So before I decided to flash unrevoked forever I was happily flashing through roms
without any worries..maybe flip flopping between the GB and Froyo without going above
And beyond a standard 2x wipe had something to do with this?
I go back to the 6.11 radio from 5.6 so I can flash the unrevoked forever. I flash the radio, get
rid of the pmb file and put URF in the root of SD and flash it in recovery,no error messages
and next I boot a custom splash, all is well..
I decide to go back to the new radio leak
I realize hours later that I can't send or receive txt or make calls;big red basically was
Rejecting my phone. After much searching I give up
I turned s back on and gave em a ring, basically I had to use the dialer to open up the radio and change like one #,then all was gravy with service. I'm now happily re rooted and running magnolia(i love this Rom)
Sorry it was so long winded but, what did I do wrong?
Did URF screw the radio?
Do I even need to use URF?
Was it the ROM switching?

To go to s-off all you do is flash the s-off file in clockwork, there is no other steps... Maybe I'm not understanding your problem.
But flashing radios can cause the problems you had.
Well from what I'm reading,after rooting with unrevoked I don't need URF...it says s-off
In hboot as is. My main concern is what could I have done to loose service to my phone.
Was it flashing the radio back and forth?
Was it from flashing too many roms and not wiping properly?
Was it because I ran Unrevoked Forever when I didn't need to?
I just want to make sure that something like this does not happen again

I would say maybe, but I also have noticed that after I flash a radio my phone won't connect to verizon. A couple of Airplane Toggles here and there kicks it back up....I always thought it was these CM7 nightlys
Or maybe I have a different problem all together and I'm just adding to the mess!
What I'm wondering is,do I even need to run unrevoked forever if I ran unrevoked? It says s-off in the bootloader. Is it possible that its a bug in URF¿
Unrevoked is supposed to be a one step program, roots the phone and ads s-off so there is no reason to run Unrevoked Forever and doing so could possibly mess up your phone. The instructions for Unrevoked were very clear about this when I used it last. And yes flashing radios can result in your phone not working thats why they usually come with a discalimer, flash at your own risk.
Might be noobish advice, but have you tried *228?

What do you think it would take to create a rooted PC36IMG with the radios and stuff rooted. Even if there is a newer rev early next week, it would be great to get the process lined up.
Whitslack hasn't been on in a while, I think had a solid base line for recovery. I still use his images / methods to recovery from a total face plant.

There's an OMJ rom with the radios included. You can install that and then make a nandroid backup for reverting later on.

Anyone know of a stock froyo PC36IMG for the evo. when i applied the 1.47 pc36img it messed mine up somehow and i cant get usb to work so i cant root my phone or charge it when its on. Need my phone rooted to fix the usb and use adb but until theres a new RUU PC36img im stuck. Tried the froyo update to see if that would help but now my phone just reboots every 30 sec so i have no phone.
If i just had usb
alrighty so here it is the ota is coming and i silly as i may be rooted like 3-4 days ago. i didnt take the time to s-off just got the custom recovery updated the radio to 2.05 and downloaded sky raider vanilla. hboot is .79.

I have attached the stock recovery that needs to be flashed from the HBOOT.
It is my understanding however, that you need to downgrade to the .77 HBOOT, 1.xx radio AND 2.1 system for the update to notify you, give you the option to download, and install successfully. However, I am a few drinks into my night.
If you choose to follow that path. I suggest you read this

your my hero bud, my freaking hero stock recovery got s-off i think thats all i need to recieve the ota and do it yea?
thnx
See, from this point, I'm not sure if you need the .77 HBOOT 1.xx Radio and 2.1build-1 on your phone (I'm really questioning it, as I beleive I read in a few places that you do, but I'm not sure at this point in the evening). I don't think the Skyraider rom will get a notification when the update is available. I'd say if you don't get a notification for the update when everyone else in the free world is, then you may have to.
As long as you have S-OFF, it doesn't matter either way, you have complete control for the rest of your phone's life. Whatever you do, don't turn it back on lol.
hmmm well if it doesnt show up guess my next set of questions is how to get back to stock everything

I too am awaiting the OTA update and was concerned. My phone is running 2.1 update 1 and is rooted. Will this prevent me from receiving the OTA update? If so what steps do I need to take to make sure I get the update then? Also should I put on unrevoked forever? If I do so will I need to do anything other than that to still receive the OTA update and keep root access?

Other than the root, did you modify anything else to your phone?
If not, your still with the .77 HBOOT, 1.xx baseband, and 2.1update-1 system?
Add unrevoked forever to remove s-off, then flash the stock recovery back to your phone. Your goal here is to have S-Off
in order to get the OTA (from my understanding) you need the stock recovery, do a little search I have all the faith in the world that you will find what you are looking for. you want to run unrevoked forever BEFORE you accept the OTA2.2, so this is your steps, root, run unrevoked forever getting S-OFF, find the file for the stock recovery, PB..IMG file, flash that in hboot, this will set u back to stock 2.1 update1, stock radio, stock recovery, but still have S-OFF to regain root, after the OTA comes.
So if I have stock everything, and have hboot .79 will I still get the OTA I don't see why not...

