Hey guys!
I made the mistake of trying to run an animation I downloaded on my phone while running Go Launcher. It of course, didn't work. I went ahead, wiped the data and then went to restore and tried to restore my nandroid and it told me:
Oops! Something went wrong!
I reflashed CM7 and did it all over again. My question is, what could have "gone wrong?"
Why did this happen? I'm using Amon Ra. If anyone could help me, that would be AWESOME! Thanks in advance guys!
Md5 sum mismatch, or corrupt IMG, bad block write, many choices, there is recovery log you can view if you move log to sdcard and repeat the error

Make sure you have a fully charged battery when restoring your nandroid. I think if it's below 50%, you'll get the error. It's happened to me and after I put a fresh battery in, the restore went through without a hitch. I use Amom RA 2.2.1.

This. Also, on the advanced options of RA there is an option to copy recovery.log to the sd card. That will show you the details of the error.

Yes sir, that's how I found out it was the battery level.

This makes sense. I was at 40%. I wasn't worried because I have the seidio 3500 mah battery. I guess Amon Ra was just trying to watch my back, hahaha. Thanks guys!

Yeah, I had my apps backed up with titanium backup so I flashed cm7 on my phone again and brought my apps back. At the end, it was good this happened. The apps I said "I'll recover with titanium backup later" were the apps I didn't use but didn't delete because I thought I'd use then again. Now I realize I don't really care for them so now I have more internal space, hahaha!

I do a nandroid backup... the whole process finishes.. Then I go to restore to it.. And it brings me back to a FRESH install of whatever Rom I backed up. It's done this to me now with Baked Snack and CM6
What recovery are you using? Just curious.

I've never used Clockwork so I'm afraid I can't really give you much insight. I might suggest taking 15 min and installing one of the AmonRA recoverys. I've used them since I had a MT3G and they seem to be pretty flawless. As long as you store your backups on your SD card you shouldnt really be at risk of losing anything. Does Clockwork allow you to make and store multiple backups?
Clockwork works just fine for me. I'm not sure what your problem might be.
i use Amon Ra and i have been having the same issue lately, kinda...when i go to restore a nand backup it gives me an error message saying to push it adb style or sumthing along those lines...very frustrating ...kinda lost too for me...any one have any ideas what the problem is ? using FrEakEfroyo v2 with king#6

Have you, by any chance, renamed your backups? If you have, you CAN'T have any spaces in the name. If you named it the full version of what you're running it would have to be FrEakEfroyo_v2_with_king#6

Your problem most likely is that your battery is too low. Happened to me several times usually if the battery is below 30% or there abouts. Plug your phone in, juice it up and try with at least 50 % battery, should work.
Or, I've heard it can happen if you renamed your backups. I never rename my backups because I've heard it can cause issues like this, so I can't tell you for sure if that's the problem.
I'm guessing battery.
This is really getting frustrating. I did a nandroid backup last night of my Baked Snack install. I then wiped and installed CM6. 5 minutes later I had a problem and restored Baked Snack. And it went right back to a fresh install of Baked Snack. I then flashed AmonRA. Installed CM6. Setup CM6 how I wanted it. Did a nandroid backup in AmonRA. Then wiped and restored it. And I was right back to a fresh install again.

i have renamed them...i will check to see if that is the problem or not...thanks for the info...hope this helps me in the future with my nand backups...

So I try a different Rom about every 2 weeks. All of a sudden ,last week I tried one of the liquid acer roms. Afterwards I went to restore a backup and shortly after starting ,I got an error sayin use adb to restore. Tried an earlier backup and it works but titanium backup only restores some of my apps and the market doesn't work. If I hit ok,install in market it does nothing. So I wipe everything and try a fresh install ( tried virus ,azreal, ava) azreal 3 has been my daily. And still same problem with market but now titanium won't restore any apps. It just sits there with the progress pop up on screen but doesn't do anything. Only recent changes. Updated pri to 1.90 ,reverted to 1.77 to try that. And using amon ra 1.80 ,tried goin to ra 2.1 but still no dice. Has sumpin on my SD card got corrupted or what
Try formatting your sd card.

