realook a wet application too?

My experience was just the opposite. My InvisibleShield kept peeling but my dry install screen protector was near perfect. I had the iPhone 3GS before the Atrix so I had a Power Support screen protector.
I just placed an order for Realook. I'll report in when I get it!
From the description, it is very similar to the Martin Fields protector which is slightly thick but strong and difficult to scratch.
I purchase this one early before the Realook was being sold:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PDHS9Y
It also has good reviews from other Android phones and it comes in 3 pcs/pkg. I'll compare it to the Martin Fields.
i just bought skinomi ones for like 16$ :x
I think the Realook screens are some of the best out there. The surface feel of it is very good albeit not as slick as those anti-glare ones. They aren't the most anti-finger goo, but they're not any worse than any other screen. When the phone is off, and you look at the screen in just the right light and angle (usually 45deg oblique under a fluorescent bulb) you see a very obvious rainbow effect. Not very desirable, but is not visible at any other time so it's okay.
The protection is adequate (never really tested but it works for me). The fit is excellent. Its the regular stick on kind. No touch sensitivity impedance. I've been waiting for the realook one for the Atrix for a while now. Don't understand why it's so hard to just cut plastic sheets...
Best part is that they're not stupidly priced. $10 for 2. Good value.
My room mate got the otterbox case and it came with a screen protector also. I think its one of the best screens I've seen. It seems to be very very anti-finger goo. Gonna look into it.
So I got my Realook cover today so here is a short review:
The packaging came quite professionally and included the standard stuff you would expect from a premium screen protector: microfiber cloth, alcohol wipe for cleaning, and some applicator to aid in putting it on. Each protector was individually wrapped. So good so far.
Now the bad. Both protectors I received were slightly warped; this means that the protector is not very thick. When applied, the warp goes away and does not affect the adhesiveness. What really annoyed me was that they decided to cut out a hole for the front camera; that in itself is not bad, but they decided to cut a U-shape out to the edge of the phone instead of just a circle. This, to me, is laziness or cost-cutting. This cut leaves a part of my screen unprotected. The second issue is that the part around the speaker hole are slightly bent and bubbled, making the protector not stick perfectly on the screen.
See my attached photo for these two issues.
Overall, I would give this protector a 7/10. The protector also shows a rainbow hue when seen from an angle. This doesn't bother me too much, especially when the screen is on, but I expected more. All in all, for $11 bucks for 2, it's not a bad bang for the buck but I'll probably try a SGP. Does anyone have a reveiw for the SGP? Does it cover the camera hole?
the Skinomi has the same outline for the camera.. I think it's standard for our phone..

Trust me when I say cutting the U instead of the circle is better. With the circle, if they just punch it out, it warps the material between the speaker and the camera, and leaves a bubble. iPhone 4 screen protectors are bad for this. The AT&T official screen protectors do this too, and it works fine.
I will be putting mine and the gf's on tonight..

