Have tried beautiful widgets and apn on/off and neither allow me to turn mobile data on or off!
Any suggestions would be most appreciated?
Use a custom ROM like CyanogenMod, it has widgets to do this.
try switchpro, it works for me

Do you mean turn the mobile network off or mobile data? I don't think any turn the mobile network off but I know extended controls and widgetoid 2.x turn data off by renaming your APN.

Hi there and thanks for the reply. Are you using ADW launcher?

Yeah it's a pain. I want one to be able to turn mobile data on and off but it seems there are no widgets that will work with a launcher that turn mobile data on!

I've already been around the block with roms and am happy with my current leedroid 2.4 rom (the most stable i've come across)
Is CyanogenMod a gingerbread rom? Whilst I admire the developers of all roms I've just ran out of patience with gingerbread roms as they all seem to go pear shaped eventually and am fed up keep backing up and flashing roms on a regular basis. I'm waiting for the official gingerbread release as I believe the roms will be far more stable when this is out.

Hi,
is it possible to have this kind of switch on a rootet desire? The Redux ROM seems to have this feature but other roms dont. On the Market are no such apps, there are only shortcuts
To be clear, i dont want to disable the mobile data. I just want to be able to swich between 3G and 2G with one click.
Thanks for Help
This should work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739530
or this:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.curvefish.widgets.network2g3gonoff
Are there some other apps?
The first one is doing the switching automaticly, the second is just a shortcut to config.

You definately did not try any of them, because if you did, then you should know by now, that the first one has the option in the menu to "Switch back 3G Manually". This is all for now.
And no there no official apps, because this feature is not enabled in Android. MAybe if google enables then there will be a proper app.
Well i definitely tried them both. And i saw this "Switch back 3G Manually" option but it didnt work on my rom (Reflex 1.9.5). As i said its not exactly a "manuall switch" it does automatic switching to 2G wich i dont want to happen.
The cyanogen ROM has a power widget which allows you to switch between the two manually...
Yes and Redux too but i'm using Reflex rom and there is no such feature
Ah I see - I know tasker has the capability of switching between the two and it's sister app Zoom allows you to create widgets that call tasks created in tasker. Not tried it but maybe something to look into

Did you dowloaded everything for the program? Because, if you download the plug-in, it allows you to create a home widget and you can switch easily between 2G/3G. At least on Froyo (ImsertCoin Data++)
Maybe the GB/Sense ROMs don'tt support it.
Yes i did, but the widget didnt work. Maybe its because of GB.
Yes, then the app is not supporting GB ATB (worked on 2.2.1 froyo).

I also tried to find a working toggle widget for Gingerbread sense roms. Nothing found yet Maybe we have to wait until devs could add it to the quick menu..

Not yet, will try it - THX
EDIT: Could not try because I had to buy tasker for 4,50€. Maybe I'll try when I am at home. Perhaps I find a free alternative in the meantime, I'd let you know.
You can download tasker for free off the devs website (7 day trial).
http://tasker.dinglisch.net/download.html
I did it a direct purchased for £3.50. Best app I've bought.
Forewarning: I have not posted for help here before. I will try to include as much detail as is necessary without giving way to a flood.
Device: VZW Galaxy Nexus
OS: Cyanogenmod 10.1 (toro)
App attempted: Wifi Tether for Root Users (v 3.2-beta2)
I chose the above app because it seems to be what a great deal of people use once rooting their phones. When I tap to start tethering, I'm told that errors have happened and that I can view the log to see them. I've attached a screenshot of the log.
Any suggestions, anyone?
Why are you using some app other than stock?
CM supports it with out of the box functionality.
Settings--> More-->Tethering & portable hotspot-->Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

I am not a clever man. I wasn't certain if I would be able to use the CM default hotspot without VZW finding out. So long as that thing is safe to use and they won't find out, then I'll definitely use that instead.

They can easily find out. Whatever you're tethering will likely have a user agent other than the Android one. Anybody with 2 brain cells can figure out what that means.
Well then

Solved!!!! The problem is that my network operator (CoopVoce) is virtual.
So I had to modify my APN setting adding "default, supl" as APN type.
Now it works great!!!!
I think title says all
Profiles app would be better, I tried with Atooma, AutomateIt, Smart Profiles, Battery Doctor Pro, but nothing allows me to switch directly between 2G and 3G.
I would use it because 2G uses a lot less battery than 3G so when I don't need mobile data (e.g. under Wifi) i would set a profile with 2G+WiFi On, elsewhere 3G+Mobiledata On+Wifi Off.
Thanks in advance for your help mates!
I use Tasker a lot and used to be able to do this switch with my Nexus One (CM7). Not possible on my HTC One. At least not with stock kernel. If someone knows how to make it possible or say why it isn't, I would be grateful.

It doesn't :crying:
Copying from the app description:
Auto Answer Call, Control Media, Display Notification, Delete SMS, Enable/Disable Bluetooth & Connect to Audio Device, Enable/Disable Auto Rotate, Enable/Disable Auto Sync, Enable/Disable Data, Enabled/Disable GPS (*), Enable/Disable Wifi, Enable/Disable Wifi Hotspot, Forward SMS, Kill Application (*), Launch Application, Make Call, Open Website, Play Sound, Popup Message, Reboot/Power Off(*), Record Microphone, Say Current Time, Send SMS, Set Brightness, Set Airplane Mode, Set Keyguard (**), Set MacroDroid Mode, Set Ringtone, Set Screen Timeout, Set Volume, Set Wallpaper, Share Location, Sleep Before Next Action, Speak Text, Take Picture, Upload Last Photo, Vibrate
This is the actions set configurable in the app..
Then try Tasker,
it's ultimate tool for android a bit hard to learn at begining but then.... nothing is impossible.
E.g. i have profiles based on my location ( according to gsm antennas around my home ), day time or calendar.

Tasker is great and well worthwhile to learn to use, but it is not possible to switch network mode on stock kernel. I will try other kernels this summer and report back if I find one where it works.

Yup, i dig in more, and it seems it needs Cyano cause special API permissions.
I still wonder if it is achievable through some 3rd party...
I just installed Experimental kernel. It is great, but lacks this 2g/3g switch capability.

Hey,
So I want to use the wireless tethering in the stock ROM, but i'm not sure how to remove the subscription check. FoxFi doesn't seem to work, nor does Wifi Tether for Root Users. Is it like Moto phones in where you find the carrier information and modify it with an SQL editor? I'm kind of confused.
Thanks!
Zeke.

I installed Foxfi from the store ...opened it...left it as an open network...set the pin lock...accepted the credential. ..it asks to go to my settings to start up wifi hotspot...
Hope this helps.
Foxfi works perfectly fine on my retail note. My ps4, laptop and iPad all connect without an issue. I do have the paid key
For those of you that have the paid version, are you missing the menu button? I also downloaded the add on and somehow the extra options including the proxy settings are missing. Doesn't the proxy settings allow you to conceal the data usage from Verizon?

Hi there,
in the past in the cm and other roms I had those quick toggles available, nowadays I can't seem to find them working on the OP3. I know about gravitybox and such, but those do not seem to be working flawlessly at all (though I'm not sure as it's been since OP1 i even tried)
What roms do still support that ? Or is android not making it possible anymore ?
I never posted this question, but can't seem to find same question either ...
Is this only me or have I been looking in wrong place ?
Thx for any help!
I'm currently using exodus rom