Currently the only thing I have done was rooted and removed CityID and but have not changed the radio or anything else. I have installed Unrevoked forever now. So do I still need to flash stock recovery even though I haven't changed the boot files or radio files at all?
Yes from what I've read you HAVE to have the stock recovery. what is your HBOOT once u get stock recovery?

My HBOOT is 0.79.0000
Radio 1.00.03.04.06
Any input would be helpful as to whether I will get OTA or do I need to do something.
once in hboot, go to recovery, if you have clockwork you wont get it i dont think, if you get a red triangle you have stock recovery and you are good to go.

Yes, install unrevoked forever. The fact that you are rooted will not affect the ability of your upgrade, it is the lack of the stock recovery that will halt you.
Unrevoked forever will allow you to flash ANY zip file you want to the phone (namely a zip that has su and Superuser.apk) and will allow you to regain root in the event that it is ever lost due to an OTA or user error.
S-OFF is a beautiful thing.
I would love to take my phone to Verizon right now with a manufactured problem, let him see the Superuser, official 2.2 system and then stock recovery. Could be priceless!
My phone is currently running HBOOT-0.76.2000.
Is there anyway for me to upgrade it to the latest HBOOT without losing root?
Basically should I want to unroot for repairs (I have a dead pixel) I want to rule out I was not rooted at all.

You can do it without losing root, but I wouldnt bother until ur taking ur phone in. You could go find the pc36img from part 2 of regaw's froyo root method, and put it on ur sdcard, then reboot to bootloader and let it do its thing. It will spit you back out into stock rooted froyo though, and put you back on an older amon ra recovery. I would just wait and run an RUU when the time comes.
Hey... I think this thing makes phone calls too!
Ok, I rooted with unrevoked a long time ago. Broke my screen and need to unroot. I followed the unroot unrevoked guide as closely as I could, but the rom in the link was not found. So I downloaded a different ruu.zip of factory rom, don't ask me which one, because I can't find the link anymore, but currently here is where I stand. Hboot kept saying that the img was older or something, and wouldn't flash. So I did a stupid thing and pushed the zip with clockwork. So now I'm running s-on with clockwork recovery and a stock unrooted rom. So, I tried the next thing, downloaded an 3.7 ruu .exe and tried to run that from windows, but it gives me an hboot usb connection error f*ucking **** 1 thing after another.
This is the unrooting guide I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141
I got s-on, and tried that pc36img but it wouldn't work, originally. Before I went on to screw things up.
I've been at this for hours, something that should have taken 10 minutes if I wasn't an idiot, or bad links, or what ever. Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction, of what to do here, preferably not to a 2 year old thread with outdated links? What should I do?`
A List of android stock RUU zips with radio, pri, recovery all in one would be great, but I give up on trying to find that, its buried or does not exist.
I found this list http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Supersonic/ROMs but its just the rom not everything.
So here is where my phone stands
S-ON
Hboot .97
Clockwork recovery 2.5.0.7<<<<<<
Android version 2.2.2
Build number 4.54
PRI 1.90_003
Angrychair420 here is a stock RUU that I know is good you should be able to run the RUU from windows.
http://geekfor.me/evo/ruu/evo_ruu_1326511/
thanks, that says its img version 1.32.651.1, assume thats safe to use. I assume thats andoid 3.26 which is what came on my phone. Ugh I'm in over my head. Why did my screen have to break, i was totally happy with CM7 and everything the way it was.
what if I wipe my data and caches, remove SD card, put on a PC36IMG.zip and boot the phone into hboot, will it still give me the older version error?
edit: the link you gave me gives me the same error as the other ruu.exe:
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your android phone
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again
Possibly but I did have to return mine for repair and I know that using it as a .exe file trough windows I had no problem. Not sure about making it into a PC36IMG.zip file though I have not tried it that way.