SGP Review by Supish
Well its a dry apply screen protector so it is a little by harder to apply than wet applications. However, it is very smooth, almost no resistance and comparable to the naked screen (almost). Absolutely no yellowing as well and still no scratches so far. Good angle visability and not more of a lint/oil magnet than the naked screen. The one I got was advertised as ultra oleophobic meaning it resists oils, I guess it works.
SGP Oleophobic Screen Protector Review by cheetah2k
I've just received the SGP Oleophobic screen protector. It took me a whole 2 minutes to install and is totally bubble free. You get 2 protectors in each packet, plus bubble removal card, cleaning cloth and 4 dust removal stickers.
Definitely the most complete screen protector on the market.
And it works!!! Awesome i give it 10/10
Skinomi Review by djkinetic:
i use the skinomi screen protectors and they are great in my experience, at the time i ordered it it was the only one available, it is a wet apply, put it on align it, and let it dry and its nearly invisible no bubbles, the material is polyurethane, and supposedly has a uv coating to prevent yellowing, it feels smooth when using the touch screen even tho the texture seems rubbery, its weird cuz u can definately tell its a different texture but ur finger still glides over the touch screen like nothin is there. Only downside is that if u knick the protector it doesnt self repair, for example if u press hard on the film with a fingernail it will leave an imprint that doesnt go away. However they do offer lifetime replacements, overall id recommend it.
Ghost Armor Review by cegna09
Used them on my Aria, and now my Atrix. They are awesome if only for the warranty alone. Great coverage of the phone, great protection, awesome at hiding finger grease on the screen. And if you ever need it replaced they send a new one no questions asked, just mail the old one back to them. Had it on my Aria for 6 months without problems, then switched phones.
EMPIRE Screen Protector Review by vin791
bought the empire screen protector from amazon for $4 (free 2 day shipping w/ amazon student) and it rocks. there's a ~.5mm border on the sides and ~1mm border on the top, doesn't both me though and its super clear. i got it perfectly aligned on the 2nd lay down with no bubbles or dust (make sure you wipe it down really good with the cloth they send). its easier when you start from the top of the phone instead of the bottom. i oull the whole sticky side protector off, align the top and kind of guide it straight towards the bottom. the card they send removes any bubbles that are there at first. no worries. as long as you cleaned the surface well and theres no dust, you shouldn't have bubbles when you're done. great and inexpensive product (compared to competitors)
InvisibleSHIELD Maximum Coverage Review by kmiller8:
Immediately after I applied the skin, I could tell instantly I would love it, mainly because of the texture/feel of the plastic "skin" applied to the phone. It added a nice rubbery feel to it while at the same time not making it any harder (maybe even a little easier) to use the OSK and Swype. You can see in the album on pics 2 and 5 where I had a bit of trouble applying, but those could have been easily avoided, had I taken just a few more minutes to make the skin more even throughout the phone. However the edges of the cover are a HUGE lint magnet especially in pockets but I think (hope) that this is just because it was recently applied. Also, it still fits perfectly in the Standard and Car Dock In the pictures it appears as if there are little bubbles throughout the skin, this is not visible under normal lighting, but the flash of the camera seems to have over exaggerated it.
EDIT: After a few weeks with the protector, I ended up removing the part covering the glass, The atrix just looks SOOO much better without a skin protector on the front, but I did keep the ones on the side and back because it adds a much needed grip to the back of the phone.
Fin
I hope this helps someone decide whether or not to get one of these skins, and personally I like the fact that it appears as if it is just the bare phone, but there is a nice layer of protection throughout the phone, however others will equally enjoy a nice OtterBox Defender or Incipio Feather case (two previous options).
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, or if you have any suggestions to be added to the first post (kit recommendations, personal reviews) reply below!

do you know of any ways to reduce the lint problem? i was thinking of trying to do something along the edges to remove some of the adhesive
Man, i like invisibleshield but i HATE the yellowing that is guaranteed to happen, and even the peeling of the corners that happens VERY often. makes me rage
Yellowing, corner adhesion, edge lint, and texture = no way Invisibleshield is going on my phone. I used it on my Fuze and it was awful.
Is there any other kind of "full body" clear protector that is better?

Whats the texture of the phantomskin? like is it smooth like the regular phone or more "rubbery" like the Zagg shields.
Also, they're the same price $25 before shipping, but i do like how phantomskinz has a matte version avialable

Can you elaboate? Like yellowing? Lint magnent? Angle viewability? Scratch resistant etc etc.
So from this thread and other similar to it:
I should go with either Best skin ever or Phantom Skinz. Question for those that are using the Phantom Skin, did you get the clear or matt finish? What's the difference?

screen protector for galaxy tab

I just purchased one on amazon from ArmorSuit. Gotta be one of the best screen protectors out there. Way Way better then skinomi and the majority that is out there. 5/5 stars. Just my honest opinion. Want to help out those who are looking for something of quality. Go ahead and give it a try, you wont regret it.

