Has anyone ever heard of(or if you're a dev, ever though of) a rom for the incredible without any phone or 1x/3g capabilities. Cause a lot of us Incredible users are upgrading to a new phone, and I still love my incredible and would probably keep CM7 as a backup, but would love to throw a rom the gets rid of all phone and radio usage to try to max the battery and speed and what not and use it as kind of a ipod touch of sorts.
I look at the roms a lot, but never came across anything? And is anyone else kinda wanting the same type of thing for it?

Well ya I obviously know that, but I was just curious if anyone thought of doing that kind of thing before/would if make the battery life or performance any better with those options completely lacking so the phone couldn't even think about them.
CPCookieMan was working on something like this for the Eris.

I think the main trick is getting the Wifi, and Bluetooth radios working but keeping the cell off. You can turn on Airplane mode but that disables bluetooth.
Might be possible to do this with an app, such as tweaking the settings in Juice defender.

Hmmm ill check that app out. Ill have to try out a few options and take notes hahaha
And ya I was thinking airplane mode but my radio is Bluetooth.

I would just turn on airplane mode. That way you could use any rom you wanted.

Please help....
I have read many threads about this, but I don't understand any of them. My battery life is horrible, I am only using it for the occasional phone call, texting and checking my email. It's very frustrating because when I need to use it, the battery is dead (or almost dead and I can't use the camera).
I don't understand all the lingo on here about what version "this" and "that" everyone is using. Downloading certain apps to fix this.....
I'm not very techy and just use my phone for basic things.
PLEASE HELP!!!!
Suggestions:
Turn off bluetooth until you need it, then turn off when done.
Turn off GPS until you need it, then turn off when done.
Turn screen brightness to automatic or lowest setting (your preference).
Turn off 4G receiver if you are out of range or just don't have 4G coverage in your area.
Turn off synchronization if you don't care for email, Facebook, Twitter, etc updates. (Not really necessary if your update interval isn't set for short intervals.)
Utilize Wifi as much as possible, if that is an option available to you. BUT turn it off when you know you will be out of range for a good bit of time.
Toggle Airplane mode after each phone reboot. (Stupid bug)
Utilize the TouchWiz program manager (long press on home screen and under Samsung widgets).
Kill the OmaDrmConfigService process via Settings > Applications > Running Services. (This appears again with each phone reboot, unless you find a process killer application in the market.)
If you use Wifi a good bit, it's a good idea to set your Wifi sleep policy to "Never". You can access this via Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wifi Settings: Press menu and select Advanced > Wifi Sleep Policy. Setting to never will not revert back to 3G when you turn off your phone's display as long as wifi is still turned on and within that connected wifi signal range.
If you still get **** battery life, then you can download Spare Parts or BatteryHistory from the market. BatteryHistory is a ripped out piece from Spare Parts, which is really all you need to diagnose your issue.
OR if you don't want to install anything you can key in via the dialer: *#4636*1111# to get to the same menu that both programs above display. (The menu is labeled Battery History.)
From another battery thread that pertains to the two aforementioned programs:

What you do is when you notice that it's doubled on the top drop down box that says "other usage" click on that and change it to "partial wake usage" and anything listed under there is keeping your phone awake. See what is continually running.

Dont ask me to explain this just try it. Use astro and delete the android folder at the root of your sd card and reboot

Did deleting the android folder work or anyone else? I'm trying to see how that can help but if it does good find.
I have no ideawhy but after flashing a few times testing themes on dk28 my battery tanks and my gallery gets slow. The album thumb folder inside there is what fixes the gallery so I usually delete it but I got lazy and deleted my whole folder since it regenerates on boot and my battery came back. Ben deleting it since lol but I flash a lot

Not certain how it helped your battery issue, but good to have that knowledge. I sifted through my folder and only saw cache files for what looked like thumbnails.

Try this:
-Toggle airplane mode every time you reboot. You probably have a "time without signal" of over 50% if you look in settings. Toggling airplane mode resets the radio and so it doesn't keep looking for signal unnecessarily which kills battery
-Gps on doesn't drain battery, only when its being used by an app
-Turn off background data and auto sync. If you don't have facebook/twitter widgets or care about email push notifications then save some power and switch it off.
-Check for apps that aren't letting the phone sleep. Download "spare parts" and it should show you.
-I'm guessing you have the updated Facebook app with chat. I would suggest going offline in chat because it doesn't let the phone sleep and will drain your battery really fast.

Do you feel it really increases battery time?
I am currently trying out Juice Defender free on the standard preset for my unmodded Galaxy Nexus. Unfortunately I am not thinking that I am going to continue with it.
So far it has crashed my phone to reboot (first time that has happened) and when not using my 4g it turns it off but it takes forever for it to come back on once I want to use the phone and it gets pretty frustrating having a useless phone for about 5-8 minutes everytime I pick it up.
I hope you have better luck than I am having.

Strange. It's never done any of that on mine. I'm on HSPDA+ though.
As for whether if makes a difference I'd definitely have to say a big yes. But it all depends on how you use your phone.
Ultimate working nicely here. Syncs every 15 min like it should. Screen is eating 60-70% so it makes only a small difference.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I bought ultimate, and found it to be a bit of a hog. I then turned off all the extra stuff and went back to the basic setting - the same as the free version, and noticed very little difference.
I think it might help you if you're one of those people who accidentally leaves radios on, or don't have high signal most places you go. For me a UV kernel made the only real difference.
It works well but not saving as much battery as it did on Gingerbread. Default Android idle-time battery management seems to have got much better.

