[Q]Sip App for Samsung Galaxy SII - or stock SIP (where???) - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Hello,
when reading the AndroidUsersGuide-2.3.pdf I can see that the phone should have a possibilty to setup SIP accounts within the stock call App but I cant find any settings???
Anyone got a recommendation for a SIP App if the stock one doesnt work?

Yes the App Fring is very recomendet for Sip calls.
But take care of the battery drain like every other Messenger app

So there's no stock SIP app?

stock sip is disabled and only root modifications can enable it
otherwise, simplesip is pretty good, although it uses the wrong mic on the sgs2 ;-)
much better than fring as in its a real sip client (you need a sip account somewhere) and doesnt uses up battery if you don't register it for incoming calls

OK my Device is rooted so maybe worth a try

Ok, so if we have root how can we enable stock sip?
I would love to connect my phone with my tribox.

CsipSimple will work but you have to go to expert settings and change mic settings like this:
* Use mode API : disabled
* Use routing API : disabled
* Audio mode for SIP calls : "NORMAL"
* Micro source : "DEFAULT"
Then it will work. Tested and works

Or you can use the nightly builds of csipsimple!
Its much better than sipdroid btw!

How to enable native SIP stack on Galaxy S II
There are various VoIP clients you can use for making VoIP calls (Sipdroid, csipsimple, etc.) but I’d definitely recommend giving the original Android SIP stack a try
Normally, all smartphones running Android 2.3.3 or higher come with a native SIP stack, allowing handset owners to register their SIP accounts to make and receive calls.
Unfortunately this feature has been deliberately dropped by the Samsung cowards who obviously bowed to the pressure of greedy telecom providers who are very adamant about having this feature disabled.
Here are the instructions for enabling the native SIP stack on your Galaxy S II again (I think there’s already a similar thread out there by a member named jarsiv):
- Unzip the attached file “android.software.sip.voip.zip” and add it to “system\etc\permissions\". After you’re done, reboot your phone and voila you can enjoy the benefits of the native SIP stack again
By default, the native Android SIP stacks only allows for VoIP calls placed via Wifi (it seems that even the mighty G from mountain view bowed to the enormous pressure exercised by the telcos..), but there is a way to enable support for 3G as well:
- You can modify your framework-res.apk to enable SIP over 3G by editing the xml file "res\values\bools.xml" and setting the parameter for "config_sip_wifi_only" to false.
In order to modify your framework-res.apk you’ll need to follow the following instructions (this is only necessary if you want to enable 3G support and not required if you only want to place VoIP calls via Wifi):
- Download the program “APK Manager” (just search the forum) and install it on your PC
- Copy your original "framework-res.apk" (via adb push or root explorer) to your PC and place your original "framework-res.apk" into the "\place-apk-here-for-modding\" folder
- Launch "script.bat"
- Press 22 to set your project and choose "framework-res.apk" as your project by pressing 1
- After setting "framework-res.apk as your project, press 9 to Decompile the apk
- Edit the xml file "res\values\bools.xml" and change the parameter for "config_sip_wifi_only" from “true” to “false”
- Recompile the apk by pressing 11
- When asked whether it is a system file, answer “yes”
- When asked "would you like to copy over any additional files...?", answer “yes”
- The script will be temporarily paused and you shouldn’t press a key now.
- Now go to the “keep” folder (located in the same folder as "script.bat")
- In the “keep” folder delete the following file:
"resources.arsc"
- Go back to the "script.bat" screen and press a key to let the program finish the job
- Your new "framework-res.apk" has been created and can be found in the "\place-apk-here-for-modding\" folder (it’s called "unsignedframework-res.apk" and doesn’t work yet).
- After unzipping the entire content of the "unsignedframework-res.apk" you should have 5 objects (3 folders and 2 files).
- Now zip these files with Winzip choosing "No compression" as the zipping method
- After zipping it, rename the zip into "framework-res.apk".
- Now you can use root explorer or adb push to replace the original framework.apk with your newly created "framework-res.apk".
Enjoy the native SIP stack with support for both Wifi and 3G
Good luck!

Wow... This is exactly what I was asking for ;-) thanks a lot...
Will give it a try next week and will do the whole instruction for 3G as well.

But how do you do the IP call? There is no IP call alternative when selecting a valid user from contacts like there is on stock Android.

I feel very incompetent here.
I've just purchased my first android, galaxy s2 and really need to understand how to get the native sip on 3g operating.
Any chance of further explanation regards files being copied to / from etc and how to, for these phones.?
thanks.

