hey all, I stopped in at wal-mart today looking for nothing in particular, and I came across a travel charger for usb device that runs off one AA battery. I am not sure how much of a charge one would get out of one battery, but it was only $10 so I am not too worried if it turns out to be not all that great. Just thought I would let you all know it existed, for those who might have been planing to build the minty charger seen on an online tutorial.
I'm considering trying this:
OPTI-UPS SCS001 Solar Panel Charger for Mobil PHONES, MP3/MP4,CD PLAYER, CAMERA, PDA, W/FLASHLIGHT $51.60
Though it's 1100mAh Lithium Battery is less than what most of our phones have, at least it will provide more juice than an AA along and provides a solar panel to slowy recharge.
The Nitro battery is model number BL-49kh. Not many cheap OEM options out there right now, but an "official" spare can be purchased from AT&T store:

Here's a few charger options...

Car Chargers
Motorola Vehicle Rapid Charger
Kensington HIGH Current car charger
Hybrid Chargers
Boxwave AC/Car/Airplane USB Charger

Alright, it seems the Ebay seller "smarthan" has some good deals on batteries and standalone battery chargers.

Well Tokie, for your car, u can use something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Energizer-Universal-Car-Charger-Pc-2ca/dp/B004YZI1T4
One of the ports will have a 1.5amp output and will suffice to charge your battery quickly.
And if you have a tablet or wanna go ultra crazy in charging your battery n burning it U can use something like this:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0364269
That one has a 2.1amp output as well, enough power to burn a hole in your phone's battery LOL!!

ill let youknow once it comes in lol 2.1amps haha will my incuerence cover that in case of a fire
I use 2.1 amp in the car and it charges pretty fast even while streaming spotify or radio through bluetooth with screen off. It helps to get through a day of heavy usage without swapping a baterry.

For those of you who are getting an external battery charger, will you let me know if it manages to charge the batteries to 100%? I currently use a universal battery charger, which worked great for my other phone batteries (would charge them quickly and fully, so when I popped them into my phone, it showed 100%), but for whatever reason, when I try to externally charge my Nitro's battery, no matter how long I leave it or put it back on the charger, it will only reach 88% or so. Then I have to fill up the rest by putting the battery in the phone and charging through USB. I know it's not my battery (I have two, and they both do it), so I'm just curious if other external battery chargers might be better. Let me know if it works for you! If it does I'll get whatever kind you have. I'd be super grateful, thanks!
I'm getting a legit LG battery charger specifically for the nitro. It'll take me about 2 weeks to get it (coming from LG itself in Korea) but when it gets here I'll try it n will let u know how it goes.

Btw Itiskonrad, where did you get your batteries from? Is it from that ebay seller or you got it from somewhere else? Just curious, cuz I've been searching everywhere, but nobody else sells it but that guy.

I ordered 1 extra battery AND the battery/batterycharger/cable from the ebay seller I mentioned earlier.
The batteries seem legit, they last just as long and have identical plastic casings. However, the two batteries I bought from ebay have a different sticker/label on them. They do not have the "FCC" markings on them or any other american legalese on them.
As far as the charger goes, it works great. I carry a battery in my wallet, one in the phone, and one in my backpack. I really like the peace of mind!
I also got mine from that Ebay seller. I'm confident it's legit. The build is identical, and it maintains charge and behaves exactly the same as the one that came with my phone. It's just probably the battery for the Asian Optimus lte, hence no fcc and different labeling. I'm not worried, and I'm pretty careful about batteries.
@red solo cup, do you know if the charger manages to bring the battery to 100%, ie, when you pop it in the phone and turn it on, do the battery stats actually say 100? My current charger brings it to around 90%, which is not bad, but if I'm going to buy another charger, I'd like it to max out the battery completely =) Thanks!
I have not checked Battery Monitor Widget immediately after putting in the battery, so I cannot absolutely confirm that the battery charges to 100%. However, I have noticed that the battery in the notification area was completely full, including the little "nub" on the left of it.
I will check this out when I get back from work tonight.
If the nub's full, it's at least at 95% I'm pretty sure.
Damn, I don't mind getting it from him, but he posted that it will take almost 20 days to a month for the item to get to me! That's frigging much too long for shipping something overseas. Things I get in China or HK doesn't even go beyond 2 weeks the longest.

I checked and the LG charger does indeed charge the battery up to 100%
@aquariuz: I really cannot recall how long shipping took as I ordered the battery on the 15, and the battery+charger on the 21st. I was away for the holidays, but by the time I got back to my place on the 28th they were both in my mailbox.
You're the best! Thanks a bunch! Ordering mine ASAP! =)
24v input
Has anyone found any dual USB (2.1a and 1a) with 12 - 24v input? I run crane and sadly in most of our cranes the Cig Lighter socket is running 24v.
I have a few 12 - 24v input single USB chargers with 1amp out but.. I'd love to find a dual. I have to run my speakers and charge my phone or mp3/RADIO -- seeing as how Optimus doesn't have a FM tuner

I found this on amazon. The specifications specifically state: "Input: 12-24V DC; Output: 5.0V DC 2.1Amp" Plus it is only 5.99+free shipping.
I have this and the specs on kensington's website state "Input: 10V-18VDC, Output (30pin/USB): 5VDC-3100mA.", So I assume that will not work.
so if i have to buy a car charger, what is the MAX specs i can use for the LG OPTIMUS LTE?
Hey guys, I do not know a whole lot about batteries, was just wondering I bought 2 2000 mah cheap batteries that came with a cheap wall charger for charging. I was wondering (I do not think it will) but if I put the 1750 mah factory battery to charge I assume I would do no damage to the battery. Thanks Guys.
If they did their job right, you should be fine. The difference should only be in capacity of the batterys. I wouldnt use any not oem stuff though.
I can either get a replacement battery, 2 of them + a charger for $25. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Anker-1900mA...ccessories&hash=item4ab3e5b7e8#ht_2690wt_1252
Or an external very portable battery 2600mAh for $25
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Anker-Colorf...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item7916fc4474
Or external battery (not as portable) 3600mAh for $25.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Anker-Extern...ccessories&hash=item4cfeea48ef#ht_6381wt_1361
All the same price. I'm thinking of getting the colorful anker battery. I could charge the phone while both are in my pocket. Since it's more than one charge, I don't have to worry since I can easily charge the battery again.
Or I can get a single Anker battery for $18.

