So I decided to upgrade my cureent 8gb sd card for a 32gb one, I bought it from amazon (with all the ebay sd card fraud rumors I decided not to take any chances) and I had install it on my phone copied my 8gbs data unto the card and suddenly after disconnected after copying data for the second time, the phone does not want to read it. It only tells me sd card ready unmount on the notification bar I try to mount on the settings it but it doesn't work, I also tried formatting it but it won't do it either on the phone. Anyone please help I really have no idea why this happen, well I think because maybe because I didn't format the sd card prior installation?

Possibly a defect return it. Or u probably bought it off an individual seller from amazon. Are u talking about sd or microsd because i think micros go more than 50
Sent from my Arc using XDA premium App
i got mine from amazon for 54 USD. works fine. so, i'd day, yeah, return it if at all possible. its defective.
I only have 4 gigabyte SD card , no money to buy 32 gigabyte
Yup yu guys were right I contacted the seller and he gave me a full refund because he admitted he had receive a batch of defective micro sd cards smh, all I say to this is, do not buy things like memories on amazon or ebay, newegg is by far much more reliable. I went on the reviews on amazon for the defective product and saw users review it as bad for the same problem I was facing.
And Trust me I tried everything to get the card to work I tried the switch on the adapter and other alternatives like formatting programs ect, it has been a pain. To all of this I'm just glad I got my refund.

Yea it was too cheap to be true, I order one from newegg for 67 dollars with free 2 day shipping from shoprunner, it was more expensive but base on the product review which none were below 4 stars, the product seems legit and not counterfiet like my previous order from amazon, I also notice that the 32 gb sign on the card I purchased @ newegg was located on a different location than the counterfiet one.

As an experienced Sd user, I would like to point out that often the reader used with the pc to format/write data to the card is at fault. With the SDHC format, you need to have the appropiate SDHC reader, otherwise corruption will occur.

Well I tried with the sdformat 3.0 program for sdhc cards and it didn't work even when the switch was away from the lock side I even put tape so it doesn't slide and it didn't work it would tell me the card is disk write protected and the windows 7 formatter would tell me windows was unable to complete format.
And what reader do you recomend for micro sd card formatting? I have one coming tomorrow and don't want this to happen again or maybe it won't because this one hopefully won't be counterfiet

I had a Kingston 8GB Micro SD SDHC which worked perfectly on my Kaiser. But after losing it, I ended up buying a replacement on ebay and the transference speed is incredible slow. I copied 1.5 MB of pictures, and it took like 10 seconds; 3 songs took like 5 minutes, maybe more.
Do SDHC cards need to be formatted in a certain way, or do they need something to make it work faster? I want to be sure before sending it back for a refund.
Note. I used the card reader and the USB adapter, I haven't even put it in my Kaiser, so they problem can't be related to the phone.

Do you know what the class speed of the new card is? The class speed is the transfer rate of the card.
Class 2 = 2mb/sec
Class 4 = 4mb/sec
Class 6 = 6mb/sec
Thanks, but even if it were the slowest class, isn't 5 minutes for 3 songs, too slow? The songs were like 3mb each.
I would agree that yes it is slow. I also wouldn't set those transfer rates in stone.
Are you sure the card you bought is original ?
Because there are so many fake memory card on ebay and personaly i wouldn't trus ebay for buy memory card
maybe formating the card with an other cluster size helps...
ebay scammed me twice for memory, once with a sandisk cruzer and another with a sony pro duo. they rebrand oem ****ty ones with the casing and sell it for double the amount. be careful man. you might want to defrag it too, that will help tramendously. also, turn off encryption if youre on wm6.1 pro. encryption makes reading anything a drag.
Not to steal your thread, but didnt want 2 threads on similiar topics.
I'm looking to buy an 8GB micro sd card. What class should I buy: 2,4, or 6? Also what brand: Sandisk or Kingston?
Buy the fastest you can get but not if 6 is double the cost of 4. Brand doesn't matter in my opinion because Kingston and Sandsik are both good. I had a Kingston and now i have a Sandisk.

If you have warranty and not satisfied you can always change it, if not try reformating on a PC
Good luck,
Thanks for all your answers. I learned my lesson, never get a micro card from ebay, let alone from one of those Hong Kong sellers. I tried to reformat the card and it took hours. Contacting the seller took days and now they want me to send them the card so the can send me a replacement card instead of a refund.
Right now Newegg is selling a class 6 8GB micro card for $16.00: link but it's just the card and from A-DATA (?). I bought a Kingston card from newegg also ($20.00) and that one works great.
I know they are dirt cheap now, but why in the world would Softbank decide to only include a 2gb card? Its practically insulting - especially being in Japan when one gets used to having access to almost anything.

