[Q] Evo shift 4g + G2 - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just played with a teacher's Shift 4G and realize they are basically the same. Even processor and all. So is it possible to port that rom from the Shift 4G over to the G2 without any complications? I feel that is smooth (buttery) smooth. Even at 806. The fusion 2.2 sense rom (cannot remember name) feels slow in my opinion.
Would this port be possible?

If they are near the exact same then I do not understand why we'd port it... but just my opinion. In my experience, most things get ported so something that couldn't normally be attained can be.

Isn't the shift running straight sense, just like the desire z? We have a sense rom already.

That rom is glitchy and wack.

[Q] Best updated Rom available for HTC Evo 4G

Hi Guys, I hope this topic is not repeated before.
I have HTC EVO 4G and since it got sluggish I want to root it I am a beginner so I dont have much experienced about rooting.
I looked here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Supersonic/ROMs
there are many different roms available for Evo and also I checked here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951057
I found out the most populars are :
1- MIUI and 2-MikFroyo
Since I like SENSE I chose MikFroyo.
What do you guys thing about Gingerbread ? what are the differences ?
Is MikFroyo Sense 1, or 2 or 3 ?
I've heard Sense 2 and 3 have many bugs...
I wanna stick with Sense 1 and also having 4G is very important for me.
please Advise
thanks
Those roms are very popular... when you root, just create a backup and try each rom. That way you can make your own decision of what you like. If you don't like the rom just flash another or restore your backup.
Myn. RLS 5 its older but still great and my fav. Is has cured my flashing addiction for 8 months I had rls3-5

I am a huge fan of Myn's ROM's. Still running RS 5. Have tried tons of others, but always go back to Myn's.
Sent from my EVO 4G "Myn's RS 5"
You won't go wrong with myn Rom. But if you care about speed and performance along with lots of themes and options, mikfroyo is a great starting point. I am a long time user of both mik and myn roms and I like them both.

I'd like to put in a good word for Koni's Elite. Series 3 is stable and smooth like butter, and Series 4is on its way. Great theming throughout, and still active development. Full of win!

I like Sense too, I think most roms (including Myns and MikFroyo) are unnecessarily cheesy in their design. Keep in mind if you want to run gingerbread roms, the kernel won't work properly with Novatec screens (stays full brightness). I'm currently on the DesireHD port but it has no 4g :\
Plutonium roms are very good. The most recent update was today, err yesterday. Everything works and it looks fantastic
ok, here goes.
first of all, yes this has been asked a thousand times per day, but people have fun answering them
sense roms are based off stock evo sprint software. if you like sense roms, you best choices will be:
myn's warm twopointtwo, for a smooth, themed, and slick stockish experiance, try this oldie but goodie.
mikfroyo, updated more often. optimized way over the top. i personally don't like the theme, and think if you want that speed go for aosp, but whatever. a bunch of people like it.
koni's elite. one of the newer good sense roms. good themeing. fast. optimized. everything else the other two have, just different...
aosp roms are based off stock google source code. they are not built for the evo (or until like 2 weeks ago, not built for sprint, cdma, or wimax) but have been ported exelently. these are much faster than sense, and about half the size. they have a different look, feel, and functionality though. they are based on gingerbread, not froyo like stock evo.
cm7 (cyanogenmod 7): simply the best. most other aosp roms based off of this. a gigantic project that spans across ~30 phones with ~24 official developers and many more unnoficially contributing to the open sourced code. fast, stable, WORKING 4G AND HDMI!!! (took monts to do those 2). everything works (except 720p video recording, but 480 is just as good). really, try this one first. nightlys are released every night, stables are not. you can see the very complicated changelog along with links here: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=supersonic
miui: based (sorta i think) off cm7. very iphone-like rom. built to have the best of iphone and android, with some added goodies. i persoanlly don't like it, but many swear by it. sorta a you like it or you don't thing. 4g doesn't work.
deck's: another cm7 based rom. basically slimmed down cm7. idk why you'd need to slim something already half the size of sense down further, but some people claim unreal battery life. 4g and hdmi also work cuz it's based on cm7
savagedzen rom: NOT built from cm7 (yes, this is a bragging right), very stock gingerbread, with lots of kernel tweaks. not based on cm7, yet 4g and hdmi work.
salvagemod: even more stock gingerbread. 4g works. not hdmi.
ports: the name explains it all. 4g doens't work for these, except the rare exceptions. virus is the one who's ripping out port after port after port recently.
a sense hd port: mik and myn both have one of these. froyo with sense 2.1. no 4g.
virus gingersense: sense 2.1, gingerbread. no 4g, but the rest is working.
virus kingdom port: based on an unreleased, unrevealed device called the htc kingdom. 4G WORKS. still in deep beta. sense 3.0, and gingerbread. sense 3.0 is pretty crazy.
so yeah. i personally use cm7 with tiamat 4.0.2 kernel and a modnation theme (whichever we r testing). try as many as u like. if you like it, make a backup.
edit: wow. this is long. lol

