Hey everyone,
Lately i've been trying to get to stock rom , which seems to be impossible since my phone wont recognize PC10IMG.zip , in Hboot , and my camera gives purple/green colors, i've been trying for a while to unroot my phone but i really think it isn't recoverable anymore , once i accidently putted G2 stock rom on my Desire z because i was following the wrong tutorial it seemed.. but my phone normally runs htc sense , so i rerooted it to get permission to recover my old roms back , but from of that moment i only got trouble , my phone only recovers my MIUI rom and not my 1.34 stock sense roms which i backed-up and which worked previously and not anymore , they just freeze and splash htc boot screen.
So i guess i got no other choice then send it back to HTC? and let them fix it? , i'd probably have to pay 100,- or 200,- since i got illegal rom on it.
What would you guys do in this **** situation lol :/?

Do you have ClockworkMod recovery installed?
ofc lol

since my rebooting issue has gotten progressively worse, i'm obviously now going to have to get the phone back in for repair.
i assume i'll need to re-root it and re-flash the stock rom to be on the safe side, in case of any accusations i've invalidated the warranty. i know it sounds like a daft question, but what exactly is the stock rom ?
is it the official HTC Sense rom ? i guess i'm so used to using OpenDesire and, more recently, Oxygen, i've kind of lost sight of what the official rom used to look like.
cheers
This is where you have a problem. You need to put the Orange ROM back on it and that is the only ROM never to have been leaked...you'll either have to put a stock WWE ROM on it or hope Orange are nice enough to not invalidate your warranty and fix it regardless...
You could try this but there's no guarantee it'd work...

The method eddyOS posted woirks fine for me I tested it after I debranded my desire then rooted it.

Orange replaced my desire with that rom on it. It but it leaves superuser apk in system apps and probably busybox and whatever else unrevoked adds to /system too. But it will be unrooted with stock radio, recovery and hboot. The only difference is superuser.apk afaik.

Hi,
does this process also work for SLCD's? or is it just for AMOLEDs.
Ta
Mike
Don't know. Wouldn't reccomend trying untilled you have a definate answer to be honest. I don't think slcd devices were out at the time that image made so it probably don't support it.
I would stick with the stock European unbranded rom myself, ignorance is bliss of they ask anything.
Pretty sure it's AMOLED only...there's a chance an Orange RUU might be available soon
Oh really - keep us posted!
There's nothing wrong with my Orange Desire but I like to know what options are available to unroot it if things go pear shaped.
Thanks for the info.
Assuming an Orange RUU doesn't become available, I would imagine the method mentioned above could be used if anyone was available to supply a NAND from an SLCD on 2.1?
Mike
Cant see anythign bar the startup screen on mine that says " Orange " I have taken off all the demo rubbish ... so they would only know .. by looking at the build number etc... the look of the phone lloks like anything else out there ....
as long as you dont put Windows 7 on there !! LOL should be ok
It wont work with SLCD as it was from the nandroid of my phone which is AMOLED.

Appreciate the link - thanks. I'll have to put that rom back on it and hope for the best.
Worst case scenario, i'll just have to sell the desire on ebay and claim ignorance to the rebooting .. not that i'd do that of course
I wouldn't worry too much I had to send back my last phone, a tocco, I had debranded it and ruined the camera by try to flash new firmware on it, they replaced it with no problem. I remember I saw posted in a forum from someone that works at orange claiming they don't check firmware etc anyway
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
that's encouraging to know craig, thanks.
i got my desire from phones4u initially, but I got the impression from speaking to the manager today that it would be sent back to HTC rather than Orange.
It's going to be a few days before I can borrow a phone to use in the mean time, so i can always decide if i'm going to follow the procedure to re-root and go back to the stock flash.
I might meet them halfway and just get a rom that looks like it's stock - i've unlocked the handset as well so I'd rather not chance paying to do that again.
Ha HA! It worked
Back to the Orange Sense crap Rom.
God it's horrible. I've been using custom roms for so long, i've forgotten how Sense actually looks
Anyway, it's randombly rebooted twice since i've restored the stock rom so the problem hasn't gone away. but at least i'll be happier sending it back for repair now.
(And it's just rebooted itself a third time while i've been typing this )
I'd first get the 2.2 OTA and make sure it's not fixed in that but yeah send it back if still doing the same. Chances are getting a replacement will leave you with an SLCD screen so this roll back won't be possible
The third reboot actually did happen after the 2.2 update.
I don't mind so much if i get an SLCD screen in a way - as long as I can flash another rom back on to it then i won't mind.
I accept it's a gamble in case it goes wrong again but I really don't want to keep this sense on it any longer than I have to.
this isn't good .. i was fiddling with the phone just now and it randomly rebooted - again.
It came up to the white screen with the HTC logo and didn't move. I popped the battery and turned it back on again and it's now stuck at the HTC screen again.
Getting rather concerned it's just died totally ..
I think it's gone .. i can't even get it in to recovery. My only option is to try the "clear storage" option for a factory reset. if that doesn't work ...
HI,
I've read around a bit and I the root and custom rom procedure itself I think won't be any problems ..
But before I proceed I do have a few questions...
I'm pretty known with modding and playing around with devices it's firmware.. So I know it has risks
But when I do accidently brick my phone ... How likely is it I can debrick it ?? Or is any brick more likely to turn my phone into an expensive paperweight?
Also .. How easy is it to put back the stock rom and unroot my device in case I want to return the phone for any reason??
And final question .. I see a lot of custom roms around .. but I could'nt really find a page in which I can narrow down wich rom is best for me.
Thanks in advance.
If you're used to messing with firmware then it shouldn't faze you too much.
As for bricking a phone, as long as you have CWM you should be able to boot to recovery and fix any issues.
All of your questions will be answered in the thread below as well as numerous 'how to guides'. Spend some time reading it:

