linkify for dolphin in SGS2 - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Not sure if this sould be in the android ge neral section or not. I will post it here in case there is an app and will then know if it is compatible with the SG2.
I want to make links in text form turn into clickable links like we have with linkification or text to link on the PC addons.
If the only way to do it is editing a config file, then I would appreciate the file location and what to edit on it.
Btw. Yes It is rooted and can also use Firefox if it is easier to do.
Edit: I will answer my own question for anyone else interested.
LinkyMobile addon for Firefox is working well for what I was trying to do.

PIE "save picture as" saves very small pixilated picture

Hey all,
I've really been trying to find a solution to this and searched a lot. I think it has something to do with the USER AGENT thing, and changing the registry, but I can't get it to work.
So PIE loads all pictures on the phone, automatically squishing it or formatting it for the hermes screen resolution. That's fine, but when I save the image, it ONLY saves it at that small, pixilated crappy resolution. I can't zoom the picture.
I think this is somehow linked to the whole "can't post on myspace" thing, because I can't post on myspace either haha.
I'm using the Black 2.5 right now, but tried Custel's 1.2 and had the same issue. When I used Black 1.2 or 2.0 it was NOT an issue.
This happens whether or not I use PIE Plus.
I know where the information is on the WIKI showing the reg edit to change the user agent so the web thinks you're using a regular desktop browser, and PIE Plus has this option to change in it's options as well, but it's not doing it.
Is there some other registry key or whatever that i'm missing that tells the internet how to format its information?
Again, I searched and looked and tried and hacked and regged haha, but did not find a definitive answer to this. MUST POST TO MYSPACE ON MY PHONE!!!!
Thanks.
anyone? i'm willing to donate some moolah... i need to figure this out before i hack back down to 1.2

thanks. i don't like opera though. the scroll bar on the right doesn't work at all and i don't like the interface.
the only reason i'm persistent here is because it actually WORKED at one time with no problems! all i did was change the user agent in the reg and it worked after i set it to make the net think it was windows xp.
but on these latest roms, it doesn't work.
i know there has to be a solution here.
thanks though!

scroll bar doesn't work? which version were you using? Also have you tried minimo? Not a fan of it personally but might work for your needs?
minislo is too mo... I mean... yeah.
I bumped back down to black 2.0 and PIE is perfect! man I may have to stay here
there's gotta be a reason it works here and not higher...
sorry to up my own thread,
but with black 3.5 now, the myspace posting works, and gifs work...
but jpegs still display as formatted to the screen size, and when saving the images, they are much smaller in file size and resolution.
for example, a normally 111kb file is only 25k when saved.
there has to be a definitive answer to this!! and i can't be the only one trying to look at po... uh, pictures and they don't display well.
I've noticed this behavior when I have the Cingular proxy enabled. My understanding is the proxy compresses images in order to speed up load times. Once disabled, images appear, and can be saved, as they should be.
Perhaps you have a carrier proxy enabled?
ugh... n00b question of the millenium
how do i disable the cingular proxy from black dymond?

