HEY GUYS.
I M RUNNING PD98IMG.zip WITH RADIO S-OFF DOWNGRADEF FROM LEAKED GINGERBREAD 2.3.3. DONOT HAVE GENUIN ROM WHICH CAME WITH PHN.
WHAT TO DO HOW TO GET OTA UPDATE...??
HEEEEELLLLPPPPP ....!!!!
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I dont think official updates are available for a device having Radio S-Off . If you really want the updates, i am guessing you have to go back all the way to stock, S-On. Search this forum for how to do that.
Just as an opinion, instead of going for stock and updates, just use custom roms. Theya are way wayyy better..
the only thing that you need its a WEE OFICIAL RU froyo for obtain the update via OTA, (also you can update your phone from htc sync via usb) its not neccesary do s on or unroot phone

Hi guys
At the moment i've recieved an update which says the version code is: ota_btavo_htc_eu_2.10.405.2-2.09.405.8_release567cypyi0feo4th5.zip
My current version is froyo 2.2 now, should i let my phone to upgrade this update, or will it downgrade my phone?
My phone is also rooted, is there a problem about this?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Don't use it as it will mess the phone up...
So i think my guess is right, this update is for version 2.1 right?

No, it's the 2nd 2.2 patch...it updates 2.09.405.2 to 2.10.405.2
You just can't install it as you're rooted

Eddy, I'm quoting your post on the other thread for clarification..
If this is an OTA, why cant he update it via Recovery? Would it still mess up the system?
It CAN mess it up, it's never a good idea to flash a stock update on a rooted phone...read other posts (not just mine ) and you'll see other people say this

Understood..
I'm little bit confused right now, sorry for being a rookie but can you explain this a little : "You'll need to turn off signature checking in your Recovery and then flash the update.zip as you would any other OTA but yes it should go through"
What should i do now, unroot? if so how, or what's this update's benefit, if its not so necessary i can pass it..
thanks by the way
Easiest way - find a custom ROM based on that ROM version. Most Sense-based ROMs should be on it by now
Other option is to unroot using the 2.10.405.2 RUU, or the 2.29.405.2 RUU. Then root again should you want to but if you're just going to put a custom ROM back on then there's no point
Desire is currently rooted and S-OFF'ed. Is it possible to "debrand" this way? Also this means I'll get the GB update (as I'm pretty sure VF won't release an update)
Thanks for any potential advice guys

Yes, you can. But you need goldcard to avoid cid error and furthermore, you will loose root access and s-off. So imho it is easier, to flash one of the many custom sense roms with gingerbread you can find here. On this way you won't loose root access and s-off status, but you will have a gingerbread sense rom (which is what you want I guess).
or is there a easy way to unroot? I rooted via unrevoked......

There is no easier way to unroot as flashing a ruu, imho.
Swyped from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
Ok so I guess if I flash the Voda RUU, the phone will have to do a few updates...... as the RUU is pretty old 2.1 I do believe...
if you instal the Vodafon RUU you will be branded again. And what is the point of unrooting? You can always find a rooted stock Rom, I am sure one will come out as soon as Gingerbread will be released.
And another problem would be if they release the update by IMEI and then if you are not at the original state of your phone you will not get the update even if not rooted.
True, best wait for a stock rooted ROM from here then and flash that via ROM manager

Please do not use rom manager, it is a horrible software which causes many heavy system problems here. Just do it directly from recovery.
Hi Fellow xda.
I have flashed the official Gingerbread ota update ruu to my desire.
After that i realized that i couldnt root or go back to Oxygen rom, now that the hboot version is 1.02
Before i had hboot version 0.93 i think.
I have tried the downgrade to 2.1
and root again with unrevoked.
None of these 2 methods work.
Is there any other way to go back to rooted and custom recovery to oxygen rom or hboot 0.93?.
With oxygen and launcherpro my desire feels faster than stock sense
Anyone else have this problem?
There is currently no method of downgrading the hboot or rooting the official GB RUU.
I guess all you can do is wait until somebody figures a way to root and install custom recovery
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Ops good job I never installed this. I read others having this problem also.
Same situation, precipitaded mself, now can't root and all my backups are Titanium backups, have nandroid backups but can't use them....
damn...
isn't it possible to downgrade hboot?
I am also facing this problem. Is there any solution available now?

No solution - check Alpharev/Unrevoked updates - if there will be a solution, it will probably be in the developement section.
Someone said that they used a Froyo RUU to downgrade then they just rooted. But it didn't work for other people but I think its with a shot. Otherwise you'll have to wait.