I think I'll try this Armorsuit...I just received the SGP screen protector....suck and overpriced..lucky I got it from Amazon...easy return service....
I got the Steinheil Ultra Crystal (SQ) and the fit (some air around the camera) and quality is really good (been using Steinheil screen protectors for years on my phones). I got my from Amazon.com and its kinda expensive but its like $21/year =).
This isn't the place I got my, but you can see all the different types.

couldn't find one here, hence bought a notebook screen protector and pruned it for perfect fit on my galaxy tab plus used the remnant for my phone.
I'm worried if I put an Invisibleshield screen protector on my GT 10.1 it will leave a permenant haze or film on the the screen when I decide to take it off. Can anyone offer any information? Thank you

Most of us actually prefer our screen (gorilla glass or not) scratch-free. Having a protector gives you ease of mind when rubbing a smudge or fingerprint off too.

I just installed that exact same one from the same seller. Fits perfectly, especially around the camera and ambient light sensor. It adds a little bit of a grainy texture to the display, but all anti-glare films I've used do that. Not sure if it's really got an anti-grease / oleophobic coating as mine has some decent fingerprints, but the matte surface hides it well.
Tip to line it up the first time: before you take off the backing, line it up how you want it. Scotch tape it 3x on one of the edges, preferrably the one with the pull-tab for the backing. Make a tape handle for the opposite end of the screen. When you're ready to install it, hold the tape handle and pull the backing off with the tab, then pull the handle tight as you lay down the protector.
Trust me, I went through at least 7 different screen protectors (I got the Asus, Acer, and Samsung) and this is by far the best one out there. Good luck.

How does it stack up against InvisibleShield and the other 3M Scratchguard types? I usually don't like the texture on those.
Don't know about the ones I've been hearing about in this thread, but I've got InvisibleShield on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I'm probably never taking it off. It works wonders and I have the same protector for my HTC Evo. Never need another screen protector once you go InvisibleShield.
I myself have been searching for a screen protector for my tab. I have the invisishield on my evo4g, and I find that it adds quite a bit of sticky friction to swiping, or any time you drag your finger across the screen. It's not so important on the phone as it would be on the tab, so here's my question:
What sp will offer some protection, but doesn't add much friction to the touch experience.
Appreciate the input!

The one I mentioned above is smooth. The matte finish makes it feel more like high gloss paper than glass. I'm considering buying a clear protector from the same company though as the "sparkly" effect that the matte finish adds to the screen (esp. things that are solid green for some reason) is getting on my nerves.
I have the zagg invisibleSHIELD maximum protection, is was a little skeptical at first but really like it now the i have had it on for a coupke weeks. There is more grip to the tablet now, but i can still slide my fingers over the screen with no issues. I will say this though, if you have never installed something like this take your time whrn installing it.

I'd like to have a specific anti-glare screen protector, the glossy screen is not bad but still very reflective, a part from the usual fingerprints issue.
Any product that suits my needs?

thanks man, appreciated.

Recommend a screen protector!

I need a screen protector for my Galaxy SII i9100 because I do not want to damage the screen. It should be a pack of 2-3 because I almost always mess up the first time.
It doesn't matter if it is glossy or matte, both are fine, but I am in the sun a lot so I should be able to still see the screen. Preferably something which gets rid of finger oils easily.
I live in USA, so Amazon or Ebay would be excellent.
I am using the Steinheil Ultra Series Screen Protector Films for my AT&T phone, the Ultra Crystal. It comes in a pack of 2. It was very easy to install, no bubble.
It keeps my screen scratch free and I still have the super nice clarity of the original Samsung AMOLED Plus screen.
They even have video to show you on how to do it on youtube or their website (sgpstore.com). There is no fingerprints issues with this Crystal version, you can just use their supplied Micro-fiber fabric and they go away.
You can buy them on Amazon for $13.99. The Ultra Optics which costs $2 more would be my other preference but it did not exist for my AT&T model.
Or you can try the Ultra Oleophobic which is oil resistant and is $13.99.
I use basic screen protector from ebay and work fine...
Phantomskinz - doesnt have the tacky/sticky feel (whilst offering same protection) of e.g zagg invisibleshield.
Google for discount code.

This is the best all around screen protector for the SGSII no doubt.

