Hi guys,
I'm posting right now because i have a littl probleme with my phone..
So i baught a Desire HD in February, i rooted it, installed clockwork, ...
But now my problem is that i broke the volume button my phone fell down and it's irreplaceable because the things which controle the volume button is a part of the motherboard so i would have to change everything and i don't want to (too expensive)
I flashed the last Revolution rom by Rom Manager and when the phone reboot it got stucked on the HTC white screen
To fix that i know i have to get to the recovery but my button is blocken and i can't have access to recovery , is there any solution to get there by computer ?
I've searched but i couldn't find anything
Please if someone know please give me a post where it says how to or just tell me the command to write on my cmputer.
Thank you guys
Sorry for my english (i'm french)
ok... enter into bootloader//fastboot and reboot via sdk into recovery menu.... i can leave the commands now here.. not in my house...

okay i staid looking for your question into fastboot commands an there´s not any parameter to enter into your fastboot to reboot into recovery sorry...
the only thing that you can do its re- flash the nand partition of your device flashing the PD98img.zip with sdk of course
download PD98IMG.ZIP from here and copy paste to the root of your sd-card
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
then goo to fastboot into your device and wait for the automatic install of the file and then you can root again and flash another rom..
EDIT: if your vol- its broken you should to consider & asume that flash anything its dangerous for your device.... because you can´t enter into recovery when don´t boot....
be careful...and learn sdk commands, botloader its not an exe for use like an app.
its for to use it combinated with any order for your device
EDIT 2: About pd98img: this file its a 1.32 rom froyo pure stock for recover your system.
why 1.32? because if you flash this u are going to lose root etc... and with 1.32 version you dont need to do downgrade, etc... only using visionary r14+ its sufficient... and then you are able to flash another rom
I downloaded the file you told me and put it on the sd card.
But how to get into fastboot by computer ? By using Multitool ? i havent seen the option inside
I'm so sorry for my bad question and bad knowledge, actually i used to be an iOS user and when i discored HTC Sense it was for me a revelation lol

noooo WTFF?
bootloader is the status of the phone...
1-put the pd98img into sd card (in root IMPORTANT)
2-SHUT DOWN your device
3- enter to bootloader prsiing at the same time in this order VOL- & POWER BUTTON 20-30 segs..
now you are into bootloader...(white screen with 3 green droids) and installation may start automatically
I recommend to you that learn all the posibilities and features of the "android world" BEFORE flashing anything... you can brick your device without return
Ohh yeah i know booloader lol but i thought you were saying that we can have access by computer i meanby code or something
Yes i know ho to get to bootloader by pushing the volume down and eht power button and then everything is gonna be alone
But now my probleme is that my volume down is brocken so i can't get there by using only the phone :s

I think you are right unfortunately , when i saw the white screen i was like "Noo my phone is brocken i can't get to recovery anymore, my phone is down.."
Thank you, you did a lot for me, that's ok i don't know what to do, the Desire HD is the best android phone i've ever seen (biggg screeen, fast, ...) so i really want it back but i asked already a shop in paris and they told me something about 300€ that's to expensive for me (i'm student) so don't know what to do

Yes but it says :

??
Turn off your phone completely (remove battery to do so) then plug it in your computer and wait a bit for it to boot into recovery. I've heard people say this is a bug but personally I think this is a feature.
Then if you need to get into the bootloader type in "adb reboot bootloader" and this will take you straight to fastboot.
I get to Fastboot, but what can i do now ? can i get to recovery whitouh volume botton ?
EDIT : It's flashing right now by PD98DIAG.zip
EDIT 2 : It flashed but couldn't do anything else so i took of the battery and booted it but still the same white htc screen
EDIT 3 : The flash by PD98DIAG.zip : OK now i get another probleme, it asks me "Do you want to star update" but i can't push the vol up can i dot it by computer ?
But u flashed the pd98img of the link that i provided to you?
Re-flash it and try again...
If not from fastboot downloading any rom and re-name the file by ""update.zip"" and then put it into the sdk folder... open CMD and write:
Fastboot update update.zip
and the update file may be installed..