+1. very informative. thank you.
I promise u that u will love miui and the great thing about miui well I should say one of the many great things about miui is that there are weekly updates . Every single Friday sometimes Saturday an update is released usually to fix any bugs.
I have been an miui user for months now and I can honestly say it cured my flashaholicism <--new word just added to the dictionary
Any way like every one said nandroid back up and give it a spin
There are so many great roms to choose from
*MiUi* Evo has Evolved
ROM is really user dependent. As long as you get a stable build try a bunch out. I tried mikfroyo, CM6, and a few random others before landing on Myn Warm Z twopointtwo. Just experiment and see what you like. If you like sense, try a sense based ROM. Most are optimized and are lightyears faster than the stock evo ROM.
Just look at what you want from a ROM, if 4g and HDMI aren't a huge concern theres a pretty extensive list of ROM's you can flash and enjoy!

Best Sense 3.0 ROMs?

I'm still waiting for my EVO 4G (2.3.3) to be rooted. In the mean time, I'm looking for some Sense 3.0 ROMs. What are some of the best? Thanks a ton!
Sent from my EVO 4G
Virus' Kingdom port...and get in line with the wait.
Have you checked out Synergy? It is Sense 2.1 with a lot of 3.0 touches which helps it to run faster than a full 3.0 ROM. It runs smooth and error free. It brings new life to the Evo 4G.

Likewise MikG 2.2. It is also Sense 2.1 with a sprinkle of 3.0 components.
Some have said the full 3.0 are just a bit too much for the 4G.
But try them.
My sister is in waiting line too.
I'm tempted to pick up another phone (As back up or for my wife since I can get the full discount). 3D or 4G. But with neither rooted I'm just waiting for now. Also 3D seems to have some serious issues that would drive me insane. Lower Quality Speaker and Signal Quality. I've seen that go up and down over the years and 4G is pretty good at both. I have no personal experience but it's totally believable.
Sorry to ramble
Thanks guys..I'll definitely check them out. Also, I've taken a look at the PhillyFinest ROM. Should I consider that one too, or should I stick with the ones you mentioned?

I don't think that it's been updated in quite a while.
I prefer Sense 2.1 ROMs with 3.0 elements, it seems more stable because of the drivers, and lighter. You can even flash the 3.0 carousel on MikG and Synergy if you so please.
I use MikG, just because it is odex and seems smoother and more like a "final product" compared to Synergy, but I think that Synergy will be a great ROM when it is a stable release. I think it'll basically be on the same level as Myn's Warm 2.2
Try both MikG and Synergy when 2.3.3 is rooted. Nandroid Nandroid Nandroid.

