Hey guys, I tried to perma root my wife's G2 last night using Visionary+ r14 but when it tried to reboot it doesn't get past the green and white "HTC" screen, so now I have a couple of questions.
I bought this phone from someone off of Craigslist and it was working great until I tried to root it so it is technically out of warranty do you think I can get it replaced since everything is still stock?
Also I tried to apply the HTC OTA update to fix it and I still have the problem, is there anything I can do to repair this phone? Thanks in advance guys and mahalo!
Okay pull your battery out and put it back in..after dat press power button and volume down button until you get to the recovery screen and do a factory reset..

Thanks for the reply jboiii15. I did a factory reset before I flashed the OTA update and I have factory reset several times but still no go. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

I haven't tried it because I can't get ADB to work with the phone the way it is, Fastboot works but ADB just shows nothing there while I'm in recovery or the boot screen. Thank you also for the reply. My wife is pissed lol.
Try to extract the ROM from the official RUU and rename it to PC10IMG.zip. Put this on the root of your SD card and boot into bootloader and leave it to work. This should solve your problem Fingers Crossed

I don't have S-OFF as I just started the rooting procedure when it decided to take a dump on me, after this I don't think my wife will want me to root any more of her phones although I know she'll miss it after having a rooted G1 running CM and a rooted Slide running Chromatic. Good thing I didn't sell her Slide yet lol.
I'll try to find information on the PC10IMG.zip method now and see what can be done.

I think the rooting process has corrupted your kernel or rom, it is rare to get a brick from just the visionary process, but i know there has at least been one that this has happened to.
Report back to tell us if the extracted ROM worked for you, there is still hope;')

Oh man this is just getting worse lol. I had the phone sitting here plugged into my laptop while the phone was in the Hboot screen where you can select Fastboot, Recovery and so on. All of a sudden my here Windows give off the noise as if something was connected or disconnected from my computer and I see the screen shut off on the G2 with a red light blinking. Now the phone doesn't power on and the red light blinks while the phone is plugged into the computer but doesn't power on.
As I was typing this the red light came on solid as if it is charging now, maybe it doesn't charge while in that screen and the battery just died I dunno, strange.

Well I called T-Mobile and they are sending out a new phone, I'm unsure if I should still mess with it or not. I did flash the TMOUSA OTA update and that didn't help, I didn't unpack it to see if it contained a new Kernel but I'm sure it had a new system.img, still think it is one of those that is messed up?
I'm having a hard time finding the things to get the PC10IMG.zip going, work is calling me in different directions and my A.D.D is kicking in lol.

P.D. I am a androidnoober always have a iphone and this was my first time using sdk adb or whatever name is and I did it
Thanks AndroidNoober, I've seen that link in my search for an answer to my problem. One of the issues that is making this harder is that after the phone "bricked" it lost ADB connectivity. I've tried it on two computers that have a properly working ADB (I test it with my N1 and 3G Slide) and it used to work with the G2 but now I can't get it to see the phone, I've heard Recovery has ADB blocked.
semi bricked attempting permaroot
i attempted permaroot and semi bricked my phone. will not boot past htc screen. i can't get adb to work. i am trying to get pdanet installed but it keeps getting stuck on installing on phone. can it install while phone is in recovery mode? i have had no sucess trying to figure this out on my own and phone is not covered with a warranty
i have gotten the phone to read an update.zip file.
it is reading the pc10img.zip as well.
now i just have to get past the htc screen.
i do have s-on as i had just started the process.

Hello everyone this is my first post and thread so please bear with me.I have a big problem i need some help with.I rooted my desire about 8 months ago with unrevoked and everything went great i was using defrost then moved to gingervillainn .i tried to update to 1.6 through villain app as normal but for some reason clockworkmod has stopped working i just get a blank screen then when i press the power button it says clockworkmod recovery v2.5.0.1 in white text i then have to pull the battery to reboot the phone.I have tried to use it manualy by turning it on with the power and volume buttons held and selecting recovery but i get the same result.Same thing with rom manager.iv used rom manager to try and upgrade clockwork mod it says its succesfull but its still not working.my phone has became very buggy and i cant flash any roms or restore a nandroid backup.Any help would be very appreciated also when i press the supper user app it force closes is it possible that my phone has become unrooted somehow please help as the phone is almost unusable

hello everyone iv also tried rooting the phone again with unrevoked 3 its says the root is running but i still cant use clockwork mod.I was going to try and unroot the phone from the guide in this forum but htc sync doesnt recognise my phone because im not running a htc rom i guess.i really have ran out off ideas on what to do.Has anybody here had the same problem and managed to fix it?Any ideas would be great.iv got super user permissions back so i know the phones still rooted.can anybody out there help?!!!!!
Try an RUU flash, you will lose root etc but it might get it working again

i downloaded an ruu to flash through htc sync but it doesnt pick up my phone i was thinking its because im not using a htc sence rom i dont have the option to sync from the pull down blind of the phone if u know what i mean
hi im in extreme trouble. i used visionary to temproot my desire z/G2 and was trying the unlockr method so i kept on on temp root on every boot. now my phone is not working. whenever i boot, i get the lockscreen and when i slide it, i only get visionary app and black screen and after a while it shows visionary has stopped responding and asks to force close or wait. i dont know what to do i cant use my phone and ive tried taking out battery and booting 4 times.
Well, I have bad news and good news... The bad news is that I myself cannot help you with this problem because I do not have enough knowledge on the rooting subject. However, the good news is, I do have enough knowledge to tell you that you are NOT screwed, for you are not bricked! I would highly suggest following a different guide for rooting however, for example the one found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
I used it and it worked perfectly. Also visionary is known to have a high chance of bricking your phone (I throw this in just in case, bricking makes it unusable)
What you can probably do is factory reset your phone and then follow the wiki guide to achieve root, though I would wait for one more person to confirm that this is advisable as again I am not the most knowledgeable on the subject.