What do you guys think?
I recommend the 2 Anker batteries with charger because that's what I have and the batteries last the same or longer than stock. Also I always have a extra battery In my pocket and a extra at home.

I can't use the charger as an external battery, can I? Like plug my phone into the charger via USB with the battery in the charger, and charge without AC connection?
@OP, any specific reason to not include the Samsung 2000mah battery+cover in that list? Because that is certainly what I would recommend.

I agree 100%. It's the battery they should have included as standard, but i'd reckon the marketing department wanted the lesser capacity battery so they could say how thin the phone is.
Any way, i got a couple of generic batteries off ebay, and my god they were awful to use. Maybe it was my experience, but the phone would get so warm using them and they would drain in less time than the genuine battery even though they were the same capacity.
Maybe it's just my experience, but i'd go genuine from now on based on what happened to me.
Hearing a lot of positive feedback for the anker battery... Might try it myself...
get the anker or that first link,i brought me another samsung battery and a wall charger and its great, use a battery a day and charge the flat one when you swap them over, its worth it,glad i did it.

i am new here, just find anker astro3 10000mah external battery it looks amazing and only $49.99
could anyone give some reviews?
much thanks
I use the Samsung 2000 mah battery and I also have a 1900 mah Anker as a spare in my pocket.
I just carry a small piece of cardboard with the Anker battery so it can sit tightly in the extended 2000 mah case
Both batteries are fine but I prefer the Samsung one.
I have two anker batteries that I rotate with stock battery. I really like having an external charger and being able to charge batteries indepenantly. Very impressed with the anker brand and the affordable price. Just my 2c

http://www.amazon.com/Anker-10000mAh-External-Battery-Charger/dp/B005NGKR54/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1334312280&sr=1-3
WOW,10000mAh huge capacity
Anker
Recommend anker, 1 year of user.
The Amazon reviews of the Astro3 external USB backup battery are impressive. Reports of people charging a phone and an iPad2 (a greedy device if ever there was one), charging two devices while watching video on one, etc. Very tempting for the price, it sounds like just the thing for a cross-country plane flight.
Really interested in personal reports here....
i am rocking this anker. charges almost all my devices, not just my phone. if anyone buys it of amazon please pm me so i can send anker referrals
Are the chinese oem batteries truly oem?

This.
If that is not an option, I would go for the two Anker plus charger
I'm tempted to finally pickup the Anker 10000. Can anyone tell me if it can be CHARGED via USB? or can it only be charged from a wall?
Hi,
Initially i was thinking about getting a bigger 3000+mah battery or something but i've realized that i like the form factory of the GNex so i won't go for it.
Now i have 2 batteries the 2100mah and the original one that came with Verizon GNex.
I have looking for a external battery charger and found this
Has anyone here tried these, they seem to be the cheapest way to make use of both batteries.
Also the current wall charger i have reads the following:
input: 0.4A
Output: 5.3V=2.0A
Is the ebay charger in the above link close to the above specs as i don't know what they actually mean
Thanks in advance
I can't answer your first question but I can answer your second one.
Basically, your current charger is capable of charging the spare battery at a faster rate than the eBay charger.
The "charging rate" of 2.0A/2000mA versus the eBay charger's 0.8A/800mA.
When I'm looking for chargers, I prefer chargers that have an output of 1.0A/1000mA or greater so that my battery or phone is charged faster.
800mA is better than average. I'd find that acceptable.
I find most chargers have an output of 500mA. As a comparison, the OEM Samsung USB wall charger has an output of 1.0A/1000mA.
EDIT: In case anyone's worried about blowing up their battery using a charger with a higher amperage output then OEM, here's some reading material... bit.ly/xl2NPI
The only downside to using anything over 1.0A is that it may shorten the lifespan of your battery (the higher the amperage, the faster the charge, but it also comes with more heat, and more heat is bad for your battery).
What kind of wall charger are you using?
I bought a Cellet dock/charger. It can charge the phone and an extra battery at the same time. I mostly use it to only charge an extra battery. Sometimes it takes 4+ hours to charge a battery that is connected in the extra battery slot. WTF??? 4+ Hours?

I'm just using the OEM Samsung USB wall charger that came with my phone. It's sometimes listed as a "travel" wall charger. It has an output of 1.0A.
What's the output of your Cellet adapter (i.e. what you plug into the wall)? I'm pretty sure it has an output of 1.0A from what I've read.
Have you tried one of these?....IMO its better than carrying a couple of batteries around.

I am using the official HP touchpad charger, they are monstrous.
It charges the 2100mah battery from being dead to 100% with sync on in 1.5 hrs.
4+ hrs. is too long.
You can get on wallmart here or on ebay.
I haven't been this lucky with other chargers i've bought on ebay.

Ya i like these, but i would have to carry a cable and a battery at the same time, plus i don't have a tablet or any other gadget that uses microUSB charging.
On another note do these come with 2A charging instead of 1A??
if yes than i might just pick one up.
Alternative?
I've recently purchased this official charger. Does the job perfectly fine and is very small and sleek
