Hi,
Updated to gingerbread 2 days ago on my Desire HD and the Wireless / Data connections have gone mad and draining battery!!
I use green power free to manage my connections and have been getting up to 2 days on one charge, moderate usage.
I am now on my 4th charge in 48 hours since update. Last night phone was 100% charged at 10pm this morning at 6:30 it was off and no charge.
It does not seem to be able to decide between wireless or data connection and keeps switching between the 2. I have turned green power off. No difference. If I try to manually switch off wireless etc through settings it just comes back on again???
Any ideas?? (I'm unbranded on Orange contract)
Same problem here after GB update.
Phone is NOT rooted.
I hope someone has a solution for this problem.
The solution for me was to remove 'Green Power Lite' app. There seems to be a conflict with the app and the mew gingerbread wireless management.
I have had my phone off the charger for 48 hours now and have just hit the red.

ok, over the last week or so ive had this issue, gradually getting worse...
my battery will charge to around 40-45% and then charging will slow right down.
two hours later, it will be on around 50% if im lucky, and about 3 more further hours before i hit 60% (this is some of the time, other times, it just remains on its current charge%)
if i leave it overnight for about 10hours or so, highest it goes to now is about 73%, but this is rare, usually 45-50%ish.
ive tested with htc ac wall charger, htc usb, blackberry charger, car charger and a random microusb wallcharger. all have same issue.
when tested with two friends desire hd's on different days, my battery charged perfectly, and at the normal gradient speed over the % range. and my phone reads it correctly at the 100%-98% when back in my phone after change back.
i thought it was down to my phone, just dont know if its rom or hardware. shud i factory restore, or claim on insurance?
i have another issue here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18480603&posted=1#post18480603
which also applies to the question of restore or insurance...
thanks
What Rom are you using, i am using runny 2.2 only 62% charge in 6 hours
9 hours later on battery only upto 68% i have amazing battery life now
i'm using runny 2.2.....left it on charge for 2 hours with phone on, but wifi and everything off and it had only gone up 2% ! !
Turned phone off and plugged in charger, 30 mins later, only went up 1% ! !
72% charge at this point.
So took it off charge, put it in my pocket, went upstairs to bed, turned it on to set alarm and it said 100% on battery....weird!!