PS I'm pretty sure that factory reset and following instructions is the way to go but I don't wanna be responsible for a bricked phone It's what I would do though

You're not bricked for sure You can use the guides here on my blog www.desirez.strawmetal.com to root your phone(it works)..Do the entire process again...
Dont feel scared to use ADB.. its not complicated once you start using it...
NEVER use VISIONARY!! I almost bricked mine too... hope my guide works for you..
hyey thanks a lot for your advice but now something new happened. my phone was fine and uninstalled visionary. now i used the other root method and now my phone is bricked i think. it is stuck on white screen with htc logo and i tried to reboot again and again. also my mem card doesnt have any rom image right now so i cant do any thing. please helllp
You can try this.. Use an sd card reader and copy your rom onto the sdcard root.. See if it works

its stuck in loop[ and i cant get to recovery, i can go to the bootloader but nothing past that either way... is there a update.zip i can use or something??? its not rooted and dont remember what this one was in the box for but i do know a rom was tryed to be installed with s-on
Doesn't sound very good.
If it doesn't bootloop inside the bootloader, the best you can do is to download and put this file on the root of your SD card, then try to install it through the bootloader to see if it fixes the problem. If not, there is not very much you can do to solve a bootloop with the phone S-ON.

You can use htcdev.com to unlock the bootloader but you need hboot 2.18 and you have to select all other supported models on the htcdev tool as your device

ok then i didnt do the htc unlock, well i tried the img u said and when it started the update it failed the radio, the first one, but finish the rest fine but said update failed.... i think maybe batterys low so im charging it now to try again, but i have a few bricked evos if anyone wants to see if they can unbrick em'
well i did the update about six times and differnt everytime, but the last time i had no errors an all complete but when it turns off to reboot it never comes on..... once i pull the battery and reinstall the battery if i turn the phone one it just bootloops still. anytime in a menu it says reboot divice and i do hit the button the divice never comes back on??? ivew tryed a few batterys, could this still be the problem?
well i got two bricked evo now if anyone wants them i can send the motherboard out

Hi, i have the same problem after downgrading my 2.2 froyo to 2.1 eclair that rom it's not good! obviously it's freezing your touch screen after u turn on your phone.
Here it's the rom u need to downgrade to 2.1 (eclair) stock!

It's freak! I did the same **** like u.. and after i see the touch screen it's not working, i looked for another rom to install i didn't met your problem. I've just launched again the RUU installer and thing goes fine. Yes in this case u can try with Android Sdk Tools..

Touch Screen Freeze
Hello...!!!!
Have the same problem...Everything went on fine till the time when i tried installing RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_130814_signed.
Once the installation completed and the phone rebooted the touch screen of the phone froze completely....!!!
I cant move out from the home screen where i have to swipe the screen to go to the home page...and so i am nt able to turn on USB debugging.
Tried to install RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_130814_signed again but in ended up with the same problem.
Dont know what to try next...!!!
Try some other ruu.. Go to wildfire index in development section.
Edit:
I forgot. You wont have usb debugging enabled so you wont be able to install another ruu.

take the rom.zip out of the ruu by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=486701&d=1294753279 , rename it pg49img.zip boot into bootloader and try flash it from there.

I'm having the same issue with touchpad...
I've tried extracting the ROM like descripted in the guide, tried renaming it both ways, but the HBOOT just doesn't retrieve it.
Did I just kill my friend's Wildfire?
Jeez, my DHD was waaay easier to root, this one got complicated. And it was already S-OFF , so I was like: Great, one step less...
I've this same issue.
Even after re-installing and RUU via the SD card, then trying installing the original stock Froyo, the screen still doesn't work (it also undid all my work on the device).
So now I've a completely unusable device.

It always shows an error ... Do i have to visit the HTC centre ?? My device has been S-OFFed... will they accept?
Had this sorta issues with my wildfire too... If your device is S-OFF, you can downgrade and upgrade at anytime but if not, you can only upgrade.
Boot to HBOOT, connect your USB cable and select FASTBOOT (USB FASTBOOT) and run the RUU... It should go on smoothly from there. And I'd recommend this RUU RUU_Buzz_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.15.707.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_131306_signed. Hope it helps.

Argh! Nice try! But it still does not work. But let me tell you something weird - the touch screen works for some 5 min every 2 days! Any guesses? Help would be appreciated!

You know what? I had this same issue the night after I posted on here... Give the phone a break... Like a day without putting it on... It should work afterwards. Or If you want a fast break... Open Wildy up and clean the TouchPanel... Remove the screen and heat it under the sun or heat it up with whatever is hot.
Touch screen still not wotking.. The HTC service centre says that they cannot change the software... I have tried around 10 RUU's ... All of them have failed.. I also tried installing using PC49IMG.zip... That also has failed . I have also tried installing Official CM for Wildfire.. That also failed.. What's the next step I should take to recover my phone?

Time to change the digitizer of the phone .
It should cost around 25$ while HTC guys might charge you 45$-50$.
