Gives your Samsung Galaxy S2 a standard USB port so you can access data stored on memory sticks or memory cards
Android is the most versatile mobile phone operating system around, demonstrated to great effect by this micro USB converter. Instead of having to wait until you get home to transfer photos and videos to and from a memory stick or memory card (with a suitable reader), you can plug them into this adapter and access them straight on your phone. This gives you practically unlimited storage for your media without having to turn the phone off to swap out the phone's memory card. It is also perfect for transferring photos taken with a dedicated camera to your phone for uploading to the internet while out and about.

Compatible with USB keyboards for improved typing experience
Another possible use for the Micro USB converter is to plug in a standard USB keyboard to make tying emails and documents on your phone even easier. Simply go to any text field in any app on your Samsung Galaxy S2, and start typing. Or you can just start typing from the home screen to enter Google search. In addition, you can use the arrow keys to select any interactive item on screen, and then press enter to select it - perfect for if you need to switch apps but don't want to have to take your hands off the keyboard.
Small size lets you take it with you anywhere
This cable is small and compact, so you can take it with you anywhere you take your phone. So whether you want to type up a document with your flexible keyboard on the train, or upload photos to your Flickr account while on holiday, with the Micro USB converter you can.

Indeed a wonderful solution and I'm seriously wondering whether anyone has already tried connecting it to a standard usb keyboard?
I'm contemplating buying one (not for connecting it to a USB device but rather for using it with a usb keyboard).

I have the adapter cable but does not work for GS2 but on the HTC HD2 its work.
Why does not work, does not show me any sign that the cable connected. Does it have to be some special cable?

USB host OTG best for galaxy note
Any USB mouse and Keyboard can use just like Plug and Play. Our customers used even wireless USB mouse for testing. Pen drive upto 32 GB support in proper way and also you watch movies without copying to Galaxy note.

It would have to be a powered USB hub. Besides that, it could work. Although, you're not likely to get much computing power out of it... meaning not much word processing or any heavy tasks, really. I'd guess that HD video would probably be out of the question. IMO you'd be better off getting a low end netbook.
Thanks! Yeah just looking to be able to go home and be able to write text with a keyboard and watch youtube videos and such. Maybe even build a docking station with a wooden box or something to hold all the wires. My biggest dilemma is the HDMI cable going through the USB hub.

Yeah, you might sacrifice a bit of resolution like that. I'm not sure you can carry 1080p through USB.
But for the basics, email, surfing, texting and youtube...I think it'd work
on the side of that mhl adaptor it looks like there is a micro usb port and a search on ebay had similar, so plug the mhl directly into the phone and then hdmi to tv/monitor and the micro usb on the side of the mhl to the usb hub.
if the above is not the case then
i would elimnate that gender adaptor coming from the hub out to the female usb to female micro usb, just get a male usb to female micro usb.
the last time i check usb hosting was not supported? pls tell me im wrong tho

Are you sure the device supports simultaneous multiple BT connections?
Also, there are more comfortable BT keyboards out there. I've got the HP, it's got the same spacing/layout as my 15" laptop.
I have simultaneous connections to my Moto S9 headset (music playing), keyboard and mouse. No problems. The music skips once when you connect another device but then everything works perfect.
A bigger keyboard would be nice but this one was cheap.
The mouse is great with android. Right mouse button goes back. Middle mouse is menu. Scroll wheel works great.

Excellent. I didn't mean to sound accusative, I just wasn't sure the multiple device support was there.
Then yeah, @the OP, I'd definitely use BT, too!!

OTG has been around for a while now....
Here's me rocking it on my S2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCrecOR34Fs&feature=g-upl
I know Samsung made the 11 pin micro USB to use MHL and OTG accessories the same time because it was impossible before, and everyone says you can't use both over a normal hub so when the Hell is Samsung gonna release an accessory to do that, because they have delays on Allshare cast, MHL converter adapter(in some countries) and you can't game on Tv with wired controller, mouse, keyboard etc until Samsung bother to release it all, I mean I'm really getting pissed off having a phone capable of so much but right now just feels like an S2 with a bigger screen.
I got the connection kit for the Galaxy S3, it is infact made for the Galaxy S2, but works perfectly fine on the Galaxy S3.
Here is a review I did of it and the MHL adaptor. Sadly they didn't work together(one can wish)

Some please answer the above question. I want to use the microusb port to charge the phone and still use the other ports for mouse/keyboard/flashdrive/etc.
Also, it looks awkward to have large thing hanging off the phone so will this still work through a microusb extension cable?

Can you confirm that you can use one usb port to charge the phone while using the other port for OTG? I recently asked this question on MobileFun's video on this product and someone seemingly from the company says it can't.
http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?v=_SOcHFC3MnI
I am sure this has been answered before but for the life of me I have been searching for a couple of days and I cannot find the answer. Long story short, I have a rooted Kindle Fire that is running the newer kernel that supports USB OTG. I have confirmed that it is working via the app USB Host Controller and I have been able to plug in a USB mouse and use it. However, I am trying to use an IOGear stick SD/Micro SD card reader to quickly view photos taken with my cameras in the field. For whatever reason, USB Host Controller sees the IOGear but as a USB device but the SD cards never show up as mass storage. I have also tried Stickmount but it never sees anything to mount.
What am I missing? Thanks in advance.
Link to the card reader:

I think Targus sd/msd reader is better. They use less volts. Or you could use a powered Usb hub.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using Tapatalk HD
You're missing an external power source. Your SD card won't mount without one, either a wired hub plugged into an outlet, or a Y cable with battery charger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFEMh...ature=youtu.be
Good luck, USB OTG helper seems like the best app for mounting external storage at the moment.

Thanks for both of the replies. I did not realize that the reader needed power. Are you saying that the Targus would work without a power source? Ideally I want to keep this as simple as possible. As I mentioned, it is for checking photos while out in the field hiking and such.
Also, doing a quick search I see a lot of Targus products. Is there a specific one?

So you've mounted an SD card on the fire with no external power? interesting, given the voltage requirement of the card itself I'm happily surprised.
A word of caution. File operations with insufficient power is a known way to damage an SD card, with possible irretrievable data loss. Just a reminder to back up your data so you don't entrust your priceless pics or whatever to a hardware hack on a device with hacked firmware,

http://the-gadgeteer.com/2012/12/17/detech-solar-powered-battery-4-port-usb-hub-and-charger/
Fun fact: SD Cards run at 3.3 volts, just like what the Kindle puts out the USB.
That isn't the problem though, the issue is that some USB devices conform to the USB standards more than others, like voltages.
Some devices will run just fine at 3.3 volts, like all 3 of my USB flash drives are fine, my keyboard, my mouse, and at least one of my bluetooth adapters... But my camera doesn't like it, my XBOX controller doesn't, none of my phones do, etc.
A powered USB hub fixes all that though, since it doesn't rely on host power at all.

I think that the cause is lack of voltage. With a pen or sd card with adapter, works without problems. Even my camera gives to connect. Always with the OTG cable, of course!

That's a shame. Might need to pick myself up a cheap laptop (maybe one of these lenovo flexs') or a wireless hard drive, now in theory the wireless hard drives are powered so, if it is a voltage problem it might work without activating the wireless function.
Just weird that it would work fine on my nexus 5 but not on the tablet. No solid hdd light when plugged into the gpad.
