I realized its not possible to turn of the camera sound so i deleted the sound from the directory /system/media/audio/ui but the sound when camera is aiming is still there...
Is it possible to delete this sound file?
I'm on official 2.1, for me in camera mode I can press Menu then Settings, and then uncheck the box for "Capture tone".
Surely that feature would still be there in CM7?

You can't disable the capture tone in CM7, thats why i deleted the files.
But the sound when its aiming is still there and i dont want this sound.
Also it's not in the camera.app..... maybe re-complie the app will works though it's a hard way

For the life of me, I can't seem to find how to activate the screen off sound. I have the crt anim from the update .368 and settings option for screen sound unlock is ticked. Screen unlock has sound but screen off/lock does not work. Anyone?

"Screen off and lock" works fine with me. I always use this app since the power botton a little hard to push.

Just a gentle reminder: Try to answer directly to the questions posted and not your suggestion to a different application or what you do when someone is having issue.

I use that in my x10 mini but still it does not work with the 4.0 update for arc. And I would like to limit installing apps just for simple things.

Actually I don't know what is stock anymore. Hahaha! Too much mod. I guess I got it from crt anim mod from apps and themes section.
The lock.ogg and unlock.ogg files are present in the /system/media/sounds/ui so i think it should be working as stock in 4.0?
I will answer my own question for the sake of the community.
SE somehow changed the default locked.ogg to a dummy sound, no sound actually. Then changed the framework in settings menu to show only unlock sound will be activated. I fixed it by replacing the default locked.ogg to a different one. You can use unlocked.ogg. Just back it up somewhere then rename to locked.ogg and replace. They are located in /system/media/sounds/ui
Sorry, I misunderstood the meaning 'screen off/lock'. Sorry again because English is not my native language.

Hi,
why is there no option to adjust system volume (camera-shutter, battery warning, ...) in any ICS ROM?
Without 3rd party-apps you can´t set system-volume of the phone...
I really don´t like that...
e.e I like 3rd party apps ... they are sometimes better than stock

that´s the problem... why do i need a third party app to adjust simple things like system-volume?
ICS has integrated sliders for alarm-volume, in-call-volume, and so on... but why is system-volume missing?
Why CM9 or AOKP don´t include such a slider?

If you're already using ics roms which are always third party, why do you mind using a third party app? Personally, I have fallen in love with volume+. Check the developer's website for free full version (market version sucks).

because it kills homogenous look&feel ... i´d like to adjust all volumes with ICS-settings (e.g. opened via volume button) - and i don´t like to start an extra app for adjusting system-volume.
that´s really not necessary... what´s the problem to add a slider into ics-settings?
Its built into the stock sound settings on aokp. You can link or unlink system volume. I forget how it was on stock, but I'm pretty sure its tied in with ringer volume on stock. So your camera sound is whatever level your ringer volume is.

oh thanks.. so i will try AOKP...
at stock-ROM it is definitely not tied in ringer volume - you need an extra app there...
Is there a SamsungCamera.apk out there with a working shutter sound On/Off toggle? I know a majority of the custom ROMs have silent shutter sounds even if you turn the toggle on or off. Is there one out there that actually works on and off?

Hope you are rooted. Navigate to \system\csc\ and find feature.xml. open it and find the line that says
"<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>" Change true to false. Save and reboot
Damn, for some reason this doesn't work for me. I make the change and save the file, reboot and I still don't get the option to disable the camera sound. I'm doing this all with ES file explorer.
If you are on ICS you have to edit a line in the build.prop as well for this to work. Open your build.prop and find the line that reads
"add camera sound property for SPR concept ro.camera.sound.forced=1"
and change to
"add camera sound property for SPR conceptro.camera.sound.forced=0"
Again this only applies to ICS. Jellybean only requires the edit in 2nd post and build.prop doesnt need altered
if you're using ES, check the permissions of the file afterwards. it seems to like to change them on it's own. I switched to root explorer to avoid that.
SMS in Ringer Stream - Changes SMS audio stream of notifications from 'notification' to 'ringer'
================
This was made for Samsung Galaxy S3 and tested on it. It should work on other phones, but I can't be sure. I don't held any responsibility for any damage you do on your phone.
The default SMS/MMS app has no option to set volume level for notifications and it uses the level set by the system to all notifications. I prefer to have it use the same level as the ringer so I made this mod to do it. This way I can have a low sound level for notifications, a normal sound level for ringer and hear not only incoming calls but also SMS/MMS.
This uses Xposed framework (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401)
After you have installed Xposed framework, install this app. After that, enable the mod inside Xposed Installer (you probably have a notification to do it, you can click it). Then reboot your phone (you can soft reboot inside Xposed Installer).
NOTE: This only works in default SMS/MMS app, others apps won't work.

