Can't believe no one has helped yet. The screen looks fine when charging? Maybe you should try Odin anyway. Go through the motions of putting it in download mode and see if Odin recognizes it then flash an EC05 tar if it does.

nothing from that guide should stop your phone from booting... root and recovery have nothing to do with boot process.
let it charge for a half hour. (even if it doesnt look like it is), then unplug USB, then take out the battery, put it in, then hold power button.
if it still dont work, take it back to the store. if it cant turn on, they cant prove you rooted it.

If you take it to the store, and they see that you have CWM, Superuser, or even that flash counter tripped, you're warranty is void. If you're lucky you might get a nice rep but bringing it to the store is one of the worst things you can do.
Hey guys, I'm not sure if my phone is dead. It was running fine this morning, Task & Ktoonsez' AOKP with Ktoonsez kernel. However, I tried to unlock it a little while ago and it wouldn't go on. It boots to the splash screen, both normally and going into recovery, but it doesn't last long enough to go into recovery or boot normally. I try to boot into download mode and it boots, but the phone turns off after a few seconds.
I tried to flash back to stock in Odin, but the phone doesn't stay in download mode long enough for the flash to finish.
I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated.
Pretty sure if it was bricked it wouldn't boot into download mode at all. It sounds like it is losing power or something. The only thing I can think of is maybe your battery is bad. Download mode can run off of USB power if you remove the battery after booting into it. Maybe plug your phone in and boot into download mode, then take your battery out before it shuts off and see if it stays on.

No dice. It just did the same thing it's been doing. I went into download, popped the battery, it stayed in download for a few seconds, and then powered off.
Could it be a faulty power button? The phone is constantly vibrating by itself and if the power button was messed up it could be causing the phone to leave download mode.

As far as I can tell pressing or holding the power button in download mode will only restart it, but won't shut it off. Also it takes about 10 seconds. I don't think it's your power button.

Ah, okay.
In that case, though, I have no clue what's causing the problem here. At this point the only thing I can do is enter download mode for a few seconds, but I can't get it to be enough time to flash a ROM in Odin.

Might be a dumb question... Is your battery charged? I'd plug it in for a while off and see if the battery logo comes up and than try putting it in recovery or download.

I tried that too. It's been plugged in for a while and the same thing happens. It just stays in download mode for a few seconds and then turns off. Also, I tried flashing back to stock in Odin but it failed because the phone turned off before the flash could finish. Now the phone says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select Recovery mode in Kies and try again."
So it's basically stuck in download mode cause of a corrupted flash. If I could get the phone to stay in download mode, I could flash it back to stock with Odin, but it's not giving me enough time at this point.
I'm running into the same problem currently, I was wondering if you were able to find a solution. Same ROM same Kernel. I've been using my current version of the ROM since October and haven't flashed anything recently, It just died on me last nigth and now I'm experiencing what you are as well. I was able to turn on the phone somehow last night but it stayed on for couple of mins and turned off again. At the time I had 60% charge.
Thanks
Unfortunately not. Sent my phone back to AT&T and they honored the warranty (despite it being very clear that I was rooted and on custom software).

Thanks. I got the phone when it launched so it's been over a year hence I'm well over the one year manufacturer warranty. Doubt they'll honor it for me =/.
Bad news, It's not about software, it's a hardware issue.
I had that issue with a Sprint S3,
The power button switch is stuck pressed all the time, you can try to hit it a little and maybe it pops out but the issue is gonna still there.
If you remove and insert the battery does it vibrates and tries to turn on without pressing the power button?

yup I just realized it was the power button issue. I managed to fix the problem[kind of], i kept trying to get into download mode while connected to AC Adapter with official charging cables. And it stayed in download mode long enough for me to go back to stock ROM. I'm just trying to avoid hitting the power button as much as possible because every time I do something goes crazy and phone turns off.
I'm gonna try and go to AT&T store tomorrow to see if they can do anything about this.
Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.
You're welcome. Good luck dude

I have the same problem. I've tried to install quickly the twrp. But is not time enough
My problem was the battery. After charge a lot, all thing works fine.
i was using the carbon rom with no problems, it was working great, but just a half hour ago i was listening to music and texting (i always do this), and then phone just turned off. I tried to reboot it but it wont! it always shuts off while booting. i made it to CWM, but it turns off while in CWM. i also made it to download mode, which led me to assume that the phone is not bricked, but it doesnt stay on download mode, it just turns off randomly. i figured maybe it was battery, so i tried another, and no change! does anyone know what the issue is? i cant figure out how to keep the phone ON, or why its not staying on.
btw, i got it to boot completely just once, and it was acting up still. any ideas? i dont mind losing all my info on phone, theres not much on there, so ill use odin, but how can i do this when the phone doesnt even keep itself ON download mode? please help
Thanks in advance

come on...no one?
Try this way
Remove the Battery, SIM Card, and any External SDCards.
With the Battery removed plug the USB into your phone.
While holding both the Up+Down Volume button and the USB is plugged into your phone - put the battery back into the back of the phone. You should see the Download mode screen pop up.
If you see the Powered Off Charging screen - attempt the above steps again.
Hit thanks if I helped

i can get the phone into download mode without a problem, i could even get it into CWM; the real issue is the phone just wont stay on. it just shuts off randomly. so basically when i put it in download mode and let it sit, itll shut off again. im afraid to connect to odin to flash back to stock because what if it shuts off while odin is running (which it probably will)? itll brick for sure imo.
i figured it was a faulty battery, but a different battery resulted in the same thing.
i know its not bricked, its booted right now finally, but i know if i restart it, itll act up again....

If you can stay in cwm ... then try finding a cwm flashable stock rom for your phone and flash it ....

I was trying to flash back to stock via Odin. All was going fine, until my phone shut OFF in the middle of the flash.
I forgot to check battery level, so my bad... The issue now is I can not do anything. When I power on the phone
it gives me that short vibration for a second then nothing.
The screen NEVER comes on, no light in the LED circle, nothing !!! So I can not go into TWRP or stock recovery.
Is there any thing I could try that I am not aware of ???
Thank you for any idea's
Have you put the phone on a charger for a few hours?

i am having the same issue power failure occured while firmware upgrade could you find any solution?
Well i have found some information on the net about using a JIG and plug it inside the usb port of the phone to force it to boot into download mode and then having to flash the firmware of the phone. I haven't tested this theory as yet so i can't leave an answer
Probably JTAG is your only solution or maybe Mediatek have some low tools you can use.
I need help too. Stuck in Odin mode and cant go any where. Tries to bypass the pattern I forgot and dint knw what to do now