Yes i uses the pd98img that you gave me.
Got to fastboot, the things was flashing and now i have like
[1]Bootloader
[2]Boot
...
DO you want to star update ?
<vol up> yes
<vol down> no
I know i just have to pussh YES to fix it but how ?
I'll try with update.zip
EDIT : Try to pu a revolution rom renamed update.zip to the sdk folder and when i wrote the command i got :
archive does not contain 'android-inf.txt
archive does not contain 'android-product-txt'
error : update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
Which do i use in your option ?
You need to run the 1.32.405.6 RUU. This requires no user input on the handset.
1). Download THIS.
2). Ensure you have HTC Sync installed.
3). Turn your phone on and boot up normally.
4). Run the RUU~.exe and follow the prompts.
5). Handset returned to stock.
He cant boot his device... stucks in white screen... is not unable to install ruu from exe file?

Edited the entire first post to make it clear what the issue *was* and what the solution is:
ISSUE:
1. Desire screen not switching on at all even though phone switches on.
2. Phone boots but doesn't go beyond bootloader/recovery/fastboot
3. Can get into recovery even though nothing comes on screen (test: press volume down and power. Wait for 10 seconds. Press volume down. Press power. Phone should vibrate. Wait 20 seconds. Phone should now be in recovery mode.)
4. Can get into fastboot (back+power)
5. No goldcard
CAUSE of MY ISSUE:
I had Aura Sense7.9+AlphaRev S-Off. Cause::Ran a very old RUU just because I wanted to bring things back to stock. The RUU overwrote my HBOOT from 0.93 to god knows what. Turned out, the RUU was for amoled screens and not for SLCD screen. So even though the phone turned on, the screen never did.
SOLUTION:
1. Make sure you have HTC Sync drivers installed. Install HTC Sync and then just remove the application and not the drivers. I also installed the unrevoked hboot drivers. Do the same.
2. Get Android SDK http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r07-windows.zip
3. Check that your phone is recognized in recovery and fastboot by your system once drivers are installed -- once you install the drivers, boot into recovery (point 3 of issue -- you should hear beeps in win7 signalling a device connection). Open android_sdk/tool directory in command line and type 'adb devices'. Your device should come up. Similarly take phone into fastboot, and then in command line type 'fastboot devices' your phone should come up.
4.Switch off phone after test. Next, take phone into recovery mode and create gold card. Follow http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/ or use the Gold Card Tool . The last part of the Gold Card Tool (Patch MMC) didn't work for me so I used the hex editor manually. Make sure you start with the SD Card that came with your phone. I tried 2 cards and it didn't work. Just the SD Card with the phone did!
5. After gold card is made, download 'RUU_Bravo_Froyo_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.13.707.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed' RUU from shipped-roms. This is the latest RUU that I could find for SLCD screen.
6. Run RUU and if your gold card is correct, you should sail right through. and be greeted by a working Desire.
Phew!
Thanks goes to:

I'm not able to get into recovery. I just get to the bootloader -- I know this just because i can feel it vibrate once. volume down/power doesn't do anything. fastboot works because i can see it using adk. Screen doesn't come on at all so can't see whats going on.

How do I make a goldcard at this stage? I can get into the adb shell but can't mount the sdcard in any way. mount /sdcard just throws up errors. Are all goldcards the same -- a goldcard made on one desire can run on another? (I might be wrong but I think not)...
really screwed aren't i?
When you plug in the phone to the comp is it still visible in the "hardware section" ??
( you must have HTC sync installed and after that unistall the sync part, but leave the driver)

