So in the past week I've come to really enjoy the new Google Music app and have been using it as my main music player. Unfortunately, since I've upgraded to EE03, the app is broken. I read somewhere that it has something to do with how Samsung edited the mediaprovider file. I don't know if this is true or not but does anyone have a workaround to make it work? If not I guess I'll go back to doubletwist or something but I figured it's worth asking!

Did anybody else notice in the preview videos that the Music Beta app is the only music player on the phone? I don't currently own a phone that is supported by the Music Beta app but I thought when you download this app, it lives alongside the default music player, not replace it? But it looks like in ICS the old music player no longer exists and the Music Beta player is the default one?
Yeah. I dont know why you'd want the old one anyway... the new one is much much much better.
Why not? It can play local and cloud music files. It's the only one I use on my phone and tablet.
Just curious what Google's plans are for Music Beta going forward. If it's now the default music app on Android, then it's less likely that Music Beta is going to end up being canceled like Wave or Buzz. So you guys can confirm that on existing devices, Music Beta is an app that's in addition to the default music app?

I think it's integrated into the music app itself. I'm just beginning to upload my music to it now and, I think it's something i should have done from the beginning. As much as I switch devices, it can be nice to have.
They live side-by-side on my Continuum, but that's with adding Music Beta as a Market App, instead of a stock app.
You can remove the old one with root explorer on gingerbread. It's not needed. no point in have 2 apps, with one that does the functions of both.
Google Music is a Gapp that sits right next to GMail.
If a company doesn't want it, they'll use the AOSP music source, or load up their own.
You can disable Google Music syncing in the settings, or just use a different music app (in which there are plenty.)

Anyone else finding problems with this?
Noom/CradioTrainer and SpeakToIt (Assistant) are 2 apps I use that can use music/playlists on the phone, neither of these apps can find any music or playlists but both apps claim to work fine with "stock" Android music players.
These are just 2 apps I use, I'm sure others use different apps that use music on the phone, how are you finding them?
Is there anything that can be done by the user to rectify this?
is there anything I can go back to the developers with to help it work better?

The package name of the new Music app is different from the old one. The developers just need to update their apps to send the Intents to the right package.

do you know what it is?
and would it affect backwards compatibility?

Actually, nevermind, I was wrong, it's not an Intent, it's a ContentProvider that hasn't changed in ICS, so I'm not sure why apps stopped being able to query playlists...
Those apps wouldn't be able to find your music from the Google music app anyway because that music comes from the cloud. Unless you pin your music from the Google music app, those songs wont store to your phone for the other apps to pick up.

The Adidas miCoach app still picks up playlists from the Music app fine, so it must be something to do with the apps you're using.
Managed to get deezer working as an orange swap able on my nexus. This gives me a premium account and therefore the ability to download tracks for offline listening. Very impressed so far. Music choice seems varied but bear in mind I'm 40 so my tastes might not be everyone's ....
The android app seems a little clunky and I can't see any way to play downloaded tracks in any other app.... has anyone managed this???
To get the swap able working use dolphin browser and convince it you are on a GS2. Will post the string later if anyone is interested ......
I've been very impressed with the deezer service.
I to looked for a way to play offline music in another app. My guess is the deezer app caches the files in an unreadable format. Similar to how google music does. There is an app available now that is able to convert cached files from google music into a readable format and let you play them in another music application. I doubt it would work with deezer. But someone could release something similar.

Struggling to understand how the "my mp3s" bit works. It doesn't seem to find existing music on my phone and half the instructions are in french
it didnt find any of my music.
I have a question for you guys. Can you play songs on the Deezer website? I'm getting really frustrated with how it changes all the time!
At first I couldn't, then it started working for a few weeks. Then it stopped working again for a couple of weeks. And then since then I've been using the Deezer website for unlimited music for ages. At least I think that's how it's been, basically it's been on and off!
Now today I went to play music and it had put me on to a free account and I had to activate my Orange subscription (for like the 3rd time now, does it do this every month or something?!), and now I can't listen to music on the website. It's killing me because I use it allll the time on my laptop!
if it is still actual:
i've been looking into the files deezer stores lately and found out:
they are mp3s!
they just hash them before they save them and then somehow decode them when it's playing.
if someone is interrested to know more about it and understands java quite good let me know and i'll hook you up with the info you need
I'd be interested in finding out how to save the hashed MP3. There are quite a few albums on there I've downloaded and as I swap my phone regular but the limit on freezer mobile devices is two.
Cheers

Any news?
Hi guys.
Any news on deezer decrypting music?
I also found out they're mp3-s, but can't get a way to dehash them by any possible chance, Anyone had any luck?
Regards
I am on the hunt for the best music playing app. I currently use Google Music, as it is one of the best I have used to date. My problem is with the new limitation on devices I am eventually no longer going to be able to use it because I flash new roms all the time.
I don't want to store all my music on my SD because it is not exactly the most efficient way for me. I want to be able to stream my library just like the way Google Music does it, but I can't find anything that works as nice.
I'm sure I will not be the only one that will encounter this problem with the stupid limitation thing.
Any ideas???
I thought Google had fixed that a couple weeks ago? Have you tried checking on the Google Music webpage on your computer?

Yea, Google responded pretty quickly to that uproar

I'm all for Google Music because of the cloud integration. I still find it amazing that I walk around with my 15,000 songs and 100+ playlists in my pocket.
I believe the stock audio player for CM9, Apollo, will also be a market app if I'm not mistaken. Anything from those guys is definitely worth checking out
thanks. I didn't know they fixed it. I cleaned up my device list now. Let's just hope that they don't put a limit on this in the future.
okay so i know this is kind of in the wrong thread but i didn't really know where to put it and you guys have deemed to be pretty helpful.
I recently decided to redo my whole music library and delete/reupload everything to play music. in doing this however i have noticed not everything is tagged properly, mainly album art. which is fine because i can always edit it BUT for some reason the play music web interface won't let me change the art for anything, it just, doesn't work. anyone else getting this?
I've been lately having this problem as well. Must be a problem on Google's end. Regardless, the issue has been here far too long and all my missing artworks are starting to drive me nuts.
EDIT: Guess I accidentally thanked you there.
Album art cover I gave up on that since the first week I got an android phone... always has been an issue for me :/

Looks like the UI has been updated and album art updating has been fixed, for anyone still watching this thread.