titanium opera panel for opera 10 help

so, I havent found this yet, so Im posting this asking for some help. Im trying to get showaco's opera panel for bookmarks to work with the new opera mobile 10 beta 3, for smartphones. finally got the panel to show after editing the default.plg for my screen res and manually putting it into my cpr. Editted the registry to read what I wanted it to on the default panel. Unfortunately I know little to nothing about writing mortscripts. Someone posted where the bookmarks are kept in opera 10 so I changed that in the mort and where my opera 10 exe. is in it. Seems my knowledge of mortscripts are nill, Im going to assume the mort is suppose to change the first page to the first bookmark and add a page for each bookmark. Unfortunately, I get the panel up and the registry editted, I run my editted mort and it just deletes the the page in the registry so I lose the panel as well.
so does anyone wanna help with this?
edit:
so, thinking again. why stop with opera 10? lets see if we can do this with opera mini. skyfire as well.
The bookmark files are no longer clear text with Opera 10
You would need to be able to read the new format of the bookmark files
so, i guess im going to need a lil more help than just someone who can write a mort huh? lol
I am trying to tackle this..
I would be happy with just using \program files\opera mobile 10\profile\datastorage\6\dials.dat to get the favorites. the problem is since there are non ascii characters in the file I have been unable to read the file into a variable for further manipulation.
Anyone know how to either replace all non ascii characters with spaces using mortscript or any other WM utility???
THANKS!
awesome
good to know someone else is on this as well. i have little to no experience with mort or programming so, its left me limited to only finding the "miracle" answer. after raidzero's post though, it did narrow my search. Ive come across a couple of sites that might help someone with more knowledge in writing something. a couple have an "expression" thats said to filter out non ascii characters. if someone is serious about this let me know and ill post the links. i do most of my searching and posting on my phone so, until we actually get something for our bookmarks that would be a fun task lol

Thanks for the info, the excel one seems like it might work, but doubtful. The rest are all for different languages, if I knew any C I would do it in that and make my whole panel just use native code instead of mortscript..
but I don't. so the search is still on. I know there is someone here that could make a program that just took a file and removed the non printable characters from it!
then it could be called int he mortscript and life could go on. I will check with JMZ, he knows how to do stuff like that I think.
ok, sounds good
alright. sounds like a plan. so if not "C" is there anything else you are familiar with other than mortscript? thatll help narrow my search

I do not know C, well, I can do maybe hello world. but that's about it. For something as simple as a string manipulation it can't be that hard, but you never know.
Maybe I might just download the bloodshed dev C++ IDE (free) and try my hand at it ....
edit: so bloodshed is gone
visual studio I guess, maybe my company has a license for it.
let me know
if not, mine might. also, i might be able to find one cheap. or i might even have a copy. my old man always makes me a copy of everything he buys and downloads so, I got a couple towers of cd's of software i havent even cracked open lol

[Q] IMSDroid

Im very new to the android world and want to talk to my friends on iphone video chat but cant with qik. A good friend told me to use IMSDroid but i do not understand how to use it i searched all through this website and could not find anything. Anyone know how to set it up or do i need to look elsewhere?
They're gonna boot this out of dev but just use Fring.
This goes in the Q&A section, man. But personally, use either Fring or Tango. Tango it less invasive and more intuitive.
Look for tango on the app store
ISMDROID
here is the link to setup IMSDROID, but first you have to open an account on any SIP Server.
Then, look on google.com and search for imsdroid quick star
Sorry, I cant post a link.
Hope that this would help you. Let me know.
Here is link to IMSDroid Site for more info and link to actual apk files Last update was 21hrs ago. Enjoy.

[Q] Widget Modification

Not sure if this belongs here or in the Android Development Forum. I want to modify the SGS2 Digital Clock widget by adding an "onClickpendingIntent"?? (I think that's what its called. Basically I when I tap on the widget I want it to open up a specific app (clockpackage.apk) so that I can access my alarms easily. Currently I am using Weather and Toggle Widget and it has this option built in. I have googled the subject and found a page on how to do it, but I am not a programmer nor a developer so this is way over my head. I know how to open an apk to modify the hdpi images it contains but that's about it. Here is the site that explain(somewhat) how to do it. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3589741/how-to-open-a-application-from-widget-in-android
If someone could give me more info on what xml file I need to create or modify within the apk (and how to create or modify it). I imagine I might only need to insert the specific code into one of the xml files and then insert clock package.apk into the code somewhere and resign the apk, but I want to be sure. Any advice would be appreciated.

Aren't you the same user who asked this in the apps section? I see you're still after it. Except this time with a much thorough study on what you want. I still say an xml edit won't suffice. I could be wrong though. I just thought most things that do with how an app runs require programming. Deccompiling, and recompiling.