And therein lies the mystery...i can't find it. i've gone through 100s of posts yesterday and tried flashing around 7 WWE and Asia roms, none of them work -- signatures just don't match!
i knew I should've created a goldcard!! since HBOOT has been overwritten and I can still erase system, data, and recovery using fastboot, should I just send it for service --- it is still under warranty... anyway of knowing if it's been HTCized again?
What software version was it on when you got it? This should be made clear before rooting to ALWAYS make a note of it so you can go back to stock if needed...without that you can try and send it to HTC but they may just turn around and say 'you rooted it, tough' and send it back
it was on 2.1 and upgraded it to 2.2 ota the day i got it.
i know.should've paid more attention and even created a goldcard for safe measure, but this is where I am at the moment
just wish things hadn't turned this bad...there's ought to be something else that I can do
http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r07-windows.zip
http://www.shadowchild.nl/rom210.zip
Ok. step by step.
Download de android SDK from here: http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r07-windows.zip
Unzip it to a place where you can easely find it back.
Download also http://www.shadowchild.nl/rom210.zip , no need to unzip this, just place it in the map "tools"in the unzipped file.
Open a command prompt and navigate to the map 'tools' from the unzipped file.
That is in "CMD".
1. get your microsd card out of the phone.
2. turn the phone onin FASTBOOT mode, press the "back"button (on the right-underside of your phone) and the power button at the same time..
3. Typ in je commandprompt:
code:
1 fastboot erase cache (enter)
2 fastboot oem rebootRUU (enter)
3 fastboot flash zip rom210.zip (enter)
maybe you get a HBOOT pre-update 'error', repeat immedeatly the last command.
when this is finnished (you got now HTC ROM 2.10, not rooted) - the progressbar is then full:
fastboot reboot
You should no have a clean HTC romand can put back your sd card
make sure that there is no more 'PB99IMG.zip' file on the sd-card.
If you go to "start" on the computer an d type "HTC" you will find the HTC sync and two seperate uninstall files.
Just uninstall htc sync and leave the driver.
You will need this otherwise the phone will not be detected in the hardwaresection.
I have had the same problem and a guy on a dutch forum showed me the way and it worked again.
So, plug in the phone, turn it on with "back" and "power" ( not the volume-buttons)
Press "start" on the computer and type "CMD".
navigate to the map "tools" by entering cd (name of the map where you placed it)
Good luck.

Don't enter the numbers 1,2 and 3, just the commands.

What i tried was, "adb reboot bootloader"
which goes in bootloader but doesn't scan like the guide says... and from there i'm lost.
Any help is appreciated.
oh wow. so you cannot manipulate your power button at all? no tweaking or pushing in with something else (is the button still there or did it break off?
warning -- do not do this -- im just trying to be helpful but I am probably not.... dont do this on my account.
well im looking in TJWorld... please dont do this without a real dev taking a look at this
http://tjworld.net/wiki/Android/HTC/Vision/BootProcess#FastBootRestart (Chain Operating System down 1/4 of the way)
in so many words connect serial-usb-to control Hboot (need linux host)
screen /dev/ttyUSBO
press enter till you see "hboot"
and then basically I guess just like in GOTO language
gotofastboot
or
gotohboot
and then theres OEM Reboot Codes
-reboot=oem-1F Regular reboot
--reboot=oem-42 HBoot menu
--reboot=oem-74 In some indeterminate state, for all intents and purposes powered off or just plain dead
--reboot=oem-76 Wipe data and cache (factory reset) Amber and Green LEDs flash whilst it is doing it, then the device reboots
--reboot=oem-78 ??
I hope this helps at all..
The buttons there, you can press it as hard as you want but nothing. Just no response
I have this exact problem!! It's been sitting in my room collecting dust. If anyone can find a fix.. a cup of coffee on me!
My power button is also in perfect condition, I've compared it to another G2 and the button's "press feel" is exactly the same.
why dont you just remap the keyboard and map the camera button as power
^^ i thought the power button combo is not remappable....
and that Its only mapped within android not for the default system combos
Do you have CWM? If so, the phone should turn on when it is plugged into a power source.
^^ Do have CWM, problem is not the phone turning on... the problem is I have no usable power key to follow the guide to unroot and put a stock rom on so i can send it in for warranty.
Using keyboard I can turn on the screen so thats do-able... but restoring to stock + removing root is what I'm trying to ultimately achieve.
i think theres an app thts called quick boot maybe tht could help...
Could you not flash the zip file from within rom manager. By selecting install rom from SD Card, you avoid needing to use powerbutton to get into bootloader. Correct me if you cant do this.
I tried flashing from CWM and error... rom manager didn't reboot it to CWM to flash, so not sure what to do.
This is what I have tried --
PC10IMG_Vision_TMOUS_1.19.531.1_Radio_12.21.60.09b_26.02.01.15_M2_release_149459_signed.zip
on hex editor the version is 1.19.531.1, and it already was so i didn't need to change it. But when i try putting that zip through cwm it doesn't work.
I've tried adb reboot bootloader , but it doesn't scan for PC10IMG which i downloaded from the guides....

