Hey all
Something strange happened with my HD this morning.
At 5:30 the battery level was 90 %.
I wanted to test the battery drain, by leaving Mobile Data on,
and have Current Widget make a log file.
When i woke up at 11:30 the phone was dead. The battery
was completely empty....
I looked at the log file of Current Widget, and everything
was normal. Battery use was 3-5 mA, with the occasional spike to 50 mA,
where it prob. updated something.
Then at 07:36 it used 54 mA, and was on 86 %, and then nothing.
It died. And the battery was empty......
From 86% to zero in under 1 minute ?!?
Has anyone ever heard of such a thing ?
I'm on Core Droid 6.3, with Kernel Leedroid 2.6.35.13
Baseband : 12.54.60.2SU_26.09.04.11_M2
Have never had any problems before, and didn't install anything new...
Thanx for any help.
Maybe a battery calibration is in place?

3 things:
-you wake up at 11:30???? great hour!lol
-when you flashed your current rom you did wipe battery status?
-maybe there is some openned apk´s? take a look in settings-- process in progress
-if the problem persists and you can´t solve it i recommend to you do will wipe
reflash the rom, wipe batt. status & use batery calibrator tool

Thank You guys.
I did wipe Battery Status, and it has been running with no problem, and with
great battery life for about a week.
What freaked me was, that it happened so fast. According to Current Widget's
log file anyway.
From 86% to dead in under 1 minute.
Sounds imposibble. Just hope it never happens again
It has been running fine all day, with minimal battery use....
Thanx again, guys.

Hi! Before i have got a drain of 3-6 mA with most of the roms, but suddenly all roms dain 16-20 mA. No matter if it is MIUI , cm7 or sense roms. They all have the same drain .. is my battery bad ?
Got my phone waterdamaged 2 weeks ago , but this bad battery time started yesterday...
First you need to calibrate the battery.
Charge your phone until Current Widget shows 0mA. Then go into recovery and delete battery stats. Let the phone discharge until it shuts down by itself, then charge until it is back to 0mA. That will calibrate the battery.
Secondly, new ROM's do take a few days to "learn" how to use the battery most efficiently so you wont get the best battery life instantly.

I know that ROM´s need a few days , but i have waited a few days ,and noticed that it is allways the same drain... But i will try calibrate my battery next
And please make sure that during the period of charging it the second time that you do not take it off the charger. That will mess up the calibration and you will have to start all over again.
you might want to try a new radio too
same for me. I tried everything I could.
I tried these roms:
-coredroid
-ARHD
-honey
-virtuous
-MIUI(current)
I tried these methods:
-multiple new recommended radio + ril
-battery calibration app + clear battery stats(recovery) @ 100%.
-full wipe 1.5
-re-root(hack kit v12.3)
-different kernels
When I first rooted my phone battery was perfect on any roms until I flashed ARHD,thats when my battery drainage happened.

how many hours you are getting now....with regular usage ????
I'm getting the same here... Started with ARDH too, then LeeDroid, now Virtuous.
Clean installs each time, apps restored using Titanium. Also re-flashed the recommended Radios too and calibrated the battery once.
Current drain is 15% / hour on Standby ~70+mA.
I noticed no unusal Wake Locks either.
I'm loving Virtuous, but thinking to go back to stock if the new Viruous update doesn't solve this.
Just whilst typing this I lost 2% :-(
Yeah this is no fun...

Merci! I have already follow-up this way. I'll try again.
I don't have CM7 I have MS2Ginger 2.1 but I have the same problem. My battery drops 2 times: from 54--> 49 and from 25-->19...I had the same problem when I was using MIUIs and cm7 ROMs.
I think that the battery is just dead in those areas :-(
What does it mean "the battery is just dead in those areas" because when I use this rom (umts_jordan_emara-user 2.3.6 4.5.1-134_DFP-139 1318560162 release-keysEPU93_U_00.60.00) no problem.
Hmmm...Well Im goin to try this ROM too then.
I thought my battery cells were dead (smthn similar was on my notebook and when I replaced battery, everything was just fine) but if u say that everything is fine then I will try out that one.
Tnx.
Have u tried that CM7 ROM with different battery maybe?