Hmmmm...I did not know about this...
I did not flash the RUU directly but tried to flash the rooted or modified ones from this forum...and decided to keep InsertCoin 1.0.9
How did the devs root it then? Perhaps, try asking Baadnewz and/or NeoPhyTe for help, since they have released the rooted official update.
I don't think they rooted it as such, but more of "ported" it. I don't know a thing about rom development but go and ask him.

The difference is that when u run the ruu, it will overwrite ur hboot, ur recovery, ur rom, ecc, everything...So u lost root, because the ruu restore everything as stock.
In particular after run the ruu, the new hboot installed doesn't allow to root again and doesn't allow to change hboot at the moment.
Instead, when u flash the rooted rom based on official gb (u already have root and u don't lost it, simply), the zip contain only the rom part and with inside the super user apk (that allow root permission), so flashing it u will continue to have ur recovery, ur hboot, ur root permissions.
Instead when running the ruu, so u lost root, there is no way to install again a custom recovery and there is no way to push the super user apk into the rom (unrevoked / alpharev doesn't work)..At the moment.
From devs side, create a rooted rom is easy, as they extract from the ruu only the rom and make it rooted pushing in the zip that they are going to create the super user apk and some other tweaks to the kernel as well...All this can be done with the dsixda kitchen
I hope everything is clear now

That you did. There are plenty of threads with that information available.
is there a way to root now?
we should wait?
Okay well then i guess im stuck like others :S
i was just thinking if there was a way to get superuser rights by using the terminal or adb.
i did also try the old root method for the desire that came before unrevoked. That didnt work.
Thank goodness...I was tempted to flash the original RUU...but my stomach told me not to do it...I would have been in the same situation if had flashed it too...
I hope there will be an easy solution in the near future for you guys
@andQlimax: Thanks for the information so...so, I hit the thanks button

That's prob as close as you'll get to the update without flashing the RUU.

Have the same problem as others here. Tried both apk and adb with GingerBreak. No luck
...but I'm trying to play around a bit and got a noob idea to use ARUWizard to flash custom rom. I've extracted RUU 2.29 and RUU 2.3.3 and replaced 2.3.3 rom.zip with the one from 2.29. It didn't work of course as newer version has been discovered but I was wondering if it's possible just to root the standard rom.zip and put it back. Is there any chance that it works?
Have anyone rooted htc desire with Gingerbread RUU update ?

Yes. There are some official OTA 2.2.1 update ROMs here. Just flash like a normal ROM.
All you have to do is flash the official update and you will be unrooted and s - on again.
@UberMario, So the rom updater software available on HTC Support website, can also get me back to the Offical Rom? Right? That is, without bricking my phone!?!

I had rooted and was on S-OFF, when I was on Offical 2.1 Eclair Rom, then I updated via the official Htc updater software to 2.2.1 Froyo. I lost the root, but S-OFF remained. Gained root again by just using the SuperOneClick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

I dont want some official rom, i want THE official rom. All i want to do is, flash different roms and try them out, but in the end, i want to just be able to go back to the OFFICIAL rom. Can I do that by using the software updater from HTC Support Website?
I'm having trouble getting the official HTC update to work, so be careful. I'm kinda tearing my hair out about. Everyone keeps suggesting "oh just use the official HTC update, that will fix everything" but it's like they've never tried it themselves.

I think the official HTC update only works if you're on a sense ROM. I had tried to flash the update for ****s and giggles while on cyanogen but the software wouldn't find the phone... So, if anything, flash one of the OTA rooted roms and THEN flash with the HTC software update.

You won't brick the phone, but you will lose S-OFF as well as root. You can always reroot again, but nobody figured out how to get S-OFF with the new hboot, so as far as now, you will lose S-OFF for good.

No, once you have the official froyo update from HTC, it will upgrade your hboot, which nobody knows how to gain S-OFF from yet. Not even AlphaRev's method.
Hello guys already running 4.2.2 with Hboot 1.36 I see o2 have now released this update. Is the Hboot changed to 1.72?? and if so is they any change worth updating from 1.36 to 1.72??
thanks
Anyone?

Yes the hboot is changed to 1.72. I couldt install the OTA wia the recovery it gave me Red triangle during the process so I manually updated the hboot. I advise you not to do that if you want to make ypur phone full stock because after upgrading the hboot to 1.72, lower firmwares like 3.14.206.X > wouldt work, to be more precise the touch would`t work on them. So as for me I`m waiting for some one to make a backup of 4.18.206.X or to find the RUU.
Anyway I have the OTA but dont know how to upload it.
Hope this helped you a bit.

Btw root acces does not interfere with an ota update. You loose it after the update.