Which version CWM have you got on there? If its 3.0 I dont think you can flash a froyo rom with that. You would have to install an earlier version.
You can remap the power button with the button remapper app it cost 1.04$ it works fine for me even if you turn off your phone u can use camera button to turn it on, I got the app for free if u dnt want to spend but I cannot post the apk I'm using my phone right now just search it on google beansoft button remapper
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11021708#post11021708
My posted app.. hope this helps
i don't think remapping keys will work. It's a hardcoded thing the power+volume key during boot. What i don't get is the fact that hboot doesn't find the file. did you rename it to PC10IMG.zip?
thats the only filename hboot understands as an update or new rom. (Be shure to follow the original guide)
edit: tried myselve.. it doesn't go to hboot does it.. you have to select with powerkey
how can we just make the phone crash? to leave no trace of root or anything of the sort.
Possible solution
Hi !
While I am still thinking about a solution how you could boot into hboot (by using adb reboot bootloader you boot into fastboot mode and not hboot mode) the following might be a solution.
I can not test it because I don't have windows but this is what might work:
1. You need windows and you need the USB drivers from HTC Sync (You can get that here http://www.htc.com/uk/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=325&act=sd&cat=all
2. You need a Desire Z RUU:
You can get one from here http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vision
Select any WWE I would probably use RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.22.405.1_Radio_12.26.60.1301_26.02.00.24_M2_release_151197_signed.exe
3. You need the G2 Stock ROM zip, i.e PC10IMG_Vision_TMOUS_1.19.531.1_Radio_12.21.60.09b_26.02.01.15_M2_release_149459_signed.zip
The procedure is the following:
1. Install the HTC Sync so that you have the USB Drivers installed
2. Start the RUU and let it do it's job until the Welcome Screen apears.
At this moment you should have a directory in C:\C:\Documents and Settings\<your user>\Local Settings\Temp\{some-CLSID}\{another-CLSID} that contains a file called rom.zip.
Delete this file and copy the PC10IMG_Vision_TMOUS_1.19.531.1_Radio_12.21.60.09b_26.02.01.15_M2_release_149459_signed.zip to the directory and rename it to rom.zip
3. Connect you phone to the USB and on the welcome screen check the checkbox and continue.
If I am right the RUU should update your phone using the G2 rom.
As said, I am blind driving cause I ain't got Windows but this might work.
have fun Guhl

Well there is an option if you do have the engineering hboot installed.
DO NOT TRY THIS BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECOVERY FROM THIS BRICK
1. boot the phone into fastboot mode by using
Code:
adb boot bootloader
2. use fastboot do completely erase the emmc
Code:
fastboot oem fdisk_emmc
After this the phone will be completely erased and will not even know that it is a phone anymore. You can send it in and have it replaced and no one will ever know how your phone got bricked like this
And again: There is no way to recover from this state !!!