As for custom roms, the choice is yours. Mine is in my sig.
As far as i know no one had ever bricked a desire hd
It's really hard to brick it completely, even if you want to
Tapatalked with Tapatalk from my Desire HD using Tapatalk.
Thanks for your replies ..
But what about restoring to stock rom and unrooting ?? any page on that ..
Also is there a page where all custom roms are discussed pro's/cons ??
And a bit of an OT question... ..
Does gingerbread provide syncing notes with exchange ??
Pls help
Hi all. I have a htc desire hd rooted and s-off but brander and I tried to use rom manager without backup so I lost the stock rom and the coustom one pls help me to fix this
The furthest I have ever bricked it was getting it into a boot-loop... scared me for a moment!
But, it was easily fixed by pressing volume-down + on button and it would get me straight back into the CWM Recovery in which I could do a full wipe + flash a new rom.

Well there was this one guy who overwrote HBOOT with the kernel
But I believe that HTC repaired it under warranty.
Indeed .. I flashed the rom/ radio a few times now and rooted the sucker ..
ROM flashing went bad one time but I was just able to reflash ..
I see a lot of warnings to be careful with radio flashing ..
But if you were to flash a wrong or busted radio rom .. can't you just reflash it via the recovery menu ?? or does your phone become an expensive paper weight if you corrupt the rom ??
Flashing radios need Hboot Eng s-off, and bootloader is essentially the "bios" of the phone. If this partition becomes corrupted, depending on other circumstances, the phone maybe become unbootable...... This has happened to some recently, and the only option left was HTC.

Ok but you can only brick it due corrupted roms..
So for instance in I flash Radio_12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3 (unkown source)
And did the MD5 check ... I't unlikely I would brick my phone ?
If the ROM is corrupted, your not likely to brick it, as your writing data to different partitions than the Radio. If your flashing a radio and checked the md5, best to do it from dc (battery, not plugged in) powered laptop. Don't want a power cut or surge, as your flashing to phone "bios" partition.
Edit: you'd also want to double check it's the correct radio for the phone.

What hboot version you running? Could be that because I had the same when installing a gb ROM

You could run an ruu to update to 0.93 then root the flash a rom again. You also could try to reflash a rom that you installed. But prob update first.

Hey everyone,
Lately i've rooted my phone ,and i'm like rooted for a week now, and i'm using MIUI ROM atm.
But i wanted to know how i could unroot and get back to my stock rom? , my reason for this is because i think my camera is broken so i need to send it back. when i launch my camera i get like rainbow colors.
Could someone lead me to a unroot HTC desire Z guide, or help me?
to get my HTC sense Stock back.
Thanks.
Turn off camera effects?
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
it's not my camera effects , that's the 1st thing i checked , i also tried other camera's apps all ended up as same effect. It's probably broken.
But i got a next probleem :/ , i dont know how to unroot my phone , looking everywhere for guides but really cant find one. besides i already tried to get 1.34 stock on my phone which is impossible , it wont detect the PC10IMG.zip in hboot and the back-up i made of 1.34 rom back then is not possible to recovery anymore either , it keeps getting stuck at boot screen, could my phone be bricked?
can someone help me?

Mate,
If you use google with this keyword "How to unroot htc desire z", you will find a link to unroot DZ/G2. But I will not put it here because it is not in XDA
Cheers
the guide that you mean is the guide i tested.
it says G2 - t-mobile \ HTC desire Z
i tried that guide and ended up with a G2 t - mobile rom , while i need a HTC sense stock rom , so that's a guide for G2 phones. and you also need S-On and as i can remember while u root u get S-off
my friend told me i could unroot my phone by simply re-installing 1.34 and then let it update ? , but the problem i have is it wont detect the 1.34 PC10IMG.zip package
, and yea i did rename it to PC10IMG , but it still wont detect it :/ , somehow i have a idea that my phone is damaged cuz of the t - mobile rom. because i had no root acces when it got installed so i had to reroot it to go back. previously before i installed the g2 rom accidently , i could go back to my 1.34 whenever i wanted , and now it isn't possible anymore since it will get stuck at the boot.
anyone know how to detect 1.34 PC10IMG? or how to atleast root my phone to HTC sense stock
Hi fellow members
I've been running revolution hd 9 mod for a long time now, and today i went back to stock rom and then upgraded to 4.1 JB cause i've heard all these good things about it. When i upgraded i was like, screw it i'm gonna root this phone and get some cyanogenmod. The problem is now after i rooted it it was stuck on boot screen. Been trying to get it back to stock, but i can't. I get this error 150 wrong bootloader version. I think it's because i'm on 1.39 hboot. and i've tried every ruu, like 5-6 and alot of recovery.img. But nothing works.
Can someone help me ?