It might. There are 3 PC36IMG files in the first "My Links" link in my signature. You can try them in order if you'd like, if you get the "main version is older" message, but if the first two don't work, the last one definitely will.
Thanks cpt, about to give them a try. Sigh man, this is frustratingly harder than rooting :-D If it was as easy as doing the s-on and copy the pc36img.zip to the root of sd and booting into hboot and DONE, I would of been having a much better day.

yes, they are basically the same method I used in my OP from xda forums.
On to captain_throwbacks second ruu.
Just to make sure, this all isn't in vain, and make you all hate me, after applying one of these successfully, my recovery should go back to factory and no longer be clockwork, right? or wrong, because I'm starting to think I am. But won't taking your device in for service with clockwork be a dead giveaway that it was rooted.
I think I'm just going to go get a new phone for a $100 deductible at this point. and replace the screen my self on my old one and keep it as a backup/test device. Thanks for all the help, but I am surrendering :-D hopefully I can reroot this thing again with unrevoked, since my hboot is still .97 and fix the screen my self.
It generally doesn't matter if its rooted. I've never unrooted since launch day. And I've had 3 screen replacements, 3 speaker rwolacements , a bezel replaced, and camera lens cover replaced (last time, I dropped it off with ICS), about to go get my 4th screen (just cracked it again lol).
Sorry for your experience/frustration.

well last stupid question i promise, since i still have clockwork isntalled, i can just restore my CM7 backup, but how do i get s-off back, re unrevoked it i assume?
If your'e worried about the warranty thing, just flash a stock rooted rom, or use a phone repair service. i see three or four repair places on craigslist (granted, that you live in a large city).
yeah no worries. Got it back to S-OFF, and CM7 back on it, just going to fix the screen my self, ordered one for $15.
thread can be locked, deleted, or what ever.
Seriously. Dude, isn't there a sprint store near you?. Just take it in. Put a stockish rom on it if you're that worried about it. They should replace it for free.
sent from AOKP heaven
Hello everyone, I'm running into a bit of a problem here with my sister's HTC EVO 4G.
You see her phone is a remanufactured replacement model from Sprint, and naturally it has a few minor problems with it. She wasn't thrilled with the battery life, so I rooted and flashed CM7.1 on her phone. She liked the rom and liked the extra battery life after I did some tweaking. Two Months later, for some odd reason, her phone will not connect to the data network at all. I flashed CM 7.2, same problem. Contacted sprint, where they refreshed the signal to the phone, no luck. So I concluded that it was a hardware error. Problem is, Sprint won't work on the phone without the Stock Sense Rom installed. I thought: "No big deal, I'll just flash it back to the stock sense rom" right? WRONG.
Never have I ever been so enraged by a cellphone. No matter what I do, no matter what I try, this phone absolutely REFUSES to go back to the stock rom. I've tried flashing several PC36IMG.zip files from the sdcard in HBOOT, and I have also tried several RUU updates from my PC while having the phone in Fastboot USB mode.
Quick Info:
Phone: HTC EVO 4G
Baseband: 2.15.00.12.19
HBOOT: 2.18.0001
Bootloader = Unlocked
Security = ON (S-ON)
Trying to flash PC36IMG.zip from HBOOT results in the phone loading the zip (with the little vertical progress bar on the side) and after loading completely, it just goes on it's merry way, checking for any other zip files and then HBOOT loads normally.
Running the RUU .exe files on my computer goes smoothly right up until somewhere in the update progress I get Error 155 (Unknown Error).
Now, it's my understanding that I don't need S-OFF to go back to the stock Sense rom, but I figured I should try to get S-OFF anyways. So I downloaded unrevoked and try to apply it from CWM, and it fails stating that it's not compatible with my radio version. Funny thing is, in all the radio lists for the HTC EVO 4G, I don't see 2.15.00.12.19 anywhere. In fact, 2.15.00.08.08 seems to be the newest one, unless I'm reading the lists wrong.
Either way I'm completely stuck here, and now I have a whining teenage sister screaming at me because she doesn't have a phone on a friday night. Go Figure.. Please guys, I know I'm a noobie here, but do me a solid. Please help me out, I'm stuck, frustrated, and I'm getting to the point where it's time to crack open a beer or 3 and say "f**k it".
Thanks in advance,
Alcolawl

Does it matter which RUU version I download? (I've been extracting the rom.zips from the RUU's temporary files). I have the most current one on my computer named: "RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.67.651.3_Radio_2.15.00.12.19_NV_2.33_release_234563_signed". I usually take the Rom from that, rename it PC36IMG.zip, place it on a freshly formatted sdcard, and reboot into bootloader and hope for the best.
well, if you want the bootloader to be returned to factory stock settings then you can follow the guide below, BUT if you just want to UN ROOT, just copy a stock rom like the one you named, and flash it thru RECOVERY menu (install zip from sd card), dont install it from the bootloader (white screen)

Sounds easy enough. While messing around and waiting for Dominos to arrive, I decided to flash MikG (first time doing so, so I wasn't sure what to expect). Lo and Behold, I updated the PRL and Data Profile, and her Data works again. She also likes how Sense looks more so than CM7. Aesthetics > Functionality in her book I guess. If it comes down to having to bring the phone to the Sprint store, I'll try flashing the image through Recovery instead of Hboot.
Thanks for the help man, really appreciate it.