Hi!
I recently rooted my Desire with unrevoked 3 and I installed the ReflexS rom. Everything worked perfectly!
I was curious for Cyanogenmod and I downloaded version 7.0.3 directly through Rom Manager. When the download was completed it suggested to install which I agreed. I think clear Dalvik cache was marked, but clear data cache was not. I agreed... maybe my first mistake.
After this Cyanogenmod was installed, but my Desire stayed on the boot screen (sakteboarding android with running arrow) for over 30min so I took out the battery. I restarted and it goes well until the android setup screen "tap the android to begin". I can tap and it gets glowing, but it does not continue! I can not go any further than this. The only thing I can do is choose a language or shutdown.
To overcome this issue I thought of recovering/reinstalling my previous ROM. I also have a Titanium backup.
Now here's the problem: when start up into recovery, my volume buttons won't work so I can not enter into the recovery menu.
What should I do?
I'm getting desperate, because my phone is down at the moment!
Thanks for your help!
you mean volume buttons dont work in recovery or in bootloader ?
in recovery you can navigate using trackpad, in bootloader you must wait around 10-15 seconds until you can use volume buttons to navigate.
and yes it was a BIG mistake not to make a wipe before the flashing of cyanogenmod....
you should have done a full wipe
Ok will firstly, go to the Cyanogenmod stable topic to read how to install out. Secondly, avoid rom manager. Thirdly, to boot into recovery, boot your phone like normal and plug your phone into your pc. After about 20 second the usb will kick in. This is where you use the adb reboot recovery command in command prompt or terminal. Enjoy.

Do you have the drivers installed? You van try installing and then uninstall HTC Sync to get the drivers.

What if your phone doesn't boot into recovery in this case and you get an error that says "FAILED (Status Malformed (1 bytes))"?

You can alwys get into recovery through the adb shell.
Hi.
I know this tread is old but the issue is relevant because this is still a persistant problem.First of all thanks for the tip and second i have great, great news !!! you dont even have to deassemble the phone to put the up down button to work.Just insert the alcool UNDER the volume button with a seringe with a needle and click the button for a minute or two...wait until the alcool evaporates and VOILÁ !! problem fixem !! Not need todeassemble or using adb.Just do this and you will be fine.

already tried it man, but nothing happened :crying:
Before you start, you will need to set up your computer to properly recognize the phone. You probably did this when rooting originally, but just in case... Install SDK tools for Android, Java runtime, and HTC Sync.
About HTC Sync: The only reason you need HTC Sync installed is for the USB drivers that come with it. But the program itself has been known to cause conflicts. Make sure that HTC Sync is not running in the background by opening Task Manager in Windows and killing it if you find it lurking in there.
Here we go:
1. Download the correct RUU for your device from Football's Primo Shipped ROM Collection.
2. Charge the battery above 50% or for at least one hour. If the battery dies during the flashing process, you could hard brick the phone!
3. Run the RUU until the wizard comes up. While the RUU wizard is open, find the temporary folder it created. (Open Explorer in Windows and type %temp% in the navigation bar.) There will be two folders with long encrypted names. In one of them you will find ROM.zip. Open it with 7zip and extract recovery.img or recovery_signed.img. Put it in the location were you've installed Android SDK tools. This is the stock HTC Recovery and it is needed to run the RUU.
4. Boot the phone into bootloader (power off, hold down volume and press power) and highlight FASTBOOT/B] using the volume rocker and pressing power. Then connect the USB cable. You should see FASTBOOT USB.
5. Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to the folder where you installed Android SDK tools. Flash the stock recovery extracted in step 3 above using the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
or
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
6. Relock the bootloader using the following command:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
7. Re-run the RUU. It will restore the device to it's original condition, locked (though *** RELOCKED ***) and unrooted.
Once the install is done you'll have unlock the bootloader again using the token you already have from the first time, reflash CWM Recovery and re-root. All this will be 10x easier than the first time.
If you do re-root your phone, be 100% you backup the stock ROM in ClockworkMod Recovery before making changes!!!!!!!!