I would go with a 3M Estoc+ if budget allows.
Try the SGP Glas, although not fingerprint resistant, its a great screen protector which is made of real glass and is shatter-proof in case you drop it or hit it against something. The video on the website, the guy had to use a hammer and hit it twice to destroy it, but its not like you're gonna hit your phone with a hammer any day ^_^

ah, one more thing, when using this screen protector, you have to install the Ninphetamine kernel, due to the charging bug, where the screen is undervolted, the touches on the screen are not detected unless you install the kernel, which tweaks the voltage going through the screen, and the physical touches are being recognized. Other than this, it's a great screen protector + no worries of bubbling!

It's not so much the glass being broken, more the glass being scratched. Which, despite being Gorilla Glass, is still quite easy to do (I have a tiny scratch on mine despite looking after it and never having it in my pocket with anything else for example).

This is exactly the reason as to why I wussed out on gorilla glass and installed a screen protector
I just got the SGP Ultra-Fine and I'm very satisfied with it.
Very easy to install, no fingerprint, no glare.
Get the cheapest top rated ones you can find on amazon. I was tempted to buy an expensive one, glad I didn't. I got 6 cheap ones for £3. First one went on perfectly, it's not even scratched up, but when it does, there are 5 more to easily replace it with. Not necessary to spend tons on these, you end up paying for the brand.
I'm happy with my SGP Ultra Optics protector. Since you're in the States shipping will be negligible as well. It's a dry install, I've even removed it, and put it back on to get the alignment perfect without issue.
I've tried two "wet install" protectors: Zagg (Invisible Shield) and Ishieldz, both were not even remotely worth the cost and it results in phone downtime to ensure that everything is dried out after the install. Of the two Ishieldz was the better.
Im surprised nobody mentioned InvisibleShield or iShieldz. I personally believe they provide superior protection (especially the InvisibleShield, check out the videos section of their website).
Both come with LIFETIME warranty.
EDIT: Oops, didnt read the post above me. But I've NEVER had any issue with applying InvisibleShield or iShieldz. I had an invisible shield on my X10 and was able to take keys the the screen without any damage at all and installation was a breeze. I currently have an iShieldz on my SGSII.
I prefer wet installs to dry as it is much easier to make sure everything is lined up straight before finalizing the process.

Invisibleshield has a tacky sticky feel to it, which is why i use PhantomSkinz which doesnt.

i would just buy a pack of 5 from ebay...cost a few dollars
I use SGP ultra optic. it's the best!
I have been using SGP GLAS for a week and love it. Since it's real glass, it feels like there is nothing there. In fact, it has a smoother feel than the touchscreen glass.
Installation instructions must be followed explicitly, but once installed, it's great.
It's pricy at 32USD$, but worth the investment in my view.
is there actually a difference between those cheap no-name ones you can buy for $1, and branded ishield/skinomi/whatever?

Just to add to this; when I ordered my SGP case it came with an Ultra Crystal protector, I also ordered the Ultra Optics protectors. Was time for a screen protector change so I installed the Ultra Crystal since it was all I had left. Not pleased at all, magnified finger prints, but more importantly touch sensitivity was awful. Of the two Ultra Optics is much, much better, it just doesn't look as crystal clear and shiny as the Ultra Crystal one.
Put on a Belkin protector today, sensitivity is back. It has a similar optical quality and finish to the Ultra Crystal, hopefully it doesn't show finger prints as easily. It's not as custom cut as the SGP protectors however; the hole for the home button is open at the bottom rather than surrounding the button.
EDIT:
Belkin = fingerprint hell. Touch sensitivity was markedly better, but finger print residue was WORSE than the Ultra Crystal; so bad that it was hard to view the screen. I just tore the bloody thing off.
Sgp oleophpbic. I use the ultra crystal and after. 3 months I have to search for marks and even then barely find them. However oil from my fingers is the biggest hassle. I would trade a few scratches for less oil. Sgp ultra capsule is the one to get case wise. Full protection, screenguard included, slim, and no, just no, cheap Amazon screen guards are not the same. At all. Not a bit. Used them and they are a waste of money.