Not too likely. Its Japan. They will never write something official unless they are sure (99% of the time). Then again, its just like Softbank to try and make an extra buck or two by cutting corners. Im just happy Japan is finally getting a decent android phone - and lucky to have it coming to my carrier.
Funny thing is, docomo is releasing a 4" android device sometime too, funny that its only got 1.6 running tho.

Don't give Orange ideas!
Although knowing them they'll probably leave the SD card out completely!
a 4GB card in the one I got from CPW in the UK.
Yes, I thought CPW 4gb was stingey... I guess I should count myself lucky.
To be honest the CPW 4gb is a class 2 card anyway, which is a bit crap... so I put in the 8gb class 6 I already owned.
Anyone know what size T-Mobile are supplying? As others have said it doesn't really matter as I have an 8GB class 6 in my G1 just waiting to be swapped out on Tuesday (D-day for me).
2GB is fine, the memory cards of that size are peanuts and its better to have a memory card with the phone then non at all. I have a HTC desire and just ordered another one, i have not got any memory card with either
4Gb in T-mo, got mine yesterday
I suspect Orange will supply 4GB aswell like they did with my SE C905.
T-mobile supplied a 4GB card. The only problem is that it is Class 2. Doesn't matter at the moment but when the phone is eventually "rooted" a Class 6 or better card would be preferred.
Yeah they wont supply higher class cards with the phone, but I seen a 8GB transcend class 6 card for £15 on some sites so not too bad.

im using this one on my focus:

It's working for me on my Trophy as well.
Sandisk Class 4 32 GB. Did you try a reset after installing the sd card?
It doesn't boot into the phone by default so you will need to use the phones hardware reset instead of the software version. For trophy you hold volume up then power on.

Where did you buy the card ? If you got it from ebay or some questionable dealer to save some money, you could of gotten a fake one. Only buy a MicroSD card from a good known dealer or a good retailer.

It must be Class 2 although in the HD7 thread, they said class 4 one works too. It's something to do with random access or something.

NOTE: I haven't tried this myself.
I remember reading somewhere that the higher class cards have better constant read write speeds (good for transferring files), but they lack decent random access speeds. It's a trade off, being as it's used for the OS to run off of. Having higher Random Access is more important.
The Card in the Phone is a SanDisk 8GB Class 4 so Class 4 Do work with this phone.
I got the Card from Amazon.co.uk http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004LZ2MJM/ref=oss_product
If you change the SD card you are FORCED to use the Phones HARD reset or it will boot and complain the SD card is not working and turn off or Emergancy call are your only options.
I'm running Mango so not sure if others will run more into this issue after a short time once upgraded their phones. I have been back on the 8GB card for 1 week now and not a glitch in sight.
Unfortunatly I dont have access to a Nokia to reformat the card so i cant test its speed in a PC to check why its failing. But I believe the reasons are because of the low speed of the 4k write and read speed. At best I can do is send it to SanDisk and ask for a new one.
But no idea how that will go.
If I boot up on to tri colour screen with the 8GB I see
SD SANDISK 7580MB
If I put the 32GB I see
SD SANDISK something#CLASS0 if I remember correctly.
EDIT: You only see the above #CLASS0 before the SD has a secure Partition, once the Partition is on it it shows as:
SD SANDISK 30436MB
Partition Info-v211v413
So the main problem is It all apears to work nicly and then some time after it compleatly dies rebooting or not even booting and also claiming the SD car is not working. I cant do any thing diffrent other then put it in or not. So I'm unsure why some ppl have or claim to have it working. Duff card?
Maybe time to contact SANDISK
PS: the packaging it arrived in was the full retail SANDISK Red Packet with a access code to its Media manager software online so its 100% original as far as i can tell, aso has the square section on the back that some suggest only originals have, although the OEM 8GB Class 4 from in the phone originall does not have the square raised section so I dont think it matters
Did you compare it to the listed model # in my post above. There's one class 2/4 model that is confirmed to work while there's another class 2/4 model that they say to, "avoid."

so i'm trying to work out why im having issues as others say it works but my personal experiance says it works to start with and fails soon after on Mango.
Thanks any way
I'm on a genuine SDSDQM-032G-B35 too and had no issues (apart from phone sometimes going a little slow) before updating to Mango - now I can't even get through the initial setup of the phone without it rebooting or reporting a storage card problem.
I think Mango is demanding even more of the storage than Nodo, so previously-working cards may become useless after the update.
I guess there's a good reason why Microsoft want NAND memory in the phones rather than SD.