I am using the Cognition rom with the android native SIP phone client.
SIP works well (only very short lag according to the person I talked to) but microphone volume is very low (the person could barely hear me) unfortunately ... anybody got this issue ? any way to solve it ??
Thanks !
OOPS, SORRY, THE ISSUE WITH THE MICROPHONE IS KNOWN, PLEASE SEE HERE : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109962

[R] Apps we need in the marketplace that I would pay for

Short list for now, but people should add... Maybe give the devs some ideas of stuff to make and submit.
1. Comm Manager - I hate having to goto 5 spots to turn stuff off and on when i dont need it. (3g while at home with my wi-fi, no thanks)
2. Ring Profile - Like NightMode or WorkMode... nice and quick to swap out Tones and Volume levels.
If there is any dev that would like to pick my brain on features and stuff, feel free to PM me.
Everyone else submit your thoughts and ideas...
I would lik an easy to use SMS backup, or record to calendar utility.
I could definitely use a tile that toggles the data connection ON and OFF with a single click. The same goes for the WiFi connection.
Yes - +1 for a live tile to toggle wifi on/off
Also, some kind of 'handsfree' app that will set the phone to auto answer calls and turn on speaker phone (for use in car etc)
SSH client...
Wish List for Apps
1. WP7 Taks List that syncs with Outlook Task
2. File Explorer app that allows me to manual copy files into WP7 or out from WP7, nevermind if it's a separate storage aread away for the system stuff, i just need to use some of the 16GB hanging on the phone that I can use easily...
3. Any App that allows me to read right managed emails...
1. tcpmp player and the ability to add .avi files so I don't have to convert them. (if there is a way to play them without converting please let me know, I download a lot of tv shows through graboid and like to watch them on my phone.
2. psx emulator with bt syncing capability to either a wii remote or ps3 remote.
3. phone number blocking program
Multimessenger (ICQ, JABBER, Live!)
I would like a call manager program like Magicall for WM6. It filters phone calls and SMS's through a user-defined rule set. Not sure if WP7 is even capable of this yet, given the multitasking setup it currently has.

We are getting some nice ideas going, just hoping we have some devs reading this that would be willing to tackle these requests and make some people happy (and some cash for the effort)

The purpose for these types of apps isn't really to send yourself a bookmark for a main website, but more to send a complicated link to save you typing in a 180 character or so URL into your HD7, or having to open up your email and copy / paste a link to yourself (spamming your own email in the process).
For example; I'm on my PC browsing deviant art and I see a cool image that would make a great lockscreen wallpaper for my HD7. I right click somewhere on the page, select "Send to Windows Phone". I pick up my phone, open the "Send to WP7" app, and there's my link to that page. I can now use that image as my wallpaper.
Similarly, if you're reading an article on some website and you've got to get to work but want to finish reading that article on the bus, just send it to yourself with this app and easily pick up the same page on the bus!
It's an incredibly handy and ingenious app in my opinion... with lots of ingenious uses if you can think them up.
I sent a question to the dev that I haven't seen an update for - how to remove those darned links when you're done with them. Until then, the app is useless for me, but it does have potential...

There is now an alternative paid-for app called Browser to WP7 that works on the same idea except it allows links and text to be deleted. It also categorises them in the app and allows you to share them by sms, email, search with bing etc.
I'm waiting to see if Send to WP7 gets any future updates because it's currently free and works pretty well for me.

Hey guys - never noticed this thread until today. I am the author of Send to WP7.
Send to WP7 has the ability to delete links (as of the update several days ago - I was stuck in limbo for several weeks. )
Multi-delete is coming in an application update next week.
Send to WP7 has a live tile # indicating how many links you need to download to the phone. You can already send a link via SMS or Email, just tap and hold, select 'Show All', and then click the mail icon. I'll add more options to the 'right-click' menu soon. I didn't think there was much of a reason for things like 'Search with Google' or 'Search With Bing' (wouldn't you have just done these things on your PC anyway?), but I may add things like that in the future.
Send to WP7 will remain free.
Apologies to the OP for not understanding how to setup the software, I still assert that it is not very complicated if you just read the instructions carefully. I do think I need some updates/screenshots to the setup page, though. On that note, I was never able to figure out how to configure 'Browser to WP7' to use anything but Chrome...
I thought it was simple to use and easy to setup but then again I've been using Chrome to Phone for ages with my Desire now.

Hi cxkx -
Note that Send to WP7 Desktop is an alpha release, I have not built any functionality into the phone app to support it yet. In it's current state, it is best for transferring files. Sending an SMS or Email does "work", but you'll then have to tap & hold the item and select Send via mail. The real name for these items should be something like "prepare SMS/mail."
Again just note that this is all in flux, but I wanted to get it out there so those who really wanted the functionality could have it immediately.

Yes, you enter a message (and optionally a destination contact number, but this won't work until I add support into the phone app itself) and click send. The message is sent to your phone using exactly the same means as the note. If you have enabled push notifications, you'll get a toast. Tap and hold the entry on the phone, and select 'Send info via SMS'. It is not the most elegant procedure, I know...
I ve tried sending the clipboard contents but it didnt work, anything I copy in iexplorer though can be send, maybe a plain html page where you can write and then send using the accelerator will do the trick. Keep on the good work!