This. I see a nice increase in battery life while I'm not using it, but if I have it on a lot (which I usually do) the battery gets drained pretty quickly.
I keep my phone on CDMA mode most of the time, unless I need to download something or want to watch a movie, then I switch to CDMA/LTE. I'm still not sure how much it helps though, as I've only had the phone for a little over a week.
For me, JD Ultimate works wonders. Especially when I'm at work and not playing with the phone too often and having only 2 signal bars, JD enables radio every 30 mins to allow apps to sync. It also manages my brightness automatically, which results in screen usually taking less than 50% of battery.
In general it helps me a lot, like it did on SGS2. My night schedule uses airplane mode and I only loose 2-3% over night.
I would have to remember about too many things if not using JD, so for me well worth it.

It does, i never used beta and JD controls my brightness. Remember there is a bug related to manual apk install where you cant tap install. I still use JD for brightness, just disable it in quick menu when manually installing apps then reenabling right away.

Thank you for your answer.
When JD is managining brightness, if the phone is asleep, when waking it up with the power button the screen comes full brightness and then settles to a lower level, which is quite annoying. Do you see this happening too?

That is totally weird, cause mine seems to wake up high and only then lower the brightness. I wonder if it's ROM related, although I'm on stock kernel 4.0.3.

Beacuse, believe it or not, it provides functions that some people find useful. Same goes for LightFlow, if you like the white-only color led notification of pure android, then you don't need this app either. If you prefer more colors/choices, then you do.

I purchased JD Ultimate yesterday so I can't really comment on how well it is improving my battery life. I will say that I am having issues going back to LTE when the screen is unlocked (Using the network mode setting). The phone keeps going to WCDMA instead of LTE. However, I noticed that since I have been using JD Beta 3.8.8, version 3.8.9 has come out and has addressed a few of my issues. The configure apps now works without crashing JD. I still don't know if the LTE is functioning incorrectly as I haven't had time away from my computer (I have no Wi-Fi at my hotel and must tether).
Is anyone else experiencing issues with the phone going to WCDMA mode after the phone wakes up? Also, what version of JD are you using?
When I turn off the screen of my phone, I lose my wifi and data connections. The icons of them in the status bar turn white rather than the usual green. The only way I have found to fix this is to put the phone in airplane mode then take it out. Which is really inconvenient EVERY time I want to use this. I know that when the WiFi turns green it means that the phone is connected to Google. But it never goes back from white to green even after I let it sit for a few seconds and try something to push data through. Even when it's green it doesn't work until I reset the radio.
Things to know:
1. I am rooted.
2. It is the AT&T LG Nitro HD (LG P930)
3. It is the V10f software version.
4. I have not tried a factory reset yet because of the hassle. Yes I know about titanium, it's just time consuming.
If anybody else has this problem, please let me know. Hopefully we can get this fixed.
Update: I fixed my problem by installing Wi-Fi fixer. But it still makes me mad that this occurs. Maybe we can try to find the source of the problem.

Nope, I'm not running juice defender. The only task killing app I use is Advanced Task Killer which I only ever use when I need to quickly restart an app, I don't use it every 10 minutes like some people do.
I had a weird incident where I lost my wifi radio...wouldn't detect any wifi ssids...don't know what caused it. But your situation seems similar...sadly I have know idea how it got fixed...rebooted phone a couple of times and haven't had a problem since.
I am looking to buy the Nitro HD for WiFi only use and maybe occasional prepaid use. I will flash to some deodexed ROM or maybe CM9 so I am not so concerned about software issues in the stock ROM.
What I am more concerned about is - how are the cameras for Skype/Google Video etc?
Any way to turn off all radios except WiFi by default everytime the phone starts up?
Thanks.
^^bump^^
I'll chime in here, I use mine as a wifi only device. As far as Skype/google video goes, video calls are great. I don't have a Sim card in mine and the mobile settings are greyed out which I'm assuming the cellular is off.
I'm currently running the latest cm9 nightlies and the device keeps getting better and better.
Battery life is definitely better than gingerbread. Battery life is within reason for a device this powerful while on wifi. The only battery drain I've found is being out of range of a wifi area. It seems the device goes on over drive looking for wifi and within an hour, majority of your battery is dead. This might be a CM9 issue, I'm not sure on that. Just remember to turn off your wifi when out and about.
Thanks for the response. I got myself a used one for $200 today off Craigslist. Will put leaked ICS ROM on it
Looks much sweeter than my iPhone 4S!!
UP!UP!
The super screen is eye candy. Using wifi it will last for 5-7 hours, while using 3g only for 2-3 hours.
For these two reasons, i often use it only as WIFI.
Will somebody introduce a super airplane mode without shutdown of WIFI?

Anyways, sold off my Nitro and moved on. Thanks for all the responses.
To start off with; i get good battery life; right now I'm at 1 day 3 hours and I have 39% left.
I was wondering however, does setting the Wifi to go off when the screen is off help significantly on the battery? And if so...is there some other negative issue that I'm not aware of if I set it this way?
I'm pretty sure any sort of data connection will use more of your battery than WiFi will. So if you're always around a strong WiFi connection you probably should leave it on at all times.

Oh that is funny.
I just do everything everyone else does:
1.) Screen off when not in use
2.) Screen brightness down as much as possible.
3.) Dark theme.
4.) Tasker profiles to turn off wifi when not near my house or work.
5.) Tasker profile to turn off GPS when not actively using certain apps.
6.) Tasker profile to turn off BT when not connected.
I also am probably a light user...the only thing that I do beyond normal phone use is to watch Netflix a slight bit a day and stream Spotify a bit.
I also don't play games except Words with friends.
No FB no locations, no nothing like that.
Wifi off and data off would be most helping when screen off