I don't think that will work. Is it SDHC? I have a 32 GB class 10 and I had to do a full format on my PC to get it to work with Android.
Didn't know there are 64gb microSD cards already...Still looking for 32gb with 17mb/sec write...$50 at NewEgg, but it lasts like couple of days before sold out..
The AT&T store told me 64G cards won't work. That's too bad. I'd like to get at least a 32G eventually.
Can one buy any 32G microSD card? I don't need anything fancy, it just needs to work.

I remember 4-5 years ago when 16gb just came out, many phones didn't support them, yet they worked together ok, it's just manufactures didn't test it, that's all...maybe it's same case here, unless it's not SDHC anymore.

Yes you can, but you might want to check compatibility for 32 GB cards. I know there is an issue with 32 GB class 10 cards. You have to do a full format on them in order for Android to see them.

I am pretty sure the 64 GB micro SD cards are not SDHC. Atleast I haven't see one that was.
64gb micro sd cards are SDXC. They've been proven to work on SGS2, Sensation, Droid Razr, Asus Transformer tab, even on a Nook and SGS1.
64gb cards are supported, just not officially.
As I understand it, there's no difference mechanically between SDHC and SDXC. The main difference is the file system they use, so the OS just needs to be compatible with the new file system and it should work. As the post above notes, android is already proven compatible but until someone tries one in a Nitro it's tough to say that it'll work for sure.
The other difference between SDHC and SDXC is support for speeds higher than class 10, which an SDHC host wouldn't be able to take advantage of.
I've seen a thread on here where someone used a 64gb card in the Nitro with success. It may have been the thread titled "Crappy SD card..."?

LOL! Great title ain't it? Sticks in the head for a while Here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417920
unfortunately, no one has yet to try the 64gb SDXC card just yet, most likely due to the astronomical price range. Below is one from amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobil...WIA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327458819&sr=8-1
Just posting to confirm that the 64gb SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC Class 6 (that I ordered from Amazon here for $55.00) works perfectly in the Nitro! Just pop it into the phone to format it. The phone will initially say it's damaged, let the phone format it, and then you're good to go! (I'd read that for other android phones, trying to format this card on the pc and then using it on the phone doesn't work that well, so I went straight for the phone formatting method). It shows 59.46 GB of space usable. I've filled it all up to test it, and it seems to work just fine! It's only class 6, so I only get about 6 to 8 MB/s write speeds, but I think that's plenty fast for the phone. There is also a class 10 version of this card for 25 bucks more on Amazon, but, for me, it didn't warrant the extra cost. Just letting you guys know in case you're digital hoarders like me! =)
I just got SanDisk Ultra 64GB class 10 micro SDXC .. it worked like charm.
first it says memory card error and need to format... just format and mount it ... it shows 60GB available space ...
HIT thanks if that helps !!
Something is fishy with our SD cards (both my wife and I), since they've somehow seemed to "go bad" about 2 weeks apart. We both have the S3 16GB and I bought two 32 GB SanDisk cards for our phones. Everything seemed fine until about 2 weeks ago when her card went out, then last night my card seems to have gone bad too. All the phone says is it's "safe to remove the card", can't access the card in any way. I currently can't find my adapter to test the micro card in my laptop, but I should at some point. Is anyone else experiencing anything like this with their SD cards?
I had a problem with my 64gb Sandisk card that went bad duing a rom flash. I have EASEUS Partition (can be downloaded free) installed on my PC and the partition on the SD card was missing. I reformated the partition using FAT32 and it has been fine now for over two weeks.
Just a note I now remove my SD card when I flash ROMs. I know it should be safe but it takes a few hours to rebuild 58gb.
This phone fried my 16gb card

I'm having the same problem with my 32gb sandisk class 4. it was working fine on my LTEVO but the moment I put it on in my GS3 the card went dead.
32GB Class 10 PNY formatted to FAT32 has been flawless for me...and I've used the same sd card in two previous devices (E4GT & Evo LTE)

Class 4 SanDisk and I bought them on Amazon. Wasn't a bulk type card without proper packaging either, it arrived in the mail packaged like what you would see in B&M's. In any case, I'm going to need to locate my adapter so I can attempt to format them.

I find it hard to believe that there is actually a "bad batch" of SD cards from SanDisk... I have a friend that also has an S3 (Verizon) that said his 32 GB card (not sure of the class) went bad as well. It would make more sense that the S3 is somehow making them bad or not recognizing them anymore. However, most of my assumptions may just be wishful thinking.
I had some problems that I think were more CM9/exFAT support related with a 64gb UHS-1 card. I used this to format it and it's been fine since