I get the same error with aman ra wanting my to restore nand from adb. It started sometime around the 3.70 upgrade which was when I upgraded PRI to 1.90. I switched back to clockwork 2.6.0.1 but haven't tried to restore a backup yet.
i think when amon ra tells you to nand from adb that means that you dont have enough battery power to do the recovery. i think the battery should ne at like 30 %

Or like Tango & Cash said " Fubar'd". Fugged Up Beyond All Recognition .oh and formatting the SD card worked. I always have a full charge when doin this stuff

Was doing fine then when I tried doing a backup last night just rows and rows of dots after saying its doing the back up.

This happened to me today as well using amon_ra 2.2.1. I just pulled the battery after 30 minutes. I checked my nandroid directory and it appears to have made a backup or at least part of one- I'm definitely not going to use it. Going to try again now.
Don't backup your cache...it's useless first of all...and that's the problem second of all...

Flash the file attached in HBOOT from sd card. It is Amon Ra 2.3-test3.
It takes care of the endless dots. it still has some bugs but nothing that affects your phone.

Hey guys,
I have scoured the forums and the web for answers, but have found none. I have everything normally displayed on ClockWorkMod EXCEPT the "nandroid" option. Can anyone shed some light on this?! I have been loyally updating ClockWorkMod but each comes with no "nandroid" option!
I am currently running MIUI 1.9.2 with a Savaged-Zen kernel along with vipermod and Supercharger V6. There is a thread similar to this, only it is in the "Vibrant General" forum and it ends abruptly. Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901818
It's not called nandroid. You just go into the recovery and select up backup/restore and then backup.
That's what I've been doing for, like, forever, but was nandroid discontinued or something?
It's still a nandroid backup, it's just not called that in the menu.
Backup - Nandroid
Started out with that backup, but quickly moved to Armon-RA, I have had no issues and all the features work without issue. Most all rom’s that are posted have users that are using the Clockwork, a standard recommendation is to move to Armon-RA. Might be a little pain in the neck to switch, but I don’t think you would want to go back.

It's still a nandroid back up, whether it's clockwork or Amon Ra recovery.
The backups are in a folder called clockworkmod on the sd card.

If your using rom mansger you can backup from there, they don't call it a nandroid but it is. Btw, amon_ra is a much better recovery.in terms of features and stability!

I had that problem at first but I had a space in my back up file after I renamed it I took out the space and all was good. check to see if you added spaces if you renamed your fil.

Clockwork is complete garbage compared to Amon Ra. You really should switch,but to each his own I guess.

Have you actually used clockwork extensively yourself and ran into problems or do you just hear of the problems of a few and spread the word?

I've never personally had issue with Clockwork but I've heard rumors about it [at least a year ago] having issues clearing dalvik cache.
However, I continue to use Amon RA because I like the look/layout better.

Agreed. I tried using clockwork and its options are nothing compared to amon RA.

Didn't rename anything this is what it named it I left it alone (BDARS-20110912-0603)
1 flashed ra
2 made recovery checking all but cache and sd ext
3 tired to restore immediately using that recovery it made... Got oops something happened
4 tried to move log... Oops something happened
5 battery is full ,6 gig free on card ,,,70mb free internal
6 said screw it went back to cwm till someone can help me figure out what's going wrong
I need to be able to make a working recovery so I can partition my card with ra

Try backing up contents of sd card onto computer. Then format aka erase sd card using phone and then copy contents from computer back to sd card. I had same problem and that is what worked for me.
I'm on the people's rom with agat kernel and everything's fine I just powered off my phone a few minutes ago and went into clockwork mod to do a backup and as soon as I hit back up it'll go back to the main screen and say "Error backing up boot image" or along those lines. I rebooted and it turned on just fine so...
Any ideas?

No I didn't wipe anything I went straight to backup when I booted into clockwork, and I'm not sure, I was a little frantic when it said error backing up boot image I didn't get all the fine details, if need be I'll try it again I'm just a little worried lol.
And yes, I have gigs of space left lol.
Edit: I don't know what I did but I just successfully made a backup via clockwork mod.
I posted this messsge, rebooted into recovery and when I hit backup it started doing its thing as if nothing happened.
I don't know. If anything comes up I'll post it.