Yup, that's me. I tend to be an absolute pest when I'm trying to figure these things out. In my research I found that this modification is possible if you edit the widget.xml file. Only thing is there are two of those in the res folder. Also, what program would I use to edit the xml file. I already have the Java Development Kit installed. To add to that, where in the xml file would I add the lines of code and where in that code where do I add the app name. The site I found doesn't give any of that info.

I'm hoping someone can give you some kind of answer, as I'm looking to do some editing of an .Apk that doesn't release its source code.
Sent from my Samsung Legen-wait for it-dary! 4g
Depends on the modifications you want to make. The person who I emailed about this stated that because its a widget, and said widget has no click to open function already programmed into it, adding an onClickpendingIntent won't interfere with the functionality of the clock, and therefore doesn't require the source code. It might be different in your case depending on what you want to add/change.
Bumping my question. Maybe someone might know a different forum I can post in where I might get someone who can help?

[Q] Launch Youtube App By Default

I know this was asked before, I've looked at the threads. How about getting an answer this time? I'm going to give an example so you can understand my problem if you don't. If i'm in an app like Facebook and a friend posts a link to Youtube, a box come up that says complete action using with a few choices of apps to choose from, none of being the Youtube app. I've included an attachment of the screen shot. How do I get Youtube to appear on that list of complete action using? Is there a code? if there is a code, where do I put it? Is this the right code....Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse("vnd.youtube://" + id);
startActivity(intent);
I don't know what may be wrong, maybe your borked something because mine works fine.

I believe it has to do with the link itself. A lot of times, even though it says you're going to youtube, the link facebook is actually using is a facebook link.
For instance, my wife is a teacher and chipotle was giving out free burritos to all teachers a week or two ago. The link she shared was supposed to be:
ra.chipotle.com/email/13-all-019/13-all-019.htm

It should be easy to see that even though your friend links that crazy cat video directly to youtube, facebook will add their http://www.facebook.com/l/[gibberish]/ to the front of it. When your phone tries to open that link, it sees it as the browser would, to a website (facebook.com), not to youtube. That's why it only gives you browser options, not youtube options.
The problem with trying to set youtube to "see" those links is that this is how facebook links any page. Assuming you could add an intercept to "http://www.facebook.com/l/" to open in youtube (or at least include it in the open prompt), that'll mean all facebook links will have that prompting. That shouldn't be too much of an annoyance, though.
All that being said, I don't know how to add that "intercept" so that youtube is on the prompt. Maybe others can tell you which files to modify.
True...I interpreted it as him just saying that YouTube links would not come up with YouTube in the list
But if you wanted to change it and then choose yourself which links should be open in YouTube, you'd need to change the BroadcastReceiver in the AndroidManifest.xml of the YouTube app to receive all links

Interesting. I'm trying to look through that file on my computer, but my xml editors (read: notepad and notepad++) don't seem to like that file.
But from your explanation, I'm beginning to see that each individual app determines if it's involved in an action. I was hoping there was a mod or app that could "intercept" the requests and let you edit the list right then and there. I was thinking more like Window's "Open with..." command where you can choose any .exe to open a given file. But it appears that you have to modify the apk itself.
If you select the browser ie:dolphin it will then open up the box giving you the choice to select you tube. That is because the link was posted through the browser. If at the point you get to the box with the you tube choice you select it as default it should work from that point on unless you clear cache.

Yup, apps define what actions they wanna receive (scientific term is "Intents" )
And you decompiled the apk first, right?
If it's not specified in the manifest, I don't know of any other way to do it/force it

It seems like a dev could make an app that does just that, though. It could be called "Link Chooser" and it's manifest.xml would indicate that all links open in that program. It would then have it's own whitelist of installed apps and you could indicate which apps you want to open based on link type... I don't even think it'd have to have root access.
Ooohhh, if I had more expertise with android programming, I'd totally make that app and it'd sell like hotcakes on the Play store.