Yes, bootloader's still unlocked and i have acces to fastboot.
Find "Mi A2 Lite toolkit V 1.0.4.2" and use it to flash stock 8.1, it will do all the magic with a few clicks, just don't interrupt it until your phone restarts and you get the "Welcome" screen. After you can do the upgrade to Pie via OTA.

If it was too simply ... I think i did that already, But fastboot room, what do you mean with that ?
I just want, now, to be sure, can i save my phone ? It's not dead ?
Cause it's a very good phone and i don't want to loose it, really.
Nope, it's not dead, even with locked bootloader it wouldn't be. But now that you've got an unlocked bootloader, it's very easy to restore
I'm more happy so, 5 hours ( no fake really ) i search a solution .... SO
I found a global rom without .bat files in this folder so i got an error with Mi Flash Tool .. Tell me more about your idea
What's the error if I may ask?

-Tente isso:
Download this official rom: https://en.miui.com/download-354.html
Download this Mi Flash Tool: http://api.en.miui.com/url/MiFlashTool
*I'm assuming you already have the ADB drivers installed on your PC
*Remember to check the CLEAN ALL option
-If the above method does not work, do the following:
* It will only work if you do not have TWRP installed, if it is with twrp installed, I recommend reinstalling the original recovery *
1-Turn off the device and press (POWER BUTTON + VOLUME UP). At that point, the android doll will appear and spelled 'NO COMMAND'
2-Press only (POWER BUTTON) and click quickly (VOLUME UP BUTTON). In this screen you will see the recovery options, use the volume buttons to go to the WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET option, confirm with YES and restart the device.
3- Wait patiently for 3/5 minutes.
-If none of this works and you can still access twrp, I recommend you try installing a GSI rom using this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-functional-twrp-magisk-pie-gsi-t3900119
I recommend this GSI rom (I'm using this now): https://get.resurrectionremix.com/?dir=gsi (choose 'arm64-ab')
This will give you a working system and make it easier to return to stock.
Hope one of these methods helped!
Hi all,
The problem was my PC i had not the .bat files so it couldn't work ...

If u alredy used twrp den u have adb.
U need mi flash tool.
Download any one of the full fastboot roms for Mi A2 Lie below:
9.6.4.0: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/10399/
9.6.10.0: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/10867/
10.0.3: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/11586/
So to revive ur fone, u do dis. Dis was how i did mine.
1. After downloading a rom of choice, u extract on ur pc using winrar, 7zip or izarc. U basically open the archive using any of these software n copy out the folder contained. The name usually starts with "daisy global ...."
2. U open the extracted rom folder. U will see a bunch of files including "flash_all.bat" etc and a folder called "images".
3. Click on the address bar of d rom folder and copy the address. Den open "mi flash tool" and paste d copied address in the mi flash tool address bar n click on refresh.
4. Boot ur phone to fastboot mode, using "power" & "volume down" buttons together.
connect d phone to ur pc via usb cable.
5. Open ur adb folder and open the adb command window.
Type in the following, one after the other n click enter:
" fastboot devices " dis to confirm the adb connection
" fastboot oem edl " dis to enter edl mode. Ur fone led starts blinking at 1sec intervals.
6. Back to mi flash tool, u click on "refresh". After a second ur fone should be seen as a COM port "COM 10"
7. At d bottom right, u shd find 3 options. Selct "clean all". This shd leave ur bootloader unlocked after the process.
8. U click on "flash" button at the top right. All things going well, within 10 mins the process shd be done and u will see "green" indicator with "success".
9. Hold ur fone n press d power botton for 10 secs. Then ur fone shd power up. Give ur fone exactly about 5 mins to come up "look at the clock & dnt assume"
Dis is an edit of others tutorials. But this is exactly how it worked for me. As long as u use any of the 3 roms i linked u.
Unless i use edl mode, it jus doesnt work for me.
Good luck. Leta know how it goes. And pls click thanks if i helped u.
Problem solved