No. I have my defy+ since November so the battery is new. I have only try ms2 ginger2.1 with the same problem. Only with motorola oem rom no problem like this.
I have erased files in /data/battd/ and wipe stats battery (i don't now if is the same things). I will come back after this test.
Try recalibrating with the method in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11803458
I've used this many times without issues and it always helps with my battery life. With the Defy you have to follow the method that requires reinserting the battery before the lockscreen pulls up.
So after doing steps 1-5 then 6 then do we have to do step 7?
I didn understand you when is the right time to put back battery? Like in 8b?
After this crazy method, u don't have battery drops?
Skip step 7 and continue following from 8b. Hold your phone in your hand while it's booting without the battery and you should feel the haptic feedback (minor vibration) before the phone finishes booting to the lock screen. As soon as you feel the haptic feedback put the battery back in. Leave on the charger until it reaches 100% and then another 20 minutes after that.

can i use "battery callibration" for step 2 :
"2. Delete /data/system/batterystats.bin" ?
Ok. i confirm this steps works for defy+. Before unplug i have 4198mv and after 4164mv. Now, wait and see.
I have Defy with red lens and installed 2.3.6_4.5.2-109 DHT25_themed MultiLanguage ROM yesterday and fully charge it to 100% and one hour over that...Battery was on 4164mV...When unplugged it 99% and 4164mV.
But then i had like this:
54% - 3769mV
50% - 3757mV
49% - 3773mV
48% - 3760mV
...
...
27% - 3686mV
20% - 3692mV
19% - 3670mV
18% - 3679mV
Funny thing is that when gaps happened lower % has more mV than upper % ...
I will try this "new weird" method of calibration tomorrow when I fully charge my phone again tonight. Really hope this will fix my battery.
my defy on Cm 7.1 stable and i get 4160mV on 100% charged and still plugged in to electricity.
but after i unplug the charger, it downs to 99% - 4125mV..
i think i'll try that 'hard' calibration method

i have a noob question for all: is it possible that the last 20% charge (80 -100) with a 1650 defy battery and rom not based on stock rom, be 'virtual', because i have 20% lost (69%-49%)? (sorry for my english)
Now i decide to put a new Battd file from the stock rom and i try again this hard calibration: charg at 100%. after step 8 i see 5% and 4317mv.
(100% full for defy+ battery is approximately 4320mV)

Anyways, have you filled your sd card up by anychance?
i ask as i notice massive battery drains if i have less that 1gb left on the card, the phone becomes hot and sluggish.
it runs slower than android 1.5 on the g1, and is impossible to use. once i managed to delete the files it took my phone about a hour to stabilize again.
just a thought
Wipe all caches and then wipe your battery stats.
Then give your phone a few charge cycles for the battery to stabilize. Things will definitely improve.
i'm not filled the sd card and ok i can try to wipe all caches (already did about 10 times .. lol but why 2 days ago with 6.1.0 all worked fine and yesterday when i flashed the 6.1.1 battery drain is heavy and even if i go back to 6.1.0 battery drain still persist.. it's strange very strange..
you must have something running in the background which is keeping your phone awake even when your phone is screen off. go to the thread here download the app and fully charge your phone again and use it as normal and keep checking the app specially in the partial wakelocks and see what drains the battery the most..it will be the first thing on the list.
and then when you check the screenshots post them in that thread to get some more help and explanation on what is eating your battery
i'll try with the app but the thing is strange because i've the same apps installed than before this happening
hi,if your android rooted, try "One Power Guard" download from onexuan.com,It can help you extend battery life .

How much does your Jellytime ROM drain from battery? Using battery e.g. Battery monitor widget, I can see 60mA drain when phone is standby. Seems to be a lot for me. I didn't find comparsion just subjective claims - high/low drain. 60mA is with wifi turned off, bt disables, no gprs/3g data, just standby. No application seems to be running. Battery stat shows that 60 % is display (but I can confirm that display is off), 40 % cell stand by and about the same amount phone idle.
You can try BetterBatteryStats to check what might be draining your battery (if any).

Thanks, I will try it. So far I was using Battery Monitor apk. However, I have no reference if my battery drain level is expected for that rom or not.
I'm also having issues with battery drain on JT... really strange. It seems to have drain when in standby, and when the screen is on it goes like crazy, I can't get more than like 20-30 minutes of screen-on time. I really like this ROM, it is pretty stable and works fine, no major bugs but the battery drain is crazy. I took a couple of screenshots. It seems that process Media is keeping it "awake" and causing battery drain. In all other ROMs I used (and in stock) I have never seen any other process except SCREEN using more than couple of percent of battery. Now this media process is using almost as screen! Any clues as what it is?
Also, I noticed that it discharges quickly when screen is on, but it also charges quickly! Something wrong with battery stats? It simply can't go from 20% to 70% in 10 minutes while charging?

