Just wondering if the screen on my epic should come on after you slide open your phones keyboard i used to slide open keyboard to wake the phone up, but after flashing to EE03 rom this no longer happens? So is this feature removed in the rom or should i reflash ?
thanks in advance for any help
I had the same problem when I tried ED12 briefly. It was very sporadic too. sometimes, once out of a hundred tries, it would work but 99% of the time it did not.
Yes those are exact figures, I'm not exaggerating
okay, maybe a little..

Even with EC05 it would act kinda wierd when trying to wake by just sliding keyboard out, like screen flashing twice or lagging to wake, but it still came around eventually

Capacitive Touch acting up ever since OTA update w/ unlock pattern &Onscreen Keyboard
Has anyone else had problems with their touch input since the OTA update? When I enter my unlock pattern, there a 33% chance it gets screwy with my input, and I must hit the power button to enter it into standby, then turn it back on again in order to get it working.
Also, sometimes when I use the second function letter keys on the onscreen keyboard, (example "k" is also "?" if held down for a second) the second function key does not appear. Upon holding, it just shows the hovering letter ("k" for example) and then it disappears while still holding down.
This happens I'd say 50% of the time.
Anyone else having these problems?
Can a MOD please move this to the EVO 4G General Section, my bad

Anytime I run a custom rom based off the ota my screen acts crazy..
Sometimes it has a mind of its own and starts pressing stuff by itself..
I've heard others mention it also but apparently not enough people for anyone to look into it though.

Thanks for your input!
I am running stock though, weird huh?
I'm not too worried, the Froyo update should fix it

mine isnt stock but it is the same ota as you version wise so it has to be something in there.
mine does this too!!!!!!!
seems like everytime I open a text message and go to respond, the keys dont work. I can feel the haptic feedback but no text is entered. I have to exit the app and reenter.. Its not only in Messages, but all apps. Other buttons on the screen seem to work, but the buttons do not.
anyone else been noticing this?
Yup!
I've noticed it most typing in the text box of forums... though it is inconsistent.

Yeah mine does that too and it takes a few seconds to get out of the loop then it can type again. Kinda weird wonder if any fix to this.
Keyboard Issues
+1 to this issue
One exception: My keyboard is typing but it doesn't visually show what I'm typing. When I close the keyboard and reopen it the words I typed then show, but nothing typed further will show unless I close the keyboard and reopen it again.......Again this issue is inconsistent.
I've only had this issue since the 2.2 update.
Anyone got a fix yet?
is anyone running the Overclock widget? It seems like once the message pops up "overclock widget has been granted superuser permissions" everything returns to normal... until I go to respond again ahhhhh
i have the same problem i was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it i thought my phone was goin bad really quickly because i like just got it a couple weeks ago but i dont know what the deal is
if i goto messages i can press all the keys and nothin comes up and if i go to landscape the box is gray and i feel it has to kick in later
another problem i have been having is when i click on to call someone itll call them like 20 seconds later instead of immediately anyone else get this problem too?
i find that if I turn the phone into landscape mode, click the bubble, then turn the phone right side up again.. It works... seems more like a software bug then anything.. or something to do with the sensors.
My friend's Evo running stock FroYo has had this problem. I haven't seen it, but I am running a custom rom. I wonder if that makes a difference.

Have u guys tried a different keyboard? Like the Droid x keyboard?
I'm on fresh too and I notice this bug. Only in messages though.

I'm running stock froyo and this happens quite often to me as well. If I wait a few seconds after I notice nothing typing on my screen it will eventually catch up and let me type normally again. This happens daily.

What keyboard are people using? I thought it was a Swype thing, but it sounds like the problem is more general.

