hi there,
we all know the game paper toss.
when you start the program you hear some noise on the background, and a door open and close.
when i slide the slider down to unlock the screen, my htc desire hd makes this sound.
(it IS the actual sound of paper toss, because i compared them).
i've removed the sd card - no difference
i've removed paper toss - no difference
i've reinstalled paper toss - no difference
i've chosen a different skin - no difference
i've checked the sound options - no difference
i've turned the unlock/lock sound on and off - no difference
the only thing i haven't done is a factory reset.
and i really don't wanna do this, because i'll lose so many settings and options.
does anybody know what this is?
why is my phone making that stupid sound from paper toss?
Did you install gingerbread with sense 2.1? The sound you may be hearing is the weather app sound. If unsure go to the weather app and try the demo and see if you get the same sound.
i hope i get the same sound.. lol..

I just flashed CM 7.1 to try and get an ICS-like theme going.
The ROM is great except for the camera shutter sound which is killing me!
Where can I find an alternative sound and which file should I replace?
Thanks!
Why not just turn the sound off or put it in vibrate mode when you're using the phone to take pictures? I know there's a setting in CM7 somewhere where you can disable the shutter sound itself, but it still makes the beep-beep sound when it auto focuses.
Download the app quicksetting from market and use it to turn system volume off, no more annoying beeps

No idea how to change it, but you can silent it in cm7.
Settings - cm7 settings - sound - mute camera

the camera will b silent but you will still get a beep with autofocus, also you can find the cameraclick.ogg in /system/media/audio/ui, if you want the whole thing silenced then use the app i suggested above.

If you want to change the sound and not shut it down go to system/media/audio/ui
and take the cameraclickogg from there now download the sound you want then convert it to .ogg and rename to cameraclick
Hope i helped!
Thank you all for your suggestions. I know how to mute the shutter sound and have done so but that is not an optimal solution for me. The thing is I prefer to have shutter sound on but the stock one in CM is making my ears bleed [not really].
When I was on Sense I used the Amaze 4G camera app which has a very pleasant shutter sound. If anyone could extract that somehow I would be very thankful

So I know a few people have asked about this around the net and I've yet to find a solution for this so I thought I'd post my little workaround.
Anyone that's tried to create a long timelapse with the GNex will tell you 1) you NEED to be plugged into AC the whole time and 2) Phone gets extremely hot. Since brightness is automatically increased when recording video, and can't be decreased I use the following combo/setup as a workaround.
Download Screen Filter from Market (**** a play store) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor&hl=en
This app essentially lets you tint your mobile screen from a percentage range of 2-98% of your current brighthness.
Once the app installed go into drawer and add the apps widget to one of your home screens, and set your desired tint percentage. I'm currently at 2% and that makes my screen look like its completely off (except for softkeys)
The final product ends up looking like this..
lol and for all you pervos out there dont be using this workaround to secretly record down/up women's clothes and such...
there is a spycam app called simple notepad that will give you a complete black screen while recording and lets you take pictures by tapping the screen. it works great with amoled scene since the phone looks like it's off when there is a black background. it'd didn't work so good on my atrix but great on the captivate. It's not in the market so you will have to google it.
thanks for the tip I'll check it out

but how can you do anything after recording has started? my phone stops recording even if i press the home button.
or do you darken it before you start recording, and then navigate blindly? how do you undarken it afterwards?
hmm... the screen filter idea seems kind of good, even though you have to navigate blind through the menu... I wish there was a native way of achieving this, just like a button in the camera to turn the screen off and back on again on a tap somewhere or so... But I think it works for my problem, thank you for your idea.
Hi guys,
I thought some of you might enjoy the Apollo theme I've created on my Omnia 7 with the help of the Screen Capture, Supreme Shourtcut and Advanced Config homebrew apps.
The only editing I've done here is replacing the people tile to protect my privacy All the pictures have been taken from my phone.
You'll notice I've sacrificed having a live Call tile. Since you get an readout of missed calls on the lock screen I didn't consider it that great a loss.
Let me know what you lot think...
EDIT: Just noticed that the screen capture for some reason hasn't captured the dark purple I have set as the home screen menu background Well anyway, that's there!
First look - messy
But then I think actually using it on a phone wouldn't be that messy.
My reaction towards this is neutral.
Takes away all of the aesthetic appeal of wp7.
I think it looks great!
Microsoft reallllllllly needs to allow more customization with colours in Apollo. In the worst way.
They need to change how notifications are displayed. The notification bar sucks right now. And i hate the fact that it disappears and there's no way to make it permanent.
Out of all of the android phones I've had, some have faded the music currently playing when a notification happens (like how the iPhone handles it) and some, like the GS4, cut the audio off and resumes it once the notification sound finishes. I much prefer the audio fading while the notification plays, is there any way to make this happen, or is it ROM-dependent? I can't imagine something like that is baked into TouchWiz, and moreso dictated by the Android framework itself.

Anyone knows why the equalizer for the frequency, bass treble are missing? It was so useful in Note 9
Im trying to translate from my swedish note 10+: Settings -> Sound and vibration -> Advanced sound settings -> Sound quality and effects -> Equalizer
Yes it is still there but only with preset equalizer. Now we can't change the frequency bass anf treble
Did you click custom?
Yes but no bass why Treble adjustment.
Can't find it either. I'm guessing you mean those two 'wheels' you could turn for quick changing?
When I choose custom I got them, but not the wheels:
So basically only the advanced custom equalizer? I am OK with that, as I never used the wheels anyway. Always used the custom tab to adjust the equalizer.
I am not sure I am the only one, but on Samsung phones, adjusting the equalizer for most of the db settings actually made the sound far quieter. The only way to get the most sound was to leave the equalizer almost the same everywhere but maybe the middle to settings one could adjust a bit. Has made me wonder if the DAC in the Samsung phones is simply trying to not allow people to hurt their hearing by cranking up certain bandwidths in the custom equalizer settings. Not a huge deal, but kind of disappointing that a phone this expensive doesn't have a kick ass DAC and even normal equalizer settings to play with.

I have the same complain and worst, this level decrease affect Bluetooth too, so, isn't a DAC thing but maybe, a normalization setting kicking in when a particular frequency is boosted....
How I miss the old "two wheels" to adjust EQ like the one in Note9, I think it worked much better than the multiband equalizer in S10/Note10

For music get the paid for Poweramp player. Excellent equalizer and much more.
This is the one you want to handle audio thru put.
It has a lot of settings and will take a considerable amount of time to set up all it's features.
Completely customizable.
Export and save settings. If reloaded on a new OS it will reaquire it's library in under a minute (I have over 6000 wav files organized as albums). It automatically rebuilds playlists as long as you saved the settings ie SD card etc.
Developer continues to support and update it.
Trick stuff, it's sweet
As this old thread is woken up, I might add that the old wheels where OP was looking for are still there...but not via sound menu in settings though:
When changing volume with the rockers, press the two arrows at bottom of appearing slider on screen. The Pop-up window will expand to allow various volume settings. At top-right the equaliser icon can be pressed, which opens an again a pop-up window with equaliser settings, which includes a toggle at top (4th of right) to chose between the frequency sliders or the "two wheels" (bass-trebble and instrument-voice).
My description may suggest it is a quite a hassle, but once used and preference set it is quite ok.