Hmm, could you provide mA value (battery monitor shows it in history in 10 minutes intervals..)
I can do five hours with normal use on a full charge..
These are battery stats for my DHD. The first one is standby over night with stok HTC ROM (2.3.5), the second one is with JellyTime ROM 9.1. It takes 10times more power.

Yes, but my cost for 2-3 days is: no gsm data, no wifi (or wifi for something like 5 minutes), no widgets except htc clock & weather, almost no background apps, few phone calls, moderate number of sms. (Yes I hear you saying, you don't need 'smart' phone , I do, I use some apps but not too frequently, so avg running time from 100% to say 10% of battery was 2-3 days, mainly depending on number of sms sent
I had it charged to 100%. Then I kept it charging, went to recovery and deleted battery stats. I booted and when it displayed lock screen I unplugged. yes media service seems to be suspicious. It says, the phone was in deep sleep only half an hour for last hour while screen on was really only for about 10 minutes. I think the problem is in remaining time. I am not really familiar with bbs logs, maybe post the log into BBS thread here on XDA for help if you cannot figure it yourself.

There is no need for wiping battery stats.
Once your phone recharges to 100%, battery stats reset by default.

Ok, I figured out, what is causing high battery drain. It FM radio. After clean flash and basic setup, it consumes 10mA when standby. Which is twice more than with stock ROM, but seems to be acceptable. If I run and then exit Sprite FM radio app, phone starts to consume 60mA until reboot. After reboot, it is ok, until I run Sprite FM app again.
However, BBS does not show anything useful. Maybe because of FM HW keeps running? There is shown no SW battery eater..
I still can't figure it out Here's log of consumptuon in standby from last night, I have it set on profile manager to turn off data and set airplane mode from 1am-7am. Looks good to me, can someone confirm these are OK values?

But look at the 2nd attached screenshot, at the end of the graph - how fast it charges, isn't that unusual?
Code:
2012/09/24|00:28:43|587mA|60%|4182mV|34.0ºC|.258|1
2012/09/24|00:29:43|529mA|60%|4182mV|34.0ºC|.100|1
charging at rate 500-600mA, is it external charger? I do charging on ntb and it's up to 400mA when battery is not close to 100%.
Code:
2012/09/24|00:39:43|-61mA|60%|3869mV|32.0ºC|.256|2
2012/09/24|00:49:43|-11mA|59%|3960mV|27.0ºC|.0|0

2012/09/24|01:39:43|-13mA|58%|3955mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
seems to be of slight using or runnign backgroud processes this hour?
Code:
2012/09/24|01:49:44|-7mA|58%|3955mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
2012/09/24|01:59:43|-7mA|58%|3955mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
2012/09/24|02:09:43|-7mA|58%|3955mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
this is expected consumption, with stock HTC ROM I got -3 - -5mA, but -7mA is pretty good. With R10 I got -10mA, don't know why it does sleep less than it should.
Code:
2012/09/24|06:46:44|-210mA|53%|3740mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
2012/09/24|06:56:44|356mA|57%|4187mV|24.0ºC|.3|6

2012/09/24|07:10:44|-254mA|51%|3721mV|24.0ºC|.1000|0
what happened here? -264mA is a lot of power consumption, do you remember what did you do? Common usage should be around -100mA.
Hello, yesterday I downloaded and installed Battery Monitor Widget (for mA monitoring). I went to bed, my phone was 100% charged. Today I checked log and I found, something started fast drain my battery at 7:42:06 AM.
Is there any way how to find that app?
Have 4.1.2 without root and my device automatically starts airplane mod from 03:00 - 07:00.
Thank you
Try better battery stats.

just bought Better Battery Stats so I hope I'll find a problem
OK, so I charged my device to 100%. Here is log from Battery Monitor Widget and screens from Better Battery Stats.
At 16:52:06 I started GPS navigation Waze for 10-15 minutes.

Sorry but I can't seem to figure out what is eating your battery. Maybe leave it for a longer time to make it more clear.

OK, so yesterday I flashed my device again with stock rom and all wipes. Now statistics are good I think.
Yep can say.