[Q] stock htc evo 3d rom for htc evo 4g

do anyone know if there is a full stock rom htc evo 3d for the htc evo 4g everything including startup screen and shutdown screen
thanks
+1 on this
There are many out there. Try searching either kingdom or shooter as these are code names of the phones running sense 3.0.
EvoKings has a shooter port that I would strongly suggest.

do yu think i can put the stock evo 3d rom on the evo 4g
do yu think i can put the stock evo 3d rom on the evo 4g
Nice idea but no body seems to know
A rom from another phone needs to be "ported." There are certain files and such that only work on the phone the rom was made for.
EvoKings took the source released from HTC for the "Shooter," or 3d and ported it to work on the Evo4g.
These guys are good at what they do and I think they have themed and stock versions. If you have any special requests pm them and Ian sure they can help.
The "biggest" issue with the 3d rom is the shear size of it. It basically maxes out your internal memory forcing all of your apps to be on SD and it makes it laggy and glitchy because it is too big for our phone, seeing that the 3d has 8gb internal storage.

who came from the evo

so i was wondering how many of you guys came from the evo 4g, and what you guys like over the evo other than the amoled screen of coarse that is a no brainer, how the battery life been treating you so far i record it to be about the same 6 to 7 hours wish i could get more i might be upgrading to a bigger battery soon.
i'm actually wondering about switching in the other direction.
i know at least on paper, epic is a better device.
but it seems like evo owners are having more fun with their devs.
no knock on our devs... (thank you to all)
i know that they are working hard.
i was thinking about picking up an evo on ebay/craigslist... and playing around with it. any one on the fence?
Nope. Lack of a download mode kills it for me. I've already bricked my phone once with a bad flash. Thanks to a download mode, I was able to recover with ease using Odin. I don't think I would ever use a phone without one now, provided there was an option to get one with one.
That and the news on HTC phone logs that are easily viewable by others is a little shady. Shame on HTC!
I agree with the development very high seriously about 40 flashable roms downsise I hate sense love the g.b based rom cynogen etc... how ever I have noticed the super quick os versious evo just feels smoother even at 1 ghz plus evo highest o.c is 1.2 and I have seen 1.6 so I am happy with the change just need to figure out how to get better batt life cause it sux but again so does the evo

Came from EVO 4G. Missing nandroid and the plethora of ROMs that were available for that device. The only reason I chose the Epic Touch over the 3D was for the extra memory. The screen is nice on this device but the resolution lacks behind the competition and I don't really care for the oversaturated look. Looks like both phones are "obsolete" anyway as we never got 4G in Detroit and it looks like we never will. I was really tempted to get the Motorola since I do travel occasionally and it would have been nice to have GSM capability. The lack of a gyro on that bothered me though since I like playing with google sky. It was pretty erratic running on the EVO 4G without the gyro.
Anyway I'm looking forward to the experience.

[Q] As of 2013, what is the fastest and snappiest ROM for the HTC Desire?

I know, typical question, but I haven't been keeping up with roms much for the past year or so. I have an old rooted HTC Desire and I thought I might as well give it some life. My primary concern is speed as the title suggests, I'm looking for the rom that gives the smoothest and snappiest experience possible, that is, the least amount of lag and highest frame rate that one can possibly squeeze out of the device, don't care what version of android it is and what features does it have, as long as it's crazy fast and stable enough to be a daily driver. What I should I be looking into? Cyanogen? Oxygen? some jelly bean rom?
Flashing a rom, partitioning the sd card, customizing it and install all the esential apps takes time, so I would rather do this once instead of trying a few roms and see what sticks, hence the question. Thanks in advance
I would say CM10 is the fastest out there for your Desire. I may not have an actual Desire but the phone I have, the HTC One V is almost identical specs wise to your desire and CM10 blows any ROM I've seen out of the water. Their Trebuchet launcher works hand in hand with project butter and even with my phone's ageing Adreno 205, it is much smoother than my friend's Galaxy S3 running Jellybean Touch wiz.

Well, HTC one v isn't the desire. Cm10 kind of sucks on the desire in terms of speed.
Any GB based ROM should be running smooth and snappy. My personal favorite is Cool Droid V3.
I am using Nikez JB 4.2.2. in my signature. Does the job fine for me!

Hi,
I used Mildwild 5.0 during more than 1 year, and all was smooth, fast, and stable.
Only problem i had was sometimes loosing data when battery low. (ok after reboot but a bit annoying).
Now testing 4.0.4 from Marius.a, quite satisfying even if it's only in English or Chinese (quite smooth), main functions work (a few bugs sometimes but nothing really bad).
The thing is it's the only 4.x with camera recording working fine, and i need this so...
Regards
