[Q] wireless tether speed 0.2kb ???

rooted evo running baked snack rom...wireless tether speed is between 0.2-0.4 this is ridiculously slow..can anyone help me out ? why is it so slow ? i really need this function and is the sole reason i rooted. anyone else come across this or know how to fix ? ive tried searching but couldnt find a solution. thanks

are you sure thats speed & not amount of data transferred? if you do not believe this to be true, can you post a screenshot of a speedtest.net showing this tremendously slow speed?

Check your PRI Version its need to be 1.40

OK just check my pri isn't 1.40

thanks for helping me realize my issue guys..one more question though..since i am rooted, is the sprint mobile hotspot free for me ? im scared if i turn it on ill get billed for it

No, it wouldn't be, and you'd probably get pegged for something. I'd just stick with the wireless tether app. It works just fine for me, make sure you're running the latest version, or try a previous version. I'd stay clear of the hotspot if you're not paying for it. If you run Cyanogen mod though, you can use the deafult Android 2.2 hotspot app for free.

[Q] Problems Receiving picture messages???

Just curious if anybody else has this problem when they receive picture text messages. id say 8 out of 10 i receive come through and say failed. then i have to keep hitting the download button until it finally downloads. I always just chalk it up to sprints ****ty service. Is there anything that can be changed to stop this from happening? thanks

+1 I have this same issue. It is annoying. It has happened across different ROMs so I don't think it is ROM specific

No problem, Running Manilla carbon fiber rom, HW 0004 just flashed newest radios and wimax netarchy kernel. 3.30.651.3
But its done it before rooting and flashing roms. Its done it since day one. Im sure it has to be a sprint issue I was just curious if anybody else has this or knows a way to fix it. It is annoying as hell

Is auto receive on, and is data roaming on? Also when does it not download meaning are you at home or out and about

data roaming is on and auto retrieve is on. It does it anywhere. I can be home, in the mall, at work it doesnt matter. Theres no rhyme or reason to it but it does only do it with pics not regular texts.
Also, It does it regardless of signal. I have constant 4g at home and most places and it does it off or on 4g

As I was researching I noticed you said you have hardware 004, I have heard several horror stories about the new hardware version but give me a sec as I continue to research it... what is your prl?

Yeah I saw those but ive heard of people having problems with the new pri and certain roms and kernels. Thats the only reason i havent updated that. And I didnt want to update to the 3.70 unless I had to cause it seems like a pain since im rooted already.

Well Ive updated to new radios and wimax and its still happens but I have found one fix so far that works. When I get a message that doesnt come through if i go into task killer and kill the "messages" and "message uploader" process then try to download the message it will then come through. Hopefully this can help someone else too.

Help......CM7

After I flash this ROM my phone decides it dosent want to obtain a 3G signal and it will not connect to my home network which has excellent signal but instead wants to connect to random open extremley weak networks. Im getting beyond irritated!

Are you running the latest cm7 nightly #36? Why don't you turn on airplane mode then turn it off to see if that fixes it. Is your router a wireless n? If it is make sure its on 2.5 ghz and not 5.0ghz. Reason I said that is because my router can broadcast 2.5 and 5.0 so I have to make sure its 2.5 only.

Flash newest radio updates and update prl. Idk bout the wifi
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.

It was working fine and now it just crapped out.... I did a factory data reset and still nothing... I cant even sync my google account now cause I cant hold a solid 3G or get wifi going.....Ive been updating my profile and PRL. I did the GPSCLR and I dont know if I have the newest radio.... Im just ready to body slam this phone...It was working until I had CM7 flashed and then got a bootloop and had to go back.....

Wow this sounds super strange. Why don't you try going into a sense rom to verify its not your account/phone and then come back to cm7! Maybe sprints network is down. Before you come back to cm7 update your profile a few times. As wifi goes you should get the free wifi analyzer app in the market to see what's the deal with your wifi.
Do you have an airave in your home?

