Can someone post a link to a guide?
I see people reporting mA use per hour and tried looking for a guide to calibrate & gauge my battery's performance precisely.
TIA.

I can't provide a link to a guide, and i would definitely be interested in seeing how the experts do this fine grained analysis.
What i do know is that from my questions in the same area, many people make reference to "Current Widget" (free from the market), which can log mA to a file at defined intervals (default is 60 seconds). I'm still pretty new to this area, so can't delve into further details - I only installed it on Saturday
hope this is of some help until other give a more in depth reply on toolsets / features / use.

Hello all..
I'm a new HTC Diamond user, and after a 2-3 days of installing and removing all kind of roms i decided that someone should post a thread with the fastest ROMS for diamond.
as we know the HTC Diamond suffer from low battery and low ram...
i saw alot of new topid that users request fast roms...
so for me and other users (as i read in this forum) that want their phone to work fast, I'm making this thread.
So if you are looking to the fastest Rom with low RAM/Memory consuption and good battery life... you are in the right place!
so i'm starting a new table of a very fast roms..
any help from you users will be very greatful!
So this is the list so far..
All data taken from the actual thread od the roms creators..
Please get a look on the attach image Roms.gif
new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages, so i'm unable to show it in this post only to attach i.
Any help with DATA or other good roms will be more then welcome!
Please help us the new ones to start easly!
btw! anyone who need help with installin groms please P.M me
I have original ROM with TOuchFlo3D disabled, running some today screen plugins (Date, East Today Launcher, EffComm, Device Lock)
WM 6.1
Free memory: 107 Mb
Free RAM after Boot-up: 44%
Battery drain after Boot-up: 63 mA
Free RAM after Standby Wake-up: 45%
Battery drain after Standby Wake-up:33 mA
All radios turned off (cell, gps, wifi, bluetooth).
Switch on when needed (via Today plugin EffComm)
donsalari's WM 6.1 SuperLite Titanium Version Two seems very interesting. I'd like to try it out, but I don't like installing all apps again.

can you post a link to this ROM that you are using?
i will check it out and add it to the list
btw. Thanks for the info!
I'm using the SBS6.5S ROM... and i got to say...
It's really 48-50% RAM
but when i open apps the RAM goes to 70-80 even 90 and when i close it it's go back to 50%..
i will check more to give a better review
I'd have to go with Atlas, it feels very fast.

Well, actually it is the factory default rom, that was already inside my phone when i bought it.
It is normal when RAM goes up while using applications but during standby and after wakeup is the value that counts. I would definitley install a rom which has RAM usage like 35-36 %.
In your updates about new ROMs, it would be great when you post also "Current Battery Drain Value" - the bigger the value is, the faster battery will empty.
In my today screen there is instead of the original battery logo 3 values which show battery PERCENTAGE, Battery Drain Value in mA, and battery TEMPERATURE.

Fastest rom???
You write in your title: "The Fastest Rom List". But whre is a benchmark of speed??? I just see ROM and RAM... that has nothing to do with speed.
A while ago there was a poster, he did "real" benchmarking... but i dont understand this thread.
Well.. i looked on those beanchmarks...but that didn't help me.
i'm only in my start but i think that the more Free Ram/Memory you have the more faster is your device?
if i'm wrong please tell me..
As the title says.
I am interested in your opinions.
Which one is the best for battery life?
Thanx
There isn't one in particular as it depends on usage and the apps installed