Yea it is a general problem i uninstalled all my keyboards and have the stock one and i still get the same problem
All of a sudden regions of my screen are not responding to touch and it seems like the calibration is off. For instance, when typing, the backspace is always typing the letter 'L' above and I'm unable to pull the notification bar down (it thinks I'm touching below it).
Is my phone toast, or is there a way to recalibrate the screen?
Did you try the touch calibration under language and keyboard? Are you stock, rooted sense, or AOSP?
Sent from my Droid.
I'm rooted, on Aerovan's CM7.2. About 5 minutes ago the notification bar was working fine, but then I locked the phone and it stopped working again. When I touch the notification bar, it thinks I'm touching below it.
I've tried formatting and loading default CM7.2 to no avail. Dipped phone in dry rice all last night to no avail.
Not sure what to try at this point. I can't find any calibration tools in the Settings, including the one in the keyboard/input area.
also happening for me

I haven't run CM7.2 for a while, so I can't remember if there is a keyboard calibration like in Sense (I'm on SkyRaider Zeus). Hopefully someone running it can chime in.
Unfortunately I can't even find Skyraider to download. But this screen issue is bugging me BIG TIME. I have a dialer in the launcher bar at the bottom left that responds when I touch it. If I'm in an app however and touch that area, it doesn't respond.
WTF is going on?!
I've tried reformatting on clean CM7.2 and CM9. Stock is my last hope...

I got skyraider 1.3 from their website but pull down goggles and set up just force closes. I am not the only one. Think they uploaded a bad zip I would love to try again if it worked. I downloaded twice and seen a post today I am not the only one with this issue.
Dude I have so many issues like that, even on pure stock. Idk...but on cm9 I had some serious issues

Hello. My haptic buttons (4 bottom touch buttons) are sometimes unresponsive. Sometimes when i'm using the browser I'll get stuck in it for a few seconds. And often after unlocking the phone they are also unresponsive. I just move my fender around the screen to make it come back. It's not a big issue but it is annoying.
Is there a fix? thanks!
running super galaxy 1.5 rom
bump. no one having this issue? =[

Ive had it a few times when i start the phone back up in the morning, only seems to happen to me when in not usung it, i believe i read somewhere that this was an ics issue...ive found somewhat of a fix by going to settings/display and setting hardkeys to always on....drains a bit more battery but your problem will happen so rarely afterwards itll become a non issue..hope that helps! If it did, flash my rom and visit my thread!!!!

I've had this on ICS on occasion as well, after waking the phone up. I do the same thing - move my finger around to get them to come on.
I can't find hardkeys always on options. can be it same as tough key light always on?

This isn't an ICS issue. It happens on custom AND stock GB as well.
Often, you can make them responsive again by hitting one of the volume keys, too.
I doubt its a hardware issue... It must be a driver issue.
I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else. So sometimes I go to unlock and the screen doesn't let me do anything, it happens not just when unlocking but when I'm using the phone too, it's really annoying when I'm trying to text someone back or try to answer a call. It doesn't happen all the time so I could live with it....but I'm wondering if anyone has a fix or has the same problem.
Also I have my phone rooted and g3 tweaksbox, and I turned off the knock in code..I don't know if any of these have factors.

Is it lag? Does it only happen for a few seconds before it starts again?
It's not lag..I don't think unless it's a really long lag ?... I turn my screen on and off and it would still be frozen. Maybe after a few mins of turning the screen off and on again it will work...

Sounds faulty i think.I'd get the phone freezing for a few seconds before it responded, but that was lag.
Aww man that would suck if it was... That's the only problem I have!

i had this problem..it would lock up..freeze and i had to wait for a min or so to come back to life..a hard reset fixed it
Oh okay! That is good to know...I guess I'll be trying that soon
I have the same issue as well.
It's not that the screen "stopped" working. It works, except there's no update on the screen. As if the entire phone is frozen, but it's still giving me haptic feedbacks. Except, actions aren't being reflected on the UI; things like, tapping home navbar button, doesn't take me to the launcher, tapping up/back doesn't take me to the previous screen. I can lock/unlock the phone, but I'd return to the whatever page of the app that corresponds to the back/up command I previously made.
I think, the easiest way I can summarize this is that the OS stopped doing visual updates, while there's actually stuff going on despite that "stuck" screen.