I dont know what to do I went back to the backup I created. It finally let me setup my google account... I really dont understand this. I thought leaving the Samsung Moment and coming to the Evo would be less head aches but this phone is starting to be just as a pain in the ass. Im on sense stock btw with root from unrevoked....

Read through this thread and make sure you're up to date with wimax, pri,prl, etc.

Please make sure you have a back up of your wimax keys before you do anything. The moment is terrible and can't even come close to being placed in the same sentence with the evo. I'm trying to understand whats going on but u need to give a little more details.

Ive had this phone for like a week... Im not sure... All I keep doing is updating PRL and profile... I mean it was working fine an hour ago until I had to go back to the backup I made cause I got stuck in a CM7 bootloop of doom...Any help would be much appreciated.....

Were you trying to flash an alternate kernel on the first cm7 boot? Did you fully wipe in recovery(data, system, dalvik-cache, etc) before flashing the cm7 zip? In settings what radio/baseband are you using?

Roam Control does it work

Hey does anyone know if roam control works with the GS2. Any help would be appreciate it.

Ok i have PRL 60683 and I'm rooted, I have installed raom control 1.7 and how do I know if I'm roaming or not cause I still have my 3g icon there and nothing comes on saying that I'm roaming. I am rooted. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried the same setup and used 1.7 but even though it said it was working, it wasn't. Someone then told me that the newer versions had this issue so I found a copy of 1.4 and now it really does work now.
Find an older copy and you will be good to go!

Pirated versions of the app do not work (except for version 1.4 as you discovered). It's not an issue with the newer versions of the app. Unfortunately the app was pulled from the market, but I'm trying to get it reinstated.

alright thanks please let us know if its back on the market, for now I will try to find version 1.4 and see.

ok looks like version 1.4 is working but why can't I roam for any type of data even 1x is not working.

RC seems a little flakey on my phone. But then switching between 2G and 3G manually on my phone seems a little flakey too. I'm running PRL 11115 and I get 3G roaming. Where I live I have horrible 3G, at nights and weekends I get less then 50Kbps down. I switch to roaming, my phone changes towers and I get 1.3 Mbps. After toggling roaming, I reboot and then I can get 3G roaming. If I don't reboot I will just the roaming triangle and I can make calls but no data. Not all roms show 1x when in 2G mode. Stock rom will always show 3G, don't know if it is setup to show the roaming triangle, but you should get the beeps from roam guard telling you are roaming. I guess Sprint took a page from ATT's and Apple's play book in regards to reporting signal.
I'm running RC from the market, 1.7.

WoW, i didn't even realize its been pulled from the market. Anyway i paid so my version is 1.7 and it works great, i have to use it daily while at work. Sprint just doesn't reach all the areas i travel to and Verizon is there to lend a hand, lol.

Wifi Signal Strength and Connectivity

Hey guys,
I recently received an E4GT, and threw on Caulkin's latest rom with the FE22 modem. I notice that in comparison to other devices (iphone 4s, original samsung galaxy tab, OLD dell laptop) my phone can't receive signals that these other devices get. I was hoping for some assistance if possible. I searched through the forums and didn't really see anyone with the same exact problem. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Try flashing a different modem. Some modems work better than others and different devices prefer different modems. I'm actually using FE22 modem and it works great for me. Remember to update profile and prl after you change modem.

How do I update the PRL and profile? I dont see a how to for that :crying:

To update, (from home screen) MENU>SYSTEM SETTINGS>(scroll all the way down)ABOUT PHONE>SYSTEM UPDATE.
As far as affecting the wifi I am at a lose, sorry.

You may want to try one of the later builds to see if it will help. Also doing a clean install helped me when I had problems.

Yes the modem affects wifi signal strength. Updating the prl and profile is something you do after flashing a new modem or a new rom. A prl update has nothing to do with wifi but it helps data and voice. Feel free to search for better definitions if you want more info.

Also check ur wifi settings....go to wifi and hit the menu button for advanced. Might be ur phone is looking for dual band connections. There is also a wifi fixer app in the market but I'm not positive on its usefulness

It is set to auto, looking for both. Should I set it to one or the other? Which one should it be?
