Double notifications - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having issues with double notifications? I'm running Senseless Revolution and can't seem to turn off the stock messaging notifications. I've gone through all the settings numerous times in the stock app and nothing is checked
Originally I thought it might have something to do with handscent, but uninstalled and reinstalled..still got the double posts. Same with chomp. From everything I've read you can't uninstall or freeze the stock messaging app so I've got no idea what else to try.
Any suggestions??!! thx

Go into messages, menu, settings, and you can do it in there. Just uncheck notifications and so on.

I've already gone through and unchecked everything as I stated above...still getting the double notifications

Notification problem: tap on new mail doesn't do anything

Hi,
I've noticed that when I get new mail, I get the little mail icon at the top of the screen. I tap and get the notification manager. When I tap on the new mail item, nothing happens. It's just an annoyance because normally I wouldn't bother and just go straight to the inbox, but jas anyone else come across and know of a solution please?
Cheers,
Pete
Hi there,
Just wanting to check in to see if anyone is having this problem.
To recap, when I tap on the notification area and get the list of notifications, if I tap on ANY notification (whether mail, SMS or reminder) nothing happens. All I can do is exit from the notification manager or dismiss all.
Anyone else seeing this please?
Thanks,
Pete
thats how it is with the stock rom im pretty sure...if you download something called the "topaz notification" it will enable you to do what ur trying to plus go directly to more specific settings directly from the notification manager...i used it on stock verizon...try it out...hit the thanks if it works
Thanks, I'll have a search and try it out

Hi mwrood,
Tried that patch and it didn't work, sorry, back to square one.

Notification problem - alarms as well
I have a similar issue - if I have an Alarm reminder and go to the Notification Screen, I can't select it - all I can do is dismiss it (actually dismiss all) and I can't see what the reminder was....any ideas out there?
same problem
I have the same problem and will be very gratefull if someone has a solution.
Also had that problem. I just figured it was caused by one of the programs I had installed. After removing several programs and resetting the device to default status, I still had the problem. So I decided it was time for a hard reset. That solved my problem. Drastic solution I admit, but it fixed the problem
I have the same problem with new messages and missed calls.
They wont be shown when I tap on it on the notification manager...
Just pinging this thread again to see if anyone might have ideas how to resolve this without a hard reset...

[Q] System Vibration Issue

ATT Galaxy S3, Stock ROM (4.1.1) with root.
I can't get vibration to work for notifications in non-stock apps (mainly trying to get it to work in messaging app: go sms).
In sound, I have 'sound and vibration' checked, but the test notification tool in go sms is reporting that "system vibration is off" and when running the test, it reports "Has turned on vibrate in silent mode"
I have tried putting the phone into 'vibrate' mode and 'mute' mode and comparing the settings, and from everything I see, the vibration settings seem to be correct in my system settings, but I still can't seem to get notifications to vibrate.

Try to wipe cache and davlik and fix permissions. It has worked for me before and other times not when this happened. Can't hurt to try it

Wiped the cache from recovery (didn't see an option for davlik, guessing that's for a custom recovery, and not stock?), still no vibration when using Go SMS, and starting to think (after more digging on the net) that it may be an issue with Go SMS, rather than the Galaxy S3.
I may revert back to using stock messaging for the time being (as i'm not getting as many group texts as I was when I started using go sms for that feature) until I can get this figured out or Go SMS fixes the issue if it's something wrong with the app.
Working now
I'm not sure what happened, but this morning I got a text and vibration worked though go SMS. I don't remember seeing an update come in for it, but everything is working as expected now. Woo~

I have inverse issue. I am unable to turn OFF the vibration. Permissions work all over the system except the SMS notification in Go SMS. It won't stop vibrating in any mode and in any case. I have tried all apps but unable to fix it.

At this point, I'm back to using the stock messaging app. After the upgrade to 4.2 or 4.3 (can't remember which) android has native support for group messaging, which was the only reason I was using GoSMS in the first place. I don't know that I can be much more help to you, unfortunately

Hay... I was able to fix this. I actually had inverse issue. I was unable to turn OFF vibration in Go SMS notification. It must vibrate no matter what phone status is.
It is being set here in Go SMS settings > Advanced (tab) > Notification Settings > Default Notification Settings > and look for Vibrate. Check or uncheck it according to your desire.

Were you able to fix it the way I did?

Push notifications

I have the most annoying issue with my non rooted stock tmobile note 3. I disable notifications within games and apps and such plus I also go to app info and uncheck the box "show notifications" but some how they still keep coming back!! Then I look in app info and the "show notifications" is checked again it's like it will only save those settings for awhile. I am wondering is it because I moved some apps to the SD card and those settings don't save? It's a bad situation cause I have to keep my vibration and ringer off otherwise it will wake me up at night! Is it after I update an app that the settings go back to default? Is it an android OS issue or a note 3 issue? I also used every antivirus and spam checker app out there and comes back clean. Anyone else have this issue?
Root it like a man.
I see no use in rooting I don't mind touch wiz besides even if I did root it still doesn't solve my push notification holding the settings problem

Notifications

Hi.
Have searched around a while for this now, but cant find a answer.
I have a stock HTC one m8, and i cannot seem to get notification on Instagram to work. I have tried facroty reset, cache delete, re-installing the instagram app and so on, but nothing is working. This is getting pretty annoying.
Anyone here who has experienced the same issue? Or better, know a way to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
There's a notification setting inside the Instagram app, and also have you tried to long press the app and drag it into the "info" spot, and make sure notifications are checked in the system. Other than that there's no reason it shouldn't show as long as you receive other notifications.

[Q] How to turn off Flipboard notifications?

How do you turn off Flipboard notifications? I'm tired of this app spamming me every day, I've tried going into the app going to profile, hitting the settings icon and then going to Push Notifications and unchecking all of the boxes but its still sending me the notifications!
Thanks.
Block it with debloater
Goto tablet settings, apps, find flipboard and turn off notifications, simple ☺

That's the problem, I use it daily, just hate the notifications. I have everything unchecked in settings and still they notify me. Ugh.
If the app is running in background you still get notifications, even with it disabled in settings, only way to stop it is to open recent apps and clear flipboard once youve stopped using it, this seems to happen with alot of apps, i get the same thing with news republic app

Android allowing notifications
The Blocking Mode on Galaxy devices lets you disable the entire notifications on your device, But how to disable notifications on Android for selected apps? follow the instruction to specify which application is allowed to show notifications on the status bar:
1. Open Settings and go to Application Manager (or Apps on some devices)
2. Now you should see the list of installed applications on your device
3. Tap the application you would like to disable notifications
4. Make sure "Show Notifications" is not checked
androidwidgetcenter.com/android-tips/how-to-disable-notifications-on-android-for-selected-apps/
I also cleared data and signed out - some who still use FB may not want to go this far.
I'm so proud of myself. Some months ago, I started searching the Internet to find out how to end those annoying Flipboard notifications. Today, I was out searching, again. Somehow, I accidentally discovered the answer. And you'll flip when you read my solution! (Definitely, no pun intended. )
To disable Flipboard:
1. Go to your notifications.
2. Find a recent Flipboard notification item and touch and hold the notification item.
This action should take you directly to the app's notifications settings. At the very top is the option to disable Flipboard's notifications.
This worked in my Sansung Galaxy S7, but I see no reason it shouldn't work for other devices/users who are disgusted with the annoyance.