Hi folks,
Just a thought,
Is there a clear view on where real battery drain occurs, by this I mean (for example):
o Radio;
o Kernel;
o Keep Alive Apps / General Health Apps / Background Apps.
Incompatibility between components, e.g. Radio and ROM fight over timing or API issues or .....
Like dzontra11 I'm interesterested in having a phone (good battery life like my old 6210 or 6310i) and occasional Game Use with Internet Browsing (including Gmail sync). WIFI in the flat (90%) and a little 3G around and about.
So I guess I'm asking which combos work best for general use and still be usable. My phone (won't say which radio/ROM combo ATM) informed me earlier that the battery was low, which it was. The sodding phone turned off 2 secs later @ 17%.
In my past life I looked at a lot of system performance issues (usually the classic CPU, I/O & Memory). So I'm guessing where are the current thoughts on this are by people that know in detail.
Regards
Colin
Best I have had to date is DeFroST (all versions seem to be close in usage) with juice ultimate looking after things, gets me almost 2 days with moderate usage.
Hello xda members, i was hoping to get some questions resolved on this battery tweak.
I just installed a no havs kernal along with a ported version of collins battery tweak for my non-sense rom.
My question is how do i configure it , to make sure its on.
i know from myns original colling mod post i should use like 2 commands
pidof batt.sh , on myns post it says i should have a number pop up after entering this assure that the tweak is working --- i enter this and i the following numbers 3293 2041
the next one that i used is batt-cfg
and then i get the menu posted on myns post this shows the script it working.
my question is how exactly do you know if the collins battery mod is running? should i do anything with the menu that i get when i enter batt-cfg or it already running?
thanks in advance
Collin's battery tweak is pretty much a script that clocks down your processor depending on your battery level, at least thats what it does at the core, I'm not sure if Myn's version has all of the CollinPH teaks that he did on his platform.
I unfortunately had no luck with the tweak, the ksoft process kept skyrocketing on me, and I'm not an expert with kernel - hardware processes, so I don't have the slightest clue on how to go about debugging this. (Although, if I had to guess, its a recursion issue with the script changing the last battery level variable and then testing it again)
However, to see if you're having any luck, you can use OS Monitor to see process cpu %, and what governor and clock your CPU is currently at. I'd be careful setting the clock with OS monitor, it has crashed my device every time I've tried.
You can also try putting on CurrentWidget to see what the draw is on your device, however, I'm not quite sure how accurate it is, mostly cause I haven't looked, but its very nice for a baseline, and you can create a text logfile of the draw and current apps running.
Ya I also trieed to do this tweak with no luck the ksoft was way to high have you checked out the site now he has more in depth guide but I still could not get it to work
sup
has anybody else tried this tweak heard people had great battery life out of it but i just cant get it to work can anybody help please
First hope all the Devs dont get me wrong.. im just giving some usefull tips over here in way to make everyone happy and share my achievments
You may not belive me but it worths a shot to try it i guess, since i say im able to have my GIO running over one day and half using it a lot and by that i mean:
- around 1,000 text messages (here in portugal text messages are free for same operators)
- 1-2hrs of total voice calls
- 3g always on with syncs every hour
- Wi-Fi turned on around 4hours
- Radio and music playing around 1h
- besides some games, facebook,email...etc...etc.. apps used
So think about it... i've just realized a lot of ppl in here have some problems with battery in GIO, so im not advertising im just helping everyone!!!
So what would you need?
-Samsung GIO
-Adrenaline ROM 2nd Edition
-Internet connection
-and the most important part... patience!!
So lets take this in simple steps...
Get Adrenaline ROM 2nd Edition and then is where the tricks begin...
you'll have A2SDGUI app open it:
Just activate Apps are on SD!
Zipalign on Boot is on
then on Dalvik tab:
Dalvik Cache on SD-EXT
Dalvik JIT is on!
then Move and Rebuld!
(ths step is important cause in my point of view is what it makes the rom faster after the next steps, this way you'll improve your RAM free space what is a must have eheheh)
After that phone will restart just wait and enter A2SDGUI again but now on LowMemory tab:
Select Ultimate low memory settings and CHANGE!
(no probs found with multi tasking with that config over here... but you may lower it if you find troubles)
then A2SDGUI is done
Now... i use SetCpu because of the Profiles setting if you dont have it use NoFrills CPU and skip the profiles part
Max 480000
Min 245760
Conservative
*Set on boot
Profiles part:
*Enable
1st: Screen Off
Priority 100
Max 245
Min 245
Conservative
2nd: Battery < 30%
Priority 50
Max 320
Min 245
Conservative
Ok guys that's it you've finaly made the hardest part... you can always try to edit this configs at your own desire but this is the way i found it way smooth and with good battery! Just meant to share it!
The one and the last part is a "add on" im still testing...
an app called Battery Calibration, that basicly does the same as "Wipe battery Stats" but you avoid the entering recovery part
plus im doing it weekly every fridays and just do half of the calbration process...
Let me describe it:
Friday morning when its 100% go to app to clean battery stats... and just let it go till 0% battery when its completely dead normaly at sunday while having dinner
Hope you guys liked it and appreciate my explanations... if i made some ILLEGAL thing dont censure me just warn me and if you dont like my post dont complain or insult...
AS I SAID IM JUST TRYING TO HELP EVERYONE ;D
... besides for more explanations or doubts just ask
And dont forget to hit Thanks if this helped you for sure
Now is up to you guys to try it or not, as i said no differences in performance but big ones in battery

