Is it just me or does anyone else get frustrated locating which handset they wish to look at when you navigate to xda-developers forum?
What I mean is the fact that the handsets are listed in no particular order... Blackstone is way down the list and Wallaby is at the top.
Can someone shuffle the list so that it's either in alphabetical list or order of release?
the list order at present makes no sense to me.
Thanks
It would help especially when you view the site from your mobile as you have to do a lot of scrolling and zooming to get to the right part.

Yeah
In fact it would be easier to have them organized by any criteria: Alphabetical, date of releasing, etc.
Maybe you can post this sugestion on (requests) From the Users to the Mods & Admins thread in About xda-developers.com forum
Second on the date of release or alphabetical order . It would make mobile browsing a lot easier.
Like many, I'm used to the way it is currently. alphabetical would be cool but then all of us would be lost
Actually, it's a good idea... i'll propose it to Flar.
Yeah
I suposed they were in appereance order but not sure
Well Mike has a great idea!
Hope it can be done
Was just about to start a new thread on this, but decided to just resurrect this one. It would be real nice if some other sort order for the forums was in place. At the least, group all phones by a manufacturer together. Currently, many Samsung phones are interspersed with those of other manufacturers making it a pain to find them. I think sorting them by popularity (# of posts in their respective General subforum) would be good as it would put the most used forums near the top, but alphabetical by either manufacturer name or device name would be fine, too, as it would make scrolling through them a lot easier.

I always use "Find your device..." to jump around the forum, and I have in the Index in compact.

How did I never notice this? They're still only mostly in order of release, but that makes a huge difference, thnx!
Hey
I HATE trying to get applications from this forum, and that's because some apps are in the "Development and Hacking " and some in the phones categories. Which makes it hard finding THAT app you want. A smarter way making this work would have been making a
* "Windows - apps (only portrait)" &/or
* "Windows - apps (portrait and landscape)"
* (and a Andriod - apps category )
Sub-forum/category, and make people post their apps there. THEN tagging each app to their "home device" (probably the device the developer developed it for). The tagging would have done the work easier for the solution I want to propose, which is that each Mobile-category has the "Software" sub-folder, which load up those threads in the e.g: "Windows - apps (portrait and landscape)" which is tagged that specific device.
Like so, here is Raphael as an example:
RAPHAEL:
Raphael
CDMA
ROM development
Software [loads up the tagged treads from the "windows apps" categories]
Tweaks
Accessories
The developers have to make their apps in different versions for the VGA, WVGA ect. But this makes the users only happier. I hate to find my WonderAPP and then realize that its due to screensize not supported good enough.
And since I only have the Idea and can't develop, I'm just saying out loud. Hoping it's possible and doable.
If this method could have been a Daily used service, it would have been much easier to "beat" the " I loooooove the iPhone, its so much better for my daily 15 minutes of joy"-syndrome somebody apparently have (discussed in some sub-forums). Because I feel we don't need, as some people have mentioned, 20 apps doing the same. (And that's because they develop the programs in their "home-treads" and not in the Development and Hacking division. Which again leaves us to more alike apps. Just think if the 20 developers worked together on 1 or 2 apps, what a result we would have got.
And a extra thing would been nice, a category for "IDEAS, [UNDER DEVELOPMENT], ALPHA, BETA"-apps. So developers, who want to help, or need help have a "safe" and ONE "home" to come and visit.
[This category I do want, because I tried getting somebody to help me, with my ideas for some apps, and no responds.]
Best Regards

Can I make a humble request to reorder the main page on the forum so that it lists the newest devices at the top and the oldest devices at the bottom....
It currently takes ages to scroll to the bottom of the list on a 4.3" touchscreen lol...
It's on the new admin's "TODO List".
I don't know what it will be, people are still banding about ideas, but in time there will be a new index.
Ta,
Dave
So all the rich people with their new expensive devices don't have to scroll, but us poor people with our 2, 3,4,5 year old devices have to scroll all the way to the bottom. Indignities upon indignities
You guys have the bigger faster screens, it's easier for you to scroll.
i suggest it to be indexed in alphabetical order so that there'll be no bias..
Alpha would be cool

Bookmark, maybe? Just sayin.
Alphabetising seems like a decent idea. But, then again, what of phones like, Elf and Vogue, that are essentially the same, except GSM and CDMA. Seems odd to separate the two.
We're working on this right now. You'll be able to not only filter the forum by Operating System and Manufacturer (coming soon), but sort by release date and other parameters (coming a bit later).
just remove G2 from hero and everything will be solved heheh just kidding
why don't you all use find (crtl+f) and start typing desired name/word/whatever...it is the fastest way to do it...imo
Maybe searching on size qvga, vga wvga etc and then alphabetic ....