Well, it can be done, but it's not the purpose of this mod. But source code is available, you just have to change what packages it hooks, it's really simple.
I see, would be nice though, maybe when i learn developing ill give it a shot

Now sms is on same volume as the ringer wich is much better then the original !

Check /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/log/debug.log for any error and report it here (or /xposed/debug.log if you aren't in latest Xposed). Also, how do you know it's not working? Have you tried making notifications silent and then receive a SMS and it didn't played?
It's great to notice one of my most needed mods this still works on kitkat 4.4.2
How about making an app that can change or set volume for all apps separatly?
Work like This:
add an app in it and set volume for that app
add facebook and set volume to 100%
add whatsapp and set volume to 60%
...
maybe an option to change notification sound for every apps too
.
is this possible at all?

+1 there are apps that let you put their sounds in another channel (my alarm clock app let me choose between alarm channel and phone call channel) so maybe it is possible to create an app that let us decide in wich channel a sound is played so we can put different volumes in each channel ?
I would love to be able to have some notifications (for example facebook) sound silent while other more important apps (for example mail) make more sound
Something like this for the navigation voice in maps would be awesome. It drives me nuts when listening to music at a low volume that the nav voice can't be heard.

About setting different volumes I'm not sure, but I think that it may be possible, you have to change the volume every time a notification is going to be played. But I won't be doing it, I don't have time and more importantly I don't need it - and I hate working for no purpose.

That is a different thing, you aren't talking about a notification sound, so it requires a different method than this module. But I think it would be possible.

I tried changing the package in the code to use "com.hellotext.hello" instead of "com.android.mms".
I could not figure out to compile on pc, but I got it to compile on tablet with "AIDE" from the store. Unfortunately it didn't work.
:crying:
Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Hi arjag,
I can't help you. What I can do is recommend that you read http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...reate-your-very-own-xposed-module-in-eclipse/ and http://www.xda-developers.com/android/easily-configure-xposed-module-projects-in-eclipse/
Also there is the possibility that the app you want to use works in another way, I don't know.
I've been using the physical camera button to launch camera when out about. The reason I asked this here as I found the Stock camera app is not that good for auto focus (I’ve tried Manual too) compare to other camera apps such as FX cam, cymera, etc.
I would like to know are there any way to assign the camera button to launch a different app + it will work on Lock Screen too? So far I found nothing yet as I guess a special ROM needed to do this function. I am rooted and would like to know if something Xposed can do without flashing ROM. (Reason – I like the Xperia Stock)
Thank you and let’s see if this is achievable to make life easier for people do not like the Xperia Stock Camera.
Bump
I would like to bump up this thread as I'm also looking for a way to assign a different camera app with the hardware button.
2nd that! Would be nice if that button is customizable as it's pointless if you use a different camera app.

From my Samsung days, I remember that there was a file containing all the key layout maps to the physical keys. After editting it, I was able to use the volume keys as HOME and BACK. I suppose that in Sony it should be the same principle for the camera key.
I don't remember the location by heart and I don't have my phone with at the moment but try looking into /data/system/user/key-layout something file. Open it under a text editor, change it, save and reboot.
I have another question. I feel like posting it here haha.
I have noticed that the stock camera app saves your settings when you open it from the icon but when you use the physical button it is always on superior auto. Is there a way to keep my manual settings when opening it with the button?
Sent from my D5503
I've installed the gallery from a different rom and disabled the Sony camera via titanium backup. Now if I press the physical camera button when the phone is on and unlocked the "new" camera starts. I did not change anything else. Sadly I cannot start the camera from lockscreen anymore, but that's fine for me.
I have disabled the standard camera app from settings and now pressing the physical button starts the other camera that i've downloaded from play store, simple as that
are there any soulutions for changing the defaul camera app using the physical button?
If you have rooted your phone you can install Xposed Framework + Xposed Additions and reassign the buttons like you want.
