This app is not an executable. - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed USA Traffic and then when I go to start it, it's not there. Weird, I don't see it in my Titanium Backup either (I had it backed up previously).
I go back to App Brain and it says it's installed. When I try to open from App Brain it says it's not an executable. How do I fix this?

Its because its installed on your sd card you need to move it to your phone. I had the same prob. Most apps won't run off the sd card.

That was it, I restored the app from backup and it's working now.
Thanks!

saving Apps to sd card?

How do i save my apps to my sd card? i want to save my whole app to my sd card don't care about installing it to sd, just want that the apps i download from market place be saved on sd card for later installing myself either off-line or if i reset phone and don't want to go back to market place and try to find them. The market place doesn't memorize your free apps in the downloads if you install one of them then navigate away then come back to see which one you have missed to download previously it wont show up again.
Ive searched here and on Internet and only thing keeps coming up is installing apps to sd card and why it cant be done. But im not looking for that. Just looking to save it to sd then at later date installing it to memory of phone. just care for saving the apk file not installing it to sd.
I use Titanium back up to save all the apps and some of the system data. When you load a new ROM just do a restore and viola all your apps are back. It does require root access

anything that doesn't require root? or that intercepts the market place download and saves the app to the sd card then installs it to phone so the app can be installed later if you do reset.

You can use a file manger i.e. astro or estrongs to backup apps. It can back up your free apps just fine. The only problem is when you install them from the SD card I don't believe they are attached to the market. That means the app won't update.
Your paid apps are attached to your gmail account so you can reset and they will still be there

.apk backup help please

Need help backing up apks since I've begun installing from non-market sources. Where are they stored in system and sd card directories? A game I just installed automatically put itself on the card and so I can't find it. MyBackupRoot doesn't seem to find them either when doing its nightly scheduled run. Thanks.
Some apps make their own directory for data and app storage but maintain a link on the phone as well usually in \data\data. Try Titanium Full version. It is mostly the link you need to backup since it tells the system where to find the rest of it. If most of the app is on the sd card and your backup goes to your sd card, you are essentially using double the space on your sd card if you backed that up too.

Is there a simple tool or way to find the .apk location? I have 3 different file explorers but that's not the easiest way always.
The best is Root Explorer. It will search sub directories. Then just search for part of the apps name and all files will pop up.
In miui.us file exlorer sorts everything .apk .zip misc don't know if you can port this apk over or just flash miui.us cause it is amazing

When I download nonmarket apps I put all the apks in an "app" category on my SD card to reinstall if I switch ROMs. I also backup the data with titanium.

Well, it turns out that I'm happily wrong about two things:
-MyBackupRoot does snag those apks even if they aren't from the market, and...
-I found that out by reacquainting myself with AntTek App Mgr. Root, which shows every apk on the SD card and has install features too! So that's a nice way to find them, free of charge. And so they're backed up and safe

Angry Birds Star Wars Free/HD

I got the HD version of ABSW for a buck on the Play Store but I was trying to figure out if my save game from the Free version is compatible. Only problem is I cant seem to find it and Titanium Backup cant (as far as I could see) restore data to a different app.
Anybody have any suggestions?
Getting Tibu to install the data may be difficult. that said you can probably manually restore the saved data. its worth a shot. I remember once my Tibu data got borked so I was able to take some from another device manually and place them in teh proper folder. Dont ask me what is was. It was a while back and ive been drunk since.
I was trying to find the save fame file was but I can't seem to find it.

Try this: Long press the App in Tibu, select "send latest backup", then select "Data only (easy import)" and send it via email to yourself. Then backup and uninstall your non-hd version of angry birds, leaving only your hd version on your phone. Finally, open the attachment to your backup email above, and it should add the data to your hd version.
I did that and it just restored the backup I made of the ad infested version. I did look at the emailed backup info and is named com.rovio.angrybirdsstarwars.ads.iap-20121220-150323.TiBkp so I figure i need to change the file name and place it in the Tibu folder?
(trying that right now)

If it is a data only back-up, and you have uninstalled the other version, I thought it may restore the data to the hd version?

[Q] how to restore recovered apks?

does any one know how to fully restore apks that were deleted from root of sd card ? i used an app to clean junk files from sd card but it deleted apk files that were not installed on phone just on sd card. i have recovered them but can not install them due to parse error. i cant get these apks again because they were from getjar when they did the gold free app of the day or whatever it was. is there anyway of getting full apk recovery from sd card or any way to resurrect them. i had made a back up on computer but they have been deleted.(just to reiterate these were not installed apks they were just on sd card).
If you're getting a parse error then chances are some data from the apk files has been deleted/corrupted. Probably your best bet is an app like undelete.
Cheers for that but have tried that and it recovers absolutely nothing tried hexamob as well which recovers files but u can not find them on sd card after. I used recuva from piriform to get the apk files but there not working. Have tried other recovery sortware like panda and another one meant for android for pc but just the same parse errors when I recovered apks.

Are you using titanium backup pro?
No these apps were on root of sd not being used at the time. They've been recovered just not fully getting parse error. Just excepting there gone.

CWM Weird Space Issue

Hello,
So I connected my Note 2 to my pc, and noticed that there was a lot of space being taken up by Titanium Backup, so I cut/pasted the files somewhere else, but my computer did not show that any space had been freed up. So then I navigated to the CWM folder, and cut and paste the only backup I have from the phone to my pc, and now on my computer shows it taking up 0 space. But when I look at the folder in the phone itself, it says CWM is taking up 3.15gb. Any help is much appreciated. I've already changed the destination of Titanium back up to my SD card. Below is a link to the screen shot of the space CWM is taking up on my phone.

Are you taking the entire cwm folder or just the backup folder? Because the is a folder labeled blobs inside the cwm fold er. That's where all the space is taken up.

Weird, when I right click the whole cwm folder, it says it's taking up no space. Do you know for a way for the backup to go to my sd card instead of the phone drive?

I'm sure under the backup section on cwm there is an option for external. I would check but I use twrp

I think I'm going to flash twrp and then just delete the CWM folder all together from my phone. Thanks for your help!
I had the same exact problem and ended up uninstalling Titanium Backup and Rom Manager and now I'm using Rom Toolbox with TWRP. I was kind of attached to TB and RM (and CWM) since I've been using them for so many years, but RM got wonky and annoying, and I don't even want to talk about when I tried to upgrade to the touch version.