Completely agree
I like what OliveTree has done with their Version 4 reader for the IPhone - Their current albeit older WinMo Version is very similar in features and has access to their Vast ebook store but is not very touch friendly. I have spoken with the nice folks at OliveTree about their plans for WinMo and unfortunately they have no plans to Develop anything for 6.x;

OliveTree:
Thank you for your interest and desire to help develop BibleReader. Unfortunately, BibleReader for Window Mobile is built on Windows Mobile 2001 technology. We looked into making it finger touch friendly and found that it was going to be easier to rewrite the app rather than updating. Since Microsoft is moving to Windows Phone (7) without backwards compatibility we decided to write the new version for Windows Phone (7). We had been waiting for this announcement before making a large commitment to Windows Mobile.

Due to the upcoming release of the Windows 7 platform, we are not likely to be able to devote any further development to the the 6.x platform. We are currently considering development for the new platform, but do not have any firm plans at this time.

So no Touch Reader for us. In fact, I have searched everywhere and outside of one(1) person in this forum there is NO one else trying to create a Touch Bible for this generation of WinMo Devices. I respect the effort but why re-invent the wheel when we only need a reader? Technically, the Touch Bible Reader market for Generation 6.x of Touch WinMo Devices is STILL WIDE OPEN.
Now, my wife and I both love our Touch Pro2s (gotta have the keyboard) and we need a Touch friendly Bible Reader. We have no intentions on jumping on 7 anytime soon (really not too happy with it's GUI). I am sure there are many more like us out here with devices from HTC Diamonds to HD2s etc....
So here is the Challenge : Right Now I would actually pay someone to create a Touch GUI for OliveTree's current WinMo Reader App. But I don't know what a fair amount would be. It doesn't have to have all the features of their IPhone Version 4 (see link below) - In fact we'd be happy with it's current feature set - just give us a better font, the Quick Nav Screens from their Version4, smooth flip scrolling for reading, access to their book store and we'd be happy. See the demo on YouTube (I am not allowed to post links yet)
Their current reader is totally FREE (so you won't be dipping into their pockets) - and they have a HUGE library of Bibles, Study Guides and other related books.
So if someone was to create the 'right' reader app. no only would they win the purse from this challenge - but they could potentially make quite a few a few bucks selling it as they would really have no competition (and will get no competition from OliveTree). In fact OT would probably love it because it would sell more of their e-books. (So they might even help.) Additionally, it would be the 1st Touch Bible Reader for WinMo 7
I am VERY serious about funding the 1st copy for my wife and I - with no desire for rights or ownership - so if there are any serious experienced WinMo Touch Developers feel free to contact me. "colin at rhinoweb dot net" - or post here that you will be taking on the challenge with some kind of estimated completion date.
But we want a quality app GUI on par with OilveTree's Version 4 (or Co0kie's Home Tab 1.6.1.1 or Advanced Home Tab 2.0 - SWEET!!)
I guess others that want to see this App written could further sweeten the purse by pledging to purchase or contribute a dollar amount to the cause here in this post as well.
I am open to any suggestions that will get this app done.

See, its a Fantastic Reader. All the functionality is already in there - just no (finger) Touch GUI.
(Sorry, I'm still not allowed to post links yet)
Is this the existing app you said you've seen? I know it's very early in development but it's already very nice to navigate, and the developer has said a lot of new features will come soon. Plus, it's free
Yes it is -I have it - and he is definitely on the right track. I just want it to have the existing features that I know and love (listed above) and access to OT's library.
Re-invention, IMHO, would take too long at this point.
I would love to see Olive Tree Bible Reader for WinMo 6.5 optimized for Touch (like the iphone version) I would gladly pay for such an endeavour, count me in.
But on the other hand I don't think is quite possible to do this, the application doesn't support skins and I don't know if the "books" format of olive tree is a standard or if it is a special "unknown" (propietary) format in that case it would need an application done frome scratch and have the right "protocol" for the Olive Tree "books", hey but maybe I am wrong and there is a way, I would really love to have an upgraded Bilbe Reader..
Who knows - OliveTree may choose to help the developer with the right background since they are not doing anything for 6.x - It only make sense that they would. They have nothing to loose and everything to gain. They'd tap into a market without all the sweat equity.
Hi guys, I have an idea and I created small graphic concept in Photoshop which Microsoft maybe include in Windows Phone 8
