This is probably a simple question but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I've cooked my theme at UOT and flashed it to my phone. I'm not entirely sure abut my choices so would like to go back to my original ROM settings ( Leedroid 3.0.6r2 ).
I've got a ROM Manager/Nandroid backup but just wondering if there is a simpler way to restore the original theme?
Is it possible to just restore framework-res.apk and if so, how do I go about doing that?
Regards, Robby
Full wipe and reinstall, perhaps you can put framework res apk with Root Explorer but I can't promess you that it will be concluant.

Thanks I decided to just restore my rom manager backup ...
so if you had decided to restore the rom's apk =>
framework-res.apk
SystemUI.apk
com.htc.resources.apk
those files are needed to do a good mod with uot kitchen.
however it s possible to copy them from leedroid's rom with 7-zip to any folder in your comp.
next time maybe

Hello,
I am wondering how i can compile all the parts of a rom using winzip. i have done modding everything to the rom and will test it out, then upload it to the DEV section. please help me. winzip is not accepting my folder add option but just files.
Thank you so much!
Here is more info, when I add the files to the Roms zip file, it does not allow adding the full folders such as system folder but only single files in it. The file boot could be transferred.
You cant just add mods to the framwork ect before flashing you will end up with a bootloop, you have to decompile the apk's like framework-res.apk, modify them and recompile ..... you should use winrar not winzip in any case

Thanks a lot.Now i need a lot of study to accomplise that!!!
you can easily change the png files in the framework-res.apk and the twframework-res.apk of any theme's zip.just take any theme as a base and change the pngs within opening the theme and then the apks by winrar or something like it.the pngs are stored in the drawable-hdpi and/or drawable-hdpi-v4 folders.
Whenever I try to change framework res, and replace the old edited frameworkres I get bootloops. After that I have to flash a stock rom with odin and then flash my cooked rom. Even if I push the original framework res.apk, that doesn't solve the problem. No issue with twframework res.apk. I can edit twframework res .APK and works fine.
Please help.
try using 7zip instead, its better at replacing files

reflashing a whole rom shouldn't be necessary
first of all, you should make a backup of your system, just in case
and you should always keep a working theme on your phone so that if you get stuck at boot, you just boot into CWM and flash the working one and everything should be fine again
and for your basic problem of editing themes, have a look at R64s guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10383323&postcount=577
explains all the basic stuff and works great for me
Hi all, I'm not from this section but was wondering if anyone has got the original framework file for the Galaxy S, I'm looking for the icons more than anything, I'm thinking of doing a theme for my DHD. Any help on this would be perfect.
Thanks!
Download one of stock 2.2.1 ROM's from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790
Extract it, go to /system/framework/ and you can find images in framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk (you can open .apk's as zip files or decompile them, probably you already know that )
Never thought of that, cracking idea pal, thanked!
People are using different rom's , some other are asking for specific mod etc
Could someone write some guide how to do it, to enlight those who are not aware ?
Take the framework-res.apk from your current rom and upload it to http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen
Once uploaded go to battery mod and select the battery style u want and cook it.
When its cooked extract the framework-res.apk from the downloaded file and either replace it with root explorer or push it with adb back into the phone.

Depends of which rom you are running but if you use VillainRom I think you need to open your modded framework with 7-zip and replace "META-INF" directory with the one found in the original framework of your rom. This is needed to sign the file.
However I'm not sure you use VillainRom (where files must be signed) and I didn't use yet the kitchen ... but your feedback is usefull if you want to try ...

Ok so ignore what I said upper ... should be only for signature of the rom (not needed in stock roms).
Anyway ... if someone has the solution ...
I always made that on my own...
Open the decompiled .xml in the framework-res.apk, edit those lines, add my own battery.pngs and that was all...
I didnt test it on my sgs2... But it should be the same way to get it...

could you tell which .xml to edit and what to add within the file?
I juz grab one of the batt mod out there and replace the .png files under /res/drawable-hdpi-v4 with the ones I want. guess its kind of a lazy way to do it=)
I have KE2 and get a "signature verification failed" error when trying to apply the UOT.zip file :-(
Anyone some idea how to get this applied?
Also my original framework-res.apk file doesn't have any folder called "/res/drawable-hdpi-v4" but the UOT file has!?

I created a Custom rom using dsixda kitchen and all the roms work fine until i deodex them and add su permissions the rom doesnt boot and if use the boot.img file after building the custom rom i get a Status 7 error for the tmp\boot.img file
i reffered some sites it says this is a problem with the updater-script
can someone help me out with this error
yup...the problem comes from the updater script. you need to replace the updater script with the modified one. if you need to install only the rom (without the kernel) you can find one in my post. check my sig about customizing a rom. if you want to install the kernel you need to modify the script used to install the kernel. the other way, you can install the kernel separately with faqbly or mai77's method.

boot.img is for kernel and you can install it after installing ur rom... and yes, wenever u deodex ur rom it will show bootloop so u can manually deodex ur rom, if u add su permissions then nothing would happen.. another solution to make deodexed rom to work could be by replacing the META-INF from another rom. u can make ur kernel work by copying the META-INF from a rom which has custom kernel in it
SOURCE:i hav tried all this
I have installed the roms without the kernel but the problem is i want it to be deodexed and if i build a rom which is deodexed without the boot.img file the phone is stuck at the samsung galaxy y boot screen
can u put up a detailed explanation on how to make custom roms and all plz i really need help
i have reffered a lot of post but the only working method was of dsixda kitchen and
the roms only boot if i just rename it and build it if i add any su or deodex the phone doesnt boot

Thanks for the help i will try it out
and another thing can u insert the uot kitchen theme to the custom rom without acctualy having to flash it again and again from the recovery
don't forget to clean your dalvik-cache after install your rom. in most cases it can causes bootloop if the dex file isn't match with the apk file.

after getting the modded files from UOT kitchen u can directly flash them... no need of reflashing the rom..
I will try that and is the only solution to get rid of the bootloop caysed by deodexing

customrom.zip>app> ---- paste and replace the old files
tried that already i get stuck at the main flash screen
thanks anyways

Sometime not all application can deodex in my case with ultimate deodex samsung keyboard n email can deodex. But when i try with dsixda kitchen email app can deodex.

^ he is right.. some apps cant be deodexed.. try installing the rom with no special features except su... then keep adding features one by one... dont put the modded files from UOT directly before flashing the custom rom cuz sometimes they can also lead to bootloop... first check whether ur rom is booting or not and then all kind of stuffs
if you replace the theme you 'must' clean your dalvik cache. please make sure that you also have delete systemUI.odex file in /system/app.
Can someone give a real detailed explanation on how to create a fll custom including themes in the rom and how to create kernel for that particular rom
and how to fix the status 7 bug even with other custom rom's lernel i get the same status 7 error some one plz help
and also how do i deodex without getting stuck for a bootloop
check my sig. you can also visit hell_lock's post about make a rom from kitchen. the only one method to solve your error 7 problem is by using meta-inf folder from other custom rom. for deodexing method you can see chamatht's post about how to deodex system app and framework.

thanks for the reply but these are the two posts fom where i actually learned creating rom and hell_lock also had this status 7 problem
so guys using meta inf from other rom should be done after building the whole rom or during the working folder step
you can find a meta-inf folder in my post you can use that instead if you only want to install the rom without the kernel.
Thanks dude but when i add the meta inf folder during zipalign there is a error and guys i got go launcher ex as the launcher but it is not the default one i get an option to choose and i remember that i deleted the launcher.apk file
And the alarm is missing in my phone after installing this rom