I'm not sure why it says the program is executing from C:\Windows\system32, maybe that is related. Usually ClickOnce will set that to your profile (e.g. C:\Users\CK)
It appears that you're getting jumplist callbacks for sending notes, but nothing else - they all use exactly the same mechanism so I'm not sure what'd cause that. It appears you are using a localized version of Windows, what language/locale are you using?

SMS and Voice Telephony on Archos G9 via 3G Stick

Hi community,
At the moment I´m trying to integrate SMS and Voice Telephony on Archos G9 via 3G Stick...
But there are many problems too solve... in facts I don´t succeed!
I heard about a few APKs wich are important for telephony and SMS:
phone.apk (pre-installed [special version?])
telephonyprovider.apk
smspush.apk (pre-installed [special version?])
contacts.apk (pre-installed)
Some of these APKs are pre-installed on the G9 but they seem to be a stub...
How to get telephony and SMS working on a G9?!

Have you tried to simply using 3th party sms and phone applications? They might work. Some people have already discussed about this so you could try searching.
Also if this topic doesn't have any development, it should be on general.

Hi the Archos 3G stick isn't physically capable of handling voice however it will handle sms without a problem
The Framework-res.apk would have to be modified to enable it on Android.
Other 3G Dongle, such as the vast majority of Huawei's ranges do have voice capabilities on the Hardware, Most of the time this has been crippled by carrier branded firmware's. You would normally unlock and debrand them first and again modify the framework-res.apk to enable voice capability on the rom.
Unfortunately although you will be able to place and receive voice calls I have found the audio rooting is in not in place to hear or be heard
It's Something I'm seriously contemplating have a look at ( amongst a million other android things ).
Check out my signature for further guides on this, both with the Archos and Nexus 7.
Hope That Helps

Ok... So there is no chance to get voice data via the stick :/
But how to enable sms?!
[SOLVED]
The sms problem is solved!
How can I receive SMS text messages on my tablet using the 3G stick?
The best way is to do this is to download a 3rd party SMS client application from Android Market. To do this you first need to have market show telephony applications. To do this go to Settings > applications > development > and tick allow mock telephony.
You will now see SMS client apps in the Android Market listing. We recommend you download Go SMS Pro.
Obviously you’ll need the 3G stick in your tablet and for your 3G plan to support text messages to receive text messages on your tablet.
Thx for the help!

Make sure you use an ICS version of Google voice and not an older one. I'm order to sync with gvoice on ICS with a ROM that wont have a registered number you would had have to have already synced with a number before in the past. It wont verify it with just your Google account like it can on a GB version.

I upgraded from an ics rom to a jb rom. I didn't have a problem with Google Voice not working though. I just downloaded the app from the playstore and logged into my account. I'd say make sure you have the right gapps flashed for your rom and check the voice settings on your computer or something to make sure your phone that you are using is showing up there.
For me Voice is pretty buggy and slow; I don't particularly like it. So there are probably other/better alternatives out there if this doesn't work for you

unzip to sd card and install all apks inside "luckypatcher and romtoolbox lite" is optional i used them to install them as system apps but u dont have to.
chromebookmarks has to be installed and the mms and phone and contacts and contact storage and talk and telerphony apks must be installed for gvoice to work then u can use romtoolbox to convert them to system app if u wish so they dont talk up space on sd or exsd.
if gvoice still fc after these steps go to setting then apps then go to google voice then clear cache and data then restart app but still one problem not a big one but all ur contacts must be backed up to sd card easy enoght to do that use current andriod device go to contact app menu select import/export and choose export to sd and then transfer the .vcf file to ur evo and then go to the contact app i just provided u in this post for ur evo and click menu import/export and choose import this time and ur good to go should automaticly find ur vcard '.vcf' file on sd.
this should work for u if u have any questions feel free to ask...
and to the responce to others who answered this question b4 me this issue has nothing to do with witch version of gvoice is installed there no way to download wrong version from google play u can only download the version for ur os witch in this case is andriod 4.0.4 ubersonic rom
and u have to register a number with gvoice apon signup so that absolutely makes no sense.
this issue is caused by the fact all communication apps were removed so when gvoice go to sync up messages and voicemails it also looks for new messages in stock mms apk and stock phone apk and voicemaill apk and uses telephony apk also so when it goes to sync u will get a force close if all apps i provided are not installed. Your Welcome
{NOTE} mms apk will still force close there is no way around this no cell signal and sprint service files are not present is the cause

