with all the new gingersense stuff coming out is anyone working on a kernal that is OC's cause the kingdom rom kinda needs it
I'm sure people are working on it... as always when something comes out, the devs here grab it and do what they want with it.. seems like a pretty rhetorical question..

Just be grateful you even have a gingersense 3.0 port to play with. Download Juice Defender if you're really that worried.

I'm not sure what a KERNAL is. Sounds similar to a kernel Kidding . But kernels will be released over time. You don't necessarily need the source for a kernel, because you can look back to the OG Droid's FroYo leaks had hacked together kernels without any source and it was being overclocked.

It's probably possible to overclock with a module, like what the Droid X/2 are using. I'm no kernel hacker though, just a lowly porter
There is a tradeoff, however. If you want OC, the battery life will suffer even more than stock.
Best bet is to use SetCPU to set some profiles.

I am fairly new to android but have enjoyed this community's help with my phone mods. I am now looking for a good 2.2 ROM which is as close to stock as possible. Any thoughts would be helpful as there are so many versions and different threads to dig through. Thanks!
You should try Sky Raider. I've been using it since version 1.0 and love it.
Is the Sky Raider rom faster than the current CM6 builds?
Not faster, but so much more stable. I personally prefer CM6, but until a .32 kernel is incorporated and the kinks are ironed out, Skyraider is the ROM for me.

+1 I'm using the 8/1 leak until CM6 incorporates the .32 kernel.
Doesn't SkyRaider vanilla still incorporate some Sense UI stuff? I've wanted to give SkyRaider a go but I'd rather have full-on vanilla.

dont have much to compare it to yet, but...
I'm a big fan of the work Adrynalyne has been putting out. I've been using his Second Wave which is a modified tweak of the 8/1 leak. He also has a mixed ROM using EVO framework mixed with DInc stuff to make it work. Haven't heard anything bad really about SR or Jager though. In the end, best to play with them til you fond what you're looking for. I'm sure soon enough the real 2.2 DInc release will come and it'll start all over again.

does his franken rom b2 have the stock white notifications bar, or the sense black one? because i like desensitized, but i'd also like to keep the black notifications bar. also, can i run the .zip's to remove the 911 notifications icon and add the round battery mod? if so, then i'll definitely give it a try.

It's all preference, depends on if you are using an AOSP rom or Sense rom. Try them out for yourself and then decide, everyone gets different results.
I'm just throwing this out there we can only overclock our phones a wee bit and it for me at least destroys battery life.

honestly you could probably get away with just installing some of the AOSP kernels floating around the Dev threads...I LOVE invisibleks line of kernels, #28 is a champion for me...but I believe the new Tiamat line of kernels is concentrating on aggressive undervolting...I would give them a try
Might try that... it's weird, coming from an Eris, there's definitely a more professional way about this forum. BUT (big but).... the ROM's seems to be overall more incomplete and I am worried about losing somee functionality. So installing a Kernel would be my best bet I guess.... being I would retain all the functionality of the stock ROM.
Hope I make sense.
Oh the other thing is... when a kernel is AOSP compatible, that means stock ROM also right?

The kernel wouldn't change anything, javascript not working is a rom/browser issue. Totally software related. Kernels have to do with hardware functionality

Can u overclock the dinc and if u can how do u do it. Thanks in advance
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
There are a couple of ways to overclock the dInc, but it depends on which kernel you use and what ROM you have. For froyo, Ziggy's are probably the best. Tiamat is very nice for AOSP gingerbread. An app called SetCPU can be found for free to XDA members on here. Just Google it. There's also a couple free apps on the market. If you're still using froyo, I suggest only Ziggy's because his will allow you to use scripts to change the speed and the voltage at every step and he lays it all out very nicely, including samples that you can just edit and mix together. The benefit of the script is it doesn't use system resources like an app would.
Pushing it to 1.153 should be hard with most kernels so long as they aren't undervolted. Some devices are stable at 1.19 and some even higher. Few will exceed 1.19 though. Overclocking and tweaking kernels can be an interesting thing. Most kernels with a sysfs or ramdisk will allow some kind of scripting. Definitely check out Chad's IncrediControl.
Another good kernel for ASOP Roms (both gingerbread and Froyo) is Incredikernel. Always check and see if the Rom you want to overclockable and if it doesn't say in the OP ask the creator of the Rom, they'd be happy to help you out. Also, make sure you know the correct way to flash a kernel. It's the same way you flash a Rom, so it shouldn't give you any trouble. Happy Flashing and Overclocking!

None of the gingersense ROM's will be overclockable until HTC releases the kernel source. Which will happen sometime after we get the OTA. So it's either Froyo Sense or AOSP Gingerbread if you have to overclock.

I have found if the ROM is developed well enough, overclocking is not needed. You wont see too many benefits.

On 3G, not really. On fast WiFi or LTE, yes. That's when you're looking at situations where the device isn't waiting for data. That's where you'll see the bigger benefits of overclocking.

Doesn't really matter. Quadrant, linpack... you're comparing same setup to same setup. An overclock on one isn't going to yield comparatively different results when compared to any other... at least it SHOULDN'T.
This may be a stupid question...I am having trouble with all the kernels and ROMs determining what is a safe OC for my DInc. I am flashing CM7.0.3 now and I read that it's got OC built-in. I just wanted to OC to whatever is definitely safe. Is that 1.113 GHz or 1.153 GHz as indicated earlier in the thread?
Or is it something I'm going to have test on my device to see if it exhibits a specific symptom?

Every kernel dev has his own choices for kernel voltage and that's usually the single biggest variable in what stable will be. 1.113 should be stable for most devices though.
Thanks for the responses. I tried 1.113 on CM7 (7.0.3) on my Incredible and I started getting constant reboots. I put it back to 998. Maybe I'll try another setting later.

This will NOT work on stock-based roms. If you'd like, I can post one for them later today. No guarantee it will work though. I don't run stock.
And I don't know what you are talking about. I've been running CM7 since late December. I have no bugs, it is butter-smooth, everything works, and best of all...being CM7, it is themable anyway you wish. For example, CM7 with the Lucid theme found here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sonny.theme.lucid&hl=en
is beautiful. Add some ICS themed widgets, and it looks like you are running something even prettier than ICS.
No problems with battery life either. Been getting 18 hours according to Battery Left with a 1.8Ghz OC. You keep saying CM7 is an Alpha but quite honestly, there aren't any bugs on it (provided you keep the GPS on).

Irll give you a flasha le zip if there were no.errors. Nandroid backup and flash. Walla!!!! Ics transitions. Ive done this before and seriously takes a max of an hour dependong on how many requests the kotchen is taking. Ive learbed to be resourceful and figure things out on my own. Also it doesnt hurt to check out the Android apps section in General. There are some good guides there for building base roms, theming and kitchen, building ziPS, extracting stuff. All those mods you guys ask the devs to incorporate are there and most are noob friendly.