Mine doesnt really look like a tutorial..
i made it rushing (unfortunly) i dont even know if it works for everyone since depending on ppl use of phone diferent settings must be applied
and besides that topic is from Ace, but doesnt differ too much from mine so thats nce to see
besides he talks in undervolting and havent see any values for it but is something im going to try it soon on GIO and check the results...
Just to add some more info on my post battery last for 2 days now the battery calibration is maybe working for sure lol
if anyone has tried my methods please post feedback
just to make it clear i wont modify anyones ROM just trying configs to boost battery

I will try, but first I have to install this rom

No wonder you are doubling the battery life, you're clocking it to half the speed!
Doesn't it affect performance though?
thanks for trying to help people.....That part i appreciate.
underclocking the phone will be good for only those that rarely use their phone for anything other than phone calls/texts....but for using browser, games etc...it will be terribly rough....
why is battery life such a concern? it doesn't matter to me if i plug it in beside my bed each night if i have to.
to each their own though
but the main things that affect battery is not the cpu speed....its the use of internet (mobile net or wifi) along with the things that occur in the background such as email and messenger app syncs that use internet.
edit: i reread this part again:
ou may not belive me but it worths a shot to try it i guess, since i say im able to have my GIO running over one day and half using it a lot and by that i mean:

- besides some games, facebook,email...etc...etc.. apps used
that is a lot of stuff you did....I am glad that this works for you, and hopefully others will be happy to
Well I find your advice good, but I clock it at 673 MHz max, it's smoother and I can do absolutely everything. But all in all, great
Hi All,
I wanted to start one main thread where people can come for a wealth of knowledge. I see lots of scattered threads regarding the best ROM, best kernel, battery life, bugs, etc. Sorry if you consider this to be one of those threads.
I want this thread to be the place where we can standardize information in a certain format, such as this:
ROM:
KERNEL:
*GOVERNED SETTINGS:
- SETCPU SETTINGS:
- __OTHER GOVERNED SETTINGS__:
BATTERY LIFE:
BATTERY DEPLETION SINCE LAST FULL CHARGE & LENGTH OF TIME SINCE CHARGER DISCONNECT:
GPS ON ALL THE TIME? :
WIFI ON ALL THE TIME? :
MISC APPS CAUSING MORE DEPLETION THAN NORMAL:
This central area of information will allow us to see what works best, what does not work too well and what we use different than others and how it affects our devices from one to another.
Again, I come here to help the best way I can, please don't flame me and sorry if this is another one of those repeat posts.
I'll follow up with another post and post what I got running thus far.
DEMOGRAPHIC: TMOBILE USA
ROM: DARKSIDE DIGITAL WARFARE 2.7
KERNEL: 2.6.35.14-SGH-T989-DARKSIDE-X-v2-STABLE+

- __OTHER GOVERNED SETTINGS__: NONE
BATTERY LIFE: GETS TO ABOUT 80% IN 2 HOURS
BATTERY DEPLETION SINCE LAST FULL CHARGE & LENGTH OF TIME SINCE CHARGER DISCONNECT: CURRENTLY ON CHARGER