4.) Using Winrar (associated with .zip files) open all three zips and place so you can access each one.
5.) Select the following apk's from the Ace Rom App folder and drag into the Ubersonic Rom App folder:
Contacts.apk
ContactsProvider.apk
MMS.apk
TelephonyProvider.apk
VoiceDialer.apk
VPNDialog.apk
6.) Select the following apk's from the Gapps App folder and drag into the Ubersonic Rom App folder:
ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleTTS.apk
Talk.apk
7.) Copy the Ubersonic Rom to your SD card and flash as usual. If all goes as it did for me, Google voice should run without crashing. Now all you have to do is install your preferred app to make and receive free Wifi calls and texts. (GrooVe IP, TalkaTone etc.)
I really love the concept of this rom. It resurrected my retired HTC EVO 4G and gave it a second life. I did add a few apps from the PlayStore to it to make it a little better (in my opinion) which I'll list for you in case any of you are interested.
Holo JB HD launcher
Union Apex/Nova Theme
APW
Holo APW Theme
Groove IP
Antek Quick Settings
Ad Blocking host file - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916098
Poweramp
MX Player
Simple MP3
Tubemate
All-In-One Toolbox
My son added DeadTrigger 2 (game) and I added HBOGo and MaxGo which worked flawlessly. I also tried to get the BHTV app working but got an error message when loading any channel. Apparently, the BHTV app has a problem working on CM9 based roms which I believe this rom is. Still, all in all, what was once a phone collecting dust in my drawer has become a feature rich media device that my son now uses for fun and to make free calls and texts over wifi with. Sweeeeet!! Well, hope I helped you guys out. PM me if I can help you with anything related to what I've said here. Peace!!

Themes / Apps / Mods [CLOSED] [SHARED] Google Dialer Mod (call recording and many others mods)

<Moderator Edit>: Thread closed due to the original developer @Jacopo Mii already having a thread for this at [MOD][ROOT] GoogleDialerMod.
Downloads:
Please visit the GoogleDialerMod Release Page
How do I use it?
Always make sure you are using the latest Google Dialer beta from the Play Store to enjoy the latest features
Allow root access to GoogleDialerMod, apply the tweaks you want, then force close Google Dialer app and reopen it a couple of times for them to take effect
There is no need to keep GoogleDialerMod installed after applying the desired mods, because they (should) survive Google Dialer updates / reinstalls over time
How does it work?In every Android device there is a database, called Phenotype.db, managed by Google Play Services, containing special flags that affect the behavior of all Google applications installed.
Some of those flags concern Google Dialer core functionalities, while others are about hidden or upcoming features not yet released.
What this app does is execute SQLite queries on that database and overwrite Google Dialer configuration files to enable or alter its features at will.
Current features:
Supports arm / arm64 / x86 / x86_64 devices and (hopefully) all Android versions
Enable / disable hidden features for all users at once when Android "multiple users" mode is in use
Force enable call recording feature even on unsupported devices or in unsupported countries
Enable also automatic call recording feature based on caller (otherwise only available in India)
Via the call history in the Dialer, you can listen to all the recordings, in an organized way, as each audio is already matched to its respective call in the GUI:
Furthermore, by opening the individual recordings, it is possible to share them using the apposite button:
Among the sharing options, there is also the possibility of copying the file to a folder of your choice:
Silence the annoying "registration has started / ended" call recording sounds
Force enable call screening and revelio (advanced automatic call screening) even on unsupported devices or in unsupported countries
And much more coming soon
Troubleshooting:
After enabling / disabling any switch, please force close and reopen the Google Dialer app a couple of times. You may also need to reboot for the changes to take effect.
Before to report an issue try to delete Google Dialer app data, to reboot your phone and to try again what didn't work

Thanks for the work on this, works like a charm!
Thank you! It worked after a few force closes and reboots
Thanks for the share, now i don't need to call back people to ask what they said again haha
Nice, but where is the recording? I can't seem to find it. Yes, I've looked. Giving me the option to delete the recording, but not play...
Edit. Nevermind. On recent calls list, there will be a microphone next to name. Tap name, then play. I figured a file would show up, but apparently it's saved as app data

Google Dialer by default saves the call recording audio files in the /data/data/com.google.android.dialer/files/callrecording path.
Can be listened or deleted from historical call or recents calls

Doesn't work if "Silence call recording alerts" is enabled.
And even if disabled, records only when manually turned on (no auto-recording)
It doesn't work for me. Tried everything with also with newest beta. I'm on nameless rom (aosp) but can't record calls.
Don't use Beta, on beta doesn't seem to work

Thank you very much for the thread.
The call recording works for me but the recording notification is heard, how can I delete the notification?

Back to stable and reboot and still an error trying to record.
in the stable version of Google dialer it works perfectly. I have had to open and close the mod many times until it has worked. Now Resists restart. thank you very much for the thread.
The original thread for this mod is https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/mod-root-googledialermod.4330055/
I won't monitor this one.
