Bluetooth tether problem - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to figure out if at all its possible to tether with bluetooth to my Asus Transformer. I've search everywhere with no luck. Someone mentioned that the custom kernel with CONFIG_BT_BNEP should be able to tether via bluetooth. Does anyone know which kernel contains the "CONFIG_BT_BNEP" file?

Wired Tether in Froyo

I'm thinking about moving back up to 2.2 from 2.1 but I want to use Wired Tether instead of Wifi Tether. Are there any Froyo roms that have this included?
no, its a Kernel locked feature which wont be able to be used until we get official 2.2 source
I use wireless tehter app on mine. That way I don't get the extra charge on my bill. Its called wireless tether but u have to have it plugged in to computer to tether the wireless signal. Atleast I seem to have to. Works great. U do have to be rooted though. You can also try pdaNET if ur not rooted. Both can be found threw a google search or on the android markt.

That is misinformation. Wired Tether is a native builtin feature of Froyo that WORKS as is on DK28 build. I'm using it now as I am typing this response.
Just curious why do you want wired over wireless?

So If I move back over to Truly Epic, I can just plug in and use the wired tethering? I tried using wireless tethering and it worked great, but the wired tether just moves so much faster for me

It's not really a "kernel locked" feature, DI18 contains the appropriate RNDIS driver code. The problem is that bugs in the USB gadget driver prevents it from being activated. Hence why it's supported in (some) custom kernels.

Good to hear. I haven't bothered with the Froyo leaks since I need kernel sources for other reasons, but it wasn't clear if Samsung fixed the RNDIS bugs.
Wired tether is convenient to have
Such as for me since I ont have a wifi router for my pc
Id love to have a way for wired tether in froyo :/

I never used wired tether before.I didn't know it was faster. I assumed but I thought it was just a little difference.

The difference between wired and wireless is when using wired u move or copy files between your phone and pc in same time you are tethering even you can move or copy files via wireless I found this way is more convenient for me.

How to get Infrastructure Mode??

Hello I have a S-Offed and rooted Droid Incredible 2 running stock 2.3.4. I also have an HP TouchPad. The TouchPad requires that it connects to "infrastructure mode" connections.
Now I know that the Incredible 2 is "hardware capable" of putting out an infrastructure mode output. I used the built in tether feature on CM7 without a hitch.
I'm wondering what I need to do to accomplish this with my phone on Sense? I want to run the stock ROM for now? Would flashing a new kernel help? If so does anybody have any recommendations for a good Sense kernel?
thanks for the help
Are you tethering? Barnacle wifi tether worked great for me on sense, and my touch pad is all I use tethering for.

yeah I mean the TouchPad sees the hotspot, it just won't connect to it. That's exactly what it would do to my Droid, which would only do Ad-Hoc. Just need to figure out how to get it to do infrastructure mode.
Like I said I know this phone is capable of it. Just need to figure out how.
thanks

[Q] Tethering to Asus TF300 android tablet

I running stock rooted EL29 Gingerbread and can't seem to be able to tether my new Asus TF300 to it. I tried the "Wireless Tether" application that was included along with the newer version but no joy. Looked for other tethering apps on the market but Sprint has them blocked. I do not seen an Ad-hoc option on the TF300 and the bluetooth option would pair but the tablet wouldn't connect to the internet.
Any suggestions? I'd prefer to tether through bluetooth if possible for battery life reasons.
Here's what worked for me
I had the same issue, and this combination of apps got Bluetooth tethering working for my TF300 (tethering to my Verizon GNex)
1) Install PDANet Tablet on your TF300
2) Install FoxFi on your phone
3) Go back to your tablet, open PDANet, choose Configure, then follow the prompts
That's all she wrote, worked first try for me and haven't had any problems since. Can't say the same about the tablet itself unfortunately, but that's a whole other thread
Hope this helps out!
If Sprint is blocking tethering apps, you can download both through Blackmart Alpha, just Google around a bit (both apps are free so theres no piracy involved)

That worked great, thanks!
I'm running Bugless Beast ROM on my Nexus S 4G (Sprint). I have not been able to get the tether to work with any instructions I've found, including the above, or with any other number of apps I've tried. I either get connected but no data transfer or the tablet will show "saved" under the SSID that I gave my phone and never connect. This true for both wifi and Bluetooth tethering. I've tethered iPhones and laptops to my phone successfully so I know it isn't my phone. Anyone out there have any other ideas?
I can't seem to find any answers on any forum...

that actually sounds like your xbox compatibility issue instead of the android issue, afterall your other devices connects no problem.
I have the same problem!! I am running a stock rooted 4.1 rom , and it tethers great.. if I update to any ROM 4.2.X I can not tether my Xbox!! Everything else works great.. I can not figure it out. Its not the Xbox its something to do with 4.2.X.

Bluetooth tether to ipod touch

Just wondering if anyone has any info on this. Should the stock bluetooth tether be working with a rom like Lifeless? I can get them to connect and even claims it is sharing data, but ipod will not load web pages.