Lol this is an issue with calibration. The battery is charging but the software doesnt report it.
You have to charge the phone for as long as possible so you know it is on 100% whether the software says it or not, go into CWM, wipe the battery stats and then let the battery drain fully until it shuts down by itself. Then plug it in and leave it until you know for certain it is at 100%. If the green light comes on leave it for an additional half an hour. Then it will be fixed.
ive only recently got this handset, as last one was replaced on insurance a month or so ago, and its runuing on stock rom with latest updates....?
Hello All
Suddenly have this very annoying problem. Did a quick search, but did not find anything similar.
I have had my Desire for about 18 months and had no problems at all. Updated to the most recent Android version from HTC when it was released some months ago (2.3.3) - no problems there either.
However, over the last couple of days the batter usage has just gone completely stupid.
The battery used to last a good few days before being charged, - this would include normal day to day use - texting, checking emails a few phone calls etc. Each night I would turn off the mobile part to conserve battery.
But now it only lasts about 20 hrs and that is just being left idle - not doing any surfing, mobile checking, phone calls or texting (the mobile part is turned off) Basically just being left on a shelf and not being touched at all. If I do actually do any basic phone stuff then the battery drops even more to basically half a days worth. - Useless.
Thinking it was a bad app I decided to do a complete factory reset - did not add any new apps, just left it in its reset form and it still does not last very long.
Looking at the battery usage this is the results - Call Standby 43%, Phone Idle 43%, Display 9% and Android OS 5%
Any suggestions? Has the battery gone? Do they usually just go like this, or do they normally slowly decrease?
Your suggestions please.
18 months hmmm , since you have already tried looking for a bad app , am pretty sure its the battery that needs replacement mate
Would have asked you to change Rom once if you were rooted
No my handset is not rooted - basically just as it came from my provider (except the official HTC 2.3.3. upgrade)
I wish mine lasted 20 hours. Mine is almost 2 years old and I’m lucky if I get 12-15hours. And if I get to 20% the phone just dies
Batteries get worse after time and they can’t hold as much charge as before so a getting a new battery is a good idea.
Just ordered one on Play for abot £8 - hopefully that will last me the last few months of my contract
Well I got a new battery yesterday (HTC Manufacture) and it does not look too good: (The only app I have installed since a factory reset is Batterylife from curvefish)
This is my usage:
Fully charged 100% at 4pm. Turned on mobile data, checked email, made 2 text messages.
left phone alone, no calls, no texts, no emails.
Checked phone at 8pm. Battery down to 84%. Turned off mobile data and left phone alone till the morning.
Checked phone at 7am. Battery down to 40%.
Checked phone at 9am. Turned on Mobile data, checked email.
Checked phone at 11.30am. Made 6 text messages, checked email. Battery down to 29%
Checked phone at 1.45pm. Battery down to 17%
At this rate it will not last 24 hrs, on what seems to be very very light use.
Any suggestions.
Just thought this may be of interest - (or not)
Contacted VirginMedia regarding the battery issue. Ended up sending the handset back to them to be fixed. As it turns out they acknowledged the handset had a problem, but were unable to fix it, so sent me out a new handset.
So far - it was fully charged friday evening and I still have 40% battery left today (Monday) so I am back to a good working phone.
I have been using MildWild CM7 for a couple weeks and have been having good battery life(lite usage). However 2 days ago I upgraded my wireless router to a wireless N and the battery life of my phone has dropped. I went down 30% in 9 hours of the phone just sitting there. this is not normall. When I installed it I changed the setting the turns wireless off when the screen is off(I did this right after I installed the rom). Is it possible the wireless N is causing it to drain faster? and is there a way to disable wireless N on the phone?
My S3 is normally have really great battery life with disabling unnecessary features and turning off unnecessary functionality. With normal use and with wifi one it has battery life more than a 36 hrs. But at work because of poor signals I hardly gets 20 hrs. and I can understand that problem with poor signals.
But, Ones and while battery dies in 3- 4 hrs. I fully charged my cellphone at night and took the charger off mid night Battery at 40% in 4 hours. without use , where no application or wifi, data plan running. and many time it just die if I don't get up in midnight. This happen so randomly no proper time duration. some time no issue for month or week. Some times I seen this behavior in day time, phone got really hot... I just restart phone and it will fix the issue.
I didn't root my phone running on Jelly beans. Should I contact Samsung or bestbuy from where I purchase.

This is a daily problem for me ever since I bought my device so I got used to it. Rooting the device with a stripped down ROM fixed my battery life issue. But I reverted to stock in anticipation of the 4.1.2 update for the i747.
I did read through a bunch of battery issue threads. But I think mine is unique. At least I didn't see anything.
When used normally, battery life seems to be typical. With moderate usage, I get about 6-8 hours or so.
However, I switch phones alot (currently building a new website, including mobile) so I have been using my One X with no sim card. Airplane mode with wifi on. Doing so, after about an hour or so of only using the phone a minute here and a minute there (just to test my website changes) the phone will use about 30-40% of its battery.
But the worst thing is; when I am done, I power off the phone. Most recently it had 60% charge when I shut it down on Thursday. Today I went to power it on, and the battery was dead. To the point it wouldn't even power on when I plugged it in. It took about 20 minutes before it had enough charge to power on. I checked usage, and Google Services is 72%, Android OS 8%, Chrome 5%, Internet 4%, HTC Sense 1%, Android System 1%.
When I charge it, it will only charge as USB. Even using the usb cable and plug that came with it, it won't charge as AC like my Nexus would. Which isn't a huge deal, but it takes most of the day for it to fully charge.
I was just wondering if the above is all normal. I bought it used. It's a stock AT&T phone. No rooting or customization. OS is up to date.
